Drug use at airsoft sites
John_W and 3 others reacted to MandalShArK for a topic
Drugs/Drink with Firearms, or in this case replicas, do not mix well. This will always be a hard No from me and I expect that from any site I play at. Even in the evenings if its a weekend event, all it takes is one idiot to take something that makes their judgement lax then ND whilst fiddling with their RIF for the potential that someone will get hurt. Yes they are toys.. but without eye-pro things change.4 points -

Weather not looking great this weekend - wet weather gear?
Tactical Pith Helmet and one other reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
Gaiters? Where are we, Florida??? (See what I did there. Dad jokes a speciality. I'm here all week, unfortunately for you. Etc) The good ol' weatherman has changed his mind again. Chips definitely being pissed on. Well, according to one weatherman. Another thinks it's only a 10% chance of rain, and it'll be fine and dandy, and I might be taking the factor 20 instead. So, sod it, not worrying any more about getting wet. I bought the poncho just in case. More concerning are my boots. They've arrived. They're great, but they're fairly tight (size 10/44. I think I need 10.5/45). And as they're 2005 vintage, I doubt they're going to stretch anymore. Maybe a good lump of dubbin? So I'll almost certainly wear them for this weekend and then try to swap them for the next size up. (I refuse to feel guilty about doing that as the shop advertised next day posting, and they actually took 5+ days to do it, so I've had no time to try them, send them back for another pair).2 points -

Hi everyone, Just wanted to introduce myself on here - I am a relatively new player from North London currently dragging a full metal AK74 across the grounds of either Reforger Airsoft or Driver Wood activity center π I hope to learn a thing or two on this forum and hopefully make some friends in the process. Anything that fires a projectile needs to be treated with the utmost respect, true 100%. I should imagine that most injuries occur due to egoism and/or lack of respect. Much harder to police. As someone who worked with addicts, I have arrived at the view that most interventions are due to and aimed at behaviour rather than cessation. I wouldn't take illegal narcotics if you paid me (read Druid's comments above!), but I bet that I spot high functioning addicts/users more often than you'd think. Some in pretty responsible positions.1 point -

A penguin is driving a rental car through the desert when suddenly the air conditioner stops working. The penguin, frantic with the heat, swerves into the first car repair shop he sees. Penguin jumps out yelling, "Quick, quick! Drop everything and fix my air conditioner. I'm literally dying from this heat! Really, it's an emergency!" The mechanic says, "Calm down, now. I can fix your car in about a half hour, and you should just go across the street to wait in the ice cream shop. It's cool in there, and they sell soft-serve ice cream." The penguin is thrilled, jumping up and down, and yells, "Yay!! Soft serve is my favourite!", and he scampers across the street waving his stubby wings. Exactly a half hour later the penguin rushes out of the ice cream shop with vanilla ice cream all over his face, and runs into the repair shop, yelling, "Did you fix it!? Did you fix it!?" The mechanic says, "Yeah, no problem. It looks like you just blew a seal." The penguin frantically wipes his mouth and yells, "No fucking way! That's just ice cream!!"1 point -

Film blank prop guns are completely different to publicly available ones. (in UK) Prop guns have a partial restriction in the barrel to increase back pressure but gas is vented from the barrel like a real gun. Public sector blank guns vent vertically from a hole in the top of the barrel. I'm going to assume the cause of this accident was similar to that which killed Brandon Lee... (It was the fault of the armourer for not checking the barrel properly) In one scene they used prop rounds in a magazine or being loaded etc. These may be real round which are inert or plastic ones that look like real bullets. Unfortunately a plastic bullet came off the shell and stuck in the barrel. When blanks were used in another scene the plastic bullet was fired and broke apart when it hit the barrel obstruction but the bits that exited still had enough energy to kill at close range. Nothing like this can happen with consumer blank firers except if someone purposely pushed something into the vent hole. Even then it probably wouldn't have enough energy to cause serious harm.1 point

After reading Tommikkas very good post I think that's exactly what I'm going to, at least for a while. I have a spare cartridge so I'll just pick up some kind of bulb carrier and just refill as required. Thanks lads.1 point

This is a Paul Evers Rig, made specifically for the SAS/14 Int in Northern Ireland..... I actually bought this from an operator. There is a similar one made by Price Western Leather that is often mistaken for this one. If he had one identical to this he was either ex-Regiment/14 Int or it is probably a clone. Cheers.... they're a lot of fun!1 point

Rogerborg reacted to Badgerlicious for a topic
The older black boots I wouldn't touch for comfort. The newer brown boots are good boots, usually at 1/3 of the price new, but you have to go to a shop to make sure it's a pair in decent condition, or buy from somewhere with a generous returns policy . Online retails will send you whatever is the correct size with zero regard for quality. "grade 1" can be a pretty big range, and some boots with ruined soles end up in that bin because few really care to check.1 point -

