  2. Just Another Black n Tan AR ....... but this one is mine and therefore my favourite (even despite the terrible photos). Needs a service as it's been rattling around in storage for 2 years, and I also need to have the polymer receiver changed for the metal one I have.

  3. Well, today's game at Reforger turned into a bit of an impromptu AFUK day out. Arranged to meet up with @GAMBLE and @Honey Badger 63, then before the morning brief we bumped into @Floperatorand @Keldon Was a great day, slightly marred by some dickish behaviour from the other team. For example Gamble getting full auto in the back of the neck at very close range, Ramon getting full auto in the goggles while he had his hand up (Marshall witnessed this and went ballistic), but otherwise a really fun day at a great site, with a bunch of tossers I would definitely play with again.

  7. Bit of a mixed bag today. A lot of frustration and things not working properly and games being a bit messy. It started off promising with everything working at chrono but then I immediately ran into issues out on the field. The AK was misfeeding and double feeding and hopping really inconsistently so I wasn't having much luck with it. Then it started acting like the battery was dead so I went back to the safezone when it started working again randomly. Tried the sniper but I think I need to clean the barrel as the accuracy was atrocious. I carried on anyway but I was shooting a lot and not hitting much. Went back to the AK after lunch and nursed it through the rest of the day. I started to have a better time until I lost a pistol mag. Especially annoying as I'd planned on upgrading from the viper tacos soon anyway but too late now. The actual kit I was using was great besides the pistol mag pouches. My FRV belt and WAS RPC were solid and super comfortable all day and the rubber tacos held the am mags in really well and got some good pictures.

  8. Bittersweet weekend for me. I'll start with the negative, because there's only one thing (but it was pretty major). The VSR managed to tear its hop rubber. I swapped the suppressor and threaded adapter for the original end cap (no other changes and it was shooting perfectly two weeks earlier when I last used it), and it managed to push the barrel in or something which then caused the rubber to tear and fold in on itself from the barrel side and all along the contact patch, meaning it wasn't hopping at all. I originally thought it was clipping the end cap, but I was wrong. I've put the suppressor back on and will just scrim it up next time I go to a Vietnam game so it's not on show, because I'm not using that end cap ever again! However, let's move onto the many many positives. Vietnam airsoft was fun as all hell. I had to do it with my £130 AEG m14 build that I brought as a backup because my VSR died as I said above, but it was a lot of fun bouncing the GIs all through Saturday. From what I gathered from the other guys I went with, VC/PAVN are usually pretty badly outnumbered and usually means they die horribly, but this game was balanced as the guy who organised it refused to sell more US tickets until VC/PAVN numbers went up. As a result, we absolutely hammered them through Saturday (though I don't know how it ended on Sunday as I could only do the one day). Favourite part was a bit of escape and evasion I had to do after the GIs managed to push us out of a fort (well, the team took a prisoner and fell back from the position), leaving me lying completely still in a concealed position as the GIs were all around me. Managed to take a few out on the approach with the m14, then a few up close with the 1911, but I then just had to lie totally silent as they took my friend captive as I couldn't take them all on by myself. Managed to avoid detection, waiting for a gap in their patrols before making my escape back to base. Real heart-pumping, adrenaline fuelled fun and the moments I absolutely love, being a traditional bush wookiee. I did almost get into a fight though, for the first time in my 16 years of airsoft. Some GIs marched into our base and demanded our objectives, completely ignoring the morning briefing where it was explicitly stated that our base couldn't be attacked and therefore we couldn't bring any of our objectives there, instead carrying them with us in the field. When I told him this, he said he didn't care and that I was now his prisoner, so I shot him point blank and said that I wasn't; there were no bang kills and I never accepted any surrender. I then got lit up full auto by his teflon-coated friend, that I shot with the m14 as well, with an m16 at about 5m away (it was also a semi-only game outside of support guns) and we finally managed to get them to leave, though the other guy who was with me was prodding him with a stick, calling him a little boy and telling him to walk away and such because he was acting like a baby. He turned around and looked like he was about to start swinging, but I think one of the other US guys talked him out of it and they finally left. I thought it was all very amusing, personally; being a chonky 6'5 martial artist I wasn't really that scared if he did start swinging. Absolute man-baby hours and fortunately the only episode I experienced in the day 🤣. Most of the US guys I spoke to were great guys! Didn't play much today though. I was exhausted from sneaking all over Gunman Eversley Alpha all Saturday and had very little sleep over the weekend because of timings and discomfort while camping on-site on Friday, plus it was today where I found out my VSR hop rubber was torn and that, combined with the tiredness, just made me say "screw it, I can't be bothered". Ordered two new rubbers (will test between 80 and 85 degree Maple Leaf silicone autobots). Shout out to all the PAVN/VC guys at Eversley over the weekend, you were wonderful to fight alongside and we worked really well as a team (especially whoever had that damned whistle. The charges were glorious!). Shout out to most of the US guys too, especially the Hawaiian guys who finally dug me out of my position while I was harassing one of your bases in the afternoon. You guys were a class act and it was a pleasure to play against you.

