  1. You can buy a generic AR and it'll look good and fine with 100 different loadouts. You can own some surplus trousers and a t-shirt and have a hell of a time with 100 different guns. People who tell you you're 'doing it wrong' deserve nothing but the block list.

  2. Wonderful thing about the hobby is there's not really a "wrong" way of doing it in terms of gear and gun preferences. As has been said, you can play with a stock Cyma AEG and some surplus gear for a loadout that will cost <£200 in total and have as much fun and be just as effective as the guy in full Crye gear with a TM NGRS kitted out with real-steel shooting accessories and sights. It's very much a "you do you" hobby and anyone who says you "must" play a certain way should be ignored. I'll always give prospective snipers my opinions on stuff, but I'll never be like "you're doing it wrong", even if they rock up to a game with a bolt action rifle dressed as a hot dog as if that's how they want to play, then that's how they should play!

  4. I posted on this page a while back regarding my head set up. I have made some changes; Wanted a different helmet (does not match my camo, but this night gaming!) Better NVG mounting system Changed the helmet straps, much better load bearing Counter balance weights This is much more sturdy than before, can’t wait to try it out soon.

  7. Now I am guilty of heavy wearing my collection. But alot can be hidden with spray paint. And sometimes I do believe that a good spray job looks better than any other weathering. So as pictured is my mk46 and GPMG barrel. I have worn the mk46 a small bit just around the edges. But then I sprayed it and then weathered the paint away without damaging the weapon, and leaving it looking like it's just come off the battle field. Same as my gpmg barrel. It's not worn like you thing. The original paint is untouched underneath. I sprayed it car trim steel colour, then sprayed it black over the top. All I did was white sprit some of the black away and now looks like it's been on the ranges for a few weeks. But if you feel like you want to weather then I do say less is more. Like above, unless your going for a specific look like I've done with the susats and gpmg. Just keep it simple and just do the outlines to give it a patina, but then let general use kick in like in the pick with the browning. But at end of the day it's down to the user. If you want it worn then that's great. If you want it looking new then that's great too.

  8. Ok, so it's been a week and I've got some updates! Firstly, thanks to @ak2m4 and his wonderful shop, I am ready to test at all power levels that I might require. I also bought a set of ZCI 18:1 SR-25 gears as I realised that the helical gears I was going to install may not interface properly with the helical bevel/pinion (which is more important) as the teeth on the bevel gear that interacts with the other gear (not the pinion, they're all swirly) are straight, to interact with a normal gear set. Also SR-25 gears are weird because of the longer piston with more teeth, so while you can use regular 18:1 gears, they won't make use of the longer gearbox and therefore have less air to push through the barrel, which affects the cylinder to barrel ratio and defeats the point of using a v2.5 gearbox over a standard v2, and I definitely want to be using the strength of the v2.5 gearbox for this semi-auto sniper build (whether 1.14J, 1.64J or 1.88J). The stock gears are 13:1, which I gather are better for speedyboi full auto builds, so I wanted to swap them out for 18:1 gears for a bit more of a torque-y setup, so I picked them up alongside some extra springs. Secondly, I tried to install all the things myself. I've done custom builds on all of my gas, spring and HPA guns, so surely I could do an AEG build no problem, right? Right...? I was wrong. Tried doing it and I screwed a few things up, plus I couldn't remove the pinion from the motor to replace it with the Lonex helical one. Firstly, I had no idea how to modify the fire selector to disable full-auto, unlike the m14 which was super easy to do so and super reversible if needed. Also, not sure if the gearbox was put back together entirely properly, might've put the fire selector back together backwards (so safe would be auto and auto would be safe) and I couldn't and I couldn't connect up the motor and didn't want to force anything and potentially break stuff, so I put it back together mostly, left the motor outside and bundled it up to give to my local tech, as he specialises in AEGs and loves doing them where for me AEGs are techno-wizardry and I hate them; however I will probably do my AEG m14 myself as funnily enough I find V7 gearboxes easier to work on and I never thought I'd see the day where I'd be saying that. Never let it be said that I didn't give it a good go! Won't be able to get it to the tech for a bit though. Hopefully won't be too long, but will have to play the waiting game for now. The build now will stand at: Cyma Platinum SR-25 (with the suppressor filled with foam now) Pro Win rotary hop unit Prometheus 6.03 stainless steel tightbore 509mm barrel Umbrella Armory custom R-hop patch with custom hop arm OR Maple Leaf 70 degree macaron and omega nub ASG Infinity U-18000 motor Lonex helical pinion and bevel gear ZCI 18:1 SR-25 gear set 70 degree 3/16" sorbo pad To test power (aiming for 1.1J, 1.64J and 1.88J) between GPA m100, m105, m110, m120, m140 and ZCI m130 springs A bunch of shims to perfectly shim the gearbox For externals, at the moment I've got: Strike Systems 3-9x50mm scope (I really like this because it allows me to keep the back up iron sights mounted because I am an immersion nerd) Outdoor and Tactical 6-9" Harris bipod Unknown brand KAC-style vertical front grip (though I will eventually replace this with a Magpul AFG2) Even with all of this in, I think this build has cost me around £500 in total, so compared to some of my other high-performance builds it's fairly cheap, coming in about the same cost as a new TM NGRS, but I think it's going to perform faaaaaaaaar better than one (my HPA VSR, for example which probably cost me around £800) Still looking forward to getting this done and what I have learned will be really useful for when I do any other AEG builds, which I do plan on doing with my AEG m14 at least and maybe even upgrading my mp5k past the hop rubber and nub which I'll be testing on Sunday (stuck a Maple Leaf macaron and omega nub into an otherwise stock Cyma mp5k to make a devastating little secondary to run alongside this SR-25 if I do set it up as a DMR with an MED).

