Here is a vid of the grenade launcher. This is from when I was still deciding on an operating pressure. so the shots are a little inconsitent. Its now running for about 9-10 shots at 300 psi quite safely with the ability to quickly crank it up for long range shots if necesarry. Runs off 12 gram co2 cartridges in the front section. Still needs prettying up a bit though. Grand total of around Ā£100-120 spent (including 1 co2 rated tag shell which is most of the cost)4 points -

Personally, I don't want people putting tape all over my guns, thank you very much. However, the "if it looks like a sniper, then you have an MED" is utter tripe. Lots of people like running 1J bolties, especially those who are also into WW2 airsoft. Also, there are people who like running "DMRs" at 1J so as to avoid the MED. My m21 is very sniper-y (no, it's not an m14!), but I'll run it at 1.1J to avoid the 30m MED because I prefer the flexibility over the extra 0.5J and the tiny range increase that affords, so if someone told me "nah, you have an MED anyway" I'd probably tell them to piss off. It particularly gets my goat because there will be folk out there with pistols shooting at over 1.3J, quite likely unchronoed, with nobody batting an eyelid about MED or ROF. Sites should be educating players that appearance and barrel length means very little in airsoft, not surrendering to the fantasy.2 points -

I just shoot every sniper I see unless they are plainly engaging the opposite team. The allowance of wearing marker bands on their ankles makes identifying them impossible so if in doubt shoot them and if theyāre on your team then medic them back in.2 points -

UK airsoft is just fine. It's a decent mix of rentals and noobs, Dye and Crye babies, geardos, Walts, and the actual airsoft veterans in jeans with random brand NBBs or a scruffy AK non-ironically held together with duct tape, all playing more-or-less happily together. Power levels are fine too. I wouldn't be fussed if they went a bit higher, but they're not going there. Auto guns and bolties are both usable and distinctive. There's some debate over DMRs, in terms of both power and power-play abuse of them, but it's not a huge drama and sites are free to fiddle with their rules, or bin them off altogether. When I hear about the competitive stuff from Italy, or huge sites and squad play from Hungary, nah, not for me, thanks, let alone the roid-rage flip-out-and-fite-IRL tosh from the Colonies. I've enjoyed a couple of light filmsims, but for a regular Sunday I'm fine with short games, short walks, lots of shooting toy guns and maybe playing a bit of dress-up, without some Major Issues barking orders at me.2 points

MOE would probably work. Pic from the last game day, must look for the others I've got of it. Mine is actually WE based , has trades, all the correct milling on the upper (front edge , extra slot and cut away over charging handle) and on the buffer tube (threads removed). Barrel shortened and lug removed. Buffer tube, stock, mag catch and fore grip are all R/S and I have a correct DIS for it. I also modded the lower KAC rail section so it appears to have the second securing system to match the one on the top section.1 point

Lol The storm grip is very comfy to use , black ergo grip as seen on the A2 would work. That build should look pretty damn good. Had an interesting moment at the local site a few weeks back when I was up there testing my 119 on their chrono . Chap walked out of the game zone strolled past and did a classic cartoon type double take from 10 or 12 feet away 'whose is the C8 ? where did you get a C8 ?' every one else at the sight thinks its a bloody M4 š¤£ TBF I have gone a looong way down the path with it though .1 point

I know, it's a very deep rabbit hole to go down! I'll probably draw the line at the correct trades - I'm aiming for a ten foot build (i.e., from 10 feet away you probably can't tell... š¤«). Planning to get the barrel shortened and the FSP lug ground down, and got my eye on a CAR-15 stock from Brownells. The pistol grip might end up as something more modern though - I can't stand grips with the nub, because I have small child-like hands š1 point

It still amazes me. At the moment I've ditched the ghillie and most of the summer I show up in a short sleeved OD t-shirt and m81 trousers, yet it's still relatively easy to sneak behind the enemy team or get into firing positions undetected by just staying low and moving slowly. Also, it's fantastic practice as when winter rolls around and I put the ghillie back on, I become super-invisible, because I'm used to having to do the same in a t-shirt š For this reason, I always advise people to play the role and practice these stealth aspects of gameplay before shelling out on a ghillie; you come out way better at using the ghillie suit than anyone who just bought it and then relies on it as a crutch rather than a tool to merely supplement their already solid foundation in concealment.1 point -

