I have been skirmishing for five years and one thing I could never understand, is how people managed just using mid-caps. I had always gone in the opposite direction and still have drum mags for my M4's, Evo's and even Glock/AAP. Playing almost with the attitude that just keeping the opponents heads down was a victory, even if I had to light-up the wall they were behind or bush beside them. However last weekend I changed up my "rig" to include pouches for MP5/EVO mid-caps. Bearing in mind Evo mid-caps are 75 rounds, I was especially surprised that even after a heavy "defend the village" game, I had only just started on my second mag. I also discovered that I found it satisfying when the gun stopped firing on empty and I had to use the bolt release after inserting a new one. So I think I'll stick with them going forward and just pick my shots more carefully. What have you changed/learned recently?

Top tip from the weekend playing CQB at Gloucester prison - take a pistol sized speedloader full of BBs out with you and you have effectively doubled the number of mags you have for only a few grams extra! Easy to top up the mags on the walk to the respawn TBH one in the gun and two spare on the chest rig would have been plenty. It is amazing how far 35rds can go when you make each one count. I keep hearing about extra maintenance that GBBRs take. I timed my post game clean up (ignoring cleaning the barrel as AEGs need that too) and it was about 7mins. Much less faff than storage charging LiPos then recharging before the game!

Turn out that I just learned that somehow in 2021 folks are still using, and more worryingly recommending, 3 point slings. Get a 2 point with a quick adjustment tab (Slingster, Trex Arms, Vickers to name a few… I imagine there are clones too if you care to run that gauntlet) and enjoy the aforementioned benefits without any of the draw backs that come with a 3 point. I can think of only one time that it might be worth considering a 3 point and that if you’re hellbent on wanting an MP5 that’s correct to certain time periods. In this instance they’re still overly complicated piles of tangle wank, but at least ‘the look’ is right I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️.

All in all, I've probably had more 'negative' experiences with none HPA users since coming back then HPA users. You're very much correct, its about the person on the other end. Was just stating I hadn't met the stereotypical HPA user before.

Ahh, another cyclic topic by way of a change. It's nothing to do with the fact it's HPA, an AEG is entirely capable of that sort of overkill. The person using it is the problem, not the tool (though the person using it is evidently a tool, so that's fun). You're just leaning into a self fulfilling prophecy by assuming they're a wanker because they're using HPA, when infact, they're just a wanker. In terms of answering the question: That A2 carry handle receivers are a pain to find That TekLoks (or TekLok equivalents) are amazing in comparison to MOLLE if you switch your belt around a decent amount That ditching any sort of 'theme' to your kit and running what works for you (in my case currently jeans, t-shirt, softshell if I need it and whatever load bearing kit works for what I'm using) gives you so much freedom, which likely sounds really obvious but 🤷‍♂️

It's such a subjective question that any answer is largely moot, seems like you're ultimately trying to get folks to justify whatever decision you're leaning toward... which given the thread you've asked in is likely going to have a fairly biased leaning. So, trying to be objective. Things you'll loose: Mag capacity Being able to use fancy speedloaders without adapters (which often don't work) Being able to treat your mags like crap Having mags which are less than half a kilogram each A larger degree of control over shot to shot consistency in terms of FPS/Joules (depends how well maintained your NGRS is) Not having to worry about weather (that's not to say I've ever found weather to be an issue, but I've definitely had some cold mornings where the drive is spent praying the MWS will run right) Buying some decent batteries and that being a one off cost (assuming you look after them) Easy to source parts, both stock and aftermarket, in the UK Things you'll gain: More 'immersion' Being able to use more RS parts (with some needing modification to varying extents) Very expensive mags Heavy mags (I tend to advise moving to RS pouches/load bearing when moving to GBBRs due the mag weight... may not be necessary, but I certainly don't want a kit failure knackering a £50 mag) The ongoing cost of whatever you choose to power it with Having to order many of the parts you want, both stock and aftermarket, from abroad I'm sure there are more that hairs could be split over, but they feel like the big ones, it's largely 'mag centric' for me. You'll kinda have to pick your poison from there. FWIW I have both, and wouldn't want to be without either. Sometimes I just want a day of light 120 round mags, wang a battery in when I arrive on site and have at it. Sometimes I want to torture myself with 35 round mags and make up for it with a dose of GBBR ASMR. Sometimes I'll do one in the morning and swap over for the afternoon, so from my experience I'd hold onto the NGRS and just do a good ol' fashioned 'save up' for the MWS. But as I said at the top of the post... my opinion is entirely moot because I'm not you.

