  2. to be honest I'm not going to chase UPS, as I have a account with them for work. If they get around to sending an invoice then I'll pay but I don't think that will happen as the time spent by UPS sorting it all out will outway the actual amount. I spoke to Pawel from TWG quite a bit during thr lost/delayed parcel saga and he is quite happy as he got a full refund. Just to recap on the whole thing: Taiwangun were really good Parcel force were good but slow (staff shortages are pretty well documented in Parcel Force in the media currently) UPS were terrible. UPS support wasn't very helpful and continued to promise updates that they never delivered. Am I going to chase UPS just to give them money when I used up all my patience chasing them to sort out my delivery. well no is the simple answer.

I spend all my working days with L85s and 22s in front of me and it took a few minutes of looking at certain details to convince myself the gun wasn't real.

  7. Hi folks, This is a project I started gathering bits for much earlier in the year, had the fitting and machining work. Have now used it twice at games and it's just not for me in terms of the ergonomics and general controls/manipulation. What I'd affectionately call 'doing a Dave', those that know... know (a degree of irony given he's the one that did the work). Certainly in no major rush to be rid of it, but it's a bit too much cash tied up for a wall hanger for me. I'll list everything in detail below, emphasis on detail. Base RIF: E&L AKS74U Tactical MOD C Platinum (bought from new) Externals: Genuine ZenitCo B-11U Handguard (machined to fit with no play or wobble) Genuine ZenitCo B-19N Upper Rail Genuine ZenitCo PK-6 Hand Stop Genuine ZenitCo B-18 Optic Rail Genuine ZenitCo B-2 and B-2L Rail Segments (1 of each) Genuine ZenitCo NPN-2 Rail Covers (2x desert, 2x black) Genuine ZenitCo A-2L Sling Mount Genuine ZenitCo RP-1 Charging Handle Extension (machined to fit without play or wobble) TWI DTK-2 Compensator (machined to fit with proper timing, some wear on the trades) 5KU PBS-1 Mini Suppressor Unkown Brand Repro US Palm Grip (machined to fit with no play or wobble) Unknown Brand 'Tactical Selector' (likely Cyma but not certain) Internals: ASG U-22000 Motor (motor cage modified to accept) Lonex Helical Bevel Set SHS 13:1 Gear Set PhosBro Bushings Stock E&L piston LPE Piston Head Lonex Cylinder Head Airlab Sorbo Pad (modified to volume) Stock E&L nozzle Prometheus Cylinder Guarder SP110 Spring (2.5 coils removed) E&L Spring Guide E&L Tappet Plate Gate Titan Mosfet Trigger Short Stroked ZCI Hop Unit (hop arm r-hop modded) Prometheus 6.03 245mm barrel (machined to accept r-hop) SixG Silicone R-Nub Promethus Purple Bucking Stock parts which have been swapped out are all present bar the bevel gear which was donated to someone in need. FPS wise it's 340 on a 0.2gs BB with a variation of +/- 3, ROF is sitting at 16RPS on a 7.4v LiPo. Currently set up to be running 0.28g BBs. Will come with the stock mag and 6 Cyma mags which have been modified to fit. I've probably put about 500 rounds through it, it is noted that the r-hop will take around 2000 rounds to fully settle. Pictures below, note that the optic and sling aren't included in the sale. More than aware I'm going to lose a significant amount based on what it cost to put together, the regular formula lands me around the £800 inlcuding fees and postage mark. If buyer wanted to collect they'd be welcome to some batteries. It's a niche build, with a high price tag and expect it won't go particularly quickly... but does that pricing seem reasonable? I'm aware I could shift it quicker should I, at the very least, removed the ZenitCo bits and sell it largely as stock E&L externally with jazzed up internals. But as noted a few times, really not in a mad rush to part with it... just know I want to part with it. TIA, Alex

