  4. Heya all. I just picked up one of the new Ares Kel-Tec RDBs. This is the first and probably only generation of these AEGs. I am always loathe to be the first to buy a brand new just released rifle ever since the KWA Tavor GBBr disaster. But... It's a bullpup, and I must have it. With the Ares RDB I was mostly right to be reticent. Looks: Great, the box is similar to the real Kel Tec rifle ones. The Replica looks fantastic. Quite accurate to look at. The Plastic is of very high quality Nylon Fibre. The metal feels like standard Ares Pot metal. Internals: Usual Ares Trash, not that I expected any less. This essentially took the standard Ares Soc-AR gearbox, Quick change spring system, Ferrite motor, innards and mosfet, replaced the cylinder with a one piece cylinder/cylinder head type and called it fine. To be fair the Ares Mosfet is a monster, hall sensors everywhere, whilst it has no real additional functionality, it is made of quite substantial components. The proprietary hop unit is.... meh. The plastic used is sturdier then it's orange appearance would have you believe. Unlike other Ares hop units, this one probably wont adjust by itself upon firing. Sadly the arm has a built in plastic nub, so you will need to modify it to use a rubber nub. The standard bucking is the usual ultra soft Ares rubber which tears easily. I replaced this with a Prommy Purple straight away. Hop adjustment is made in the magwell (So have to remove the magazine) by a small flathead screwdriver supplied within the RDB's pistol grip. The stock barrel is an awfully made 450mm brass barrel with a small hop window. This was changed out for a ZCI 420mm straight away. Fit and Finish: This is where the problems were very close to me returning it. The Outer Barrel and gas tube/Top Rail do not align, much like the 1st gen G&G GK5's and 1st gen Krytac M4's. I had to take the outer barrel apart to align it close enough to shoot straight. Sadly this also means trying to get the handguard pin back in is a nightmare as the pin hole on the gas tube/outer barrel bracket is now at a slight angle. I suspect this is actually an inherent design flaw rather then something specific to mine. If you want to see if your RDB has this issue, just look from the top down at the front of the rail and see if it aligns with the outer barrel extension, my extension is cockeyed to the left. I cant get the flash hider off from the barrel extension. Its stuck on fast and I need to get the heatgun out to see if that will shift it. The gearbox shimming is awful as per usual for Ares. the motor is weak, but the mosfet bullies the AEG into having reasonable performance on 11.1v. As per usual I will be replacing these bits ASAP. Performance: It's not particularly awful, I need to spend some time with the hop unit to get it working as best as it could, even with the prommy purple and ZCI barrel, its performance is lacking a little, range falling short of most of my other AEG's. ROF is fine. FPS was 330 out of the box with a stock M90 spring, dropping to 320 when I installed the shorter ZCI barrel. It's a quick change spring system so I put in a spare M95 to bump the performance up to 347 fps. At least it shoots straight after being beaten into shape by yours truly. Would I recommend it?: Like most bullpups, you have to love the system, be prepared to invest some physical labour and Teching to get it working to an acceptable standard. So for your average user... no. I do LOVE the look of the rifle and the way it feels in hand. If you insist on buying one, try seeing it in person beforehand to see if it has the barrel misalignment issue that I had. Frankly, it's Ares, and I got what I expected, good ideas, good on paper, but woefully implemented. 5. Hi, ALL! 👋 Got paid this week, 1/3 payments! 😁 So decided to by a new rig for my SMG, which hopefully works? Also got 2 extended mags turn up today, so can’t wait to use them this Sunday! 😆 Hopefully weather gets better! 🤞 💷GAMBLE💷

  7. I use 2 second fill, then do the next mag and rotate around the 5 mags until all have had a 10 second fill in total. Easily enough for 3 mags worth of BBs (either modded Gen1 or stock Gen 2 TM MWS mags) If you over fill the mag you end up with lots of liquid in them (so lots of shots) BUT not much of a gas layer above which is what propels the BB. After a couple of shots you will need to wait for more of the liquid to boil off into gas and get up to pressure before you have enough for the next shot. Less of an issue in hot climates but for the UK it can be a pain as there isn’t much residual heat in the mag body to do this or avoid cool-down.

    80's 90's dump poutch?

Yep, we were big on "blousing" back in the day, plus the 68' pattern smock had what we affectionately called a "bumflap", essentially a flap at the back that could tuck between your legs & secure on the inside front of your smock, meant for extreme weather etc, but used with the drawstring meant you could drop a family's week shopping inside your smock & drop nothing, especially handy when raiding the NAAFI for crisps & choccies 🐷

  10. I do agree with this comment 100% , what ever your selling is worth what someone is willing to pay for it . BUT I think you’ve missed the point of my post , my point is there are items for sale that have been up for sale for mths or even years that NO ONE is ever going to buy at the asking price but the sellers blindly refuse to drop their asking price at all , that’s what my post is about . 👍

  11. Hi all, I began playing airsoft back in 94’ with springers then stopped in 2000 to pick it up again three years ago. im interested to see if there’s other players local who would be interested in meeting up for a game? I can only do one a month currently due to family commitments. Thanks, Edd.

  14. black looks great as long as iot is clean and sharp. when it starts to wear and break in then i think its a different question. keep it shiny as long as its... shiny then paint it.

  15. Just picked up the just released Ares RDB to go with my KSG. Its... an interesting rifle that is probably not worth the hassle.