Thats a hell of a mountain for any new system has to climb especially in the early days when folk will be hesitant to adopt in case it doesnt work out. I say that in the hope, if not perhaps expectation that some day a hero will arise.

  17. I really enjoy creating custom builds based on real-steel counterparts, and take a lot of inspiration from what other airsofters have built. I can't seem to find any dedicated pistol threads here; so I'm starting a thread where we can share some customized pistols. Curious to see all of your cool custom pistol builds, so feel free to show off some of your one-of-a-kind handguns! ---------------------------------------- I'll kick it off with a recently finished build. Based it off a "bowling pin" 1911 that's used in competitive shooting circles. -> https://www.thearmorylife.com/bowling-with-a-pistol-a-guide-to-pin-shooting/ These types of handguns are usually older, base model 1911's retrofitted with all the modern upgrades such as adjustable sights, and ridiculous compensators. Did some research and found that this was a style of 1911 popularized in the 70's~90's by people like Bill Wilson (Wilson Combat). Think of it as what resto-modding older cars are, just for guns. Started off as a basic MEU with a guarder slide and frame, but now complete with a commander-style hammer, tung oil finished wood grips with custom cutouts, and compensator. I've also upgraded all the internals such as the BBU and sears/disconnectors. Pretty much done at this point but I might throw on a ridiculously long inner barrel to match the length of the comp. Otherwise, looks as massive as it does in the pics and shoots like a dream Tried reverse-crowning the barrel while waiting for the comp to arrive. A gunsmithing technique where the barrel is cut inwards at an angle, used to increase accuracy. Pretty sure doesn't work on airsoft outer barrels but still, looks cool as hell Real steel pin-shooting 1911:

Took the plunge and purchased the rare arms ar15 shell ejecting rifle few weeks ago.so far gun is good and with gimmick of shells flying out of the receiver and the game of hide and seek to find them again lol.so with only the one mag I looked on the net only to find none in stock and cost £26 a pop.so I purchased 2 5.56 metal mags from the net at £7.99 each and when they arrived it was off to the workshop.well 3/4 hr later and some scrap plastic and quick metal putty and a drop of superglue I had a working metal mag at the fraction of the cost of the plastic one they have on offer 😀..anyone else with this rifle feel free to msg me and can run you through the process 😀

TM's comes with trades just fine. However I suspect the distinction that was being made was "fully licensed trademarks" costs more, rather than whether it has trades.

