    Gun picture thread

Fresh from Mark at FMJUK, here’s my crack at building a DMR Semi only, chronos in at 430-435 with 0.2’s. Started life as a two-tone Cyma that needed some tlc. Fresh spring, new hop unit+barrel, changed the motor to a higher torque Infinity and rewired it for standard Gate-style mosfets. Picked up a wooden stock from Airsofttiger. Sanded, stained and finished etc. Sanded off seam lines, got some slightly unusual (but real-steel accurate) Winchester trades cut and sent it off for a coat of Cerakote E110 Midnight.

  4. Not quite how remember it. More like: - Uninformed, low post count noob comes onto the forums with his two-tone 'specialist platform' - Makes comments about barrel length - Told length doesn't matter compared to other factors - Berates the experienced hand on here that have been building guns for years - Spouts off stuff about physics, experiments and 'do some research' - Is also an arrogant tosser about it - Calls everyone old, senile and incoherent Yep, that sums it up.

  6. Picked up a new hop up unit. Thing is fairly robust, beats the Lonex and Retro Arms for build quality.

  9. At the risk of getting dangerously back on topic, DPD just been and dropped these off: All bought from Tactical Kit and a massive thank you to Ian for his fantastic customer service. Why can't everyone be like that? Right, off to find the PTS EPS stock someone posted on here when this thread used to be about the shit people had bought, but in the meantime, can anyone tell me if a longer barrel is more accurate?
    3 points
  10. So yeah. That's why we all started trying to help. But hey, you go for it. Just remember to get those push ups in, M4s and LA85s weigh more than your super specialised SMGs. You said that you assumed you'd need a longer barrelled gun to play outdoors, we explained why you didn't need to. All you've done since then is tell us that we're all wrong and that you didn't actually say that. Don't let the door hit your arse on the way out.

  12. To those of you that are, & can make that extra effort to get back in shape, whether its weight loss or training, well done 👍,it'll benefit you in more than just Airsoft. But to those of you that like myself (found out today I'm now waiting on at least 3 surgeries), & face a bigger struggle, but are determined to still get out there in the meantime, consider your loadouts ?, more importantly don't feel the pressure to necessarily go "fully loaded", myself I've sorted a molle grab bag, pouches on the exterior mean I can access 2 pistol mags, 3 hi caps for any of my platforms & a 1L Nalgene bottle with ease, plus any bits I need to carry in the bag, fully loaded it still weighs about the same as my favourite warrior chest rig when it's EMPTY ffs, that's a big weight saving plus I'm not wrapped in many layers of tactical nylon, which in itself is enough to start you sweating before the first whistle............. Just saying, if fitness or health is an issue at the mo, don't kill yourselves just to look more 'leet, it's not worth it & will definitely spoil your first games back 🚑

    I'm in Business!

I've just launched manufacturing and selling my first 3d printed airsoft accessories. Does anyone else on here do the same? How would you recommend going about it? Building a website, starting an Etsy store or something else? And one for the mods, would you have a problem with me advertising and selling my products in the classifieds?

  21. No, the fact everything you’re saying only serves to spread misinformation is doing that for you. Your ‘specialised platform’ is a version 2 gearbox (with a proprietary tappet plate) and a 6.05 217mm inner barrel, all wrapped up to make it not look entirely like an AR outside... while being precisely that on the inside. You’ve made it very clear you think you know better, so you go ahead and do whatever suits you best. P.S. The Mk23 doesn’t have good range and accuracy ‘for a pistol’, it has good range and accuracy ‘for an airsoft replica’.
    2 points
  22. Nobody said it was your problem. I was explaining why your post may have been misinterpreted. The platform (specialised or not) is irrelevant, the critical points remain the same. Past 200mm barrel length you will not get massive improvements in range and accuracy by adding 100mm or so length. The most important factors are bore quality and hop effectiveness. Getting a longer barrelled M4 will not make you more accurate or have way better accuracy unless it also has a more effective hop unit and a better barrel than either your TK45c or your Firehawk (which is ENTIRELY possible given that they aren't the best to begin with). None of which should stop you from buying whatever you please (and I'm sure it won't). As for the MK23, no I mean good range and accuracy as an absolute regardless of platform.

  24. The ‘science of airsoft’ when it comes to optimisation ultimately lands with volume matching to make sure that little cushion of air of shoves your BB along is Bob on, or as close as you can get, for the weight of BB you’re using. There’s a whole lot of snake oil and horse shit out there in regard to what a longer barrel actually does and I was simply trying to offer some advice because your initial post stated you were ‘under the assumption’ that you might have to buy a different RIF to play in the woods. Gauging the tone as best I can it seems like somehow you’ve taken offence to that, so I’ll go ahead and exit the conversation there at the risk of ‘flexing my knowledge’ too much again.

  25. Wow. That's a spechul arsesoft supplies level of customer service. To accuse a customer of cheating rather than admit there could be a problem with something they sold is just cuntish

  26. Arrived yesterday. Holosun Micro Classic HS403C I had ordered the B variant but after 2 months they still hadn't stock so they offered this more expensive model for no extra. I think the only difference is the solar power. Is my first ever decent optic that isn't one of the £40 knock of red dots from you name it airsoft website. Thing I am most impressed with is very very little parallax effect which the cheaper red dots suffer from. Great build quality as well and much cheaper than RS military optics but still retains that T1/2 look. If you want a quality optic you can actually use that isn't expensive this is the one. Also rocking the guns modify T1 lens cover.