  10. I'm going to do this review slightly differnetly from normal. Usually I'd take the AEG to bits and talk about the good and bad parts but there are plenty of youtube videos out there comparing the GBLS to other platforms and very little on what it is like to use one. I'll cover the elephant in the room, the price, later on in the review and give my thoughts. So this is my GBLS and I bought the budget/skeleton kit for a couple of reasons. As much as the full rifle is nice I was never going to keep the supplied rail and was probably always going to make my own verison (Mk18 ish in my case however this might change to a MK16 or L119A2 depending on what I finally settle on). If you have been living under a rock a little bit about what the GBLS is might help..or not. It's not a GBB rifle but it uses a similar design, it's not really a typical AEG but it uses a similar design. Confused? Well the closest thing to it would probably be the TOP M4 shell ejecting M4 but the GBLS doesn't eject shells. Inside the lower receiver you will find the gearbox and in the pistol grip is the motor. In the upper receiver you will find full sized bolt. Inside the bolt is the piston head and spring. The way it works is you pull the charging handle to the rear and when you release it it pushes the bolt forward and chambers a BB in the hop unit. You pull the trigger and this releases the compressed spring which pushes air out the front of the bolt propelling the BB out the barrel. At the same time the gearbox kicks in and cycles the bolt again and loads another BB. If set to semi it does this once. If set to auto it does that until every BB is fired out the magazine and the bolt locks in the rear position and you then take out the mag, replace with a fresh mag and hit the bolt release which loads a BB in the hop. I'm going to be aiming these next comments to people who have been skirmishing a while and use PTW's, GBB's and NGRS's. You know that way on a PTW you can get a quick double tap off quickly and both BB's will mostly likely hit the target. On the GBLS that's not going to happen. Well it will but you are going to have to train with it to get a grip with the recoil as after the first cycle of the bolt your aim will be off by quite a bit. You know the way when you full auto a GBB rifle and the FPS drops about 30 or 40 from the first shot to the 35th shot. Yeah that doesn't happen. The FPS is consistant from BB 1 to BB 60. You know that sound and slight recoil you get when you fire a NGRS well that doesn't happen. You get a very nice kick and quite a loud sound as the bolt slams forward. I'm not having a go at these other platforms as I have them all and enjoy them but the GBLS is just a bit different and in a good way. I'll do a few more comparisons to the other platforms so that the more experienced players get where I'm coming from. On the GBB it's great to have the bolt lock back making you do a mag swap, slap the bolt release and get back in the game. When I run a GBB (MWS, GHK, VFC, or any of the others I run) I'm always concerned that the gas I'm using which was under the site limits at the start of the day is now pushing the BB's above the site limit because it's now the afternoon and it's 10 degrees hotter. I'm also concerned that in the colder months in the UK I'm not getting the best from the platform because it's cold so tend not to use them. The GBLS gives me the mag swaps and the recoil I get from my GBB's but at a consistant FPS the whole year. The recoil is probably just as good as my MWS running sub 350 FPS and if there is a difference it's hardly noticable. On the PTW or a NGRS with a Titan fitted I get some nice snappy shots off. I don't get this on the GBLS. My first shot is snappy and on target but the 2nd shot will need adjusting (GBB people will know what I'm talking about). On the GBLS the trigger pull feels very real. I've heard that the trigger pull was about 10 lb but mine seems to be about 8. It feels very realistic with a nice break and reset. It feels more realistic than my GBB's never mind the PTW and NGRS. My opinion at the moment is the GBLS DAS is more realistic than a PTW or NGRS and more reliable than a GBB. Before I move on to price I'll mention the following. I ordered 2 Nupol 11.1V 30C Lipoi batteries as I thought the GBLS might eat through a battery since it's shifting the heavy bolt back and forward. I used 16 full mags today on 1 battery and there is still plenty of juice left in it so it doesn't seem to be current hungry. I had zero jams, stoppages or feeding problems with the 8 mags I used (although I did loose one somewhere along with a Glock 19 but thats another story!). I took it out the box, set the hop with 0.3g blaster BB's and was easily hitting 55 meters with accuracy and the FPS is running at around 320 (on a 0.2g BB). To be clear I have done nothing to it, straight out the box if fires flawlessly and that leads into the price. So £1350 for a toy gun is quite excessive or is it? Let's have a look at the other toys out there. Let's start with the GBB as this is probably the cheapest platform when comparing it to the rest unless you look at the running costs over a long period of time. So a MWS is around £500 then you add 7 more mags at £45 a pop. Let's also remember that carrying 8 BGG mags is a chore as they weigh a ton. Let's say you want to get the best range out to 55/60 meters so you might chuck in a tightbore and maple leaf rubber and possibly a NPAS to control the FPS. So you are probably looking at about a grand now. TM NGRS can be a bit of a money pit when it comes to getting the best out of them. £550 for the AEG, £150 for the titan, 8 mags at £25 each, tightbore, S hop, new spring and spring guide and possibly reinforced gears to replace the soft TM gears. We are probably at around £1200 now. PTW's are anywhere from £1200 to £2000 depending on the model you buy but then you have spare mags, possibly get the hop sorted, have the electrics waterproofed and then maybe have the motor rewired. God knows the final price of a full tuned PTW. I hate to think how much I've spent over the years on them. At this point you might be seeing the point I'm trying to make. £1350 plus £35 a mag doesn't seem that expensive when you don't have to upgrade/replace/rewire anything and it justs works as advertised out the box and is more realisitc and reliably than the other platforms. Are there any negatives? I know of 1 and heard of another but never experienced it. The electronic board in the gearbox doesn't like to get wet or so I have heard. Tell me a titan or Systema board that does. My only slight gripe is the metal mags rattle a bit inside the magwell. This is genuinely the only negative I could find with the GBLS. Is it the best airsoft gun in the world? well no but it is the most reliably realistic one out there and it's very much a nice experience using it. I'll finish this review of with a couple of notes. I handed it to about 10 team mates today and everyone had a stupid smile on their face after that first shot. I think a few AEG's will be getting sold off shortly to fund a GBLS. I'm probably going to be one of the ones selling other AEG's as I see that there is now a HK 416 GBLS. I'm not in anyway associated with GBLS but if you want to send me the steel bolt and Type B buffer I'm not going to get upset. Just saying.

