  1. ‘Why is gas stored in the magazines?’ Because it keeps leaking out when you try to store it in your pocket .

  3. Also seems to be because Luke builds guns for reliability, rather than the 349.9FPS & 60RPS on a hair-trigger that many of the sub-25 year old airsofters are obsessed with.

  4. Because he mocks them mercilessly and accurately, see his latest Skyler video. From the little I've seen of Reddit, it isn't a community, it's a cleared space in the forest floor where peacocks strut and display. On giving advice, I'm actually quite loathe to do it since it would be better for someone like @Sitting Duck to share what he knows versus what worked for me once. It's a quandary, if people only post when they really, really know what they're talking about, then all forums and groups would be pretty lonely and empty. Then you can go the other way with Reddit and particularly Facebook when someone ask "wut am bests..." and all you get is a vomitous tide of "WUT I JUTS BORT!!!" assertions without context, nuance, evidence or any real experience with the alternatives.

  5. Please note that for radios there are two legal types: PMR446 operates on the UK legal frequency range. You don’t need any licence etc. They work perfectly well at the normal distances played in airsoft Baofengs should be operated on a licenced frequency, so you need to buy a licence. They are commonly programmed to illegally operate in the PMR446 range - they are overpowered and can be programmed out of the range so are not legal to operate unless you purchase your own licence or programme them to operate on someone else’s licenced frequency with their permission The description for other linked handset does not identify its frequencies, but its maximum power exceeds PMR446 levels. So it also needs a licence, and needs to be able to be set to the frequencies provided to the licensee The simple answer is PMR446. Any make, any model. You just need to try to stick to a similar generation as throughout the years the frequencies have been slightly expanded upon. Buy a pair of a current model and you can talk to each other plus the majority of PMR users if you wish (There are plenty of primary and sub ‘channels’ available if you just want to communicate between the pair of you and avoid others) When choosing a model check the battery options. Supplied rechargeable battery packs will last the day or a weekend for most people But if you’re very vocal, when they start to get old, or if you forget to charge them then it’s very useful to have ones that you can pop out the battery pack and put in some AAAs etc

  7. I was talking with Luke at Battle Lakes and he had the DSG MP5 he built himself to prove a point. One pull of the trigger to demonstrate the ROF and somebody immediately sprinted around the corner, asking how much to build one for him.

  9. My martial arts centre re-opened this week, so I'm back to my main form of exercise. Hoping the weight is going to start flying off now, since the only exercise I really do outside of it is airsoft and cycling when I need to go somewhere. Airsoft is every 2 weeks and cycling to go somewhere is like... maybe once a week? But now it'll be at least twice a week with two martial arts sessions and then airsoft every two weeks. Time to get rid of the rest of this weight!

  10. ….. or xxxxx who used my gun with a camouflage paint scheme and lost most of my magazines in the first game of the day (because they are camouflaged) Then spent the rest of the day reloading one magazine, and at the end of the day hunting the lost ones again, roped in others to help him look for the lost ones …. and finally when telling me they were lost and going off together for a last look around —— “Where did you start & where did you go for the first game?” ”I ran over to there, sat by that bush, shot some players then went over to….” ”Do you mean that bush over there? The one with a stack of magazines beside it?” (Dare I mention that this was an urban game with few spots of green which should have reduced the number of places needing to be ‘searched’ as camouflage stands out a bit on grey concrete)

    CYMA Shotties

Cyma spring shotties are good fun and really cheap. I picked up a breacher style cyma from the boneyard at patrolbase (all that was wrong was the loading gate needed filing down to prevent snagging) So far i have only shot it in my back garden, as i have only been to one CQB game since i bought it, but didnt take it with me as the site also had woodland areas i felt were unsuitable for a spring shotty.

  12. yeah, personally i'd rather: but that does require further dissassembly. would be good if more guns had a system similar to the RS svd which afaik has a little lever hidden in the magwell that actuates the arl.

  18. That's where PMR446 radios come in. They're generally very simple, just pick a channel out of 16 and push-to-talk. On all but the most basic you can select a CTCSS "sub channel", but realistically at a typical airsoft site you won't have to, just switch to another channel if you get cross-talk. They are fun and add another aspect to the LARPing, but consider the difficulty in communicating with or inspiring fellow airsofters even when they're in the same foxhole.

  19. The only thing funnier than friendly-frag is medic-and-double-friendly-frag. Have you seen the latest teaser from the Depot's Facebook page? 12th September is being whispered, no idea where yet though or if it'll be a mates-only trial game.

  20. Intriguing. 2W is way over the PMR 0.5W limit, and there's no reason that you couldn't build something usable at that price given that the mind-bogglingly well featured UV-5R comes in at just a bit more for a pair. They could be a peach or a lemon, you'd have to take a gamble to find out. I'd see if there are any Amazon reviews for those or equivalents. If you do push the boat out a little, the UV-5Rs are great, and favourites with sites. They are decent out of the box with good range, long battery lives and more features than you could ever use (I use mine as an FM radio to play the bangin choons of Smooth FM) However, that's actually a downside of them. You can make them talk to just about anything, but the interface is unintuitive and I'm forever forgetting how to (e.g.) set CTCSS sub-channels on them. Something simpler might actually be an asset.

