Guns You Think Are Good, but You Hate Them Anyway.
Impulse and 2 others reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
inspired by some recent random chat about the scorpion evo figured it might be a fun idea to find out how many folks have irrational hatred for guns (or aspects of them). so what guns do you think are good (either real or airsoft), but you hate them anyway? for me it's glocks, i get that both real and (the good) airsoft versions make for fine gats, simple, easy to use, reliable and effective enough to get the job done. i can understand their popularity and i'll admit if i actually had to bet my life on a handgun it would be a good choice. but i hate them, they're boring, boxy, and the tat people sprinkle on them or carve into them with soldering irons just makes it worse. i also hate the fashion for putting buffer tube stocks on everything, ak's being most prominent but anything from shotguns, mp5's, scar's etc. i get that it means adjustability, i get that it allows a wide selection of stock options, i get that it makes sense. but i still hate it.3 points -

Aye, it'll be so much easier replacing gas refills with... Carrying a heavy tank on your back Having to disconnect and reconnect a line everytime you reload (or having a drum mag made up, which will just be a significant weight increase) Reducing have easy the RIF is to manipulate because you're tethered to it Having to get your tank filled up Doing maintenance on your HPA equipment to keep it airtight and safe Doing additional maintenance on everything because the air is so dry Yup, a real time saver and increase in convenience 👀. The beneft of HPA is consistency and that's about it, outside of that you're making your life harder versus running it as a regular GBBR.3 points

Hi & welcome! You may be able to tempt your mates back with a trip to your local site, you're paying them to make it fun and provide a challenge which will (hopefully) be a step up from messing about in the woods. Alternatively if you've a few acres of woodland and no local site you could always start your own .... if you build it they will come .......... (bonus points for naming the movie) Oh and @GAMBLE's got a YouTube channel, gameplay as well as other tips & useful info in it.2 points

Good points, I've learned that it's always a good idea to bring at least one backup AEG and the box-o-bits. I got a full day on Saturday via playing with backup #1, then cannibalising backup #2 to get DMR Prime sorted at lunch. It was surprising (and a little disappointing) the number of folk who made of point of saying "Rather you than me, mate" or "I'd never risk working on my gun, mate", as though ignorance is a virtue. Come on, M4 hop units are one bolt then a circlip, you could train a monkey to work on them. And not a monkey from the top of the tree either, one who's fallen out a few times and hit his head on every branch on the way down.2 points

Every game I go to I take poundland tool set (you know the stubby handle with like 30magnetic bits everything you need to take a rifle apart) and a long screw driver and hex keys it all fits in the front pouch of my gun bag and I'll bring spares too like old hop rubbers and nubs that ive replaced and kept as a back up as id rather be back in the game then have to call it quits. Understandable when you first start off you won thave much but it'll save you so much hastle and agro just by knowing that you can quickily resolve an issue should it arrise.2 points

You’re more than welcome to justify your choice as much as you wish, I just wanted to highlight that you’re making a claim that HPA is going to improve something that it isn’t. I’d strongly recommend you do some proper research and weigh up the positives and negatives. I’m not intending to entirely come across as a prick here (while fully aware I am), but given you’re statement in your previous post it leaps out to me that you perhaps don’t know exactly what running a RIF on HPA entails. I dare say you’re far more worried about the cold weather than you should be, but it seems you’ve got your mind set on it so I won’t waste any further breath. My final piece of advice being, once you’ve tarnished those poor mags with HPA taps I’d probably avoid putting photos of them in here. Lest you be bombarded with ‘Careful Nows’ and burn the witch gifs… and that’s assuming the folks decide to keep it civil 👀. As always, you do you, but it’s probably for the best that you know what to expect.1 point -

I can think of one but I'm going to leave it for a certain someone who's way more opinionated lol. For me the only stock that looks right on an MP5 is the collapsing A3. I can't stand stubby versions of full length rifles, they all look shite. I know for airsoft barrel length really doesn't matter but I feel like anything less than 8" just looks weird ( oi oi ) Conversely, extra long pistols also look wank. They're the least subtle way to tell people you feel inadequate short of getting it out and waving it at people. Other than that just unnecessary pic rails stuck on everything.1 point -

