Cunning or Cheating?
Cr0-Magnon and 2 others reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
the demeanour is the thing, if you're giving the impression that you're not in-play, for all they knew maybe you'd had a dead battery/ran out of ammo/other reason to leave the site and did you the courtesy of not peppering you as you left. at the risk of turning this into a wider debate, and acknowledging i'm as much a perpetrator of the *ahem* "amended" playstyle in response to others playing (usually involving the selector lever), this is a big problem in airsoft in general. i've seen plenty of characters who, for example, will play perfectly honestly up until their first "non hit-taker" whereupon they immediately don their own plot armour and add to the issue, opening the door for others with a higher bullshit tolerance to start considering the option. it's why it can only take a couple of arseholes to completely ruin a game day- because otherwise decent players will resort to indecent tactics in response, multiplying out until the end result is an uncontrollable shit-show.3 points -

Cunning or Cheating?
Rogerborg and one other reacted to Speedbird_666 for a topic
I think dead rags are a good idea. I have a couple as free gifts from TG. They only take a couple of seconds to re-pack, but remove any ambiguity when it comes to dead players. It would certainly kill off dead men's walks - no dead rag showing - light em up, no arguments.2 points -
Cunning or Cheating?

it is, exactly as common a practice as not having your hand up the whole way back to the safe zone and instead relying on people seeing you're not walking the same as you would if you were playing.2 points -

I think it's reasonable enough to the right buyer. That means someone who wants that exact package, and has that money ready to hand. I wonder how much interest free credit offers from retailers are going to factor into that. £750 now versus £100 next month (then the future will take care of itself) might appeal to some. I'm really not a fan of credit culture, but the reality is that it makes dreams come true (at the cost of some future nightmares).2 points

I saw a couple older threads for this, but they're from '10/'11 and I didn't want to necropost. What other hobbies do you guys have? Anything that can merge with Airsoft? For me, my main other hobby is parkour, and it merges well with Airsoft when I'm doing the whole assassin thing with a pistol. It's kind of a shame that there isn't any construction site skirmish sites, because parkour can potentially have a high tactical advantage against usual maneuvers (Great for ambushes from above, even moreso with a partner and attacking from multiple angles).1 point

