Inconsistent hop
Rogerborg and one other reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
the problem with that sort of thing is the consistency you're getting. if the same rounds that are going through the chrono are also going all over the place (ie no changes to the setup between chrono/range shot) then it really shouldn't be an airseal issue. you can get it with mags, if your testing on a half empty midcap or a hicap then go to test shoot on a stuffed midcap, the friction on the nozzle from the bb stack holds the nozzle back and gives temporary airseal issues.2 points -
OK I made a mistake. I'll hold my hands up to that. I'm man enough to admit it. But does making a mistake make me a cunt? It's a shame we can't all be perfect! lol2 points

Ignite Tactical. Not an overly imaginative name change. It's definitely the same guy, while the site isn't overly forthcoming with contact details or company info, the privacy policy contains our good friend George's name and address at the bottom of it. So either they're changing the name and are going to be Xtreme Tactical trading as Ignite Tactical which is perfectly fine ...... or ....... they're setting up to liquidate the former and replace it with the latter. There is no mention of Xtreme on the Ignite page, so the evidence suggests that history is about to repeat itself. Yes, the system is flawed and that is why we need to look out for this kind of stuff so that people don't get ripped off. It's up to banks etc to do their due diligence , if it's something we can do as a community pretty quickly then they should have no problem finding out the same info. That said, as BIGShow knows/is Mr Gibbons/Quantum Tactical/Xtreme Tactical/Ignite Tactical then he has had the opportunity to fill us in of the details of what actually happened to the last company and why SIG optics are no longer for sale - if we are so wrong in our conclusions then this is the perfect place to set us straight. However, judging by the previous outbursts and pretending to be someone else, I don't think it'll happen and if it does it's likely to be as honest as a cheque from Quantum Tactical.2 points

Another RIF incident in the news... Its only a matter of time now
Ebeneezer Goode and one other reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
It seems bleedin' obvious with hindsight that said incel-mong shouldn't have had his cert back. Although taking a cert away doesn't take collectively licensed shotguns away, it just makes them illegally held. Whether it was obvious with foresight is another question, but you can't fix mong with some farcical psychobabble about hugging your inner unicorn. Fortunately, the response seems to have been fairly measured: tell Farces to apply the current system better, rather than imposing more prohibitions that will only really punish the non-mongs. Surprising, but welcome.2 points -

Rules of Airsoft patches?
Rogerborg reacted to Ebeneezer Goode for a topic
I dont wear any patches as they tend to give snipers something to aim at (same reason I stopped wearing a helmet). My all-OD setup seems to be working well at my local evergreen woodland site, to the extent I've also repainted my guns OD. If I'm honest I'm liking the anonymous look. Fits in with my sci-fi loadout. Nah, much more fun being the phaser-fodder rear-echelon Ensign that always gets sneakily picked off by the aliens at the start of the episode... ...or maybe I'm confusing that with my airsoft personality.1 point -
Shortage of airsoft items in UK
shadowfacex reacted to Ebeneezer Goode for a topic
Add in a strong anti-gun sentiment in the UK, Eco-Nazis wanting to ban everything (plastic BBs? Its a wonder the feckers from XR haven't started chaining themselves up at airsoft sites yet), a general suspicion of anything military, clothing etc and sites going out of business its all against the sport. That said, seeing more and more newbies like myself taking it up this past year which is very encouraging.1 point -
Tokyo Marui TM SPAS 12 with folding stock - BOXED

This advert is COMPLETED!

Regretfully I'm selling my TM SPAS-12 - this is the version everyone wants with the folding stock. Comes boxed with original accessories (strap, packet of BBs, instructions, 4 shells (3 in the box 1 in the chamber), basically everything pictured...). Condition is really good - there's only a couple of minor scratches which should be visible in the photos (if not, it just shows how small they are). It's 100% working and I've never had any issues. The box is also i surprisingly good condition, perfect for collectors. Please message me any questions you may have. Listing is also on several other websites - but there is only one for sale. These can easily go for £300+, I'm looking for £275 + postage/packaging. Collection also available from Manchester.£275

Inconsistent hop
Rogerborg reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
"easy fix but i havent got the time" the only possible explanation, and it might sound a bit stupid, but how are you going about setting the hop? i've seen hops have dual "sweet spots" where if you start adjusting from off you get to the first spot with good hop, but if you keep adjusting eventually the combination of overspin/energy loss ends up at another point with what looks like about the right amount of spin but ends up with really crap consistency. possible if you're starting off with big adjustments maybe you're missing the first spot and hitting the second?1 point -

The sad truth. Especially those that require car travel. I used to be big into historical reenactment, but knocked it on the head when the costs of driving around the country became prohibitive for a leisure activity. Now that I'm looking at 70 mile round trips to the nearest airsoft sites, that's starting to become a consideration too, even absent the current "responsible stockpiling" of fuel going on.1 point

