No i mean, he has a point. There are much better chassis to throw a pistol into if you want that carbine'esk look. These and I think I saw an airsoft MP5K briefcase ones. Both silly money and make zero sense. Other than for like 5 seconds of "look at this" in the safe zone or some hardcore role play. Its not like you are going to get the drop on someone in the woods... "Wait... I think that suitcase might be ... yes yes hes shooting at me now"2 points

It's okay, not everyone can have superb taste, but at least you're open to admitting your flaws... IMI holster plus a molle mount is great, I use one for my p226 and it's never let me down. Warrior Assault Systems for the pistol mag pouches, because they're just plain fantastic. The Warrior holster can still press the mag release if it's pressed on at a certain angle, which probably won't happen unless you find yourself crawling around a lot. The IMI ones won't because they're hard. If you ever want to mount a flashlight to it, go with Kydex Customs. Those holsters are fantastic and can mount onto certain flashlight models.2 points

Yeah and how to thrown mk5's into a room without the feckin thing hitting the door frame, bouncing out and killing six of your team stacked up in corridor amid cries of 'wanker', 'muppet',' fuck sake mate'. Oh how we laughed......well I did 🤭 💣💥 Regards2 points

Hello all, hope you're all getting through this lockdown ok. Thought I would say hello, used to play a few years back at section8 but due to job loss stopped. Once this lockdown is over defiantly getting back into it. Bit of an old one (59) but still up for a laugh, was looking for something to do during this lockdown and pulled the guns I have out of the cupboard and from there decided to try it again, now I can't wait. One good thing, due to this lockdown I had plenty of time to tinker with my old CA AUG and finally managed to get it to shoot more than two bb's in a row, got it to the point it might actually be able to use in a skirmish. Also upgraded my G&G, didn't really need it but I was bored.1 point

Definitely agree that you should get it dirty first! More than anything, it sets a bar. Between Tackle, Davegolf, Adolfhamster and SittingDuck there’s no problem you can cause that they can’t diagnose and steer you toward a solution. YouTube wise, Negativeairsoft is worth a watch for UK velocity related advice. As I learned, our relatively low limits cause new headaches that other markets don’t have to worry about. The golden rule of teching is: Dont do anything until you’ve got a second gun in the boot of the car to resort to in the worst case scenario!1 point

At a guess, Big Dragon or SHS. Both have a Larue replica on the market, although SHS don't list a 10in on their website. I don't think they come with trademarks anymore either.1 point -

Judging by the mounting hardware, I'd say clone. There should be five holes in the back of the rail, the extra two are threaded for an anti-rotation plate to be bolted on. That, and one of the QR sockets seems have gone walkies. Unlikely (but not impossible) on the RS.1 point -
Yes still had some bits and pieces, and my guns, over the last few months have got everything I need to get started again. Just need this lockdown to be lifted now. Due to having so much time on my hands I learned a lot getting my old AUG running sweet, so going to be looking for a project gun., enjoy the tech side of it as well.1 point

I have a SA E-07! So maybe in a couple of years and £200 later mine might look like yours! The only modification so far is a torch and the P226 so that it has a companion!1 point

UKARA is there to support the retailers. And only the retailers. I think the situation is somewhat different in the UK compared to Australia. We are allowed to own devices that can fire projectiles at relatively safe speeds (say, compared to airguns), it's the realistic shape and colour that causes the issue. If RIFs are banned, then Airsoft could continue with Nerf shaped/coloured guns as a hobby. Many would hate it and sack it off, but the basic gameplay concept could continue.1 point -
Melted TM P226
Speedbird_666 reacted to Steveocee for a topic
The devil in me says this: If you had a valid defense then you wouldn't buy an IF in the first place. It's a TM though, just buy the OEM TM parts as they'll fit better, work better and probably be in the "right" colour for you.1 point -
I can actually add some weight to this. I had police ask if they could speak to me. Because someone I used to associate with, who had seen the RIFs in my home had informed them that I had some kind of firearm. Two non armed police officers came to my door, no warrant, and politely explained and asked if they could see said firearm. Upon discovering it was a RIF they chuckled, had no further questions, didn't ask for a defence and simply left.1 point

No email, but in your profile there's the "Certificate of insurance" and policy from Zurich. As far as I was aware by the writings of the VCRA there's nothing wrong with owning a RIF and you don't need a valid defence to own one. It is the sale and importing of them. Again could be wrong but I think the liability is also on the seller. So even if I didn't have insurance docs I think a police officer searching my home wouldn't have any grounds to ask for my defence. Could totalllllly be wrong about this but that has always been my reading of the law.1 point -
Yep exactly, now I know I am a legit airsofter. And the pic was me at a game when I used to play more. But to be honest I would totally understand if sites stopped accepting it. It is way too easy to get. But right now I didn't feel like I had an alternative.1 point
-
One of the founding members in fact! Exactly. There's plenty of people that will accept JustCos insurance as a valid defence for buying a RIF. Like @AlphaBear says, if you're a registered member of a proper club/organisation (like the 501st or Rebel Alliance) then that's good enough. I mean, re-enactors are just cosplayers at the end of the day. SERIOUS cosplayers but still...1 point
-
I have a "Just Cos" account. Cost me like £20 and ordered a RIF that day. It's accepted by more and more sites at the moment but for those who don't then I am considering Sportsmans association.1 point

