I played my first Airsoft game in November and was very quickly hooked. I originally wanted an SA80 rep but I was not overly happy with the fit and feel. I ended up with an Ares Keltec RDB as the balance, weight and fit into the shoulder felt excellent and very natural. Since purchase I have made a few mods to it. Piccatinny rails to the foregrip. Dremelled out the inside of the foregrip to accept a bigger battery. Fabricated and fitted a rear sling fixing so I could use an SA80 sling SHS High Torque Motor Maxx Pistonhead (waiting for delivery of a Max cylinder & cylinder head Maxx nozzle ZCI 6.02 barrel (taped to remove movement inside the outer barrel) and Purple Prom bucking SHS M100 spring So far I am very happy with it, all working well and quite accurate with good range. Although I will always be chasing more accuracy and range. I am not fussed about RPS as our main site is single shot only. Next up is a Krytac SPR that I have most of the internal upgrades ready to install, just waiting for a couple of parts that should arrive soon so I can begin work.2 points

Reenactors are an essential source, but don't forget books. Memoires and autobiographies record how people actually wore uniforms. There were, for example, fashions for removing the shaping wire in peaked hats in some branches, and some (almost always officers) tested the limits of khaki. The lighter the shade of shirt the more fashionable.2 points -
Road to Ruin Festival