Very true. I like to run as support gunner. I use a 7.4V lipo and chug through BBs. The gearbox etc is well up to higher speeds/voltages; but I don't see the need to send a solid plastic hose at the other team. Two or three round bursts that hit solid cover with a loud smack are usually better at keeping peoples heads down than spraying a solid wall at where their faces may appear. Even if suppressing, you can keep things sensible, sporting and friendly. TBH I usually run my rifleman rifles with the 'fet set to single or double tap and spam the trigger a couple of times if a burst is needed. Kinder to the gearbox than semi and all you need 95% of the time.

If I was to sum up my feelings on 3 point slings in one image: And just to be clear I only raised my own opinion because it was given as a recommendation when the person making the recommendation hasn’t actually got experience with the thing they’re recommending i.e. combining a 3 point sling and an EVO. I wouldn’t usually be so pernickety but as others have highlighted they’re better on some RIFs than others because of how they get in the way of controls… especially on a RIF with a ‘bolt release’ of sorts. There are literally forum rules regarding giving advice in this regard (yes, I’m aware I’m the only person that actually reads them).

An F2000 is bad enough as it is, combined with a 3 point sling that’s a borderline war crime.

TTI triggers delivered and installed. Big difference over the stock ones even if I haven't adjusted the preload yet. DMR is a little mushy but I blame it on the gun having just a couple of mags under its belt, I reckon it'll get crispier with time

hpa tapping a gbbr isn't going to make it quieter thanks to all that action noise, unless we're confusing terms. a solenoid engine with a nice foam can on it though, that can be very quiet and ideal for a dmr, at least if you don't mind the paraphernalia that goes with it.

I think I'll also echo this, but also as a recent HPA convert. I stopped playing about 6 - 7 years ago after I left university, but got back into the hobby 2 years ago. HPA wasn't really a thing back in the early 2010s, but now it's everywhere. However, I have also learned to love it myself. I converted my VSR to HPA and never looked back. The effortless bolt pull, the silence of having no moving parts in the firing mechanism and the silly levels of consistency are all priceless and I just don't find myself using my spring VSR ever. I don't think I'll ever fit the bill of a stereotypical HPA full auto idiot (they exist in the AEG variety too!) though, since it's hard to get silly ROF out of a boltie I'll also add another thing I learned recently: I don't like milsim. Gave it a shot two weeks ago and had fun, but I don't think I'd repeat the experience. It's total pay-to-win at night time, because the guy who spends thousands of £s on NVGs will just win against the guy who can't afford to do the same. Yes, people will say "but you can see the illuminator" and that's how I did hit someone while being otherwise blind, or "pop smoke to screw with it", but seeing a red dot in the darkness is very different to seeing everything plainly and smoke doesn't solve the issue as then nobody can see anyone and firing blindly can be dangerous. Also, I don't really like the whole idea of being told exactly what to do. I'd much rather be given an objective of "we need intel on X, and if you see Y they are a target of opportunity" then be left to my own devices on how to accomplish it, rather than being given strict orders on "we need you to go and do A". Also, I didn't really get an opportunity to use my boltie at all (which made me sad ), as most squad-based tasks were ill-suited to it, so I basically played the whole event with my secondary (stock cyma mp5k) and sidearm (upgraded TM mk23). And the most recent thing: I've learned that carrying a small, lightweight AEG at the same time as the VSR is a game changer. I may go back to just the VSR and mk23 for some games, as I just like pistols and like excuses to use mine, but carrying a small mp5k alongside the VSR has been super easy and super useful; having full auto for tight situations and allowing me to push aggressively when my team is inevitably all hiding behind a barricade, shooting at enemies far out of their range as airsofters are wont to do has been really nice. The mp5k + spare mags are really lightweight and I just unclip it from the sling and put it to one side when I get into a position where I'm lying prone with the VSR. You learn something new every day