It's a very cyclic hobby in terms of trends. We're gradually transitioning out of Mk18's being the 'go to' with Mk16's on the way in, give it a few years and Mk18's will have a renewed 'old school cool' factor and folks will be clamouring for decent versions of the rail... much like they are for carry handle uppers now... just as Multicam/MTP is the new DPM. I definitely think things like the Unity mounts are partially to blame, optics on stilts is just so much comfier... slapping them back on a carry handle is the next logical leap to putting them even higher. But yeah, I've never been one for trying for 100% accurate clones as you've alluded to I very much like my wrists functioning after a day of playing!1 point

Shortage of airsoft items in UK
Ebeneezer Goode reacted to emilianoksa for a topic
Given the mess we are in - rising prices, shortages of goods, astronomical shipping costs, sites closing, wealth destroying green policies and growing unemployment - I sometimes wonder if airsoft has much of a future at all. Niche hobbies can only survive in affluent societies. I imagine the second hand market will become more popular with many.1 point -

Well both pages in links provided are gone... so I say that this is suspect having seen this before as a move by some unscrupulous people to then deny warranty claims or refunds and claim that they never stocked the item. So this would be suspect trading and based in the UK the guy is risking heavy fines, especially selling knockoffs or the method he is using, bait and switch which is illegal to do.1 point

It'll be a rough approximation of a Blood Diamond/BHD carbine (more Blood Diamond than BHD to start with, but it's not particularly hard to transition it over), but keeping some modern conveniences... namely a BCM pistol grip, a larger trigger guard and an adjustable 2-point sling. B5 Systems (Brownells) repro CAR-15 stock Skinny handguards Carry handle rail Aimpoint Comp M2 repro (will pick up a real one at some point because I highly doubt the repro will hold zero for more than 10 seconds) Surefire 6P thrown in a modified repro Weaver barrel mount 607 moderator (being made up by the same person who is doing the graft) Essentially it'll be this, but remove flat top upper/optic and replace with carry handle upper/carry handle mounted optic and swap out the muzzle device. TLDR I guess I'm going from the modern flavour of mayo, to the 'retro' version flavour of mayo 🤷♂️.1 point

Couple this with my fondness for wood I have a few AK47s and historically would have been for Russia Being in Salisbury and being friends of a particular local family I’m not going to be representing anything Russian However if wearing something might upset a branch of Russian SF then I may be inclined to do so1 point -

What Shamal said was "I don't know of any gun club guns that have been used in school shootings." Hamilton carried out a school shooting with the pistols that he used at his gun club. If Shamal wants to argue around that, he can try.1 point -
Easy guys, Shamal did say "most" gun crime, while Dunblane was horrific in the extreme (I remember it well, especially poignant as my niece's were 5 & 6 at the time), it was a fairly isolated incident in respect of legally owned gun crime, then & now most gun crime falls at the feet of criminals with illegally sourced weapons, until we get in to the realms of "Minority Report" , it's something that'll never be sorted, all we can do is do our best to promote the positive side of Airsoft & the generally responsible attitude of most players, not publicly fall out over our own perceptions of gun crime.1 point

First DMR Build. Any Advice?
Badgerlicious reacted to Impulse for a topic
Consistency, effective range and a snappy trigger is what you want to be chasing. A DMR is there to reach out a bit further than the standard AEGs on the field and make the shots that the AEGs are finding hard to make. Basically, you want to be designing it the same way you'd build a BASR, just instead of the higher power and slow ROF, you're taking the middle ground between the AEGs and the BASRs with semi-auto fire rate, but also trading in an MED. From my experience, the Cyma m14 is a great platform to start from, but they're not an easy one to work on as the gearbox is horrendous to take apart, barrels have to be specifically designed for it because it's cut differently and AEG hop rubbers need cutting down because the hop up unit is unique and takes shorter rubbers (not VSR rubbers! They're AEG rubbers, but with about a centimetre or two cut from the end. However, they make for some pretty swanky looking DMR builds once completed because the rifle has that classic rifle style. I've built one of mine to look more sniper-y. It's a shame your budget is only around £250 - 300 though, as my advice would be HPA for a DMR, but it costs a pretty penny. It's where I'm going for my m14 after experiencing the silent consistency of my HPA BASR, and if you're not spamming the trigger (which you shouldn't be with a DMR anyway), you can get away with a small bottle in a stock pouch to avoid having lines everywhere. However, I will also give my honest thoughts and perhaps play devil's advocate: Seriously consider what you'll get from that extra 0.5J and consider what you're trading off. I personally don't see the point in DMR power these days. With how advanced hop ups have become and how much they affect our range and accuracy, the extra 0.5J isn't worth the MED for me. The extra 5m, maybe 10m if you're lucky, isn't worth a 30m MED, but if your local site has a 15 or 20m MED for DMRs I could see the viability more. I think designing a "DMR" style rifle around 1.1J is way better as you lose very little effective range, but you gain the flexibility of being able to shoot point blank if someone gets up close.1 point