  9. The lad and I toddled off to Tower Airsoft and had another good day there. As a site, it is nothing fancy, being a smallish site with a village, a bridge, a castle and a church among the trees. However, it seems to attract a good group of players (about 40 today), is well organised and really well marshalled by the Camo team, and has a great safe zone. The games were simple but engaging and I did rather enjoy taking out the same ghillie suited sniper three times over the day; the little LR300 has a surprisingly long range. We will be off to another site next weekend, before the lad returns to university for his exams and some OTC activities.

  11. Been buying quite a few things over the past couple of weeks... First off, I bought a replica ww1 uniform from soldier of fortune. After asking advice on this forum, I spoke to a couple of re-enactors who all say they sourced their kit from SoF, so that's where I went.. (Haven't photographed the webbing, as it just looks like a tangled mess, but I do have it 😃 ) Already fitted a Northamptonshire regiment badge to the cap.. Next I purchased some spare magazines for the Lee Enfield, as well as a red dot sight with riser rail and a patch. I also bought a dog tag striker pad... (because I am fed up with the striker pads on my pyro falling off) All bought from Socom tactical and then finally... Today I purchased a real steel BSA No.9 peephole rear sight with matching mount plate for the SMLE... I just need to make up a longer screw to go through the upper hole as well as the safety lever... (currently it just has one lower screw and the original spacer holding it in place)

  19. Yep, great day out. Did you get any video? I'll definitely be making Reforger my regular venue, at least while the weather is so good. Could do with some more covered area in the safe zone, but the regulars seemed to have it figured out with folding chairs and tables so they could work out of their cars. Marshal staff seemed to be pretty on the ball, and the free bottled water was very welcome. On a personal level I had a good time with my kit setup, everything was comfortable (those mesh gillie suits are great) and worked for me, and I didn't have any technical issues. The second battery for the M4 ran out in literally the last 10 seconds of the last game just as the other team rushed our position in a mad last charge - cue a mad scrabble at my holster and some panicky pistol fire 🙃

  21. Softair Italia (.it, the actual store, not .eu which is a warehouse in either France or Switzerland) is actually half an hour drive from me. The owner is a bit speshul so he might have filed the wrong information on the package, I'd just ring UPS and ask what information needs to be written on the parcel, then transfer said information to the store.. Regular post + customs is a shitty combination these days.

    Stuck Barrel Nut

If you like tinkering with AR’s then it’s worth getting an AR vice block , this will give a bit more support and let you get a proper supported grip on the barrel nuts .

  25. I'd second what floperator said, and add that a gorilla of snake grip tool might be a useful thing to use.

    Stuck Barrel Nut

Get some wd40 around it and let it seep into the threads for a little while. Then sometimes a few sharp taps with a screwdriver handle or small hammer can free up the part, and when you go to undo it, a slight move to tighten first before changing direction to unscrew it.

  29. Bic tactical do them. You have to supply your own duct tape as they don’t come with a solid mount. Make sure you used correctly threaded tape as CCW duct tape will damage a CW barrel thread. Alternatively there is the MagZippo’s version. Some people like them but they tend to make it barrel heavy. I wonder what happened to the lad who wanted to build an airsoft flame thrower user a petrol leaf blower? I’m sure he used to play at Ulitmate Wargames. Anyhow this is why we have November the 5th burns unit 2 for 1 special offers. 😉

  30. The flame (or spark canister in older models) on flamethrowers is there to ignite only and do not prevent the flame entering inside and blowing the whole thing up. The output pressure does that. It may be tempting but DON'T mix gas airsoft with any kind of ignition source. You'll regret it and may end up in one of those videos of stupid people 😆 If you want a cool effect when shooting get a 'Spitfire tracer' (although it doesn't work with shotguns)

    Noob in need of help!!!

Yeah, Deans (also called T-Connectors) are the best for efficiency. You should get a 7.4v Li-Po (or two) 1000mAh or higher. (Not Nuprol) ...and a decent charger like a SkyRC s60 or similar. (Not Nuprol)

  33. At the price range your asking about near all the brands you’ll find on sale in the UK will generally perform about the same , it’s when the price starts climbing above your price limit you’ll start to see the difference in performance . So I’d say just get what ever you like the look off the most . 👍
    1 point
  34. You want to get Deans connectors, it’s a small high performance connector that will allow you to use LiPo batteries, mini-tamiya can melt with sustained use.