You can get a cheap printer disks in to a really fine degree with some work. This is printed in abs on a modified ender 3

there isn't much difference in quality between cheap and expensive printers after you have dialed them in. Out the box the more expensive printers generally work better but a £200 printer can be tweaked to print just as well or better. There are 2 main types of 3D printers for the average joe. FDM and Resin being those 2 main types. FDM is a bit like squeezing toothpaste out a tube in 1 continuous line to make a 3D object where resin is very fine slices of resin stuck to the bottom of the last very fine line of resin. The main differences between the 2 is that resin has a much higher resolution so you don't generally see any print lines and it looks like it was moulded straight out the printer. FDM usually has print lines and you can print in finer detail so that these lines are less visible but that takes time so you have a choice to make between print quality and time to print. FDM printers can have bigger build plates up to 500mmx500mmx500mm generally but resin printers only manage about 192(L)mmx120(W)mmx240(H)mm for affordable models. both types can print in multiple materials so you have flexibility in making stuff. for instance you can print a rubber like butt pad in FDM or resin which will look and feel like rubber or you could print a silencer in ABS on a FDM printer if you are looking for strength. there is 2 other sides to 3D printing worth mentioning. If you don't learn a 3D design program you are stuck with printing other peoples models. Most programs are scary to look at when you first use them but a couple of youtube videos later it all makes sense. The other side is moulding from 3D printing. it's possible to design, print then cast in metal/2 part epoxy/gold/space dust a part. this is taking the 3D printing hobby a bit further but having a printer opens up that door. want a particular flash hider that doesn't exist or stupidly expensive? design it, print the prototype for testing then jam it in some plaster of paris and melt some old coke cans and pour.

Exactly the same situation with me , using a TM KSG at an outdoor/indoor site and it was a crappy overcast start to the day chrono’ed absolutely fine , late morning sun comes out and turns in to a right scorcher . I hit one of the marshals in error he says “that stung a bit ! think we need to re-chrono that ?” and it was well over site limits . Luckily for me it wasn’t long after they came out so it had a lot of attention at chrono and the marshal had actually had a go of it and shot his mate in the arse so was fully a where of its capabilities . AND I’d been playing a good few yrs by then so even ‘experienced’ players can fall foul of the variants of the hobbie . 👍

Agree with comments on mandatory chrono. Agreed with semi only rule and no blindfiring or prefiring. Experience from games at the Mall and Urban Assault show these to be very sensible rules for CQB. I would also copy the Malls rule about heavy metal reusable bangs. Another rule I liked was the usage of numbered armbands for ID purposes. Someone being a dick? Take their number, report it. Armbands being swapped from one arm to the other to signify being medic'd was another rule I always liked, can't remember what site it was from though.

They're extremely well made and the BB gauge is a fantastic feature but in my experience, even when using a sidewinder style loader they're a bitch to fill much past the halfway mark.

oh and as a follow up to my initial review I thought I'd mention that I've used it quite a bit since the review and it's still working flawlessly. I'm running it on a 11.1V most of the time and sticking to binary/3 round burst and had zero issues. I used it this weekend and the phrase someone shouted at me kinda sums this little AEG up. "I don't know what you are firing at me but it just scared the shit out of me!"

