  2. Hence why I stick to bog-standard M4's for now (gonna try my hand at upgrading soon tho) so I should be able to repair/replace anything that breaks. As for anything outfit wise: I don't care if anything happens to it, I'm there to roll in the mud (really opens up those pores) and get dirty/scratched. I'm not a big fan of having kit that still looks unused/new. Hell, lot of the stuff comes from army surplus stores anyway so it already looks used and sometimes has visible repairs.

  3. I'd say its similar to gambling or investing. Don't put in more than you're willing to loose. A bad fall can show how delicate our toys really are. Yes, they can usually be repaired but as BigStew said, that's IF you can find parts and they could be expensive.

  4. Bear in mind that by purchasing from outside of the UK you are the ‘importer’ and are taking responsibility for ensuring that it gets through customs. That includes: 1) any additional charges from HMRC/Border Force and fees from the carrier at point of entry for administering those (though if the retailer has registered with HMRC and charge you UK VAT at the point of sale they should be marking the package and paper work accordingly and you shouldn’t incur further charges/fees) 2) justifying the import of a RIF, ideally with a valid UKARA membership number which the retailer will ideally clearly mark on the package and paper work (Other VCRA defences are available but it’s nobody’s problem but yours if it isn’t accepted on arrival Ask UK retailers if they will import on your behalf even if they don’t list the specific items. That way they deal with the importing via their suppliers and relieve some of the common issues

  6. If the gun has weird/proprietary parts then no, don't use it, but solely because it'll be a pain in the ass to fix it. I have spent a fortune on my guns, some of my RIFs have well over €600 worth of parts invested onto (excluding the base gun price) but I don't mind getting them dirty/scuffed, I see them as tools and as such they need to be used and withstand abuse. The same applies to the rest of my gear, when I got my Mayflower rig I tore a small hole in one of the side pouches on its first outing.. yeah it pissed me off for a good 15 minutes where I cursed every deity known to the animal kingdom and then some, but after all I bought it to use it and this kind of damage is something that just happens.

  7. I've used the AX15 at 2 games so far and after the first woodland game I decided to swap out the hop unit and inner barrel as it struggled to lift 28's at distance. I popped onto AK2M4's website and purchased a couple of ZCI hop units and a couple of Omega Nub packs. I also fitted a 310mm Maple Leaf 6.02 inner barrel from HPA-UK. I used the ZCI hop rubber that comes with the hop units as it seems pretty good quality for sub 350 FPS. I used it with the upgrades at the weekend at UCAP's Vendetta site and the changes made a massive difference to the range and accuracy. My KWA midcaps decided that they indeed did want to work with the AX15 so that was a bonus. Probably going to swap the stock for either a BCM Gunfighter stock or a Magpul EPS-C because I think it will look better with either of them but can't decide on which one yet. Overall opinion is that's it's a very good mid range AEG and can be inproved by some simple cheap upgrades.

  8. As part of my promise to get him to as many fields as we can before he leaves, the boy and I were there yesterday too. Was very impressed by the safe zone and the Marshalls. Struggled with the morning games which I am putting down to not knowing the map, and suffering a few technical issues (one of his AEG's was firing whilst in safe mode and without pulling the trigger, which I think is a dodgy mosfet) and my Double Eagle was more a Splatter Gun than a rifle. There were a couple of teenagers "shooting a video" which was their excuse for being thoroughly annoying by playing music during the game play, but I managed to keep out of their way for most of the day. Really enjoyed the last game as our team had to get a stretcher with kings hats on it, across the majority of the map with the Blue team, I assume, on a rolling retreat. My Specna was on form shooting nice and straight, but not as far as liked. Was pretty impressive to see the food van clearing the queue, and this was the biggest number I've seen on a gameday at one event too. We should be going back to AP for the two day event at the end of the month, although I'm not sure how my legs will cope. I have a thermal camera for work ,so that will make night ops an interesting one - although I'm a little worried about the lens LOL. Had a god day at Reforger the other week too, although I didn't get many kills. I nearly put an end to my chances of being a grandfather when I lobbed a smoke grenade to cover the Boy's final sprint to the objective (suicide bombing the plane) only for it to land short - right between his legs and nearly cauterised his family jewels. It's a shame we're out of sync with our regular sites' gamedays, but once SWMBO has fecked off for the summer I can sneak in extra days - but mum's the word on that one 😁.