i do tend to go spur first, but that's more to place a limit on the range in which i can shim the pinion to (eg if the idler needs say 0.3mm under it then i can't put the bevel lower than that). problem is when that limit isn't enough, or as in this case even with the smallest possible amount under the bevel it's not ideal.1 point -

it could be, it's hard to tell these things from vids sadly the problem with aftermarket shells is they can have their own issues, for example with the mounting of the motor cage or general fitment of the shell into the gun. you could try manually countersinking or finding a smaller pinion, although if there's a tooth profile mismatch that can be its own problem.1 point -
I played Zmart on saturday and I had a amazing game day. I dont know what clicked (maybe I was missing my proper cqb) but I was on fire. Playing pretty aggressively, as in pushing forward, always moving and shooting and changing positions, taking ground and generally being a nuisance I was picked as a rogue VIP (for those that remember those games at The Mall) and was holding both teams off from different directions for ages. One of the players thought there was a squad in the area I was as I kept moving so much haha. One of the games I must have been 30+ kills for 1 death and all I was using was a pistol too. I can honestly say it was probably one of my best days of gameplay. Cannot wait to get back there1 point

Traveled to Oakham to visit The Gaol. Was fast paced CQB with the least amount of moaning I've experienced at any day of airsofting. Extremely enjoyable. The venue is great with it being a disused prison. Plenty of buildings to navigate through, some light, some pitch black (or close to). Outdoor areas were interesting with just the right amount of cover in each area. The owner of the site is what I believe made it so great. He switched up windows that were open, access around the site and through buildings in-between all games. Kept you thinking throughout to prevent yourself being shot in the arse and thinking about how you can be sneaky-sneaky. Looking forward to going again in the future. If anyone is around the East Midlands area, I would highly advise doing so. I believe they used to operate with around 100 attendees per game day, however they restricted number due to covid and have decided to keep it that way permanently even if they cannot afford to do so (the words from the owner himself).1 point

Taking that part of the mag apart is easy, just remover the two hex head screws from the base plate and thatās it. Be careful though there is a small plastic piece at the base plate end of the feed spring that likes to shoot itās self into orbit if you are not careful. while you have it apart check the bb follower for imperfections. I have had one mag with this problem and it had a small amount of extra plastic on the bb follower I had to carefully polish off. Be aware putting the feed spring back in is a PITA. The aforementioned small plastic āplugā seems desperate to ping across the room and get lost behind the sofa of embed itās self in your eyeball. I found a bbq skewer helpful to feed the spring on to before trying to jam it back in the bb channel. Have fun!!!!!1 point -

There's a reason the most expensive bit of kit I own outside of rifs are my pair of really nice Altberg tabbers boots. They've saved my ankles more times than could count at airsoft games, on hikes, at festivals and in snow. The Ares Amoeba BBs are easily the worst purely due to the shockingly bad & potentially damaging defects I found, although their consistency otherwise isn't too impressive either.1 point

