Yep, & it won't change unless players voice their opinions & then vote with their feet. What gets me though, if your not going to enforce pretty much any of the "core rules" of Airsoft, why bother with employing (?) a team of Marshalls.4 points -

It does only take a few bad apples though. Driver also strikes me as a site that only cares about maxing player count. It means enough for walk-on only games so they go hard, but there's a much higher chance of some dipshits turning up. But the site has your money now, and since they're the "premium" site in the area so they don't care, they'll always get players next weekend.3 points -

That's pretty much the correct military way to store an AR 15. You can't safety an m4 unless the gun has been charged. You would normally make sure gun was safe, mag out, empty chamber etc etc, send the bolt forward and fire off the action in semi. Then store it that way.3 points -

I can see very little point to it at my local sites. It seems to be more about having a few meekish, warmish bodies in day-glo vests standing around taking pictures for InstaFace, while the mandatory Angry Man yells "No full auto in buildings" over and over again without taking any corrective action. Fortunately, the players themselves are pretty decent, so it's rarely an issue. A notable exception is (or was) the Depot where the marshalling was generally active and effective. Players (self included on occasion) were taken aside and had things explained, rather than tiresome tirades of ineffectual generalised yelling. Dickish behaviour got you punted off site, and a marshal got sacked off for cheating chrono. I even saw the site owner being spot-check chronoed in game by his own lead marshal - the friendly-but-firm bouncer that I now view as the ideal template. I have no idea what the consequences would have been, but as an illustration that the rules apply to everyone, no favouritism or exceptions, it was hard to beat.2 points -
Ear pro for CQB
Tactical Pith Helmet and one other reacted to Groot for a topic
If you want to retain situational awareness you are going to need to invest in Milspec ear pro. Simple as that. I have had the same set of Sordins now for around 12 years and they are still going strong. https://www.earshotcommunications.co.uk/shop/product/sordin-75302-x-g-supreme-pro-x-green-earshell-camo-headband-gel-earpads/ Back then you could buy the parts to mod them into having a microphone as well. I don't think these parts are available now. So would be worth running to the mic'd version. What ever you do. It will cost you less than losing your hearing.2 points -

Lozart and one other reacted to HuttArmouries for a topic
Tm specifically dosent make their guns for export. Its one of the reasons they can put trade marks on their guns without licensing. In Japanese law if you are only making a product for sale in japan you can use other peoples logos and such no issue. If they started making them for export they wouldn't be able to use h&k trades and such. Thats as far as I understand it. Take that with a pinch of salt. I may be wrong. Third party companies buy from tm and export for them so if they started making higher fps versions that would mean they are making versions for export and would lose that protection.2 points -

Any of the surefire EP’s will be gtg, they have a cap (usually red) you can flick open if you want more sound or to have a conversation without removing them. Howard Leight impact sports are a good cheap option, they don’t look out of place among the mil style headsets, theyre slimmer too! Replace the pads with gel pads and you have a very comfy setup IMO.2 points -

You know what I'd like? Some basic honesty. I mean, if a site said "We don't care about chrono, we don't care about over-shooting, we don't care about hit-taking. Go out there and mag dump on each other. First guy to cry loses." I'd actually respect that. At least you'd know what you were getting into.2 points

This. I have a couple of sets of 3M Peltor XPs that are amazing, and really help maintain situational awareness. Watch out for cheap knock-offs and low-end stuff though - many are monoaural which completely kills your directional hearing. My neighbour (who also plays) found this the hard way thinking a cheapo Aliexpress set would be in any way decent.2 points -