There are various official cosplay clubs in the UK. If you can prove you belong to one of these clubs with evidence of you on their official events then that may well work. I find it hard to believe that any Tom Dick or Harry who has attended a comic con, as a paying public guest and not part of an official club, can then say it’s a defence. It’s not. Let’s be pragmatic here. However if you belong to an official club then that’s another matter (I’ve repeated myself). Let’s give Fire Support a little more credit. They have been retailers for 20plus years and they do know if people are trying to take the mickey.1 point

Their Bournemouth site was where I began in paintball, and was also the birthplace of my events ‘career’ (The legendary Takhur Ghar 22-2-2009) I played at Alton a few times, but it was further away and the ground was harder on my knees with stones below the topsoil. In the photos a lot of the site does look ‘clean and fresh’, that could be due to use of promo pictures when each zone is built. But if you checkout paintball gameplay photos on Facebook in recent years the areas do tend to have a ‘clean’ look They have been under new management since my old days there (not so new now) The old management kept a full timer on site for maintenance works and new builds, so they may have a combination of their works on changeover a number of years ago plus continuous change https://www.facebook.com/camouflagepaintball/1 point

Weirdly identical situation for me, sold up the vast majority of the various Warhammer bits I had last year having realised it's just gathering dust, some of that went into savings and the rest was deemed 'other hobby money'. There were definitely some impulse purchases I somewhat regret, largely kit to try and 'perfect' my load bearing so I have a massive pile of 'not going to be used' cordura and nylon I need to sell at some point, but looking forward to the postman arriving is about as exciting as it gets at the moment!1 point

Pistol Mags and Holster Problem....
DRay reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
i'd probably advocate for a hip/belt mounted hard shell or WAS type holster. although tbh if you're used to/like chest mount then go for it. fabric holsters as have been mentioned have a nasty habit of dropping mags for kicks, the 226 for sure is susceptible because the first time i ever ran a pistol i ended up spending about an hour hunting for my 1 226 mag on the field. drop leg can work, but you want to try and mount it as high as possible, i've heard it described as "you'll be needing to either remove the top strap from the holster or give up on having kids this lifetime", but it will still feel a bit clunkier for running full tilt. my personal preference is left shoulder mounted, but you can't really do that with something as big as a 226. if you have a proper good holster you can get away without a lanyard, but it's up to you if you wanna still risk it. havent ran a lanyard in years and not lost a pistol yet.1 point -
A true British legend - the world will be a lot worse off. When I mentioned this to my Misses she told me that Tom was getting slated/trolled on social media for taking that holiday last year which was gifted to his whole family by BA............. some of these snowflakes would have never survived the ‘40’s God Bless Sir Tom (Cpt. ret) you can now stand at ease sir !1 point

The whole “that’s gay as f**k !” Thing happens quite often with squaddies until they actually spend a day on a game site , I’d say a good 90% will say they’ll be back AND they’ll fetch there mates along at the end of the day . think the thing for near all of them is only experience they’ve had of an airsoft gun is a £5 springer from the market or when they go on leave to Malia or Falaraki etc and there idea of an airsofter is the giant fat guy in the woodland gear meme ! So the first time they see a ‘real’ airsoft gun in action it certainly opens there eyes for them . Yup I absolutely detest the the way the phrase has been denigrated by the Americans and there over use to describe ANY one who put on a uniform . To me a veteran is the old boy you see down the Legion on Remembrance Sunday with a chest full of medals he really did get awarded , who tells you stories of his time in the war , he’s also the one who it was never him being the hero it was always someone else , he’s the one who makes out he did nothing to be thanked for it was always his mates who didn’t make it home that were the heroes 😢 where as on the other side of the pond you get to call your self a ‘veteran’ even if you only did 6mths in the national guard and never even left your home state FFS ! 🤬1 point

Honestly, not legally. You can do what ever you want to your RIF. Spray it black, tan, MC or stencil the Mona Lisa on it. It's yours. Unless you do it in front of a cop or video it and throw it on youtube. No one is going to know or care. There is no database on two tones, there isn't even a database for RIF's. So do what you want with it, just don't be a cunt with it making airsoft look bad and1 point

Noob Gas Problems
DRay reacted to Dogsbody100 for a topic
Dude, as above if that’s you in the vid be very careful here, whereas you may know it’s an airsoft gun someone else watching (could be anyone) probably don’t and it could cause you issues. Forgive the pun but you don’t wanna be giving the law the ammunition to shoot you with!1 point -
Looking at the video it's some make of gbbr M4. OP is shooting out an open window from what looks like an upper floor. By the way Unless you don't have any neighbors really don't do that. With out knowing manufacturer can't really give a diagnosis, but unless it's a Tokyo Marui the most likely answer it's too cold and the gas is too weak.1 point

Remington 1875 Frontier Army Remingtons failed (but by many accounts better) attempt to cash in on the colt single action army. Started life as a 177 airgun. A few bits machined and it's now an airsoft gun with a fixed hop. I *think* it's the only airsoft one so far. Ideally I'd like to change the colour and hydrodip the grips wood or paint them more like bone. But this is now my primary airsoft "weapon".1 point -

Tried out the red one today and their spring set. You can adjust the valve position a little bit by rotating the gold part, there are three positions to chose from they alter how far back the valve itself rests in its neutral position. My result with ultair greengas was 120,8-121 m/s using 0.4 bbs (2,93J). Aiming for 2.51 so this wont work for me, gonna try adjusting the valve to see how much difference it makes. Edited update. Here is the m/s I got from the three different positions (0.4bbs) Front - 121 m/s Middle - 104 m/s Back - 86 m/s Also added an image of the valve explaining what i'm talking about for those who don't understand.1 point