I've been doing some comparisons of the bio BBs I have over the past week or so as well - ASG Open Blasters, BioSphere, Nuprol RZR Bio, all in 0.2 & 0.25g. On paper these should be identical - they're all supposed to be 5.95mm with 0.01mm tolerance either way - and while they all perform adequately enough at 0.2g in my experience from shooting them prior to the lockdown the ASG Open Blasters seemed to the best of the three, and the Nuprols had a habit of double-feeding sometimes. I haven't used the .25g BBs enough to have any idea which of those three shoots the best though. 20 of each BB were weighed and measured and they were broken apart to check for air bubbles. When measuring a BB's diameter I rotated it and re-measured to check the variation in diameter around it & get an idea of its "roundness", noting the min, max and average diameter. Some were measured then soaked some in water for >24h (was generally around 40h-ish) and then re-measured to check for any swelling due to water absorption. There are some caveats to keep in mind: The scales I used only have a 0.01g resolution which isn't really precise enough (and they're cheap, so they're not exactly top quality either) however they should at least be sufficient to show up any significant discrepancies between the specified weight and actual weight. They're also sensitive enough that things like airflow around them can skew the result. To attempt to compensate for these to some extent I weighed each BB repeatedly and used the most frequent result. Similarly, my digital calipers (Facom 1300EA) have a resolution of 0.01mm so borderline values might read either way, but again this should be enough to show any significant variation at least. Just because I didn't find any air bubbles in a BB doesn't necessarily mean that there weren't any; there could have been some in the parts of the BB that were not exposed or they may have been too small to see with the naked eye. Also, 20 BBs is a small sample size So this isn't exactly a rigorous, in-depth look & you shouldn't take the results as entirely accurate. Also they're likely to vary from batch to batch, with some being better or worse than others. But it should at least provide some interesting information & comparison between these three brands of BB beyond merely shooting with them Nuprol RZR Bio 0.20g: Weight: Typically 0.20g, 3 measured 0.21g Size range: 5.92 - 5.95mm; 11 measured within tolerance. Roundness: 13 measured with max variation of up to 0.01mm, 4 with 0.02mm, 3 with 0.03mm There was no sign of swelling after soaking in water. Nuprol's BBs have a consistent weight but their measured size was outside of specification on almost half of the BBs tested - minimum measurements of 5.93mm were not uncommon and a few were even as low as 5.92mm. None measured above 5.95mm. They are relatively soft though - I had to be very careful when measuring their size & shape as it was very easy to read lower measurements even with the small amount of force applied by the calipers. I did not see any bubbles inside any of the BBs tested. BioSphere 0.20g: Weight: Typically 0.20g, 6 measured 0.19g Size range: 5.94 - 5.96mm; all measured within tolerance. Roundness: All measured with max variation of up to 0.01mm (15 did not vary to an extent I could measure with my calipers) There was no sign of swelling after soaking in water. BioSphere's BBs are quite consistent in weight (trending more towards the lighter side) and impressively consistent in size/shape, measuring 5.94-5.96mm with no more than 0.01mm variation in diameter around any given BB - all within the specified 5.95 +/- 0.01mm tolerance. They readily split into fragments when crushed, and unfortunately I found a bubble in every BB I tested. Here's a photo of one that I managed to crack open more or less cleanly showing the air bubble: ASG Open Blaster 0.20g: Weight: All measured 0.20g Size range: 5.90 - 5.96mm; 6 measured within tolerance. Roundness: 9 measured with max variation of up to 0.01mm, 7 with 0.02mm, 3 with 0.03mm, 1 with 0.04mm There was no sign of swelling after soaking in water. The Open Blasters had a very consistent weight with all of them measuring 0.2g, but their size and shape varied to a greater extent than the Nuprols, from 5.90mm to 5.96mm. One of the BBs tested varied between 5.92 and 5.96mm! They seem to be of a similar material as the Nuprol BBs but a lot harder. I did not see any bubbles in any of the BBs tested. Nuprol RZR Bio 0.25g: Weight: All measured 0.25g Size range: 5.91 - 5.95mm; 3 measured within tolerance. Roundness: 15 measured with max variation of up to 0.01mm, 3 with 0.02mm, 2 with 0.03mm There was no sign of swelling after soaking in water. Unsurprisingly these are much like the 0.2g version - their weight is quite consistent while their size and shape is about as variable, though they seem to be a bit smaller on average and a couple measured as low as 5.91mm. The 0.25g Nuprol RZR Bio BBs are significantly harder than the 0.20g version and didn't deform so readily. I did not see any bubbles inside any of the BBs tested. BioSphere 0.25g: Weight: Typically 0.25g, 9 measured 0.24g Size range: 5.93 - 5.94mm; 16 measured within tolerance. Roundness: All measured with max variation of up to 0.01mm (17 did not vary to an extent I could measure with my calipers) There was no sign of swelling after soaking in water. These varied a bit more in weight than their 0.2g version, and like their 0.2g version trended towards the lighter side. Their size and shape was very consistent too with none varying by more than 0.01mm, although they were slightly smaller than the 0.2g version with all of them measuring between 5.93mm and 5.94mm. Unfortunately, just like the 0.2g version I found an air bubble in every one of these I inspected too. These were also much harder than the 0.2g version and they had a tendency to shatter suddenly once they started to crack but I did manage to break open cleanly for a photo: ASG Open Blaster 0.25g: Weight: Typically 0.25g, 6 measured 0.26g Size range: 5.90 - 5.95mm; 1 measured within tolerance. Roundness: 13 measured with max variation of up to 0.01mm, 4 with 0.02mm, 2 with 0.03mm, 1 with 0.05mm There was no sign of swelling after soaking in water. These seem to be slightly less consistent in weight than their 0.20g version, trending slightly towards the heavier side. Their size & shape is about as variable, ranging from 5.90 to 5.95mm and like the others these also trend slightly towards the smaller side. I did not see any bubbles inside any of the BBs tested. As I posted earlier in this thread, AFAIK most are made from PLA & as such I wouldn't expect them to biodegrade very quickly in the environment.1 point
