Moderator comment The forum consensus is that you post pictures of your actual kit, not use shop/stock/library images in this topic. No photo, it did not happen6 points -
I understand both sides of the argument but I’m still in the ‘old’ FPS camp you can argue up and down as much as you like about which is more accurate but when you get down to it as far as I’m concerned apart from the new players with their snot green what ever from BBGUNZ’S IS BESTEST.COM who’s only knowledge of ‘joules’ Is some chavette called Julie he tried to finger in the bus stop after school then the morning pre-game chrono check is a pointless exercise used simply to test the integrity of the players attending that site , there’s a 100 and 1 ways to cheat the site limits if you feel you need to , it’s just a test for you to ask your self “are you going to be an honest player ? Or are you going to be a c*nt ?” For me it’s simple as that really .5 points

No, all I've done is take pictures of the serial numbers on my belt-full of BFGs. Even at that, I think it's vastly unlikely that I'd be lucky enough to catch a pikey who's pocketed one, given that sites seem to - at most - just shrug and say "Oh dear, we'll make an announcement at the next briefing". I've yet to see or hear of one locking the place down and frisking folk, which is what it would take. And from a liability and duty of care point of view, they're smarter to not get involved. I guess this gets back to my Default Rant #3, that airsoft is a delicious punch bowl spoiled by a very few turds bobbing around in it. If sites were a bit more proactive about punting wrong-uns right out of the hobby, it would be better for us and for them.3 points -
I must say I've never had a prob leaving my gear in safe zone and even gear I've lost on game field comes back to me. I do mark my mags with yellow dyno tape with 'team diamond dogs' on the bottom though. I like to think that we are all aware of what kit costs and how we would feel if it happened to us and that,I think, generates a hands off attitude? I would rather give someone a spare mag than take theirs.👍 Regards3 points

Joules or FPS?
shadowfacex and one other reacted to AlphaBear for a topic
I get both sides of the argument here and I understand why some sites just use fps and ask the player what BB weight they are using. One of my sites does this and then they just compare the fps speed with the bb weight. If you have 100 players checking in then the last thing you want is the chrono time to take forever. Our sport relies on honesty but let's face it you will get those players who will inevitably tell porkies coz they consider themselves entitled. At least I know I'm being honest and that's what matters.2 points -
Metal gets engraved with some variation of my pseudonym and last three numbers , plastics get sharpie’ed with the same plus all my mags are numbered so if I have feeding problems or anything else I can easily identify the mag later on , so I also have that as well . Marking your kit will stop the ‘casual scumbag’ from stealing your shit but nothings going to stop the full blown cuntifer from stealing your hard earned when they set their eye on it .2 points

Would be impossible to pick a single moment but best days would be easier. The forum games where some of us went for a meal like the one where @Jedi_Master ended up wearing a milkshake and we all got to put faces to names and then shoot each other. The last few games at the Mall, all sad but some great camaraderie especially the last day.2 points -

nope, any gear i have is either in the car or on my person. sure if you drop mags left right and centre like your an extra in john wick and throw bfg's round every corner you're gonna lost/have pinched gear eventually. recall once stumbling across a gbb vector mag in a building once, picked it up cos i figured it was the only way to be sure some thieving bugger didn't. you've never seen such a look of relief as its owner when he found me after the game.1 point -
When I was younger and using pellet guns and air rifles,it was measured by how many pages of a telephone ☎️ directory or littlewoods catalogue you could get through lol. I remember mam wasn't best pleased when the last two numbers of a dressmaker she wanted to call had a .22 hole through them! Lol Regards1 point

Best online Airsoft Shop
Cannonfodder reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
Yowch. Opinions vary, wildly. They sell a lot of blue-and-orange tat, some of it with plastic gearboxes good only for backyard plinking. However, they also sell some of the exact same RIFs as you'll get anywhere else, and they can sometimes be cheaper. I've bought from them a couple of times, but I knew exactly what I wanted, and why, and had done the sums on it. They used to do a secret discount if you left something in your basket for 24 hours, but I didn't get offered that the last time I tried it - so went elsewhere. Their videos review by Sweaty Moobs Dom are hilarious, but not informative: they always lie about energy levels, and frequently show fps number using 0.12g BBs. There's also some risk of being sent a returned gun being resold as "new". They turn over a huge amount of stock, a lot of it flogged to nose-pickers, or drunken regret purchases. Approach with considerable caution, and don't buy anything from them that you can't also find listed at a more serious site like PatrolBase.1 point -
What a stupid, pointless idea. Of course, I love it. Airtac UK has been working on a shotgun tracer, so it's not that outré. https://www.airtac.me/product-page/shotgun-tracer Caveat, when I've done hop-up tracer units, they've always been rather disappointing, even when I've bought the most lumeny "UV" LEDs that eBay can provide (for pennies each). I'm not sure what you'd have to do to ensure that you get ones that are really UV and bright enough to charge up BBs in a fraction of a second.1 point
-
I can't figure out the threshold. The chap I saw on Facebook (which I can't find now, because Facebook) was flogging stuff in the tens of pounds, which surprised me. I'm guessing that if you get too many (or any) contested payments or chargebacks then they might put you on the guilty-until-proven-innocent list. Despite my habit of slamming in immediate but honest disputes/chargebacks at the first opportunity when a bad seller messes up, I do have a lot of sympathy with the good ones who get unlucky enough to be screwed over by a rogue buyer. Then again, a seller could send a tracked postcard saying "Whistle for your item" and might win the case. I hanker for the days when a fellow's word was his bond.1 point

