I buy what I think I like. i don’t care what you like. i tinker because I can’t help it. when it performs to the limits of my tinkering capabilities it’s generally the time when I realise whether I really like it or not and it stays or gets sold. I am happy with my 4 remaining rifs i don’t think I want a gbls das but if I do go that way the mws and my sorted socom ngrs would have to be culled to fund the purchase, I don’t think I can let either of them go. ive been through many brands and models to get to this point and these 4 do everything I need for the two sites I go to3 points -

What does single fire mean ?
Rogerborg and one other reacted to Arkslippyjunior for a topic
I'm new to this whole ordeal so apologies if this is obvious but I'm looking online at an mp40 for 30 quid and in the description it says single fire has to be cocked after every shot It's a spring gun aswell I was wondering if this meant that it was a semi auto or would I have to pull the bolt back every time I want to shoot and if this is a waste of money https://www.justbbguns.ie/german-mp40-airsoft-bb-gun/ Here is a link to it if someone can elaborate for me2 points -
The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Rogerborg and one other reacted to GeorgePlaysAirsoft for a topic
Thought I'd chip in: I had my first game since October at the start of June with an evening game at South Coast CQB. I think this might my favourite site and the closest I've got to a "regular". Venue aside (it should really be called South Coast Urban or something) it really has got a nice atmosphere to it, the sportsmanship from the players was 10/10 and small things like free bottled water go a long way. I shot lots of bb's, even hit a few people and had a tough time getting to sleep afterwards such was the buzz. Me and a fellow forumite then visited Apocalypse Airsoft for my first "milsim". First things first: despite being a 50hr+ event it ended after "only" 36 hours as people on the (other!) team got a bit tired/fed up. Our attempt at LARPing as afghan villagers was totally silly and very fun but unfortunately the other team didn't really play ball. And then complained about how it was more of a "skirmish" than a milsim. sometimes you can't win. I try to have the attitude of a good day/ weekend first, a good skirmish/"milsim" second, and it was certainly a good weekend. I managed to rack up 22hrs of straight airsoft and the night time bit was super fun. I put "milsim" in quotes cause I think it can mean everything, but also, at the same time, nothing. But the night time bit really did remind me of my (very, very limited experience of) night time exercises in a good way, even though if I was to write down what went down you might think "that doesn't sound very fun". I suppose you had to be there. I can't help but feel a little bit cheated by the premature ending of the event as I had taken the monday off work to recover. I don't want a refund, but I would like the site to black list the lightweights (sorry!) at least from long events - but that ain't gonna happen! Or maybe just do 24h events as there is no prizes for hosting the longest airsoft event or anything. A month or so later we went up north to Brit Tac's "13 hours" battlesim(??) at Camp Sparta. I think this was the best day of airsoft I had ever had, ever. The numbers on our team were quite low oweing to football drop outs, but I think this was for the best as the 20 or so of us were divided into 3 teams and it all felt quite "tight" with lots of communication and coordinating. I could go on and on about how fun this was. On the downside, I did manage to hurt my ears (lesson learnt about hearing protection) and it took over 2 weeks for them to stop hurting. Edit: I've heard people complain about smoke inside buildings at camp sparta. Personally I thought it was awesome! At one stage i couldn't see my hand in front of me such was the darkness and smog... its a novelty. Finally, I got down to Echelon in Gravesend for their first public game, was umming and ahhin'g about that specific date till i saw there was only one ticket left, so i felt I kinda had to! Very good fun, and i'm very grateful to have some cqb relatively accessible from London - though the turnaround for evening games needs to be much much quicker imo, and just for the sake of expectation management, whilst its very cool playing in a former debenhams, i'm not sure its necessarily a "destination" site in the same way one of the UCAP jails, or The Gaol, or Camp Sparta or SCCQB are. This might sound more negative than I intend, perhaps I've been spoilt a bit with sccqb and camp sparta within a few weeks of each other. I bought some hearing protection with me after last time, and as sods law dictates...there was hardly any bangs. I'm sure people will get more bang happy as they learn the site a bit more though! Next up is my first game with Stirling Airsoft at "the trees" so I'm looking forward to that.2 points -

