I think now matter what we say you should go for it. There aren't enough completely custom guns like this around so don't let strangers on the internet discourage you. Go for it, if it works, great, if it doesn't, learn from it. I want to try doing my own custom pistol like this, just need to find the right internals for it.2 points -
This guy has about 5 or 6 pistols for sale that have two or three pages of bumps each where he's asking stupid money and won't come down on price. One he's asking £80 for a broken TM Sig p226 which he's threaten to fix himself and Jack up the price.(as of writing hes not actually done it)2 points

AOE probably isn’t the biggest issue here. The correct, factual advice has been said already. I’ve done a few high speed builds and I’ve made all the mistakes, I only stopped stripping pistons when I listened to hamster and sittingduck. In all likeliness whats going to happen as soon as you push any UK spec build up near 30rps is premature engagement. This is simply because the springs we use for our velocity limits don’t return the piston quickly enough before the next revolution of the gearset. If the piston gets caught by the sector before its fully returned, chances are the teeth are going to get obliterated or (in the worst cast scenario with a metal rack) the sector gear or bushing/bearing is going to get obliterated. There’s no reason why you cannot make a decently reliable high speed build at UK spec mind, my Leviathon in my M4 (36-37rps) is showing 43,000 rounds since I last rebuilt her! What you’ll need to do is short stroke the piston and sector gear. There are tonnes of guides on short stroking on YouTube, watch a couple and you’ll get the idea. Essentially you’ll be taking teeth off the piston and sector to allow it to be released earlier, ensuring that it can return fully before the next cycle. I’ve settled on removing three teeth from almost everything I build now. If 7:45 brain works properly, teeth come off the pick up end of the sector and the release end of the piston or you could have timing issues. If I’ve got that wrong, there will be plenty of replies to point that out… Removing teeth is going to reduce your output velocity, a decent rule of thumb is 10-15fps per tooth. At this point you’ll need a stronger spring, depending on barrel length+cylinder volume this will vary but I’ve found that 3tooth short stroke and an M115-M120 seems to land on the UK limit in most circumstances. Removing the teeth isn’t hard, you’ll need a metal rack piston, stick the rack in a bench vice and dremel or file away until the teeth are history! Same with the sector, just be extra careful not to damage any teeth on either side you don’t want to remove! Easy enough to do, and you should be able to run your 18:1 with the 30k and 11.1 for a decent period of time. Good pistons to use are the SHS ones although the new gear parts ones @ak2m4 is selling look very similar. Either way AK2M4 sell both, get one! Ali2 points

New CQB Site Gravesend

I am not connected to the site at all. Now that is out if the way, it looks like these guys https://echelonairsoft.co.uk/ are offering flattery to Z-mart by copying them. Have a look around, there are some raised eye brows with a couple of there rules but this is likely to be due to the locals. £30 for a days of cqb. On Fb they only appear to have 'before' photos so would be curious to see the full set up. Like the idea of a local pistol/shotgun night. Now, my game sites are booked in til late October so that will be my earliest visit to this site, but if anyone gets there before me....1 point -

After playing for several years, I spent a few years marshalling at a couple of sites, although not concurrently. The first one was unpaid, not even petrol money, but my two lads got to play for free; I was the pyro marshal (I have a bit of professional history with explosives), so had great fun blowing chunks out of earth mounds, old cars, ponds, the general landscape and, on one occasion, a structure (oops!). All of the marshals thought nobody was getting paid until we found out that the chief marshal was getting £250 per day. By then, my eldest son was also marshalling; we resigned at the end of a day which had started badly and got worse after a row with the site owner. The chief marshal was sacked for supporting me and another marshal resigned in solidarity. Not long after that, the marshal who had resigned in solidarity and I started playing at another site where, after a year or two, we both got roped into marshalling on the basis that my younger son could play for free (his older brother had given up airsoft as he now had real rifles to play with) as could his son. However, we soon realised that the guy running the site was a bit of an arse and that most of the other marshals were a waste of space; the best run day was the occasion when the two of us were the only marshals on the site. We quit and went back to playing at the site. Since then, two site owners have asked me to marshal; I have learned my lesson so politely turned them down. Marshals are essential to airsoft; however, too many sites abuse their goodwill.1 point -
The E&C qd gearbox shells are easily the best bang for buck performance, they are just super hard to get in the UK right now. Quickest way at the moment is probably ordering from a HK store that has stock. You might have fitment issues with the SA receiver but that's to be expected. Not going to be for another 6-8 weeks sadly. There's a small chance I might get 5 or 10 in stock soon but COVID is causing all sorts of delay at the moment, from the factory to shipping to customs.1 point