I reckon there's enough crossover for you lot to be interested in the festival I help organise. Road to Ruin was the UK's first, and still the largest, Post Apocalyptic themed event, and we're back this July A music festival based around Post Apocalyptic themed vehicles. We have the UK's largest (And possibly in the world) Post Apocalyptic themed legal road run. We are now in our 4th year (Technically 6th, but Covid cancelled the last two festivals). Site Name: Skirmish Wycombe Contact details: 01494 578077 Website Address: https://skirmishwycombeairsoft.com Facebook Page: Skirmish Wycombe Airsoft | Facebook Site Address: Fryers Farm Lane, High Wycombe HP14 3NP The last true long standing site close to London that I had never been to. @Albiscuit and I were going to go to Red 1 Oblivion, which fell through so decided to dust off the old reviews and give Skirmish Wycombe a visit. We attended on 30/01/2022. Skirmish Wycombe are usually fully booked and run every week switching between Saturdays and Sundays. It's a paintball site which is also used for Airsoft. It's a fairly long running site. Small Woodland site which has nice variation with regards to elevation with a valley running through a third of the site and elevated precipice above it. Short/Medium/Long range engagement distances. Foliage is both low and high but hardly any at head height so there is enough visibility for bolt action users and not so great for the taller person. There are plenty of earthworks and man made structures (None of which are particularly complex and only one small elevated building.) Good: Playing Area: It is quite a small site but it's nice and varied, despite being a paintball site first, the zones are opened up nicely and run into each-other for Airsoft ranges. As explained before there are lots of manmade buildings and earthworks, though maybe something a bit more elaborate could make this a truly excellent. Turn around time: Pretty short, you certainly get your moneys worth, they get lots of games in. Safe Zone: Small area, though it looks like it could be expanding soon, everything is covered and was big enough for the small crowd that attended. Park bench style seating and tables. Digital signage for the food stall, Battery charging available. It was good overall, but it did feel a little "tired", could do with some sprucing up. Safety Brief: Short and sweet. Covered most things. Food: Pulled pork with BBQ sauce and for us non pork/veggies, freshly cut Mediterranean vegetables with Mac and Cheese. It was stonkingly good food for an airsoft site, and is included with the Β£30 entry fee. Seems to be cooked on site. The tuck shop had digital boards with the prices on, they do freshly made milkshakes (Shakeway style made with different sweets etc) Had what appeared to be syrup style fizzy drink dispensers. So for Food and Drink, this site is first class. All the more impressive that it's in-house. No food trucks here. Shop: Really good shop! A large and wide selection of RIFs and pistols. They had an LCT Val, WE Makarov, G&G GK5C, F2000's. Really interesting selection. Prices are high like at most on-site shops. But not many places have this breadth of selection. Game Modes: Mostly simple, but effective, usual domination/zombie/4 way round robin games. Have a nice looking bomb setup. Average: Value: Β£30 is quite a lot to ask for when the site is pretty small, but the food and turn around time does make up for it. Clientele: Very young, lots of rentals and new people to the sport with very few older gents. They were friendly enough, but behaviour in the field was very suspect. Toilets: In an elevated shack in the car park, not an ideal position. It has real porcelain which is usually a good rating by default, but they were a little dirty and stank quite badly! I think the waste is stored underneath and removed periodically. Car Park/Entrance: Small mud car park, sign posted at the entrance but you need to follow signs for Fryers Farm thereafter and not mistakenly come off the other junctions within. Car Park is nearly right at the end of the main track after you see a gate that says "Staff only". It hadn't rained much recently, but I can imagine it getting slippery up to the nearby elevated safe zone. Chrono: Mandatory and everything was tagged. Usual 350 FPS for AEGs, shotguns and pistols. 450 for DMR and 500 for BASR. Would get a "Good" but Al overheard a marshal ask another marshal "This guys rifle is shooting over 350 on one chrono and 320 on another, what should I do?" "Go by the reading that lets them play". They also required me to chrono by .2's so they do not account for joule creep on heavier ammo. Bad: Hit taking: This was the massive bugbear of the day. In the morning there were some poor hit takers, mostly from frustrated players who couldn't break through enemy lines. We really enjoyed the mornings games despite this and were glad to carry on without grumbling. I made a prophetic comment at lunch (As long as the hit taking doesn't get any worse, I would consider this site fantastic, we'll see what happens!) The Afternoon was a complete shitshow for all three games. Two almost whole site games fighting over a single objective, there were about 4-5 grey hooded rentals, none of which would take their hits, you could see bb's pinging off them, they held important buildings which overlooked the main objective and wouldn't budge. I went up to one at the end of a game and said how well they held up and if they died at all? "Nah mate". It was almost comical how it was the grey hooded players that didn't take hits. It was a classic stereotype. On my own side there were other hooded rentals who would get shot, take the hit and instead of walking back to spawn 3 minutes away, would go behind a hedge and spawn straight back in. I had to exclaim to many rentals on my side that dead men don't talk as they kept trying to relay information to me about enemy whereabouts after they had been shot or asking me where I was shot from when I was walking back to spawn. Marshalling: I was tempted to put this in "Average", there are a number of marshal's, but only one appeared to have any experience or clout, and was looked to for advice by the others on a consistent basis. Considering how many people were complaining about how bad the hit taking was, I didn't see anyone get spoken to, no test shooting and no shadowing of suspect people. CEASEFIRE: In the afternoon games ceasefire was called no less then 6 times in two half hour games. Unsure as to why, some people say it was because people were walking on a footpath nearby. This needs to be sorted with maybe a proper fence etc as it killed the flow of the game (And many people would sneakily move up and into better positions from where they were when the ceasefire was called). Conclusion: A really difficult one, we really like the site and we will come back to see what happens playing against different people. The morning was excellent and was great gameplay but the inaction over hit taking really killed the Afternoon for us to the point that we left slightly early deflated. It goes to say, there were roughly just as many rentals as there were experienced players. We liked the informal atmosphere and the on-site facilities were great. They limit numbers as the site is rather small and the numbers were about right. I'd like to come back and see what it looks like with summer foliage. The Marshalling team need to be far more pro-active/confident in dealing and directing players, maybe some more experience would be a good idea. Bullpup Watch: T97, an Aug of some description. thank you everyone for all your comments, and sorry i havent replied sooner. yeah, i spoke to someone else about this subject and they agree, with collar badges in ww1 being mainly worn by officers yeah, i figured that was the case, but im going to have to carry both simply due to the fact the lee enfield isnt suitable for more cqb areas at the sites i play at.. plus if and when i upgrade it, it will be over the FPS and joule limits, so i will need a sidearm. probably going to go with a later war uniform, probably 1917 ok, so probably not going to be applicable to the uniform im putting together sounds about right for the army XD will give them a look, though i do personally hate having to use facebook. and good call re: the stitch counters i did browse amazon and found some "men at arms" books from Osprey, should have them this week and will see if they shine anymore light on the subject i havent looked at aliexpress, but i have heard some horror stories relating to them, so im a bit dubious about using them1 point -
Gate Merf 3.2 not working correctly? F2000 semi-auto trigger not working
RostokMcSpoons reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
personally, i'd go with the 2-wire setup. iirc they give you plenty of wire with the 2 sets of connectors, enough to trim a length off to bridge the semi and auto connectors (if not, lemme know, mans probably has some lying around somewhere) then run the heavy gauge direct from the mosfet to the motor (only place it's needed), basically the 2 motor spades going into the same deans plug which then goes to the mosfet.1 point -

it's possible @Iceni's theory about the wiring being off is maybe happening. normally with the gate mosfets i find it much easier to use the 2-wire setup (as in @Iceni's drawing) than try and muddle through the single wire setup, although bearing in mind the pic is the g&g v6 box rather than the cyma v3, but the same general idea just the contacts are in different locations.1 point -

Your wires should look like this. Cut on the white crosses. I think what you've done is use the signal wire to carry full current, hence it shutdown. The diagram above with the double signal wire directly to what is now an isolated contacts circuit. The motor directly to the Deans, as an isolated motor circuit. If it's still working on the program button then you should still be good. There was no need to move any wires at all. Damn I wish you would of just asked for a diagram before you started.1 point -