  21. That... is not inaccurate, lol. I don't think the spawns helped you much, especially as we had people pushing through the woodland to deny the spawns of your main base, meaning a hill climb to spawn back. Though you were certainly giving us a hard time over the full field! There was a good fight for Tower at the end of the day. I do love the larger field games with multiple objectives, I think I prefer them to the more focused meat grinder of the usual games. Worthing is also certainly a site where mega range doesn't give you a huge advantage, especially in spring/summer, as you said. So I did get a nice four shots, four kills with my pistol after having taken a weapon hit about 15 minutes earlier. Definitely the most action it's seen in a day, lol.

  22. I use a UV-5R+ (it's a UV-5R with more metal bits) and it's fantastic. Cheap and cheerful definitely describes it and I've managed to convince a bunch of my friends to radio up because it's not as expensive as we all thought. Radios are like... the most slept on piece of kit for any airsoft loadout. Having comms, even if it's just with 1 other person, is so incredibly useful and I wholly endorse more people radio-ing up.

  23. I mean this happens everywhere and in every hobby. The key part is doing your own research rather than just blindly buying what someone recommends. But in general, if most people recommend something, then there is a good chance that it is good.

  28. Because he is a marmite person and the way he is can get under certain peoples skin. Most people with a big personality have as many haters as fans, price of not being totally bland. One doesn't have to be exclusive from the other but they are rare as most airsoft "techs" are dim witted monkeys who try to earn a living from their hobby as they can't make it in a real job.

    CYMA Shotties

Some of the best gaming fun I’ve had has been at short timescale limited type of gun to use games . When you’ve only got pistol mag and shotgun shell capacities being used by everyone at the game it certainly gets the adrenaline flowing ! 🥵🥵😂😂👍

The good thing is they aren't that expensive. I got mine from Taiwangun before Brexit so I only spent like... £60 all in for the shotgun, 6 extra shells (for 9 total) and a molle attachment for the shells, but even from the UK it's still sub-£100.

    G&G GR25 Malfunction

Yes, the design of the V2 gearbox is such that if you spam the trigger then you can end up with the cut off lever out of whack which then locks the gearbox. Usually on a select fire gun you can switch to auto, fire a burst and then you're away again. You can unlock the gearbox by either doing what has been suggested above (although with the obvious caveat that if you lose an eye we never told you to do it) or by taking off the pistol grip and unlatching the anti reversal latch. To stop it happening again, your best bet is to fit a decent mosfet that can do full cycle completion (Gate Titan or Aster, Perun V2 Hybrid etc). That way the gun will not fire again until the gearbox has cycled fully and the cut off lever won't end up out of place again. It also means you can set up precocking which is lovely and great for a DMR type gun. You can achieve this with a lower spec mosfet such as a Gate Warfet but it's a bit more hit and miss and takes more setting up because you need to tune the ROF control to slow you down enough to not lock up and precocking is again doable but needs a bit more judgement on getting it in the best place.

I check those forums occasionally and I just laugh at the advice given. Stay safe and stay here is my advice! There will always be chumps who give bad advice, We know who they are and in our little way we laugh at them!

  41. Had a fantastic day today, even if the games were suuuuuper imbalanced. One team had a dominant position which made it super easy to hold the objectives (which they did), and they had the stronger players so it was a massive stompfest (I was not on this team... 🤣) Still it was great fun, since I decided to stop trying to attack their bases when it was clear our team was woefully outmatched and instead took the Viet Cong approach of hiding in the bushes and just making life difficult for the other team. I got so many people with my silent HPA VSR and mk23 combo and so many bewildered players looking around confused trying to see where they got hit from, even though I was just wearing a short sleeve t-shirt and a leafy hood thing I bought from Russia for £25. However, it really highlighted how 1J builds are better at my local site during the summer. It's thick woodland, so the sight lines are generally pretty crap at this time of the year and a lot of shots I took were either with the mk23 within my MED, or they were at a range I could hit with a 1J gun (like 60m or less)

    Ak12 Low Joules

Nice gearbox inside this Arcturus, radiused, reinforced and QD spring. I had to cut more than a coil from my M100 spring, heat up the end, straighten them smooth it out. Cycling between 1.14-15-16J now. RPS sucks though, 12, thinking maybe change the motor or put in some 16:1 gears, apparently it comes with 18:1 inside. Stock motor couldn't pull back and M130 spring I tried in it, just choked.

  43. If gas is stored internal you reduce the volume of available gas you may only have room for the same amount of gas as one mag making the gun only good for 100 or so shots. That maybe sufficient but it is restrictive and you also have the risk of the seals going mid game on the tank making the gun useless where as if a mag seal goes in game you just switch. It's been done manufacturers no longer do it

  47. I was supposed to play tonight, but thank God we didn't have enough people Anyway, we managed to play two night games, last Friday and Wednesday, pretty challenging as seeing stuff is impossible and using a torch is a death sentence. night games in the woods are 99% reliant on noise, so gameplay was a bit stagnant, but fun nonetheless. Note to self: mk23 as a primary next time and LAM upgrades.

    What have you made?

Not exactly airsoft related but doing this little project I think has given me the confidence I need to try some of the Airsoft sewing projects I've put off. It helped that I've finally found a sewing machine that doesn't fill me with frustration and hate.