Oneshotscott reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
That's the bit that really winds me up. You pay £75 to Ofcom for access to a bunch of frequencies, and in return they don't enforce them. Heck, I was tugged by the fuzz in the 1990s while running an unlicensed, over-powered CB set, "with my boots on" in the vernacular of the period. The only thing they cared about was why I was hanging out in a school car park at night - "Because it's got line of sight to all of Glasgow toon". They didn't give a stuff about the legality of the wireless set, and I very much doubt that you could find anyone who would care about running a 2W set now unless you go out of your way to interfere with an emergency services frequency.1 point -

Eh. PMR446 is easier, the Baofengs are a bit of a sod to program. I've got mine dialled in to the PMR channels now (of course, I have never hit the transmit button) but it was quite the chore. Sure, in the same way that I'd never exceed the speed limit, anywhere, ever, for any reason, in any circumstances.1 point -

Rogerborg reacted to Cyberlawyer for a topic
Not sure I fit into either category. If I had to pigeon hole myself with a catch phrase it would probably be “skills over kills”. I get way more satisfaction from a perfectly executed mag change or a slick weapon transition than racking up a massive body count, which probably explains why I only really use GBBRs all year round. I currently own 4 MWS builds for different purposes and a couple of gas MP5s and a gas MP7. I will probably add an the new Marui AKM just so I can practice my weapon handling drills on one. While that sounds like a lot it’s much cheeper than the revolving door of AEGs a lot of people seem to have.1 point -
Which can lead to much hilarity and head scratching when Alice can hear Bob, but Bob can't hear Alice. It's easier to just try another channel without CTCSS, it's not like you'll have more than 16 channels in use on a typical airsoft site other than some massive milsim or festival.1 point
-
You realise how CTCSS works don't you? It doesn't stop other people hearing you. It means that everyone can still hear you but if you set it then it filters out everything that doesn't use the same ctcss code. Try it - Set your radio to transmit with CTCSS and then get another to receive on same channel but without CTCSS and low and behold you can hear it!1 point

Awkward. That's what you are - awkward. Stereotypes only appear when a whole bunch of people have similar traits. So yeah...they do.1 point
-
TBH probably done you a favour, you'll only go & get the hump again, clearly it's not a firm to waste any more time & money on, irrespective of your ban you naughty boy🤣1 point
-
Yeah sort of. You get alloted 7 or 9 frequencies to use and then it's fight over them as the chance of people using those is significantly lower than the PMR stuff. You do get individual frequencies though if you register as a site as the spectrum is then allocated on your location (assumed the site isn't moving) but the "light" license a lot of the groups use is this self coordination stuff.1 point
-
Oh, I learned something today, I thought it was allocated frequencies, but it turns out it's "self coordination", i.e. "fight over them, peasants". https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0022/29272/ofw432.pdf1 point
-
Like PMR, but without all that tedious mucking about with the fact that a UV-5R isn't legal on those frequencies (power too high, removable antenna). Not like PMR though because you have more power so you'll have no issue with range. If you run it in the BSL frequency range you are running in a legal range with a handset that will be legal if the site has their own licence. The licence covers a whole range of frequencies, not just one frequency per site.1 point

Would appear so , just been speaking to a former marshal there and he said , you can overkill , ignore MED’s or any of the other safety rules as much as you want and all you’ll get is a game sit out or a go home early but dare to question the owners business ethics and your out on your arse for good ! as I have now discovered ! 🤦♂️😆😆😆1 point

