    What have you made?

In the middle of adding a load of blower fans to my helmet when I came across this little gem https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/tool/amp-arc-rail-comtac-iii-adapter now us Peltor using hobbits can still have the sexy OPS core AMP mounts with out paying out £80 for the AXL adapters or £1500 for replacement AMPs although still jelly of the 3d amplified hearing on the AMPs its almost like video game hacks. Loving this thread BTW.

It looks fucking sick dude. I hope you exaggerate the recoil when you fire it because it's just a massive hand cannon I'd hate to see it pew pew pew BBs and not BANG BANG Yes I make noises for my WH40k miniatures too.

  3. Went to InRange today to spend a couple of hours on the range to test the WE AK74 PMC.... Quite impressed..shoots really well and blown away that I don't need to alter anything as even on Red Gas it's still below 350fps and I get almost 3 reloads on the 40rnd mags...

  4. there really is no set size for lips, or pretty much anything. I'm testing a couple of new gearbox shells right now and I'm swopping out parts like you wouldn't believe trying to get the best fit - it's just the nature of the beast and something you need to accept when tinkering.

  7. Having ordered a new bolt carrier and having extra nozzles, I thought I would put another BCG together , to allow quicker and less fiddly changes when the temperature drops/rises and effects my FPS. well low and behold I only went and lost a critical little piece of shit £3.95 plastic that holds the whole fcuking thing together😂 Thats not including ridiculous shipping IF they had it in stock The same piece is only valued at £1.00 on Samoon’s store!! 🤬 Sold out everywhere in UK as Samoon in Thailand aren’t shipping to the uk just now, and I need one by Thursday to allow me to head up to Inverness for the big game there this weekend Long story short, I was able to craft a couple out of a piece of nylon water pipe that just happened to be the exact thickness needed that was laying outside abandoned at the back of the garden!! So some patience and a scalpel blade or two got me out of the woods. Also been saved by Facebook and somebody very kindly is supplying me with a few originals 👌🏻 Here’s what I needed & here’s my makings :

    Airsoft Sites!

there's always an aspect to a game folk don't like. simple games (for a hobby where understanding the complex rules such as when you get hit your out, don't shoot people after they put their hand up, don't be an ass etc are often too complex for grown men to adhere to) can be handy for preventing undue conflict. However, a fixed respawn team deathmatch wether there's macguffins thrown in or not will always descend into a boring stalemate defined by whichever team ran fastest out of spawn and got all the good spots. complex games tend to descend into chaos the first time they're tried, folk forget rules. of course if its played often enough to the point where the marshall can go "it's the doodadamajig game" works fine for regulars, except where newcomers raise their hand at the start to ask the rules and had a 3-page rules list explained in 30 seconds. then regulars lose their shit because they missed the bit where they were only supposed to respawn 3 times after the first 2 flags had been captured but only once if the enemy team had crossed the bridge but back to unlimited if the defenders manage to get 4 whirligig's around the vip. it's why i'm a fan of the simple fall-back, simple enough that *most* folk can get their head around the concept and keeps the game moving so a stalemate can be broken by effort rather than simply waiting 30 minutes. but then plenty of people hate fall back games because the defending team always "loses", because apparently you can't have fun if you aren't winning.

  9. 17 Hours later, I have half a stock: Print came out really nice though. Other half has just started I'm spending so much time printing stuff now (airsoft isn't my only hobby) that I'm seriously toying with the idea of buying (or even building) another printer. I'm really tempted to go down the Voron route for high-speed printing goodness.

  10. So, not a review per se of their Alton (near Winchester) site, more a few notes on my day there today (22/8/2021) with myself + my son + his two cousins (12 + 11 + 13, and all good sensible boys taking their hits and playing fair, with the 11 year old being a "Silver" rental). To start with I have to say it's the best site I've been to yet in the almost year I've had since playing airsoft, my son really liked it and it's his new no1 site (we've played mixed indoor / outdoor and full on indoor CQB). I didn't take any photos as I was having too much fun, which is what it's all about, and the Google Streetview points all around the site pretty much show it as it is however it was a little more overgrown than shown and all the better for it (snipers could properly hide, one game not moving onto the next round when everyone though it was over as he was so well hidden) and there was lots of good green cover). It was a nice day in the end, mild and sunny, however I think once winter hits it could get quite muddy and you'll loose the leaves of the trees so maybe easier to spot others with more ambient light). There's definitely small stone / flint about here and there so I was very glad to have good "Alta Industries" knee pads which helped a lot with keeping low. It's a big site, the car park, safe zone and the various gameplay "zones" they have (most of which are in the forest). The briefing and chrono were both good, however the marshals were very good being nice and loud for all to hear them and pushing on teams that were slacking, plus friendly. Site shop pricing was very fair for ammo and stuff, but I'd say bring your own food as the variety offered was just book in advance pizzas and chocolate and crisps (but lots of chilled drinks). The toilets were clean and well looked after, for me a sign of somewhere that cares about their image. The safe zone was good, but be aware that only a third or so of the picnic benches are under cover so if it's a rainy day get there early to claim a covered one. I'd say a solid 8 to 9 out of 10, and will definitely be going back. Edit: I think a good part of the day going well was due to this guy... https://www.instagram.com/sheezdog/ .. who was the head marshal / managing the games, and on the day was always polite and friendly no matter how many lame questions I put his way. Edit 2: And keep your eyes out for an almost new PTS EPM 1 mag out there somewhere 😢 (I should never have let my son borrow it, they're so damned expensive, and to be honest a wind up high cap feeds my DE M904E just as well)

