Box of VN mid caps to go with the new XM , ordered on the 18th of last mth from airsoftAsia arrived today so basically 2wks and cost me £44.71 in total , only place I’ve found them in stock in the uk is ‘airsoft supply drop’ and they want £65 all in for them . Sorry I try to support UK business but I’m NOT spending 40% more to do so .4 points -

IronCobra85 and one other reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
It looks bad, it seems bad, but this is every day stuff in 2021 UK. Dibble doesn't care about property theft. Nobody got sliced up a treat, and there's no boobs involved in this story, so it's going nowhere. Some pikeys - yes, hello, Thought Police, pikeys - ripped off a lorry, as they do multiple times a night, every night, with no consequences. The RIFs will be pawned off for pennies on the pound, passed on to 13 year old drug couriers, slung under a bed, forgotten about, or just pitched in a ditch. UK stocks will remain as low as they are for a bit longer, but this too shall pass. It's not the end of the world, or even the end of airsoft.2 points -

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Badgerlicious reacted to Jacob Wright for a topic
Had an absolutely spot on day with the lads down at Combat Airsoft in Thetford. Rain held out until we were nearly finished, no gun issues apart for one of the guys getting a dead battery, and got to use a fair whack of the site. One isolated incident where someone popped into the bunker with three of us and shouted ‘surrender’ and then moaned when I shot him but other than that no gameplay issues to speak of. Can’t recommend the site enough if you’re within distance, not had a bad day there ever!1 point -

I personally struggle to believe that 2000 were taken, that would take ages and you’d need a fair sized vehicle to put them in. Mimms isn’t the darkest quietest truck stop either. But that’s just my opinion 🤷🏼♀️ Regardless, it is a shame and I hope there’s no backlash on the community.1 point -

Yep it's deliberate all right. 1) Certain elements of industry with unsustainable/unrealistic business models are unhappy that their support of endless cheap labour has been staved off. E.g. the haulage industry (driven by the likes of Hoyer). Therefore the present manufactured "crisis" has been weaponised in an attempt to force a change in policy. 2) Government fuck-ups in all areas of life due to genuine catastrophic bungling incompetence having a knock-on affect in... all areas of life. 3) China wants to rule the world. 4) The media craving to make news and policy rather than just report it.1 point -

Nice. I do like the 177. I bought three very basic short VN-style Battleaxe mid-caps from PB a while back to use with the 933. Plastic and only about 5 or 6 quid each. Basic but they work very well. Keep meaning to mod the UAR so I can use them with it too.1 point -

Taiwangun Shipping Disruption (Brexit Related Content)
Pappa Large reacted to Ebeneezer Goode for a topic
Noticing increasingly long lead times on all manner of items, caused by global logistics issues which in turn were caused by almost two years of disruption whilst the world was stopped for a virus. Shipping container prices have increased by multiple factors, constraining supply and increasing costs massively. Meanwhile idiot lockdown-obsessed governments all over the world are learning the hard way that you can't just turn business and logistics on-and-off like a tap. Things take time to ramp up up again after such sudden and unusual disruption. UK-specific issues adding to the mix include Border Farce and the HMRC/Civil Serpent leeches, an aviation industry still recovering from paralysis whilst simultaneously being hammered by Boris' green bollocks, road transport issues caused by state incompetence and corporate greed (shit wages/Ts&Cs) and an entirely manufactured fuel supply "crisis" that has literally been invented from thin air. These issues will continue for some time.1 point -

i helped organise a training day a long time ago for 25-30 people . we split them into 2 groups and in the morning for a couple of hours one group practiced basic accuracy, double taps, transitions and walking and firing whilst the second lot leant the 1,2,3,4 entry using grenades. we swapped them over after lunch until the last hour when we put them into 4 man teams and put them against the instructors in some exercises to practice what they learned. feedback was positive with them accepting that not all that they had been practicing would be useful for all airsoft games but they had all learned something beneficial and had all the basic information on how to get a better cqb team up and running if they wanted. they had all got to practice deploying grenades using teamwork/timing which you dont really get to do anywhere else except in live games, which isnt the best learning environment the instructors were quite colourful characters so just spending a day with experienced shooters giving you tips + plenty of banter was worth the asking price imo cant remember exactly how much we charged them but it was similar to what a days game would have cost and that just covered the cost of the site and the 2 main instructors, we had a few others helping that weren't paid.1 point

CQB training course
Jedi_Master reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
I'm quite intrigued as to whether these training days teach "real world" tactics, or airsoft tactics. Because real world tactics (I've watched a lot of them in Hollywood movies) mean a SWAT team bursting into a den of crashed out junkies at 3am, or a Delta Beret team bursting into a compound full of women and younglings... at 3am. That's a bit different from two teams of essentially equal players all hopped up and tickling their triggers. Absent grenades, airsoft "door kicking" means shoving some fat bloke in a plate carrier into the room to see where he gets murdered from, and then shooting the shirt out of that area. I'm not sure that "Sacrifice Porkins!" is part of any real world doctrine. However, we live to learn, and I'd be interested to know if anyone is teaching something better than that, that actually works in a game of pretend soldiers.1 point -