  9. First time up at RedAlert. I will be back, likely the bodies I that chauffeured me will be back before I am, which is rude. So a quick and dirty run down. Loved it. We did well and managed to get a great space in the safe zone, to be moved on saying there is a couple of parties, went to actual safe some to loose out on the last table. Fine, compressed kit and found a spot to stand in, passed by @Skullchewer and some of the Outcasts, nice to meet you. banter is very light hearted, even people asking for small favours or borrow X or y. The whole feel was very welcoming. safety brief, well it's a safety brief... they give good expectations as to turn time on games, but as always, it's herding cats. first game is fast and a great wake up, lemmings they called it. Fun. Touch the police van, sat in the middle of the town with very clear field of fire surrounding it! I'll say this for the town, it is a great set up, lots of smaller buildings couple of taller ones many hiding spots and many ways of getting shot. Good fun it did feel like the reds (us) were going to get steam rolled as the yellows did take a some great angles to get them in. turn it more fun but I did find the "incline" repetitive 😂. back in and new game - move box from a - b catch is (and I really liked this) carriers are designated and can only change at spawn. Defended first, intense heavy constant fire. Loved it. Anyway theme of the day was fun. First aid response was great (my brother cut himself open on a knee slide, the second one that day). Great showing from all involved. do recommend, would have liked to explore the whole site, our day was very town centric but loved it. The paintball parties didn't interfere at all. oh, and the rolling storm the fort? Very fast game. Smiled all the way through even if I did manage to stick myself in from of a number of people, and I know it looked bad as the reaction was "that sharp intake of breath" rather than a bit of a giggle, and yes it feels like a bruised rib and yes I did move my toy gun out of the way and take the impact on my rig....it made sense at the time.

  13. Don't worry, DE still make some shitty old springers But there are threads for the new ones, you can see they're not full of people complaining about them, though the stock spring is made of cheese and will need replacing. And the stock hop rubber is tough as old boots, so might as well chuck in something a bit more malleable to hop 0.28s and up ... one I started, which has some accuracy and upgrade tests

  22. Yeah if you are going to field an expensive gun make sure you can get parts. just heard a tale of some poor sod dropping and breaking the receiver on a stupidly upgraded TM 417 on it's 1st outing and there are no receivers to be had.

  23. That spring retains your rear takedown pin. You can easily unfuck that. Loctite the castle nut as you say, should sort it but honestly shouldn’t undo that easy. Are you putting the gun in a vice or bedroom teching it and holding it with your hands?

  26. Have you checked the plastic wheel retaining ring thingy on the back of the hop unit? - one of mine backed out slightly causing a slight misaligment in the magwell, and strange power drop/inconsistencies. This part is slightly revised in shape on newer-manufactured versions of the hop unit, but the priniciple is the same - the two slots are used top screw it in or out. Might not be your problem, but worth checking anyway?

  27. Thanks for the tips, I have run it at several games and put 1000+ rds through it and not had any semi lock up - must have been a one off! It does sound a little screechy in the video - certainly not that bad in real life, probably down to the cheap mic on the phone. I checked the shimming with all gears in place and the shell screwed shut (not just held shut with fingers!) and it was all spinning smoothly.

  28. I agree a reply should be sent.... But bear in mind we don't know how people's lives run. I've been off the forum for a few weeks due to work and family; so there might well be a valid reason. But having contributed in a professional capacity of forums giving advice to people, it was very annoying when an answer was given potentially saving someone thousands of pounds, and there wasn't ever a thanks given (which was all we were ever after).

    Hello everyone!

Hi and Welcome As Shamal said, check out HERE to find game sites near you. In the simplest terms you have to play 3 games at the same site within a certain time (3 months) (Most sites don't really care about the timing. Most people will rent a gun (you can buy your own mask & goggles) If you know anyone with a spare gun then you can use that without having to rent. Once you've played 3 games at that site you can request to get registered with a UKARA number. It should be free but most do charge a fee Without UKARA (+18) you can buy a Two-Tone (Imitation Firearm) [IF] It will come from the shop painted 50% with the most common colours being Red, Blue or Green With UKARA (+18) you can buy a (Realistic Imitation Firearm) [RIF] Hope that helps. Loads more info in the forum so dive in and enjoy 😁

    Hello everyone!

Hi Ulmo. Welcome to the forum 👍 Where are you based in the UK? There is a website called 'Play Airsoft UK'. Have a look on there and it will help you with Airsoft locations near you. A good place to start reading is on this forum. When you find a Airsoft site near you, have a look on their website and maybe pop along to talk to the organisers who will help you. It generally takes about 3 months to get your ukara from when you first join and start playing at a club. Have fun and I hope you get playing soon.🙂 Regards