Yes, you don't want a "spring gun / springer" [*], and skip any site with "BB" in the name unless you know exactly what you want and why. The bulk of what they sell is disposable tat, and in any case that's a realistic imitation firearm so they should be asking you to provide them with a defence in the form of a site membership / UKARA number (but being a "BB" site, they might not). Airsoft isn't a particularly cheap hobby, you're looking at £30+ per day after buying BBs, and about £100 for the cheapest gun that you'd want to use [*]. These are the sort of brands and models that you'll want to be looking at, although other retailers are available. I've linked to the two-tones since that's what you'll be buying if you haven't played yet. You'll note that a lot of them are out of stock - this is the reality at the moment, we've hit a perfect storm of Chinese Virus, Brexit and loads of people taking up the hobby this summer. https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/airsoft-two-tone-assault-rifles All of these are select-fire electric guns meaning they'll shoot either semi or fully auto using a battery. Some of them come with a basic battery and charger, some don't (and curiously it's the cheaper ones that come with batteries), but you'll also want to budget for some lithium based batteries and a decent charger which is going to run you another £50 or so. Then add in (at least) eye protection and decent boots with ankle protection and you're knocking on £200 to get started with your own gear. But the usual advice remains: play first, then buy. Most sites do a rental package which will supply you with eye/face protection, an electric carbine and a supply of BBs, generally for about £20 extra, so £40 - £50 total for the day. That sounds expensive but includes about £10 worth of BBs that you'd have to pay for anyway, so you're only really paying about £10 extra for the gun / eye protection rental. That's less than you'll lose on buying and selling anything if you find out that don't actually enjoy the hobby. If you do love it (and bear in mind you'll get a huge adrenaline buzz the first couple of times you play) then you can go ahead and buy a two tone gun, or play at least twice more at that site over a period of at least 8 weeks, and that will get you site membership and (generally) a "UKARA" number which will let any retailer sell you anything that you fancy. [*] One exception is spring shotguns, especially indoors / very close quarters, which can be fun and close to effective, but again, rent first and find out.1 point

hi,thanks for all that great advice, the reason i am using the combat machine is i have five other guns that fill the aeg assault rifle role,so this one is a back up for my daughter as she loves her upgraded firehawk to bits!my gun tech was originally going to use a new gun as a base platform but thats pointless when there are options sitting there to be used.so hopefully we will see what the end result will be.thanks for all your feedback1 point

Gbls das Gdr 15 Skirmish Review
Mr Dellski reacted to mightyjebus for a topic
yup, I got that wrong and you are correct. on another note I seem to have acquired another one. Things worth mentioning are: any attachment on the front end of the gun have a tendency to work themself loose because of the recoil so you need to make sure you tighten them up well or use some sort of thread lock. They destroy chinese optics or at the least throw off any zero within a couple of shots. The FPS is very consistant even to the point that I thought my chrono wasn't registering shots because the results were the exact same. The standard hop/inner barrel with a FPS of 320 feels very Marui like in accuracy and range. with the slightly higher FPS than a standard Marui it reaches out accurately to 60/65 meters once the hop is set (I'm using 0.3g BB's). because the trigger has a soft uptake before the break I'm finding that I can hold the trigger on the break for long periods before snapping of a very quick first shot and because the break is solid I'm not too worried about shooting myself in the foot by accident. I'm a few full days in now with these and I really don't feel like I want to go back to TM recoils, PTW's or GBB's. I'm not saying the GBLS is a better AEG but for me the shooting experience is better.1 point -
Had a fantastic day today, even if the games were suuuuuper imbalanced. One team had a dominant position which made it super easy to hold the objectives (which they did), and they had the stronger players so it was a massive stompfest (I was not on this team... 🤣) Still it was great fun, since I decided to stop trying to attack their bases when it was clear our team was woefully outmatched and instead took the Viet Cong approach of hiding in the bushes and just making life difficult for the other team. I got so many people with my silent HPA VSR and mk23 combo and so many bewildered players looking around confused trying to see where they got hit from, even though I was just wearing a short sleeve t-shirt and a leafy hood thing I bought from Russia for £25. However, it really highlighted how 1J builds are better at my local site during the summer. It's thick woodland, so the sight lines are generally pretty crap at this time of the year and a lot of shots I took were either with the mk23 within my MED, or they were at a range I could hit with a 1J gun (like 60m or less)1 point