  18. Fuckin' 'ell, hahahaha! Not sure I entirely/at all agree with the 'sniper' sentiment. Horses for courses I guess but while a well set up bolty can out range RIFs which have to abide low FPS/joule limits I don't tend to think you can make them much/any more accurate than them. Depends on playstyle I guess, but I much prefer not having to walk shit in and land my first 2 shots with a relative degree of certainty. Fuck me! When you said double stacked riser I assumed you meant double rail riser, not full on double stacked mounts.

Be aware that the bolt pull is used to cock the spring so can be quite tough. MUCH harder to pull than a real bolt action. Would be worth trying one in a shop if you can. If that is a problem then an electric rifle (AEG) will be much better and you can still have fun trying to hit a target 😉

  26. Well I went today, first decent skirmish out for me since Covid hit so it was a much needed game. The place was easy to find in Gravesend town centre, parking literally around the back. (Thamesgate car park) Also train station directly opposite. Safe zone was well laid out, lots of space for 90 odd I reckon, there was about 50 playing today. Pyro/BBs/Rental gear/snacks for sale. 3 floors to game on, ground floor really well laid out for cross angles and no choke points / stale areas. 2nd and 3rd floor lots of gear for cover, more technical skills and teamwork required to prevail. Half decent actual loos - thanks Debenhams!! Briefing, full chrono, game explanations are short and concise, no guff but everything covered, I go as far as to say the best I’ve seen yet in my 18 years of playing. Also gameplay was well policed and the whole day had more of an adult feel to it from a sensibility POV. Site limits are upto 350fps on 0.2, BBs 0.32 and below permitted. Semi only. Dont get me wrong there was a couple of obligatory mouthers which were dealt with and LITERALLY a couple isolated hit issues as is par for the course. Marshals did a great job, no grey areas, factual and fun. The whole day seemed to flow well, 98% of the time hits were taken honourably, I think the slightly hotter FPS and BB weight helped as a decent welt gives an undeniable knee jerk reaction 😂 Players were also good making body hits when available, headshots only really when that was all you were sticking up. Also testament to this was me running my GHK AK105U, I took my E&L AK105 as a backup thinking I’d need the firepower/ammo capacity but even being heavily active in all games and only carrying 4x 40rd mags and a Dynatex I only ran dry in one game. So being able to rock that all day was great fun! Think I pumped out 20 mags in all and only one stoppage 😎 Gun variety was a little lacking, sea of AR types obv, 1 other AK, an MP7, a Vector, a shorter, only one other GBBR - a Scar, no bullpups for sure! The days game cost £35, their website is very good for booking. They also do evenings which is cool. The South East has been lacking in decent CQB and I’m pleased this has arrived, bit of a mini Mall and way closer than Reading for me at least!! Oh yeh... not a single MWS out! Couldn’t believe it!