  27. Ares BBs seem to be the floor sweepings: I tested some bio BBs a while back and the 0.25g Nuprols actually seemed pretty reasonable, however the 0.20g Nuprols I tested were a quite soft & easy to deform. I guess how good/bad they are probably varies by weight/composition/whether they're bio or not as well as from batch to batch etc... The G&G 0.25s seemed ok but I found air bubbles in some of them. Geoffs seem to be the best overall out of all of the BBs I tested (I did notice they were a little on the softer side, but didn't think they were soft enough to be concerned about... that may be an issue for GBBRs though).

  28. I started running again a few months ago after a long break(at least 10 years) so I started with a 3 miler which turned into a 5 miler and didn't feel as though it was that difficult until two days later. Two days of no phys but lots of stretches and I was back out doing another 5 miler. Then Ive slowly began to add press ups, pull ups and sit ups and fell runs (love the burn) and I've gone back to a size 32 from a 34 already. I am not that fit/strong but I do enjoy doing it as I know all too well the rewards for getting out and pushing yourself. I stopped drinking alcohol 2 years ago and have cut out red meats, pork, excessive sugar and all processed foods and only cook fully nutritious meals. Im 36. Start with a short walk and go from there(try to team up with partner/friends for encouragement) Don't make any form of exercise an unpleasant activity. Don't give up too much (like snacks, beers etc) straight away. Never feel ashamed of your current fitness level or compare yourself to others. And remember: Airsoft doesn't require you to pass any fitness tests to have a cracking day so ignore me and go large with extra cheese with that full fat coke/can of monster.

  34. I am absolutely baffled how a post saying words to the effect of 'you don't need a RIF with a longer barrel to perform well in woodland games, but if you want to buy one go for it' turned into this. But whatever, at the rip roaring age of 30 I'm clearly very senile and that's somehow a statement that needed to be debated... for 2 entire pages. I wish you good luck with whatever it is you wind up buying, I for one am thoroughly looking forward to using my 'specialised platform' at my next CQB games. I've seemingly been incorrectly calling it a pistol, but now I know better... so thanks for that.

  35. *Sigh* if there is a single factor with inner barrels that determines overall performance, it's not length OR the bore size. It's the quality of the internal finish. You can take a mediocre stock brass barrel, and lap it to a mirror finish. Assuming it's straight and true, it will shoot comparably or better than many aftermarket barrels. Hop units, rubbers and nubs have a much bigger impact on range and accuracy. Edit - Back on topic, I had these arrive today for various projects:

  37. Best thing is the site has a 450 limit on bolt actions and my mates gun was a very nicely set up L96 that was doing exactly 445 right on the nose near every time . Yes a Cyma AK74 that a 47 ! 🤦‍♂️ Don’t know about you lot but me’s definitely getting a ‘retailer clearing out there part-ex Cupboard’ vibe from this persons adverts ?

  38. I did get most of the stuff I wanted in before Jan. However when gunfire is the only place on the planet that genuinely has sets of 5 PPS Shell Ejecting Gas Shells at a reasonable price, I had no choice and ordered knowing of the UPS issues. Edit: I can either get 2 shells for £13 not including postage in the UK. Or (At the time of purchase) Or 5 shells for just over £18 taking into account import fees from Gunfire. It's a no brainer.

  39. Maybe I'm the lucky one but I've not had any real issues with my Earmors. The spring in the battery compartment leaves a bit to be desired but it's nothing that a quick stretch with a pair of pliers doesn't fix. I am tempted by a pair of Howard Leights though based on cost and the desire for a second headset to use when I'm not wearing a helmet.

  40. yeah, not been doing much lately. With the dark nights and weather I have not been cycling to the office (on days I am in!) and runs are loooow on the list. Now my lower back issue has resolved its self (for now) I need to get back into some running in the evenings and some bodyweight / dumbbell exercise other times. Literally my Trevail 5kg plates every time I go into the shed:

  41. As has been summised by others in this tale of woe, 'Held by Customs' is a lot of horseshit as UPS act as the Customs agents, they are the ones holding it! It should read 'Not got round to calculating how much we are going to charge you yet'. Similarly, 'In Transit' means 'Been bouncing around our warehouses waiting to be scanned yet again'. Oh and I have it on good authority that UPS have zero access to the UKARA database, so it renders their Firearms Declaration form even more useless. For those who have the 'Waiting for docs' crap, I would suggest proactively emailing their Firearms form to their clearance department and including the Tracking Number. Can't hurt at this stage.

  44. in fairness same factory just means same building, the cheaper brands can still use different tooling with an argument being that the cheaper brands use the tools that have worn out to where they're unacceptable for the premium brands. alternately steps with minor benefits can be skipped (eg polishing stages) or perhaps rounds off the line that fail to meet the tolerance spec for brand A get given to brand B who have wider tolerances. and ofc raw material can come in 2 entirely different grades from entirely different suppliers. the tl:dr being even if nuprol bb's are made in the same factory as geoffs, doesn't make them not shit

  45. Respect dude!... that's a good weight loss.... ! Before all this Covid lark, I used to spin 2-3 times a week at my gym... it was friggin brilliant coming out of that class totally shattered.... but I knew it was doing me more good than harm. I lost so much weight and had calves like a rugby player... 1.5 yrs later and it's a different story!