BUT playing devils advocate the hot guns ? that’s the fault of the retailer who sold the guns to them in the first place not the players for lack of technical knowledge , really pisses me off the way British airsoft retailers are STILL sell guns you can’t use because there too hot or charge you to make it legal to use . You don’t go in to PC world to buy a new TV and expect to find an American plug on it , to then be told by the shop “oh thats not ours problem we just sell them , if you want to watch it you need to change the plug your self or we’ll do it for you and charge you 30quid !” Would you ? Plus the minute you do crack it to change the spring your warranty is gone and the very same retailer who sold you a gun you had to alter your self to use will turn around and say “the gun stopped working ? Nope we won’t do anything about it you opened it up so you voided the warranty !” The hop rubber again if it’s a new gun retailer should have tested it first before selling it . I’ve never had to change a hop rubber because it was faulty only time I’ve changed them is for a better one or it’s a 2nd hand gun and previous owner been ‘fiddling’ and bollox’ed it up . Buffer tube ? Just sounds like a spoilt bastard ! 😂 PS you don’t use as screwdriver to tighten a buffer tube .😇1 point

If I was to sum up my feelings on 3 point slings in one image: And just to be clear I only raised my own opinion because it was given as a recommendation when the person making the recommendation hasn’t actually got experience with the thing they’re recommending i.e. combining a 3 point sling and an EVO. I wouldn’t usually be so pernickety but as others have highlighted they’re better on some RIFs than others because of how they get in the way of controls… especially on a RIF with a ‘bolt release’ of sorts. There are literally forum rules regarding giving advice in this regard (yes, I’m aware I’m the only person that actually reads them).1 point

THE TM MWS thread
GothicGhost reacted to alxndrhll for a topic
It's such a subjective question that any answer is largely moot, seems like you're ultimately trying to get folks to justify whatever decision you're leaning toward... which given the thread you've asked in is likely going to have a fairly biased leaning. So, trying to be objective. Things you'll loose: Mag capacity Being able to use fancy speedloaders without adapters (which often don't work) Being able to treat your mags like crap Having mags which are less than half a kilogram each A larger degree of control over shot to shot consistency in terms of FPS/Joules (depends how well maintained your NGRS is) Not having to worry about weather (that's not to say I've ever found weather to be an issue, but I've definitely had some cold mornings where the drive is spent praying the MWS will run right) Buying some decent batteries and that being a one off cost (assuming you look after them) Easy to source parts, both stock and aftermarket, in the UK Things you'll gain: More 'immersion' Being able to use more RS parts (with some needing modification to varying extents) Very expensive mags Heavy mags (I tend to advise moving to RS pouches/load bearing when moving to GBBRs due the mag weight... may not be necessary, but I certainly don't want a kit failure knackering a £50 mag) The ongoing cost of whatever you choose to power it with Having to order many of the parts you want, both stock and aftermarket, from abroad I'm sure there are more that hairs could be split over, but they feel like the big ones, it's largely 'mag centric' for me. You'll kinda have to pick your poison from there. FWIW I have both, and wouldn't want to be without either. Sometimes I just want a day of light 120 round mags, wang a battery in when I arrive on site and have at it. Sometimes I want to torture myself with 35 round mags and make up for it with a dose of GBBR ASMR. Sometimes I'll do one in the morning and swap over for the afternoon, so from my experience I'd hold onto the NGRS and just do a good ol' fashioned 'save up' for the MWS. But as I said at the top of the post... my opinion is entirely moot because I'm not you.1 point -

Sad to hear you’re not getting on with the MWS experience. As an ex PTW fanboy myself, I’m finding the overall reliability of the MWS platform very refreshing. I enjoy maintaining and tinkering with the gun, and it’s never let me down in a game, which I found was a major issue with my PTW’s, which I ran for about 10 years. I got sick of having to send them off to mysterious gurus for months at a time, to have various weak design flaws rectified at hundreds of pounds of cost. Worn sector gears, faulty motors, chopped bb’s, misfeeding magazines, catastrophic failure in very wet conditions, and a general lack of feedback from firing the PTW are all things that are thankfully long behind me know. They just got in the way of me enjoying skirmishes in the end. With a light bit of fettling, and good maintenance I’m glad to say neither my MWS or MP7 have ever failed to fire, and shoot accurately absolutely miles. Yes the mags are real capacity and realistically heavy, but I’ve completely got used to that, and I’m getting as many kills as I usually got, just with much more satisfaction of having bettered my hi-cap hose, sewing machine wielding opponents.1 point -
