Hi, ALL! π So last Sunday, had a Great time at Skirmish Wycombe Airsoft, as @EDcase has mentioned on his status! π«ππ My package turned up on that day, I couldnβt use it, so hopefully for the next game, must test it out? π€π Also hopefully have a new RIF in my collection to test out as well, once I get the right parts? π€π« π·GAMBLEπ·2 points

Someone asked pretty much the exact same question less than a week ago... and arguably better, because at least they gave additional information as to their wants/needs. Link to that thread here. Don't. Be. Lazy.2 points -
You're going to get a bunch of different responses as it's largely a matter of opinion at the end of the day. Also, you're going to get people like me answering truthfully, but unhelpfully; I think the pre-ban Tanaka m700 rifles are the absolute best bolt actions to have ever graced airsoft, but good luck getting one. Heck, even the KJ Works clones are hard to find! *sounds of a salty airsoft sniper who wants one intensifies*2 points

G&G Wildhog 12" upgrades ?
karlos103 and one other reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
the roughly is worth putting a number to, fps variation is a good way of checking the quality of the air seal. eg if you're getting all your shots in a sub 5fps window then you know it's decent enough (unless your a perfectionist in which case reduce that window as required) this can be seen when shooting in vertical dispersion- shots going high/low, you'll know from playing whether or not this is a big enough issue to affect you. as a general rule it's recommended not to go undertaking any major internal work without a backup gun, as someone who didn't heed that advice i can assure you the walk of shame with a broken pew gets old the tenth time you've done it.2 points -

Long time bump but the test has ended. I wrote a final summary here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UEbdWLlQ0mhU6KDJK4WMe1JZ5D6dEQYOkyd7ipUBJ2s/edit?usp=sharing During the time of the test, I have further iterated a superior version of it with textured sides: Which looks like this: The biggest obstacle currently is money ahah. I will have to get some of that first. Work + sell off a bunch of stuff.2 points -
Great weekend at national airsoft festival. Fantastic weather but cold at night. had the fire going so that was good. Games were good. Plenty of walking and stalking. Only two players were stretchered off with broken bones βΉ I took a nasty fall during night game but just bruised and couple of cuts. Met some smashing people from home and abroad and had a lot of laughs. Caught up with a forum member (shadowfacex) great guy to talk to. Turns out he tagged along with us to form a fire team 4 years ago. Overall on the weekend bravo team lost but that don't matter none cause in my mind the whole weekend was a winnerπ and I got seven good kills so bonus lol. Here's to next yearπ Regards2 points

Hi all, so as the title suggests whatβs the difference (other than size) between these 2 MP7s? I can order the umarex one sooner than the TM and was wondering which is better all in all1 point
-
As someone who has worked with multiple VSRs, the TM is the easiest to work with. There are tiny inconsistencies between the clone rifles that you'll only find when you do multiple builds. For example, the JG stock isn't ideal for with the Action Army magazines and can have feeding issues unless you loosen the front bolt a little; too tight and the mags don't click in, too lose and the mags don't feed If I was going to do another build, I'd probably spend the extra Β£60 or so and just use a TM as the base.1 point

Bolt AEG Recoil Rifles
AirsoftRich reacted to AK47frizzle for a topic
They're ok, but nothing special. Had one of their M4s before. The recoil is noticeable but it's just a kinda feels like a rubberband being pinged at you. Looking at patrolbase atm, around 350+ for one of those things. I can't really say i'd recommend it. A TM recoil M4 has much nicer externals.1 point -

Macks airsoft dreamers of the week thread
Rogerborg reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
absolutely this. anyone who gets paid to fix airsoft gnu's calls themselves an airsoft tech, regardless of their qualifications. if you're going to insist that their work adds value then you need to name drop so their reputation can do it for them. otherwise a buyer must only assume that the work was done by billybob who took up airsoft teching after failing his degree in surfing and has only been doing it for a month. and fully upgraded is a meaningless term, has it had literally every part replaced? has everything that could improve performance been done? the answer is no, because nobody replaces every single part and performance is such a wide term that to optimize a build in one aspect precludes optimization elsewhere.1 point -
Paracord wrap adds Β£200, easy.1 point
-
Why start with a TM if you're going to replace the TM parts?1 point
-
Not so much a 'this is overpriced' as it is a 'it might be overpriced'... given how descriptive 'Fully upgraded internals done by a proper technician' but with no actual detail that means it's hard to tell. As is customary a word of advice for the seller, try listing what 'fully upgraded' actually means. Because as it stands you're looking to charge Β£80 more than one could be picked up brand new and entirely unfucked with, and there isn't much detail to justify why someone might do that.1 point