  11. Well, a lot of work later and shes finished. HPA'd STAR L86. R-hopped 550mm IB, Polarstar F2 engine inside a custom designed and 3D printed gearbox, custom wiring and microswitches, modifications done to fit the IGL, and more. Max range about 85m (not accurate range for you haters). Im happy. Still need to sort out the two side pins behind the magwell, look into adding a grip of some sort if needed, and toss a light on it.

    1 point
  14. so it's missing fire selector parts, bonus points for inclusion of the "it's an easy fix" line. especially given ambi selectors reputation for being a pain in the proverbial. it's has some sort of gearbox work in the past, but no specifics as to the parts or the tech who installed them, which given the range of quality of work you see in this hobby could well see it worse than just stock. barrel extended through the suppressor, not strictly a bad thing in itself but wonder wether it's been volume matched...... descriptions of good firing, which will always need taken with a pinch of salt, even ignoring the bias of the sellers own description it's a perceptive description and what one person thinks is good another may not. broken red dot, un-named magnifier half a sling, apparently you get the other half with a plate carrier? at least you get a magpul stock and larue risr... oh wait..... and this is apparently worth pretty much double the rrp?

  19. Sounds like you need one of the newer AUBLs. Depending on whether you run a torch or use a very oddly-shaped gun the GLS is going to be your best bet too. Lozart, I unfortunately forgot my non-duty belt platform at the house before leaving on my current work trip so I cant provide pics currently, but I found an better (IMO) way to mount the strap. I took a soldering iron and a leg strap and soldered a hole through it (could also drill and melt the edges like fusing a rope), and drilled a hole through the lowest portion of one of my AUBLs, then bolted it together using a short Safariland bolt and a weld nut. It sits like a UBL, doesnt bunch up in the crotch, and holds to the leg like a leg drop. Maybe give it a try if the knock-off UBL is capable.

On the Xbox you can share games with your family group - I think only one other console in fairness though. https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/help/hardware-network/console/my-home-xbox (navigate down to "how game sharing works") Could have saved yourself some beer tokens there.

  26. Yeah - I guessed as much 🙂 Me and my boys have been playing SWAT4 on LAN over the last week or so. My older two (who also play Airsoft) like to play it 'proper' tactical; stacking on doors, breaching and banging rooms, arresting suspects and screaming 'room clear!' over Discord. My youngest on the other hand equips the grenade launcher and shotgun, runs around killing everyone (including us and the hostages) declaring it's 'slow and boring' compared to Fortnite. Bloody kids.

  31. I've had a few GBBRs and realistically, the KJW KC02 (or ASG Special teams carbine) is hard to beat. I run mine at 0.9 joules for cqb. Theres so much you can do with one, the performance is excellent, mags are well priced.

  32. I second what Cyberlawer has said about the MWS. The immersion is right up there with the recoil, the bolt carrier group movement and of course the bolt stop (the latter two which you can get with some brands of AEG). And let’s not forget the lo-cap magazines (circa 32 rounds per mag). The bottom line is it’s such a fun replica to use. However, you will need to adapt your style of play in so far as you can kiss your auto days goodbye. With auto brings potential cool down of the mags as an example and of course the lo-cap limit of the mags.

  33. IMO the TM 416 is the best OOTB one you’ll get, the ‘low’ FPS is not a problem, if you compare it to any other 416 in stock form it will have a longer effective range than any other despite its low FPS. For a Delta or Devgru variant the only actual mod you need to do is wire it to deans so you can use quality LiPo’s. Its also the best for immersion/realism without the drawbacks of GBBR. (recoil, bolt lock) It has great externals, controls, the best hop unit of all the NGRS series and the magazines are quality and inexpensive. Its cheap to run, holds its value and has a great upgrade path for the future. Best Dave

  34. I enjoy those filmsim games immensely, for exactly the reasons that you give. I enjoy skirmishes but do like a bit more complexity. I enjoy milsim but a lot of players move with all the grace of an elephant and the speed of a sloth with a broken leg. They can end up a bit larpy tbh. Signing up for a 24 hour game and the opposition all bed down for six hours is crap. Doing the full immersion bit during the day, a few beers round the campfire at night and then go again next morning is the perfect mix; for me at least.

    First time GBBR?