Fma headset, need help please
Druid799 reacted to concretesnail for a topic
If you have had it working in the past and now there are issues I'd suggest they might have died. If however it's a bed item/first time use issue it might be a mono connection at the ptt and you've got a stereo connection in the headset. I had a similar issue recently and changing the onnetion type to a mono lead sorted it right out.1 point -

Dubbin isn't going to help. Like you say, if they're that old then the chances are that they've stretched as much as they're going to. If they've dried out then you'll want to treat them regardless but beyond wearing thinner socks and anticipating blisters I can't really suggest anything other than just sending them back. Do not underestimate the importance of good footwear. Yes, surplus stuff is cheap but good stuff is pricey for a reason. I had a pair of slightly too tight boots that I wore for one day, two years ago and my big toe nail has only just recovered.1 point

You can sell the parts. Even if they make up a complete gun, because manufacturing a RIF is an offence when they want to assemble them. And that's on them, not on you.1 point

Can you type bigger, itβs hard to read with only one eye1 point

None. The We 1911s use single stack mags which can do 35 RDS on extended mags. The TM extended one can do 40 RDs but you really need a TM 1911 to make use of it. The WE 1911s are really terrible mind.1 point
-
I have to agree. If it was "fully upgraded" then I'm not sure what you expect to happen differently next time. It's be all the same parts internally, and it's not like the shell makes much of a difference. I do have to wonder, are the results that you want based on watching YouTube sniper channels?1 point
-
Op, politely.... you built your T10 wrong. All upgraded snipers will perform the same based on the quality of the barrel, the quality of their hop and the consistency of the power.1 point

Bought new about 4 weeks ago. Not gamed with, saw a steel and wood AKM and impulse bought. Cars power steering pump has decided to start screeming, selling this softens the blow a bit. I only play cqb or western games so I really don't know why I bought it to be honest. Collection strongly prefered, Stoke on Trent, Staffs.Β£175

My favourite thing in life is to have players tell me what the rules are for the scenario that I produced1 point
-
Sadly, even those that have listened to briefings many times, often display a lack of ability to follow them. IMHO all people playing should be made to read out a hard copy, sign it and if they still ignore the brief, boot them out. Sites have rules for a reason. I have played on sites that allow full auto, similar sites that only allow 3 round bursts and 2 second count between those bursts or single shot, as fast as you please. So, if you are a regular at a particular site, it is still important to go through it as you will notice that some things you do forget.1 point

A man sees a sign outside a house - 'Talking Dog For Sale.' He rings the bell, the owner appears and tells him the dog can be viewed in the back garden. The man sees a very nice looking Labrador Retriever sitting there. "Do you really talk?" he asks the dog. "Yes," the Labrador replies. After recovering from the shock of hearing the dog talk, the man asks, "So, tell me your story." The Labrador looks up and says, "Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I joined the SAS. "In no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one imagined that a dog would be eavesdropping. "I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years. But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at Heathrow to do some undercover security work, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded several medals. I got married, had a few puppies, and now I've just retired." The man is amazed. He goes back into the house and asks the owner how much he wants for the dog. "Ten quid," the owner says. "Β£10!!? But this dog is absolutely amazing! Why on earth are you selling him so cheaply?" "Because he's a lying bastard. He's never been out of the garden."1 point

Happened to me a good 15 or so times over 22 years playing. Sometimes a bit of a shock, always played on every time. Never felt the needed to go to hospital. I have heard a few have and mostly out of caution but once again never have I come across anyone with permanent sight loss to any degree due to a BB fragmented through mesh. Even the few hot gun close up incidents I've been told about and been privy to. You would need to be point blanked with a very hot gun for a BB fragment to carry enough energy to cause any serious damage. These 2 incidents where they with the woven type mesh rather than stamped/perforated sheet? As the woven texture splits BBS more readily than stamped sheet.1 point

Has Km Cheated the Chrono at Anzio?
shadowfacex reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
Yes, that's moronic. No outdoor site should be chronoing on 0.2g, and I wish they'd stop talking and thinking in terms of fps. The biggest cause for complaint I can see above is a marshal not asking what weight of BB was being used. But then I've ranted elsewhere about quis custodiet ipsos custodes.1 point -

Has Km Cheated the Chrono at Anzio?
shadowfacex reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
It's entirely unfair to speculate based on incomplete scraps of 2nd hand information. But I'll go ahead and do it anyway: of course he did. Why he's still allowed on any UK site at this point just baffles me. The Depot CQB sodded Dan Wesson style shell loading revolvers off completely after they caught multiple folk doing exactly this, chronoing with power-down then loading the stock shells. It's unfair on the people who use them with the power-down shells, I don't particularly agree with it on principle, but in practice it's a wonder that any chrono cheating sociopaths get caught at all. The elephant in the bunker for me is Mk23s with barrel extensions hidden inside silencers being used without a MED when they can be putting out 1.5J or more. And we know who likes to use those.1 point