Hi @remus! 👋 Funny, I’m playing Metro Exodus, just makes me want to continue my Apocalyptic Loadout! 🤪 Also have modified my RPK, with some additional parts, still might give it more? 🤔 Also got my favourite side arm, which on its own can be a primary weapon, with some good range! 🤪👍 💷GAMBLE💷

  24. Depends if you ever want to sell it. Painting it no matter how good a paint job lowers value. However if you are going to keep it do what ever makes you happy.

  25. I reckon there's relatively little in airsoft that can have a "market worth" put on it. Volumes are too low, and there are so many variants and differences in condition. Markets work when buyers are selecting from a range of comparable sellers, and going with the lowest price (or best value service). Not so much when we're saying "Yeah, it would cost £X new, if anyone had it, but they don't". or "Something a bit like that, but not really, might have sold for £Y, three months ago, maybe."

  26. Hi Edd & welcome! Gloucester's not a million miles away but I won't be venturing too far until the summer's over. It's definitely on my list of places to visit so will give you a shout when I start planning it, although it sounds like your weekends are as busy as mine! - do strikeforce do midweek games? Figure I'd best also get in a shout for @GAMBLE's YouTube channel - always worth a look. Cheers.

  29. Both @Grootand @Druid799are right But I don’t agree on ‘being used to buying at below what it’s worth’ ‘Worth’ is a widely changing variable - what is X worth for Fred to buy, and what is C worth for Bob to sell? Somewhere amongst that is ‘market value’ The market value of X could be less than Bob is willing to sell at. So the supply in the market drops (or Bob lists at his price and refuses to sell below) The market value of X could be more than Fred is willing to pay, so the demand drops Supply and demand fluctuate all of the time. Certain RIF designs are everywhere —- M4s etc, and other RIF designs less so. The materials, build quality and internals could be identical but two ‘identical’ RIFs in different body styles will have different desirabilities There will be seasonal variations - in winter it’s cold, wet & miserable and you have to buy aunt Enid a Christmas present - slippers would do, but if you throw in a case of Babysham too she’ll slip a few extra notes into your card. Sell last years RIF before Christmas and you could get back more via Enid to buy this years shiney RIF So the pre-Xmas market gets flooded and prices drop, followed by Boxing Day shopping and prices begin to rise. Wait until your birthday in Spring and you get more cash just in time to get back to playing - another potential rise in the market when the sellers see how desperate the fair weather players are in the wanted ads as they now have no guns.

  32. Have you tried it spun around so the angle is forward facing at all? If it’s not for you, then it’s not for you but I find the BCM one the best by a mile personally… but only with the angle facing forward.

  33. I missed 58 pattern webbing by a long margin, but on my combat infantryman course, down the front of the smock was the SOP taught as part of the training. While not as much as a ball ache as 58 pat it was still much quicker than getting mags back in a PLC pouch. No idea what the actual training manual said, but the front of smock method was RSM approved and everyone did it. Our CQMS used to carry a bunch of ‘off the books’ mags so if you did drop one (there were a few losses every exercise) you could still sign in your full compliment of mags so you didn’t get charged for the loss.

  34. good to know... added the vest to my shopping list i just knew that would set SOMEONE off =P Nothing too exciting in this weeks haul... Can of green gas and some more Valkyrie bbs. Also bought a replacement drinking tube for my Source Rider hydration bladder... was wearing the it at CQB last weekend, but someones shot managed to hit the collar that clipped the adapter onto the hose =( (3rd pic shows damage) Also took the oportunity to buy an adapter so i can refill the bladder from a tap or a bottle while its still on my back

  35. Op, I don't entirely agree with you. Something is worth, what someone else is willing to pay for it. Yes. If it's a commodity, then you are at the whim of the market. If it is more niche and you are willing to wait. You will more often than not, get what you want for it. People are just seen used to getting stuff below what it is truly worth, because most sellers seem rather keen to sell something as fast as possible. When I sell something, it is because I have no need for it. Not because I need the money. So I set the price that I want and I wait. Unless I am mistaken about its value, it will sell.

  36. Thanks for the reply I bought that many because 1) theyre very cheap , 2) everything's going up in price and 3) I run 7 mags. If they don't work with any of my guns then 6 of them will be sold/or returned for refund as new and 1 sold as used. I'm all sorted. Buy it now or price boom.

  37. Hi @AngelusKarl77 Welcome to the airsoft asylum 👋 Plenty to look at in here some of it may even help you! Lol. Any queries just ask. The place is rife with them! 🤭 Played at the Grange a couple of times. great venue. I think we have lost it now though? Have fun looking around and don't get lost cause you may not be found for months lol Check out the dude called GAMBLE, he has a funky tube channel. Worth a watch 👀👀 Regards

    AEP help needed

Hmm, the triggers are pretty mushy, but the bar does need to be pushed down in order for it to engage the trigger. I'd definitely want to replace that spring. Ah, I did take a (bad) picture of it. The stock one is slightly conical, larger at the bottom where it pushes on the bar, but anything that fits might help.

  43. I just shoot every sniper I see unless they are plainly engaging the opposite team. The allowance of wearing marker bands on their ankles makes identifying them impossible so if in doubt shoot them and if they’re on your team then medic them back in.

  44. My theory is that they don't really want to sell. They only listed because their missus ordered them to get back what they (actually) paid for their toys, even if they paid over the odds. Then they get caught up in a dick-measuring contest about not taking one penny less than their asking price.