It's a Specna Edge after all, the Onion gearbox isn't known for its legendary reliability Fitment issues aren't the end of the world to be honest, although I would get an E&C gearbox shell rather than a Retro Arms, it's much cheaper and you won't cry your eyes out if you need to take a dremel/angle grinder anywhere near it1 point

And turn a system that relies on repeatable action to be consistent into an inconsistent as fuck piece of junk? Kay, go ahead AOE isn't a real issue until you hit 30+ RPS, and it's done via TINY washers between the piston head and body anyway, not via a fucking huge rubber pad1 point -
What gun is this in? Prowin are not worth the money, their QC has gone down the shitter these days. Try the £8 plastic ZCi one from @ak2m4.1 point

At least spares support is excellent through Fire-Support. I love working on ICS guns because they are so easy to pull apart. I have three ICS guns and they are great performers out of the box. I've had 4-5 G&G guns over the years also, and they are OK too. My son rolls with my G&G SRS and he loves it.1 point -
We basically do it for petrol/ BB money and for the love of the site, wanting everyone to have a good day, pride in seeing happy knackered faces at the end of the day. There very few sites that could actually afford to pay even a small marshal team minimum wage. If sites had all the things airsofter wanted you would be paying £80 to £100 for a game day. Airsoft sites are a Twilight industry no one in charge wants them around and most of them don't make enough money to be run 100% legit.1 point

Ragingrental reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
it may well do that, but it could also open up alignment issues if it isn't a good fit for the receiver. why do you want to add a sorbo pad? so far i've only ever seen one piston actually be broken in an airsoft gun and that was a g&g polymer head that had been hammered by a combination of terrible air seal compensated for by a stupid strong spring. you don't want the piston impact to be too spongey, otherwise the aoe will change from when you set it on the workbench to when you have the spring in the gun.1 point -

It's really frustrating how airsoft guns are such fragile toys. I've had airguns that cost less than my airsoft gun that were made out of better materials and still work without a problem and have never had a single part break. Ffs how hard can it be to make the most fragile parts out of better material? Do they already not make money on airsoft guns the same as games consoles manufacturers almost lose money selling consoles? Really considering picking up a retroarms gearbox soon. Seems like it'd last bloody ages. Might also pick up a different piston head in the hopes the AOE would be worse so that I could add a sorbo pad.1 point -

Totally what he said , what your asking is the same as the “what gun should I get ?” question new players frequently ask . You’ll never get your definitive answer simply due to the the fact the responders have different likes and dislikes , one man’s perfect gun is another’s worst abomination on Earth ! Me personally my choice of guns is all about the form not the function I want to like the look of my guns and if it has poor function I’ll find a solution to improve it , where as other players don’t care what it looks like just as long as it has the highest power/shoots the fastest/has greatest distance of any gun on the game site . So ultimately just crack on and if it works ? It’s a case of “huzzah I’m an airsoft genius !” and if it doesn’t ? Then it’s a case of “fuck , that wasn’t supposed to happen !” AND remember ‘opinions are like arse holes , everyone has one and there frequently full of shit !’😉 Live long and prosper .👍1 point

i don't think it's actually a slide, looks more like a bolt mauser style? would make sense with the then fixed optic rail the scorpion evo selector was meant to be a lesson not a challenge.......1 point -
I looks great, but more of a wall hanger than a skirmishable gun. The hi capa is the perfect skirmishable pistol and you seem to have taken away a lot of what makes it great to use in the mission to make it look better1 point
-
Interesting for a movie type gun but looks quite impractical for actual use. Why is the lower so big? Does it have an integrated 'grenade' launcher? Couple of aesthetic notes: - Unclear how the slide works. - The selector behind the trigger will make it very uncomfortable to hold. - Its hard to see but the grip design should be inverted so its a bit thicker at the back and thinner at the front. (I would also add slight finger indents to the front)1 point

Pistons Keep Stripping

Already got a gate Nano aab mosfet fitted. I'm not too bad with a soldering iron either. So, an 18:1 gearset and a 110 spring (I'm currently running a guarder sp100 at around 315 on 0.2s) with two teeth off the sector gear should do the trick with 11.1s?1 point -