Pretty sure they do as they copyright isn't recognised in Japan. That's why a fair few UK retailers say they will remove trades or don't list certain models (MP7 being a prime example) on their websites

I do think I'm going to stick with the base gun though because it looks hella saucy and I just really like m-lok for the ease of use adding attachments and looks. (Which let's be honest, looking gucci is part of it) But you've definitely got me considering the other engines and hop up set ups. Thanks T

  28. Well, there's your USP... at least for players. Problem is, that's a dis-incentive for sites to use it, as the current system has site loyalty as a feature (for them, a bug for players). I really do hope that it takes off, but I'm struggling to see how it's going to get traction.

I've had an Umarex Glock 17 for a couple of years now. I got the CO2 version and also have a green gas mag. Is it a good pistol? I feel distinctly meh, about it tbh. It shoots fine for me at close distances (<15m) so it's passable. Was it value for money? Fml, no! Almost £200 with a spare mag is ludicrous for the performance. Does it look good? Yes, 100%. Would I buy another? Nope. TM all the way for that money, or a WE and upgrades. It's all subjective though. I use my pistol maybe once during a game day (and on the range) just to use it, but generally it's just there because my holster would look shit without it.

  33. Hi Everyone, You won't know me but I've been an avid Airsofter now for 15+ years. Over that long period of time, I've had the opportunity to play at many different sites across the UK and meet some amazing people. I've been very fortunate to play with and against some awesome Airsofters as well as play at some insane sites. But, recently when someone asked me what I did at the weekend, I had no shame saying I played Airsoft, but that person then said "what's that?" and it got me thinking... "Why don't more people know about Airsoft, this Sport I've come to love, why aren't more people taking part and getting to enjoy it too?".... I then came to realize that although there are hundred, thousands of videos online of Game Plays, Scope Cams, RIF Reviews, but little to none focusing on the sites themselves. Some folks may look online, find a site and think "oh this looks cool but.... is it any good? What's the site like? What will I expect" other than maybe a wall of text on the website or a promo video by the site themselves. And what about those who want to try new sites but maybe want a bit more detail about what to expect from somewhere they've never played before? So I thought "Well, I love Airsoft, I want more people to love Airsoft, so why don't I make some reviews for sites so people can make an informed decision?".... So Here we are. A few weeks back I and a few friends of the thussly named Pew Pew Crew (Non Affiliated to the FB group we now realize exists...) visited RIFT Com's Site 3. And we had a blast. Below is the video of our first ever Site Review. If any of the RIFT crew are on this Forum, thank you for a great game day, it was enjoyed immensely. Please comment on the video or hit me up on Instagram with any constructive criticism. I'm always open to ways we/I can improve the review process (After my Wedding/Honeymoon I'm looking to get a GoPro/Action Camera for better content). At the end of the day, I began making these videos because I love Airsoft and the people I've been fortunate to meet over 15 years of playing (and more years to come hopefully). I Hope others will be influenced in a positive manner by my videos to try it out for themselves or to visit a new site. All the best everyone.

  34. bought the Bow Master GMF sliding stock for the MP5. It's advertised for VFC GBB and TM EBB MP5's but it needs quite a bit of modification to fit on the TM. If anyone is interested the work involves: grinding the inside of the end cap so that it fits in the slots on either side of the receiver (where the normal MP5 stock usually sits in). drilling out the hole on the end of the end cap to fit a countersunk bolt that holds the end cap into the TM gearbox securely. countersinking this hole so that the stock parts will fit. fitting a 3D spacer so that the end cap sits parallel as without it the stock sits at a slight upward angle. If you have access hand tools, a dremel and a 3D printer then it's an easy job