Se Tour Review: Ambush Airsoft Cobham (Surrey)
george1976 reacted to Asomodai for a topic
Site Name: Ambush Airsoft Contact details: 07903880042 Website Address: https://www.ambushairsoft.co.uk Facebook Page: Ambush Airsoft | Facebook Site Address: Brick Kiln Farm, Old Lane, Ockham, Cobham, KT11 1NL Popped along on my lonesome to Ambush Airsoft on 16/05/2021. This is NOT the old Campaign site. Ambush recently gained the lease for the old Delta Paintball site that is across the road from Campaign. So the site is relatively new to the people running the day. Ambush Airsoft is your typical, if slightly overgrown ex paintball site. Multiple small zones separated out by fenced off paths. As it's a new site, there are no reviews so to speak out there, so figured getting one into the SE Tour would be a start. This is a small woodland site with some buildings, including the signature church and castle and a non running double decker bus. No real elevation so to speak, nor water features. Short/Medium engagement distance throughout. Good: Playing Area: Was the best part of the site, though I felt it was utilised poorly. There are a couple of well built large buildings including a two story church with pews and tower. There is also a small castle and village section. Some places are overgrown but added to the area in a positive area. There is a section with a gutted double decker bus surrounded by various obstacles. There is a large "Stockade" which is used for small and short games, which splits the field in half. Which was very well built. Value: Good value at £25 for the day including a free burger for lunch (I got two as they were going to be chucked out). Turn around time: Reasonably good turn around time, I was pretty knackered come the end and marshals kept putting on games despite chucking down cats and dogs all day. Chrono: Was good, everything was tested and marked. Usual 350 AEG/450 DMR/500 BASR. Chronoed on your own bb weight. Safe Zone: Large split safe zone with car park in the middle. All the tables and chairs were under cover. Very few players on the day so plenty of room. Average: Marshalling: Only one, sometimes two marshals throughout the day, the site has such small zones it's all that is required. Guy was friendly and took constructive criticism well. Could have changed the teams up a little bit. Safety Brief: Short and sweet. Covered everything. Usual Airsoft cringe gallows humour. Game Modes: Were fairly basic, mostly attack/defend games with a capture the flag game mode. Worked fine considering the small size of the zones. Car Park/Entrance: A long muddy driveway that got worse as the rain came down during the day. Follow the obvious path down. The entrance to the site is signposted. Car parking is adequate and right next o the safe zone. Toilets: Three portaloos. They all smelt pretty bad, probably didn't help with all the rain. Didn't dare go in! At least there are three of them! Food: Burger was included in the price which was good. Though I didn't inquire if there was an alternative. Nothing obvious though. Bad: Clientele: It wasn't "All" bad. But there were very few people turn up on the day. With so few people on your side, it only takes some people not playing for the objective and just muck about, to essentially lose the game before it even kicks off. I am all for having a laugh, but not at the teams expense. They were referencing and were clearly a fan of a Forum/Facebook Airsoft/Comedy/Authority celebrity. In fact they may even be a member here. Hit taking: Frankly awful, some of the worst I have personally experienced. A couple of instances of blatant cheating. I shot someone who I believe works at the site in the leg whilst I was hiding in the brush. BB Bounced off the leg, player flinched, looked down at their leg for a few seconds, brushed at it with their hand, then just kept shooting. As in the safety brief, even if you aren't 100% sure you got hit, take it anyway. It took me a couple of extra shots to get them to take the hit. Sadly the extra shots gave my position away to someone in the other direction. Another situation, CQB, ultra close range. I fired at someone through a doorway whilst they were looking the other way, bb bouncing off of their vest. They turned around and shot me, claimed that I dry fired. Note I shot with a GBBP. If I dry fired or ran out of ammo, the slide would have locked back. I showed them that, rattled off two more shots and then it locked back on empty. They still insisted I dry fired and carried on. Another situation, enemy player firing through a gap in the stockade wood that smaller then an A4 sized paper (Not allowed) I fired back at them, watching BB's pinging off them, guy clearly getting frustrated, maybe 10 or so landed without taking their hit. They fired back at me, I immediately took my hit and walked off. Complained to the marshal and the guy left early after one more round. The guy was a known regular. I was accidently killing my own team coming up the top of the stairs on the bus, even pointed out to the marshal. My own team weren't even calling their hits. No wonders the enemy team weren't either! Last game I played, last man standing, hiding behind a barrier. I knew the enemy was all around me, within 10-15 metres. I went full on rambo and let off at least 10 shots directly at multiple players before they realised where the fire was coming from, this was at a distance I couldn't miss. No kills whatsoever. A guy who was watching me who was already claimed I had hit at least 3 of them and couldn't believe they didn't call it. So really bad experience. Two people who I had chatted to throughout the day were independently complaining about how bad it was throughout the day and both left early and vowed not to return. Shop: Very little on offer. Didn't get a good look. Poor implementation: It's a new site, but it is obvious at least two of the 4 zones we played are too short for airsoft distances as the respawns were in range of each other. The wire fencing between zones has to be removed and just use the entire site at once. I hear that this will happen soon. Conclusion: A real struggle of a day and probably the worst day of Airsofting I have been to in some time. The playing area has good potential, but it would have taken so little effort to open up the zones into one big playing area. Hit taking and clientele were pretty bad. I probably wont be back, There are many other sites between myself and Chobham that do the same thing but better. Campaign, the site they used to own is still being run by the landlords at least once a month and from what I hear is a better site at time of writing. Bullpup Watch: Famas and SRS. Best Guess Map:1 point -
*Ahem* So, hi guys, and hello airsoft world: it is a comeback because I had left. Apologies for not answering the messages in my inbox from last year: when it all went wong and sites shuttered for the 2nd time (3rd? I lost count), I logged out and haven't been back since then. I couldn't bear to talk about airsoft without playing it, and it was certainly healthier for my bank balance to not keep buying stuff that I couldn't use. But woo and also hoo, we're back, baby, indoors and out, and it's even better after a break. Sadly the excellent local indoor site, the Depot, died the real death and has never come back, but we're got a decent new outdoor site near Glasgow at Area66, so it's all good. OK, I did make a few tech purchases. My plucky plastic Galaxy MP5K with an M100 spring, mosfet, Big Dragon M140 and the air seal spot on is now shooting at 1.04J / 335fps on a 110mm barrel, and snappier than a snapping turtle playing snap while drinking Snapple. I've even just made my first purchase of a toy over £100. Sure, I felt a bit dirty, but I have stuck to my policy of perversity and having previously bought a long M4 to hacksaw it down, I've now bought a short one (Specna Arms Edge Colt 933) in order to barrel-extend and DMR it. Quick change gearbox, yes please. I've even (looks around guiltily) sprung for surplus DPM for a full impression kit of "generic airsofter on a budget". I'll catch up now and see how lockdown-and-release has been treating everyone.1 point

Isn't it common practice to call yourself out and make it very clear you are not in the game when you have an issue that stops you playing so you don't get lit up walking out of the game zone?1 point