Maruzen m1100 on Zero in. Uncommon, not that hard to get. The shells are probably harder to source than the gun. But he's split the shells. And it has an ejector issue he's trying to pass off as normal. Already tried to give some advice, even how to fix it but it got ignored. If anyone's interested it really isn't that rare, and it's up at twice as much as it should be.1 point -
May as well update this in case someone wants to build one. Bored of waiting for a TanukiWorks HPA adaptor restock and unwilling to pay for extra magazines I got creative. Turns out the width of the standard KC02 mags and the collar of the top of the G&G M4 drums is almost identical. With not much more than fitting the Bowden spring into the KC02 mag and epoxying the mag into the drum - the KC02 HPA drum mag was born! I ran a test of a few hundred rounds and it feeds perfectly and is as consistent as one would expect with HPA. I was worried about the sheer weight of the thing in the mag well but it seems to be a non-issue1 point

@Ricky Sin whoa there where the f*** did you come from 😂 “Even if you did decide to restrict calories, sure, your body would burn body fat initially & you'd lose some weight. But eventually your body would decide the low-calorie environment was not a temporary situation & would cling on to your remaining fat reserves for dear life, literally. Your body just down regulates its immune & reproductive systems & makes you want to exercise less while the number on the scale doesn't change.” Thats what I said/meant; “Also when you eat dramatically less your body changes the way it works, going toward more of a survival mode, so yes you will initially lose a lot of weight but that is only through the shock of it.” Yes complex carbs have been present in our diet since the dawn of time, a lot of our intake would have been scavenging beans, pulses and nuts. It goes perfectly in line with your 2500k MacD example, it’s all processed crap, made from nutritionally non existent goods, people would call it a carby meal and they would be right, but they are crap carbs. Carbs are almost like a small re supply crates, but most are full of all the gear you didn’t need. The right carbs will keep you going for longer as they take more time to be processed (unpacked) and turned into glucose, nutrients extracted. Sugars are straight in hits that will load your bloodstream and fall away again just as fast, leaving you hungry again. I wasn’t saying to carb load, but if you have a physical long day ahead then having a balanced meal with carbs the night before will stand you in good stead for the following day. Going back to our 300,000 year old selves I’m sure our day would have gone something like; Get up go hunting / gathering. Snack on small things found along the way throughout the day. (nuts, insects, fruit, fish?) Back in the afternoon/evening with the clan have a meal together based on the days collection. (meat, beans, pulses, etc) People always feel better on little and often especially when exercising, on low carbs. As these sit with us and take time to process which ultimately means our body is doing another task internally alongside whatever we may be trying to achieve (airsoft objective) “I guess the key thing is that if you're fat or lethargic, then whatever you're eating or doing needs to change. You won't know until you try.” Exactly that, you need to listen to your body.1 point

This is where we begin to get to the bones of it. How much would you marshal for? If you are marshalling for game days, how many games have you played under this arangement? Then we hit the financials of the hobby. Rent will be your biggest monthly expense, and staff, should be your next. My thoughts, marshals should be paid, should have 'training' (although what this means i am not sure) and should get a weekend of every month to go play.1 point -

I'm trying to figure out how poor AOE could result in stripping teeth out of the middle of a piston. I get that it might wear the 2nd tooth from the back, but it's engaging at the minimum of spring tension, and once it engages with the rear tooth, it's not going to pull any differently than if you had the AOE spot on. Not that I have anything better to suggest, I've yet to succeed in stripping even a plastic piston.1 point

I often used to be a player/marshall for one of my teammates chain of sites, as did most of my teammates (but not all) why ?, as a team we were generally known for high levels of fair play, so it kinda made sense that we were asked to "quietly" police gameplay to ensure harmony. Essentially the site organiser would ask us to discretely support his paid hi-viz clad staff, during the safety briefing he would inform the punters that there were player marshals undercover within the teams who would only identify themselves if absolutely necessary, & generally this worked very well, players who may have been tempted to bend the rules because there was no hi-viz in sight had to consider who else was watching. how did we approach it ?, mostly it was the occasional honesty shot in the butt for anyone pointed out to us, sometimes people mildly kicking off were told to head back to the safe zone for 15 mins to hydrate & calm down, on the understanding that another episode would result in a half or full day break, or lifetime ban for the extreme cases (obviously this would be confirmed by the paid staff & was a rare occurrence). we had one teammate who at times was at times unpredictable in his playing style & attitude, partly due to issues in his home life, needless to say he was never asked to fill the role. in return, we got free game days, & they were usually very enjoyable, if you expect fair & honest gameplay, how better than to be quietly ensuring it's happening 👍1 point