  33. After about a year-long hiatus I had my first game again yesterday, at Skirmish High Wycombe and I definitely enjoyed it. The site has changed a bit since my last visit, although mainly the safety zone, with more covered tables (but thankfully I stayed dry yesterday), a better food joint in a separate container (their bacon baps are great and bigger than expected, I almost had some struggle finishing both). It seems they have a few more marshals walking around now who are, thankfully, a bit older. From what I remember from a year ago, most of the marshals were quite young (some not even 18) which meant they didn't really have the (figurative) dick'n'balls to stand out over some of the rougher clientele. These new marshals were very good and didn't take crap from anyone. Even tho it stayed dry all day, the field was quite soggy and muddy, but that seems to be the norm there My highlights of the day were: - Everyone doing their best to avoid a massive muddy patch to not get their shoes dirty. - That same muddy patch having the objective, so there was no choice but to go through it if you wanted to win - Coming over a hill and see a group of (opposing) rentals looking somewhere else and spraying the whole lot of them (about 15M distance so no need to feel sorry for them). - Seeing the same group of rentals refusing to push the same flank for the rest of the battle and always attacking the other flank instead. - Getting called a cheater by one guy on the opposite team who complained to the marshal about me not taking my hits. - Another marshal standing close to me most of that game and noticing I accepted every hit I recieved (and even told me that I wasn't shot in the back but that it was a ricochet so I could stay where I was after I put my hand up). - Seeing someones rifle stick out behind a barricade and hitting it from at least 35M distance. (Not that my aim is that great, I fired half a mid-cap that way. Worth it!)

  34. To me it's that combination of availability and budget. There are a lot of airsoft guns that exist (especially 90s stuff) that look real cool and are valuable to collectors, but they're made of shit plastic and you'd never ever find an original replacement part no matter how much money you have because they've been out of production for many years. As I think about it, the number of airsoft guns that are out of production vs currently available is probably huge actually. Obviously a discontinued version of a plastic G&G AR is probably not something anyone will cry over if broken so there are levels and that's a personal choice, I wouldn't let anyone else dictate that for you. If something is fixable/replaceable but you can't really afford to fix or replace it, then that's the other consideration and only you know your budget so again, not something for others to dictate.

  35. One thing I've just thought of. What are the gnus made of? For example the steel body of my E&L AK will take far more of a beating than the plastic body of my MP5K, so despite being significantly more expensive it's less likely to take significant damage so I'll feel more confident taking a fall (for example) with the AK

  36. Great point, I'll use a couple of my 2 tones for the first few games to get a read on my gameplay style & once more confident bring out the 'favourites'. Too many if I'm honest, started as a replica L1A1 to match the uniformed maniquin I kitted out in 58 pattern webbing & uniform I wore in the TA & snowballed from there, currently I have 5 snipers, 9 WW11 era, 11 bullpups, 7 SMG's, 2 PDW's, 19 rifles & 9 pistols. Happy to use a G36C or SCAR-L for gaming but I have an L85A3, L86 LSW, a Tavor, FN2000, AUG G2 & a FAMAS I'd hate to damage. 18 are replica's or props & about another dozen are cheap springers or bought as faulty (wallhangers). I don't expect to be an energetic player but who know's... I might do myself more damage than my RIF's.

  37. Personal choice. I'm looking at an LCT rpd. I would be devastated if I spent over £1000 on a gun and it never got played with. But that's because I WANT to play with it. Basically it comes down to how pissed off would you be if you damaged it. And can you get parts if you do.
    1 point
  38. Whilst this is entirely true, and there's a lot you can do by being a careful custodian there are some points to consider; -there's the ever present risk of tripping etc, and theres never a guarantee you wont land on it in just the right way to break something. -even just the normal course of shooting you can get broken or worn out parts, for run of the mill stuff you just replace what breaks but if the gun has uncommon proprietary parts go they can be a pain to source. -babying a gun can detract from the gameplay experience, as you'll be too distracted to play the way you really want to if you're forever being careful not to scrape it against barricades or drop it in the dirt. -there remains the risk of it being pinched if left unattended, although that said i've only ever heard of guns going walkies anecdotally. If the gun has rarity value, with it being difficult to repair/replace parts if they break (internal or external) then it's maybe better to leave it at home, not like a cheaper more common gat is gonna be massively worse at the fundamental task of bb lobbing. End of the day a pew that you aren't afraid of picking up some battlescars is the one you want to be taking to the field, where you draw the line on the cost/rarity graph is something that's entirely personal.

A change of hop for NGRS

In my opinion I have to agree with @SBoardley. TM ngrs hop unit is perfect and works flawlessly, I had my ngrs for last 3 and a half years and only things hopup wise i changed were, hop nub, hop bucking and inner barrel. At the moment I am using maple leaf nub, maple leaf super macaron 60 bucking and ZCI 6.02 steel tight bore and results are amazing. I can easily hop anything i put into it and range is around 50 to 60 metres with 300mm tight bore barrel.

  40. The guns going to be in your hands all day so it's all down to how you play If you're slow and quiet and pick your shots and time to attack there's no reason you can't use something you think is rare or a wall hanger because you'll be concuous about it If you kick doors in, jump in puddles, run and slide everywhere use your cheap gun