I love gas. The sense of immersion is so much better than with AEG as they just feel like sewing machines to me now. Even the ones with recoil aren’t as satisfying as a good GBBR. That said for a regular skirmish (and depending on how you play) you may find yourself at a disadvantage compared to the AEG wielding masses in terms of putting down weight of fire. To my mind the best two GBBRs available right now are the Marui MWS if the M4 platform is your thing or the WE Apache if you are an Mp5 kind of guy. But then I may be biased as I own more than one of both types.

    Airsoft Sites!

I do like designated medics, it really helps to keep groups together and adds a little roleplay. My best woodland day was doing sniper/medic, and mostly the latter - lots of crawling through the undergrowth to sneak a medic tag onto folks' boots.

    Airsoft Sites!

Okay thanks for the reply's. I am just gonna say, I am not throwing a tantrum or anything like that, Its more of a question to see what you guys think to sites gameplay. I have been to probably 8 different airsoft sites and really only come across 1 or 2 that really utilise all of the facilities they have and have really cool and intuitive gameplay, multi game objectives etc etc.... I think maybe my rant might have lost its context but I am sure we have all been through it when you come away from a days airsofting thinking, meh that could have been better and come away at the end of the day going, that was awesome....I wanna find more of those sites. So they run a fairly simply medic rule, to every 5 or 10 players there will be a medic, which has different coloured tape on their arms along with the tape of their team. So to get back into the game, you have a 60 second bleed out time before you can walk back to spawn or wait till a medic gets to you, they tend to give the medics out to guys who are familiar with the site and by doing this guys who are new to the site tend to stick with guys that know the site and it works really really well, breaks down barriers of getting the team to work well together and creates groups of guys who have comms who can communicate with other groups, I know its a simple rule and I am sure it has its downsides but the few times I have been to the site the rule just makes the day run amazingly well. The site that adopts this game has a very large site and tends to attract a lot of players, they run a game on the first Saturday of each month and run multi objective games that last some time, tends to be first game is a couple of hours, the 2 long games in the afternoon.

  39. And we know that the laws don't make much sense when you could go and buy an airgun that looks identical with nothing more than a bit of ID, but we are where we are. We generally recommend renting for 3 games (over a period of at least 8 weeks) to get a UKARA defence, but if you don't want to wait, buying two-tone is a viable option.
    1 point
  40. Firstly - welcome 1) Tan does not count as two tone. Bright colours (such as red, green, yellow, blue etc) are required for IFs (Imitation Firearms). Basically, it has to be a bright, unrealistic colour, and Tan is not that. 2) It's not a license - it's a defence. If you spray a two-tone gun black, you are manufacturing a RIF (Realistic Imitation Firearm), for which you need said defence to do so. Scroll down in this very forum section and you will see that this has all been answered many times over.

    Airsoft Sites!

@Gigy Beast did you not feel you could speak to the staff/boss about your "issues", some are approachable & may welcome constructive criticism/feedback if it helps to improve the gaming experience, & they in turn may have enlightened you regarding why some parts of the site are not in use ?. Personally I've always found it to be proactive to do this, what's the worst they could say "feck off & don't come back", which would also be very informative as to their attitude & how hard you thrash the shit out of them on every online platform available 😏

  42. Um..ok... Meanwhile - In other news: Now printing it 'properly' at 100% infill, with a channel for a 5mm steel rod to be glued within it. Each half will take 14 hours to print and the whole thing will be 3D printed (two sides and the butt pad as a separate print) with the stock 'fixed' in position. I'll be hitting it with filler primer and sanding it to smooth out the layer lines, then spray it with matte black paint. If anyone has any ideas on how to try replicate that 'moulded plastic roughness' surface finish that you get on polymer bodied guns, it would be much appreciated. They look very cool. I'll be interested to hear how they perform.

  45. I’ll spare the full run down unless someone actually wants it, but I officially think I’m ‘there’ in terms of my ideal kit. Took a lot of trial and error to get there, but extremely happy with where it’s ended up. Swapping between AK and AR is a simple case of changing placard on the chest rig.

  46. A quick and nasty print to test fitment - 0.30 layer height (accidentally left the upper and lower skin thickness at 0.12 which also doesn't help) and a very low infill leaving a rough finish. Fitment was damned near perfect - just needed the hinge holes opening up a little and a relief hole drilled for the gearbox screw that protrudes a little. Test print was done in two halves then glued - I'm considering creating a channel for a bent steel rod to be sandwiched between the halves for reinforcement before epoxying them together. The final print would be done at 100% infill with a much smaller layer height (around 0.12mm) to smooth things out. Haven't worked out the rear (sliding) bit yet - probably an aluminium tube and 3D printed bushing and stock pad. I'll probably not bother with a sprung button mechanism, rather glue the metal button in place and have it non-folding. Real Steel: Yes, it's ugly. But I like it. Very popular with French and German Police forces - they also use them on MP5s and I've never seen one on an Airsoft gun.