I can't help but feel the fact so many were stolen means the chances of someone getting busted for it rises considerably. Now if it was a handful or a dozen or two dozen, probably easy to fly under the radar but 2000? That's 2000 opportunities for someone to fuck up. The smart play is to get them all out of the country and back into Europe. I can't see crims wanting to sit on 2000 rifs, nor can I see a good way to offload so many. Wishful thinking perhaps.1 point

Oh so spot on , if your playing a mil-sim or even film-sim game where everyone’s running low/real capacity magazines and actively managing there ammo then yes I could see pretty much any kind of professional training really helping your game , but not on a ‘normal’ walk on gameday . As trigger said when you’ve got adrenaline pumped players running around with a rental AK and a 600rd hi-cap hosing the crap out of anything AND everything they can see then tactics become bit of a moot point ? But yea I’m not saying don’t attended a training day by any stretch , all I’m saying is be prepared to need a very big pinch of salt to go with what your being told , and just enjoy it for what it is .1 point

Shortage of airsoft items in UK
shadowfacex reacted to Lozart for a topic
Palm oil isn't the demon product everyone seems to think though. It has a far denser output for acre than standard veg oil crops so if you force the palm oil producers to abandon it they will actually have to deforest a BIGGER area which is then WORSE for environmental impact. Better to regulate it properly now that it's already there. Plant based packaging is still a good idea though.1 point -
Physical adaptations to your play style, yes. Spunking money on chasing performance to the nth degree, no. Unless you just want to tinker and you enjoy that, in which case more power to you! That said, if it's your only gun then do the basics and then get out and play more. Save up and buy a speedyboi SSG1 and THEN start tearing into the CM16 (assuming that by that point you still want to be doing the whole Dye mask, SpeedQB thing of course).1 point

Shortage of airsoft items in UK
shadowfacex reacted to Ebeneezer Goode for a topic
Add in a strong anti-gun sentiment in the UK, Eco-Nazis wanting to ban everything (plastic BBs? Its a wonder the feckers from XR haven't started chaining themselves up at airsoft sites yet), a general suspicion of anything military, clothing etc and sites going out of business its all against the sport. That said, seeing more and more newbies like myself taking it up this past year which is very encouraging.1 point -

This thread does seem odd. Tbh as long as what other people do does not affect my weekend / game day then fill your boots. All I ask is you adhere to the rules and take your hits and im happy. Outside of that, if you wanna collect guns, patches, wear a hoody, run high caps, run low caps or whatever, its your hobby, if you're happy then who am I or anyone else to judge Edit - And in regards to the thread title (not that the comment was aimed at me but its currently a slow work day...) Why do we need to understand? If it makes the person happy doing X, Y or Z...then it shouldn't matter really1 point -
What are folks thoughts on the 'new' E & L Essential range of AK's?
Northman reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
wonder what the difference with the cheaper version is, maybe internals? it's impossible to tell from the pics if they've cut any corners on the externals, looks pretty much like an e&l, which is a good thing because imo they're the nicest commonly available ak (not counting real sword basically). if you like wood and blued steel then you won't be disappointed. fyi as a general rule most airsoft akm variants tend not to have siderails but pretty much all the ak74 variants will, you can however get an aftermarket rail and bolt it on the side. the platinum versions internal wise are very good, about the only thing that you'd want to consider changing is the hop rubber as they tend to be a bit on the hard side (and that's me being nit-picky), but apart from that and maybe being a bit slow on 7.4v (respectable on 11.1v). it's on a short list of guns (sitting alongside the likes of the scorpion evo) of guns i'd be happy to skirmish completely stock (granted i modded all the ones i've had but i'm a lost cause at this point). no mosfet, but that's a criticism you could level at a lot of guns. of course the internals may well be where they've cut the cost, which would make sense for folks (like me) for whom good enough isn't good enough and insist on yeeting all the internals in a quest to squeeze every last drop out of their pews no matter how good they were to begin with so ironically it's maybe aimed precisely at folks who don't care how well it shoots out of the box. ^with perfect timing to prove my point the cm045 (well, any of the metal bodied cyma range) is the kind of gun that's hard to argue with, not just as a starter gun but just in general. it won't be as pretty or as heavy (which subjectively could be a good thing) as the e&l but it'll lob bb's very very nearly as well and it is basically half the price. tbh if you know what your doing a cyma with £150's worth of bits would make quite an evil proposition. a pretty accurate summation, certainly the cyma's and jg's of this world are an excellent demonstration of the diminishing returns curve in this hobby. think you're onto something there, especially when starting out and you're not necessarily sure how well you'll take to a given platform, i'd say waiting for the cyma to come into stock and spending the extra cash on a bunch of midcaps, an odin and a warfet would be the better solution.1 point -