And they went through his bedside drawers? Clearly more to it, if there's any truth to it at all. Well, well, Scotland, and apparently fell foul of airgun licensing. Now, that's something that I've been wondering about for some time given that I've yet to see this "frangible" exemption that's bandied around for paintball. And these "home defence" guns clearly aren't intended to be used for paintball, given that they're being flogged with rubber or plastic projectiles. If Dibble did find something in the 1J to 6 or 12 foot-pound range, loaded with plastic (or steel for all we know) and ready to go, I can't see any other reasonable classification for it other than an air weapon. It is not. The only defence that we have is in https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-violent-crime-reduction-act-2006-commencement-no-3-order-2007-firearms-measures which only lists airsoft. Looks like paintballers are trying to cosy up to our defence after acknowledging the bleedin' obvious: that something which is a realistic imitation of a firearm is indeed a realistic imitation firearm. The cheeky cads then go on to claim that while they enjoy the same defence, they have no need to demonstrate it with a UKARA-a-like scheme of playing history. They can just buy membership in the Paintball Gang and tool up. Which is really no worse than airsoft retailers pretending that cosplay is a defence, or accepting Military Vehicle Trust membership for purchase of modern RIFs. Verrrry interesting, thanks for the the reference.2 points -

Well that's two sites I will not bother with. The sites may be good, but if the marshals aren't going to sort problems then no point me going. Really can't be arsed with dickheads like that on the field, when there's other sites that do deal with the tossers.2 points -

Spot on. Not a lot of people realise that the police can pick it up and test fire with anything A major win for airsoft when the redefinition was drafted This is the key point - the police, Home Office & Border Force have had a good relationship with the UKPSF and we are reliant on the ‘intention’ of the law and that something doesn’t make it to court, or that dickhead-ism gets prosecuted on other points A change in political view or the wrong case could go very badly None - and worse than that in the old days, Scottish paintball sites were constantly raided for unlicensed section 5 firearms because the definintion of an airgun didn’t cover CO2 This is a term that I very much dislike. It sounds like we are hiding something with secret words I get very hot under the collar when spotty teenagers try to tell me it’s not a ‘paintball gun’ but a ‘marker’ and that I should learn my history because ‘they have always been called markers’ They were ‘paint marking guns’ and ‘paint marking pistols’, which fired paint to actually mark items. We fire a coloured gelatine that rubs off ’Marker’ is very much a PC term that comes from the US in the late 80s/90s to ‘disassociate’ from the gun nuts so that mums will let their kids play ….. and then had bloodthirsty team names1 point

Ahoy and welcome. Websites are getting fewer and further between. There are some Facebook groups, but, urgh, Facebook. "UK Airsoft Community 2.0" seems to be the least bad. A lot of YouTube airsoft is clickbait, fakery, and toxic drama, I've largely given up on it. If you want unvarnished technical commentary and some giggles, we do have quite the man-love for https://www.youtube.com/c/NegativeAirsoftTech The G&G CM16 used to be the default choice for a budget M4 AEG. I wouldn't say they've got worse, just that they've stood still and raised their prices in a market that's crammed with better featured - and cheaper - alternatives. Their microswitch based guns are also fussy about batteries. There are plenty of happy owners of each, but I personally wouldn't touch any VFC with a bargepole due to ropey internals, and Krytacs have nothing special on the inside to justify the price. Both have good externals, but that's not your priority. I'd agree with @EDcase on CYMA and JG (Jing Gong) being solid choices. CYMA used to be viewed as a no-frills budget-only brand but they're cheap because they make so many of them - my bargain basement CM.516 has nasty plastics, but is cockroach tough. Their newer Blue and Platinum ranges are now credible mid range contenders. Specna Arms, mayyyybe. They pulled a bait-and-switch with their OEM and the quality plummeted. It's since recovered a bit, and I took a gamble on an Edge last year which has worked out well. They're quite fussy about mags though, I have a thread on that here. In your budget, I'd be looking at an Edge 2.0 with the well featured Gate Aster mosfet (the Gate X-ASR offers nothing more than trigger contact protection). The "ONE" range reportedly has better internals, but fewer features. The other option getting lots of love at the moment is the Double Eagle M90X / M91X range which offer great features include a decent fire control system at bargain price. Your problem might not be choosing, but finding anything in stock. With the supply chain issues in the Orient, shipments are few and far between, and the good stuff sells out in very short order. Not to take anything you're told as a guarantee. Airsoft guns are really expensive toys, any you can get a peach or a lemon at any price point, with any label on it. Set your expectation to be delighted if they work at all, and try and have a cheap backup handy.1 point