I'd recommend looking into stoic philosophy, and focusing on mindfulness meditation - meditation sounds like a scary word if you've never done it, but it comes in many forms - it doesn't just mean sitting there, legs crossed, going hmmmmmm to yourself, you can practice mindful meditation at any point anywhere.1 point

Well, a lot of work later and shes finished. HPA'd STAR L86. R-hopped 550mm IB, Polarstar F2 engine inside a custom designed and 3D printed gearbox, custom wiring and microswitches, modifications done to fit the IGL, and more. Max range about 85m (not accurate range for you haters). Im happy. Still need to sort out the two side pins behind the magwell, look into adding a grip of some sort if needed, and toss a light on it.1 point -

what your think best experience on airsoft?
Cynthia reacted to ImTriggerHappy for a topic
That reminds me of a time at the mall I was creeping round the basement and heard two players plotting how they were going to tell the marshalls I was blindfiring and not taking hits to try and get me kicked because they were sick of me shooting them. It was a happy day 😁1 point -
I haven't been to a site that corners you into buying theirBB's yet, did they stock every weight imaginable? I think i'd begrudge having to buy bottles of varying weights each time I went to a site like that, and i'd definitely be put off going back as well. Was this "rule" mentioned on their website at all?1 point

what your think best experience on airsoft?
Cynthia reacted to PopRocket123 for a topic
Hiding in the undergrowth with a small group I'd teamed up with that day waiting to spring an ambush. It had been raining all day so a lot of people had given up and gone home which meant at such a large site the action was very spread out. It was a fall back game and we were defending. At the start we pushed forward as fast as we could and took up concealed positions close to the path. We waited for them to push past us to the front line then opened fire from the bushes. By the time they respawned and came back for us we had already pushed round, cleared most of the enemy push and rejoined our team. The atmosphere of waiting in the rain watching the enemy pass by in spitting distance reminded me of every Vietnam movie.1 point -

Best memory : Everytime I shot a player who's been on a God mode rampage either on the head, ass or hand. (3rnd burst, just to be sure) I hope this year to make new memories that surpass the above.1 point -
Best memory airsofting so far; Climbing up a tree and taking out most of the red team with a MK23 pistol. No one bothered to look up when they were shot out, which the site owner watched on with amusement! This was six or seven years ago at a site called Ravensnest near Ipswich.1 point

The entire thread is full of things folks have just bought, but they post their pictures of the items once they've arrived rather than screenshots from the website. You are the only person doing it, and it's not the first time it's been mentioned. Take a social cue, wait till whatever 'you've literally just bought' arrives and share some photos of it. No one is here to see stock images from websites fella, ease off and don't be so touchy.1 point -
making people run from my shotgun is fun. wearing masks and popping out unexpectedly and getting a oh shoot and surrender without having to fire. yelps and screams at such really make me grin(not from cheating ) ive a few good memory's especially of grenades failing to get me(a point i may over play to avoid them)and stealthy maneuvering around an area so the enemy dont get a solid fix on me.1 point

If you're not going to do it thoroughly, with an assumption that everybody is trying to avoid or cheat the chrono, then why bother at all? I really mean this. If you assume that everybody is honest, then a chrono is only there so that we can self-check. If you assume that there's even one problem person out there, then finding and catching them requires more than a cursory, easily skipped, and half hearted process. I'd far, far rather that sites did a lot more in-game chronoing with their own 0.3g+ BBs, punted guns back to the safe zone if they're a little over, and players off the site if they're well over. Anything else is just theatre. </rant number two>1 point
-
Joules, every time. It's not the 1990s, and nobody (apart from indoor CQB) is using 0.2g any more. I've heard the argument that fps is easier to understand because it's one big round number, but that's self-delusional reactionary geezerism. Sure, saying "350fps" is simple, but it's not helpful when it's not going to apply to the majority of players, and they need to translate into Joules, then back to fps for their BB weight. Even worse is sites saying "Oh, everybody knows what we mean", when that's demonstrably not the case. I've seen multiple people on Failbook saying "Yeah, I'm shooting .32g at 330, that's fine, right? Under 350, yeah?" Anyone who has a chrono at home can set it to Joules and their BB weight, end of argument. Anyone who doesn't, well, they don't matter to the argument, because what are they going to do with the information? Look at retailer clamed fps? Those are (at best) results for one example, not the one that you'll receive, and when sites start to specify in Joules, and chrono with site 0.3g+ BBs, then retailers will eventually follow along. </rant>1 point

Joules or FPS?
John_W reacted to Stratton Oakmont for a topic
I’m sure rogerborg will have your answer along soon.1 point -
Joules. Hands down, no contest. I'm pretty sure I could chrono my HPA guns on .2s, then watch the joule creep as I use the proper weights I like. I imagine my VSR would probably be closer to 3J if I chronoed to 500fps on .2s and then swapped out to .48s that it needs to perform to its best. I might try this and chrono at some point, just to see what the results would be. At the end of the day, the energy is what impacts and hurts. FPS by itself is meaningless.1 point