From the bit of it you can see, it looks to be one of the various jpc style clone cheapo airsoft rigs. That'll get you started on google at least, I doubt your looking for crye level, but Warrior assault systems stuff is decent enough for the price, or tmc repro stuff on aliexpress is good, don't bother with ebay, unless your looking for real steel secondhand kit, the ebay sellers only ship it from the same factories anyway for a healthy premium most of the time, just be prepared for some kit to be disappointing at those prices, either that or youll think its the best thing ever until you try the more expensive brands of kit ala crye, c2r, ferro1 point

Overspin / double-firing on semi with 11.1v
Rogerborg reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
Quick update: Rate of fire up to 19rps. Obeying the '20 is plenty' rule, at least for the moment! Bad news: gun stopped pew-pewing again. It went for longer before stopping, but stop it did. No warning lights on the Merf, start-up lights showed it was still happy. Battery swap (to 7.4v) didn't fix it. The 11.1v battery is down to 10% (~3.60v per cell) so I'm re-charging it now, in case the Merf is very conservative with its battery protection. The odd thing is if I do the trick of connecting the programming trigger to the Merf, it'll fire quite happily. Maybe my signal wire is shorting after some vibration...?1 point -

Cheers for the input guys. The JG 74 is due to arrive tomorrow. I didn't pay a lot for it and got plenty of mags to make it skirmishable. The plan is to strip the gun down and then strip the paint off entirely, down to the bare metal. I'll then build it back up using my old wargames miniatures skills. I've even researched how to distress wood properly, so I'm hoping the furniture is at least workable. I've bagged a dirt cheap damaged Nikko Stirling scope which I'm hoping I can fashion into something like the Eye of Reach in Sea of Thieves. It's a purely cosmetic item but despite the planned paint job, the airsofter in me couldn't leave the gun as stock... π That's very authentic. π I'll use these for reference on the paint job. I've fitted my Merf! Good news: full auto's like a beast, noticeable increase of RoF in my F2000 with the SHS hi-torque motor + 1200mAH 11.1v Turnigy Nano Cell 15-25C. Really snappy response in semi too. Bad news: it stopped firing after a few bursts. Connected a couple of 7.4v batteries and nothing doing there either. Tried them in the DE, worked. Gutted. But then I realised I hadn't set the battery type in the setup menu. Connected the programming trigger, changed to 11.1v LiPo in the settings, *bingo* back to shooting again. I've not really 'gone for it' since then, I'm setting it aside for the evening: I'd rather go to sleep with a working rifle than stay awake with a broken one I'll give it a workout tomorrow to see what's what. I'll chrono and get a RoF for it, if it's running well. Hopefully those 30C batteries will turn up soon, they'll be interesting1 point -

Thatβs a tale that gets told, but is inter regiment rivalry - often attributed to the Engineers due to the close associations between engineers and gunners, and there are a number of slight difference between RE & RA that get attributed to a mark of shame, but are just inter regiment banter Colenso is often chosen as the shameful event but is a battle honor for the RA, and they took half of the VCs of the battle - you donβt get awarded both a VC and a mark of shame https://www.7fd-regt-raa-association.com/Documents/A Lanyard Coloured White.DOC1 point

The lanyard was originally used for firing an artillery gun (canon), and is worn more for tradition than an actual purpose. Although keeping a church key (bottle opener) at the end in the pocket was a practical use. Regiments and Corps wear different coloured lanyards, so can be an aid to indentification . I believe that a white lanyard is only worn by the Royal Artillery (RA), and is a mark of disgrace for abandoning their guns during a battle. I cannot remember when this incident was supposed to have happened.1 point -
I'm no expert, but believe that the wearing of collar dogs by ORs on service dress was more a between the wars thing. You'll want to look at getting metal shoulder titles instead. As to the revolver and holster, they were used on a limited basis by other ranks (job dependent), but were usually carried instead of a rifle.1 point

Good morning, just a quick report on my last session on sunday... This was the first time taking my own RIF to a game after receiving my UKARA. As some may be aware I went and dumped a wad on a TM M4 GBBR with 6! Yes 6 extra mags and a whole host of goodies to accompany. Well let me just say... the day went absolutely fantastic!! The gun was faultless all day bringing a huge smile to my face and attracting many comments along the lines of 'ooo is that a gas blowback' and 'wow that thing sounds naughty'. π It was such a big difference from the rental AEGs and am so happy I went the gas route. The session was packed with over 30 players in an indoor arena with a good variety of objective based gameplay. And a didn't even use all my mags in any of the games which is a bonus. Any way that is all. Just wanted to share how much I enjoyed my new purchase and am glad I stayed away from the odd recommendation of not choosing gas as my first.. once you go gas there's no looking back ππ1 point -