im willing to bet it will be a mix of both, but biased towards the latter option good luck all the same though

for BB brands, i use Valkyrie BBs, would be worth dropping them a line to see if they would be able to supply you in bulk. also, should be a hard no on ANY prefiring.. if they cant see what they are shooting, then hold fire. definately chrono all guns, even pistols for CQB, may also want to look into colored cable ties (tiny ones) or similar to tag guns, and alternate colours randomly so that its immediately obvious if someone hasnt chronoed their weapon on that particular game day (from what i have seen at sites, this would be a marmite issue, some players will love the idea, while others will loathe the idea, but at the end of the day its something that will keep everyone safe) random spot checks are a good safety measure too, and anyone found using a hot gun should be dealt with appropriately. but depending on the site itself, beware that great changes in temperature could cause gas guns to creep over the limits even if there are no alterations made, so in cases like that a player should be allowed to rechrono using a weaker gas, and if still over then use a different gun, a spare rental, or play without (if its a secondary) as some newer players might get caught unawares case in point was my EMG john wick hi-capa.. went to an (outdoors) site, and during the morning games i filled it with red gas, then as the day went on the temperature rose, so i was spot checked in the afternoon and the gun was shooting hot. due to inexperience, i didnt realise the temperature had had such a drastic effect on its performance. luckilly i hadnt used it in the afternoon games, and was close to safezone, the marshal had a small can of green gas on him, so he allowed me to re-gas with green and rechrono, and the gun was within the limits. after regassing all three mags i had on me, i was allowed to return to play, and at the same time i was educated very effectively about how temperature affects gas guns. i grant you, that this effect may not be as prevalent at CQB sites, but worth keeping in mind. of course, blatant cheats who chrono on green, but then regass with black gas, or players who get caught multiple times for the same offence should be sent home as its clear they are doing it on purpose

you can it. just means you come down hard on anyone breaking the ban or just bar anyone from using outside BBs (your regs will most likely be buying BBs from you anyway)

Haha yea, it'll be quite a while before I get to the purchasing stage so hopefully it'll all be sorted by then but if not I'll just get a smorgasbord of rentals and spin the variety as a feature. Any particular brands that you do rate, Elite Force seem popular? But will need to find a wholesale provider really. Vigilant, confident, fair, and consistent marshals will be a priority yea. And they are employees doing a job, if they're not good at it then yea they should be let go ( presuming they had all the required training beforehand that is ) Rules I'm thinking so far are semi only, hard limit on fps, no blindfiring, no prefiring ( unless it's just a legitimate tactic to stop someone popping their head around a door before you make a move ), chrono everything at the beginning with no excuses, random spot checks throughout the day ( particularly on known trouble gun models ) Will need to have marshals focus primarily on safety and from that hopefully a non-toxic and welcoming environment will able to be fostered and then yea from that if people are enjoying themselves and feel safe / listened to then hopefully that will remove a lot of the trouble. Noted, avoiding that brand then. Although I guess can't really police brands that players use but at least I can limit what I'm handing out to rentals.

Its called a reverse stretch and basically needs an MP5K Forend Grafting onto a full size A3 rear. It looks straight forward but is infact a major job, it's been on my project list for about 20 years now.

Unrelated to TG, but very much related to UPS. I ordered some bits not RIF related from Italy, turns out UPS are the courier. Dispatched on the 1st of June, arrived at Stanford-No-Hope on the 4th and outside of the sporadic import scans nothing has happened. So it would appear that the main issue, of which there have been many suggestions/hypothesis is entirely unrelated to the fact the parcels contain RIFs. Apologies if this only serves to make folks feel worse, but it's seemingly nothing to do with the fact it's airsoft stuff. UPS are just continuing to be worse than usual in general... and the bar was already pretty low.

Yup. I've had a visit from the old bill after buying a holster and a TLR1 torch from the states. Was kind of pathetic to be honest, they pitched up about 4 weeks after it'd been delivered. Knocked on the door asked if I had ordered the items and why, then just kinda wandered off.

Mmm, airsofters are already delusional enough about the performance of our assault-toys without adding tangerine trees and marmalade skies into the mix.

Boneyard pulse rifle stripped , fixed and now weathered . I think it may need more “distressing” . And I need a couple more short mags .

After doing crush tests, I can attest that heavier BB crumbs taste considerably different to .2 crumbs. Not sure it adds any value to the discussion but thought it was worth noting