  31. I got a dodgy mk23 barrel (right hooking shots) off them once. I ended up having to ring them. Spoke to me like I was the issue. You literally can't put a mk23 barrel in wrong an shot straight again when returning to the original barrel which I did a couple of times to be sure. Had to push a little to return, and have the post plus the post it cost me to return as I wasn't gonna be £5 out of pocket for them sending me a flawed barrel. Even then had to poke them for my refund after they had received it. It wasn't great but I got my money back eventually.

  33. So for those that dont know im an armoursmith/ blacksmith and ive decided to take on a gun project using these skills. Specifically the ultimax 100 mk 5 because I love the ultimax but Id also like to be able to use my regular m4 mags and that version has a magwell. Made a mockup so far. A v3 gearbox sits about perfect in this but on the real one the upper and lower recievers are welded together. If I did this Id never be able to get the gearbox out. Im probably gonna try to make it in a way that means the rear end cap can come off and the recievers can come apart. One of the main reasons I chose this gun is because its basically just 90 degree boxes for most of the reciever. Ill probably just be brazing on other pieces of metal for all those details on the side of it. Evetything else will be hammered out of 2-3mm steel. I will probably also be getting a friend to 3d print some of the brackets and internal parts for the barrel and hop. Should be a fun project.

  44. More Geoffs bio BBs, this time in 0.30g. Only white + tracer versions this time. Geoffs 'Super Natural Precision' 0.30g Bio BBs Weight: All measured 0.30g Size range: 5.91 - 5.95mm; 0 measured within the 5.95 +/- 0.01mm tolerance. 1 was 5.91mm minimum, 7 were 5.92mm minimum, 12 were 5.93mm minimum. Roundness: 12 measured 0.01mm variation all around, 7 measured with max variation up to 0.02mm, 1 with 0.03mm These trend slightly more towards the smaller side like the other versions - they're especially similar to the 0.25g version. None measured within tolerance, but many were at least 5.93mm minimum which could be borderline/within measurement error due to the limitations of my calipers. Like most of the other Geoffs BBs I've tested they do seem to have good consistency though. These are very similar in softness to the 0.28g version, flattening out rather than fragmenting & needing to be twisted apart. I found air bubbles in one of the BBs. Geoffs 'Natural Precision' 0.30g Bio BBs (tracer) Weight: All measured 0.30g except for one weighing 0.31g. Size range: 5.90 - 5.95mm; 2 measured within the 5.95 +/- 0.01mm tolerance. 1 was 5.90mm minimum, 1 was 5.91mm minimum, 8 were 5.92mm minimum, 8 were 5.93mm minimum, 2 were 5.94mm minimum Roundness: 3 measured 0.01mm variation all around, 15 measured with max variation up to 0.02mm, 1 with 0.03mm, 1 with 0.05mm These seem much better than the 0.28g version, being closer to the specified tolerances and having greater consistency (although still not quite as good as the white versions, but at least these aren't too far off). These felt a bit harder to break apart than the 0.28g version but were slightly more brittle. I found air bubbles in one of them. Forgot to reply to this before - they are available from https://outdoorandtactical.co.uk

  46. the skeleton kit doesn't have the trades and the pistol grip is AEG spec so you can use any AEG pistol grip. Stock choice is the same as a NGRS so if you can fit a 11.1v in it then it will work. I was going to comment on the fact that some people are going to swear by GBB's and forgetting the reason they bought a GBB was that no AEG had a decent recoil but then I noticed you mentioned WE and I came to the conclusion you are just clickbaiting as the 4 WE GBB's I have here a testiment that they are the worst airsoft guns out there.