  35. My airsoft day has gone very badly. I got all my kit together over the last few days, including rebuilding my F2000 with a new 14 tooth piston, and it seemed to be shooting pretty well, so I had 5 guns to take for the day. New set of Lonex flash mags in my mag pouches. And I woke up this morning to sunshine. Marvelous! Drove to the site to be greated with an empty car park and not a sign of life. Did I turn up a day early? Nope, it's been cancelled and I'd missed the email 😬🙁😂 The local council has blocked use of the woods for airsoft. Bastards! I need to pew pew!

  38. I've had it happed a few times, likely caused by overloading mags when I've been in a rush. Thankfully never caused any damage when doing so🤞
    1 point
  39. Stick something in the mag insert(sponge), tape the sight lenses and any numbering on scope elevation etc, bit of spong on front of barrel. Extend the stock and grab the mags you intend to use as these may as well be painted. As for painting... You sound like you're well versed. +1 for krylon matt.
    1 point
  40. It only causes damage if the mag is fully loaded with bbs to the point where the spring is fully conpressed. As long as there is a one or two BBs of compression left it is a ok to insert the mag with the slide forward.

  42. Hubris, over-familiarity and assumptions really messed me up yesterday. So many glowing reviews of Airsoft Plantation on here I figured being a long weekend I'd have to try. Not needing to book is nice in a way but should be accounted for in the game types better from what I saw, various areas are only linked by a few narrow gaps through hedges that you'd probably be injured by if you tried to push through. The last game that was supposed to be turned around just wasn't because us on the red team held back the attacking side so long. That aside, personally I screwed myself because I didn't actually bother to spend 30 seconds test firing my guns before packing them as they were working a few months ago when I last played, but some-fuckin-how my ACR sounds like it's stripped its' piston while sat in storage. It is the old PTS which is OEM by Ares though so if I left it compressed I guess the cheese gave way. My L85 (pictured) probably hasn't seen a game for pushing 6-7 years; the 345 FPS and high hop combined with me using up my .2s and a new optic was a recipe for shooting almost vertical - could not aim low enough to participate in the game and the hop dial kept spinning infinitely, which again I'm sure was fine when I put it away last. It was looking like I'd have spent my cash and fuel for nothing and would be heading home about 1030 as I didn't even bring a pistol. Obviously you don't quit til' all options are exhausted, so I took the bullpup apart, literally just looked and prodded a bit, looked down the barrel while adjusting the hop, reassembled carefully, adjusted the elevation zero as far as possible and in the end only missed maybe 45 minutes worth of play and the gun was running great after that. I've been bringing 2 long guns to games pretty much since I started and I couldn't believe it when I was facing the prospect of driving an hour back home before lunch frankly, stunned. That's life kicking me in the butt for being at this too long and getting lax, you can't let it happen as a walk-on. Anyway, mini review. Price is good (£25), main guy running it is excellent, tons of covered benches in the SZ, gents are not bad and actually had hand soap and paper towels, I think the water was drinkable but brought plenty. Burger van isn't bad at all, about £5.50 for chicken+bacon and some crisps since they don't do chips, quality middling but absolutely fine and they take card. Was slightly taken aback they site doesn't do card at this point, but then they'd have to put the price up in fairness, just wish this was made obvious on their website (unless I'm a total blind bat). We did start the safety brief almost 25 minutes late which frankly I was not impressed by, but the rule set seems decent overall, apart from perhaps the 'gas' (smoke) grenade thing which is weird. They say they spot chrono all the time but I didn't witness that, what I did witness was 2 marshals having their own little mini game within the game, also disappointing. I personally enjoy the fact of just leaving 2 chronos just outside the SZ for me to use myself, it's a pure honour game and on the one hand people can always modify and break energy rules, but if there's no morning chrono and rare (if any) spot checks I do have some small concerns. Considering how many were in attendance, a 97% well behaved bunch it would have to be said, seems a good place for that. There we a couple of kids and dragged-along girlfriends playing who seemed happy and content when I saw them which is a strong indicator. I think the game types sometimes made poor use of a very large site and I think they've bitten off more than they can chew in terms of areas/props as everything I saw was falling apart and full of rubbish. I wouldn't go back without a DMR/BASR either purely as those guys dominated given the layout, and it's a bit far for me to regularly travel given the layout doesn't lend to the closer in battles I like. If you want 'woodland' type ranges but with more features and lots of players though, absolutely, give a game a try.

  48. I wouldn't have paid that much for one. However having bought a clone for about £20 (no idea what they run to now), I can see the point. Very. You click the mag in, and it's literally just a few winds of the wheel to get it fully loaded. It makes reloading the work of seconds rather than minutes and gives you more time in the safe zone for banter, updating your airsoft Instagram page, interpretative dance, or whatnot.