you need to be using a tool like a lathe to finish the end of the barrel. you'd be as well buying a new, shorter, inner barrel rather than trying to cut.1 point -

The plan is that we do get a FOB, i still have to hump gear to the fob. Where i have taken medic role i also need to carry my share of bandages and the load carrying for the bandages. I think my load out is as light as i can get it but it is the extra, the clothes, sleep system and food that are bulking. It might be that i gain a fob bag to carry which would contain safe to leave gear, again with the repack on the friday. A big part if the issue lies in my use of public transport to get (most of the way) to site.1 point -

Personally, until you've played a few times with the gun to get a feel for it, I'd be looking at things to improve your accuracy and overall enjoyment of playing etc. For example... # Do you have a red dot sight of any sort for quick and easy targeting? # Do you have a sling so that you're not carrying it around the whole time tiring out your arms? # What weight of BB are you using? ... all which are things that can potentially make you more effective and don't involve any internal modification of your gun. Also with such a long gun I'm assuming you play outdoors so maybe consider other "non gun" additions that improve things for you, for example one of my best purchases were decent Alta Industries knee pads that allow me to drop to my knees quickly and stay like that for however long I want (I'm becoming very useful now at my home site spending ages low down behind hardcover).1 point

G&G Wildhog 12" upgrades ?
karlos103 reacted to Speedbird_666 for a topic
The only upgrade I would put on the gun (you've already changed the barrel) is a Perun ETU++, as the stock one (depending on version) can be finicky with batteries. Otherwise, leave it well alone and get out and play instead.1 point -

Hi and welcome to airsoft! βUpgradingβ an airsoft gun isnβt black and white, as above you need to figure if and what you need to upgrade. No 2 guns are the same. First off get yourself a chrono, some targets and a place you can target shoot, ideally upto 60M but 30 will work. Use the chrono to check for shot FPS/power consistency. Once you know the FPS you can select a better BB weight. Use the targets to tube your hop, work out how tight your groupings are, what your max range is and your effective range. Once you have this βbenchmarkβ you can make changes and see if it has genuinely improved your gun, because most upgrades end up being downgrades1 point

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Badgerlicious reacted to Impulse for a topic
Yeah, a bright white shirt will definitely do it, but mad props for keeping the cartel look all day with it; I was honestly expecting more, as last time there were quite a few loud shirts out, but this time there were very few. I think I might've hit you a few times on the flank near the field as I saw and shot at a white shirt a few times so I had to move because I was sure you were zeroing on my position when a burst went right over my head! I think we need to play down in Paradise more. There are some pretty long sight lines, but there's also quite a few ways to break line of sight, and plenty of foliage to ruin shots. I think it'll be more manageable when players learn how to play it, but we never get the opportunity1 point -

Hey guys, I've told you before to try and use Begadi VSR5 60degrees buckings, well, I am sorry, but I have to take my words back. They make a good airseal but its made from not good enough rubber for gbbr's on 15+ oC temperature it gets too swollen up and then it starts acting weird especially on full auto mag dumps. IT worked well when i was playing in the summer ( 25/30 oC), but yesterday my gun started acting on me and I found out that the reason for misfires/doublefeeds and bad full auto mag dumps - was the swollen bucking. TLDR: best to avoid Begadi VSR5 60degrees for MWS/MTR systems. This bucking only went through ~500 rounds1 point

It's a Phoenix Tactical Echo Holster http://www.phoenixtacticalgear.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=20_63&product_id=56 on a knockoff Safariland mid-ride. The leg strap is just a cheap FMA one looped through the gap between the holster and the mid-ride.