  41. So… the write up! Initially there were potentially going to be 3-4 of the team at this event but a couple dropped out last minute and we only had 2 in the end. We were on the BEARS team throughout, and overall it was an enjoyable well thought out event. A quick overview - Op Grimsky II is a follow up from Op Grimsky I held at Reforger Airsoft near Watford. I guess it would be classed as a filmsim, based around ‘Escape from Tarkov’ (which I’ve never played). It was a 2 day game, with 3 teams (Scavs, Bears, USEC), with rolling objectives played across the whole site. Pre-event plenty of information was available on the website, on a Facebook Live video, and in the fortnight leading up to the game we had team chats on Facebook Messenger. Questions were answered quickly and efficiently by Luke. We quickly came to understand that we would be the smallest team present, with only 17 players booked on; which wasn’t an issue and nor do I feel it detracted from the experience. On arrival I think there were actually 14 of us, and by Sunday AM this dropped to 10, and then 7 by the end of the game. I’ve come to understand this as par for the course at weekenders; for various reasons people will always leave early, what can I say apart for I like to get my moneys worth! 😂 We arrived Saturday AM, paid our dues and our kit was moved to our designated camping area by 4x4 while we walked over. On arrival we decided to re-site ourselves in a wooded area so that we could set up a basha. Luke had no issue with this and we were left to set ourselves up. Chrono happened at this location shortly after. Following this we were given a succinct game brief as rules and a longer brief had been sent out beforehand. I really liked this way of doing it, there wasn’t much messing around and we were able to get almost straight into the game within an hour/90 minutes of arriving. As far as team dynamics went, we had 4 snipers in ghillies, and then 3 distinct teams of friends within the BEARS team. We were left to come up with our own plan for the event, and had agreed a comms plan in the week previous. Luke was also on this net to feed us objectives and intel. Again this worked really well, and allowed us to take ownership of the tactics and operate with pretty much total freedom. Throughout the event our snipers would spot, track and ambush targets, and the squads would carry out coordinated attacks and ambushes. By the Sunday we’d got very good at this and it showed in the speed with which we were able to wipe out enemy squads. I can take or leave roleplaying at airsoft events, but with an almost dedicated team for this (Scavs) we were able to interact as much or as little as necessary. As a newcomer to ‘Tarkov’ the concept of ‘loot’ was new to me, but not difficult to understand or introduce into play. I will admit that we got quite frustrated after hiding a load of top tier loot under a pallet in the woods, only to find it had been stolen about 2 hours later 😬😂 after this we were much more inventive with our hiding techniques, and it paid off in the end! The loot we acquired could be stashed or traded with the in game trader; it was a nice dynamic which I think worked well although didn’t really have much to do with. It ranged from different coloured bottle caps, to 30mm rounds, keycards, bitcoin and ammunition crates. The only ongoing complaint which we had as a team was that at times we felt as though objectives and intel were coming through a bit slowly. We would find ourselves having to create tasks for a few hours (at one point we set up an OP and sat in a bush for an hour, but it was a nice break to be fair 😂) before an objective would happen, but having managed events in the past I appreciate the burden of having to provide objectives and intel for 3 separate teams. When the objectives did come they were mostly good fun and straightforward to achieve. The only other slight criticism would be team colours. It was an odd mix which wasn’t in line with the normal milsim Woodland vs Tan, which did lead to some confusion sometimes; although mostly in our favour because we were wearing green and USEC kept thinking we were Scavs and not firing on us immediately! We did miss the message about the night game on the Saturday evening and whilst on our own little patrol stumbled upon what we thought was an attack, but turned out to be an organised night game … sorry for shooting those people involved who obviously weren’t expecting us to appear outside their night game boundaries! Through gaining information from the Scavs we (eventually) learned that in order to escape Tarkov we needed to keep and not trade away our keycards. Luckily we had one ‘stashed’ at our FOB, and were able to retrieve this in the last hour to facilitate our extraction! I could bash on about every small detail of the event but I don’t think it necessary. To sum up, it was well planned, organised and delivered. Perhaps in future a few more objectives and little bit more intel could be added in, but I certainly wouldn’t be out off attending again and look forward to what Luke has planned for the future!

Tacticool M4A1 to "good enough" xm177 build for Vietnam games as a backup rifle (I'm far from stitch-count filmsim!). Good thing is it literally takes me about 90 seconds to swap out the handguard for the rail system, the stock for the regular M4A1 stock and the carry handle for a red dot and back up iron sights. Sticking the magpuls back onto the mags might take a little longer than 90 seconds, but it's still fast! Thanks to @Wavey_Gravey and @Prolish for the parts I needed.