Rogerborg reacted to Speedbird_666 for a topic
But again Herr Hamster, that's the point of a dead mans walk - make the other player(s) think that you are not in play, but not do anything that directly contravenes the rules. It was an issue in Paintball for a while, it's actually expressly forbidden in many Tournament rules. In my defense, at no stage did I try to cover my armbands (that is a pretty shit thing to do) and the attackers had infinite respawns, so at worst they were back in the game after 3-4 mins. Indeed it was the first player that I shot on my 'walk' that got me a few minutes later. But I agree with your point about the downward spiral of bad behaviour. A good day can be ruined by the actions of a few, making 'good' players do things they would never do under normal circumstances.1 point -

Their site, their rules, but I'd feel compelled to point out that they're then talking about semi automatic sniper rifles, not designated marksman rifles, one point of which is that they can use the same mags and ammo as the carbines in the squad. If it becomes an issue at my local (I very much doubt it) then I'll throw on a solid stock on and die on this hill.1 point
-
That, exactly. I'm sorry to hear you got sucked into that and it's great that you've finally climbed out of the hole. Lenders who aren't charging interest are reliant on preying on people who can't afford to pay it back. Low interest rates are the twigs and leaves covering the elephant trap of usurious debt collection, and it's long past time that this practice was looked into to see what actually keeps these companies going. Rant aside, until that happens, it's a real consideration for 2nd hand sales. And inflation makes interest free credit even cheaper by the time you've paid it back - even if you do have the lump sum up front, you might as well use interest free credit to benefit from that. In fact, the only time I'd use credit now is to exploit it when I don't need it.1 point

That is a really interesting point that I had never thought of before. With most retailers offering credit options, it makes you wonder how big-ticket items will sell second hand (at a reasonable value for the seller) unless they are discontinued and/or collectable products. Say, if you are in the market for a high-end pre-upgraded TM NGRS package, you might think to yourself that it's worth paying the extra 30% to be A) able to buy it new and setup exactly how you want it straight away, B) comes with a retailers warranty and finally C) Pay it off in monthly installments. Tangent: Having experienced my own credit nightmares in the past (and all totally my fault)- I've had to work my butt off to be totally debt and finance free. Something I only achieved early this year after a decade or so of worry, sleepless nights and very nearly a divorce. The way credit is being thrown around on nearly every major retailer's website is scary, and it's so easy to be sucked in. But make one mistake (i.e. a late or missed payment) then your lovely interest-free purchase becomes a very nasty interest-attracting debt with sky-high rates. Make a few of those mistakes (and it can happen easier than you think) then you are completely fucked.1 point -

I was referring to the semi auto version rather than the pump version, that thing was spewing just as much plastic as any other bb hose.1 point -
Lol , my take would be you can only rack the pump action so fast before you physically can’t do it any faster , where as if you’ve got the trigger pressure set so the wind from the wings of a passing bumblebee will set it off then the dayglow coloured shell suit wearing methhead running it could spam the bejesus out of the trigger so for all intents and purposes it’s running full auto ?1 point
-
Haha... Yeah not particularly proud of how much I spent on it considering I barely used it. I did go for around the 70% mark totalling everything, but maybe it was still a little too much. I will keep in mind splitting the mags, but I would imagine someone would definitely want them if they bought the rif. Yeah I'm pretty new here too, never sold a rif before so y'know. Bought quite a lot from this forum though lol. Thanks for the good feedback.1 point

If only, in less than a week I've bought another 2 gats, willpower was never my strong point & when it comes to Airsoft kit it quite literally burns a hole in my pocket 🔥, still, my weakness means somebody else gets an opportunity to buy a decent bit of kit, while KSC stuff is kinda overlooked nowadays, it's actually solid performing kit, my first pistol was a KSC G19, still going strong 20 years on.👍1 point

By my maths (and an attempt to navigate the not particularly easy to follow options on DCA) you're not far of the mark as you are. The total of what you've got listed seems to be £1100 give or take (£975 for the upgraded RIF, £125 for the EPMs). Taking the very broad sweeping general advice of 60-70% you at a range of £660-£770. Marui's tend to hold value well and yours looks to be in superb condition based on the photos. For the whole lot I actually think your price is pretty fair (expensive, but not overpriced) and despite varying opinions upgraded Marui's with Titans are desirable (albeit a big 'buyer beware' due to there being a Titan in there and no warranty from the person that installed it). Only thing I might suggest to make the price a bit less eye watering to those that might be interested would be to split the EPMs out. Sell those for £80-£90, and knock that much off the price for the RIF. Food for thought at the very least, I'm sure opinions will vary but as I said in the first paragraph expensive but not overpriced. Edit: Apologies for this grim reminder as to how much this lot cost in the first place.1 point
