People asking questions on sales and not even reading the reply

What kinda defence would you accept? There is always the very thorough threads in the 'law' section that imply that whilst I have never been on the ukara register, I do have a valid defence.... Absolutely not. That would make this site an even greater clique than it currently is (and yes I understand that is the nature of forums), and how many of the regular posters would that exclude? I personally spent a week or so as a guest, reading like crazy whilst deciding to sink money and time into the hobby, when I did start posting, there was a lot of repeating a couple of posts above, again the nature of forums. As to the ghosting of buying/selling here.... I have found Comms are much better from active users.4 points -

So it's been a good week. Just as I left for work last night my tm g3sg1 turned up that I bought from someone. Frustrating timing but that's how it goes. So this morning after 5 hours sleep (thanks neighbours) I rish tk the box like a kid at Christmas. Tear into it and look like a loving stalker at the new pew. Plug in a battery and nothing. Try another and nothing. Ok, plug in the warfet programming card and it's configured with 11.1 battery protection. So I try to change it but the buttons don't want to play ball (I had been forewarned the card was very sketchy). So off I toddle to component shop to order a couple of 11.1 lipos (cheaper than a new warfet). I figure I might aswell order the kill flash for the sight whilst I am at it. Back down and more fiddling with the gun and it occurs to me. Its fecking huge. Much rummaging for my gun bags ensues. Sure enough......its about 15cm too long. Now this kids is where you learn to control your impulse buys. A search of amazon and the likes turns up a variety of 110-120cm long bags and ofcourse if not for the killflash purchase...I would buy one. But a tenner to short on most. So roll on Monday when I can order the gun bag and hopefully. Are a decision on .28, .32 or .36 bb's in a dmr. Yoy have to laugh at yourself sometimes.3 points -
Take off stock and place in bag. Desperately try to find the pins when you get to site. Play all day with no stock and the battery taped to the side of the receiver. Find pins in your pocket when you get home.3 points

No. This would block any new players wanting to get into the game from joining leaving them to go elsewhere and get dog shit advice from people who don't know what they're on about. Also there are quite a few long time players on here who don't have a site membership for one reason or another. Yes, this does leave us open to the usual dickheads and time wasters, but then who will we have to take the piss out of?3 points -

They'll have had an email with the contents of your reply I expect? if they've read that, it answers their question and they've decided it doesn't need a reply then there's no incentive to log on here and read it again. Still begs the question of why they decided a response wasn't needed. Personally I'd reply with a 'thanks but no thanks' kind of reply, because that's the courteous thing to do.2 points -

The flip side is sending questions and pm's that don't get answered by the seller. I've got one pm that still hasn't been read after more than a week, on an item that hasn't been marked as sold, even after prompting with a question. Sellers, check your pm's at least daily please2 points -

Well, legally you can, because purchase isn't an offence, and neither is gifting. However, finding someone who will commit the offence of selling to you is the problem. That said, what I'd suggest - and I'm assuming @Potatoe man isn't an active airsofter - is to look at buying a two-tone non-realistic imitation firearm, which just requires you to be 18. You can't sell it on to him, but you can gift it. Caveat: that's if he can be trusted not to take it out to the local woods to show off to his mates. Realistic or day-glo orange, public possession of any imitation firearm without a reasonable excuse is an offence. If he can be trusted with the ownership and use of it, then how long it stays a two-tone shouldn't be a concern. If he can't be trusted, then don't get him anything at all.1 point

An Action Hobbies boneyard CYMA CM.041K for only £55 with three mags... ... which once I'm happy with it will become my DMR sidearm (sorry AAP-01). It's a bit stroppy on semi though, so will have to be disassembled and examined (... and if I'm taking it apart I may as well fit a GATE Titan v3 basic, justifying it to myself that it still just costs less than a new one).1 point -
Note that gifting in itself is not a defence, it’s a VCRA loophole The offence covers the sale, manufacture/modify & importation of RIFs As it covers sales it doesn’t cover ‘giving without recompense’, but you can only give what you can get Under the law - no you cannot buy a RIF to give to him But you could go and play with him three times, obtain your own UKARA membership and then buy a RIF to give him1 point

Selling my Airsoft shield that has been modified to add high power lights and mag carriers Lights - includes two off-road track lights 4200 Lumens each (these are extremely bright), impact resistant (Including 2.32 joules), powered by 2 11.1v lipos in series (these will be included if collected but have seen better days) battery can be replaced with a small 12v lipo motorcycle battery. Operated by a pressure switch on the handle Mag carriers - includes two kydex mag carriers for double stack 9mm mags so will fit mag similar size to Glock mags. Velcro panel - velcro panel added to the front for patches such as police/FBI/DEA Viewing screen - viewing screen has a small crack in it (nearly impossible to photograph) this doesn't effect use and can be replaced easily or removed completely This is a useful tool on Airsoft sites that allow shields, It has been used to great effect and is great for team use. More photos can be provided if required. £100 collected (east Manchester area) £125 posted (this will not include the batteries) (Buyer covers fees)£100

Good eye pro and footwear is infinitely more important than buying the most expensive gun you can find. Dont go to YouTube if you want an honest gun review. If you want to know what gun to buy, go to a good retailer and get hands on with them. Everyone can tell you what they think, but if you don’t like it it doesn’t matter how well it performs.1 point

Ok, "dad tech" to the rescue!! Lol Stripped it out last night and the arl spring was mullered, so a bit of pliers action and it was back to the shape it should be. Ish. Used a bit of jb on the hole and it's back up and running, 12rps at 260fps/0.28g. yay. Thanks for the help and suggestions guys, appreciated. 👍 (Then fixed his Glock 19 as his recoil spring was in back to front and the slide was sticking!!!)1 point

If I could do anything I’d go back and make myself buy the expensive things once, rather than the cheaper version before then buying the expensive thing. The old adage of ‘buy cheap, buy twice’ is definitely true and if I had just committed first time round I’d probably have saved 30% in the long run. As has been said before, decent eyepro and decent footwear is a must and the amount of money spent is directly proportionate to the comfort and utility. Carry an IFAK, and definitely make sure it’s got burn gel in it! A proper kydex or Safariland holster on a UBL is infinitely better than anything on a drop-leg rig. Universal holsters are universally average. Oh, and buy the proper Odin Speedloader not the knock-offs.1 point

Picked up a CA53 from @VonGrimm and he was very honest in his description. After a bit of work she's looking a bit better. Just need to sort out the gearbox issue once the part arrives and I might replace the CA Mosfet with a NanoAAB I've got here sitting doing nothing. Before: After: Based on a HK53A2 I fondled in Iraq belonging to the RMP CP teams. I also took a bit of time and gave the XM177 PTW a bit of a service.1 point -

This is the recoil model similar to the TM NGRS AK's. externally it has some Inokatsu laminated furniture worn naturally and the magazine is a RS slab slided early AK mag modified for a midcap internals. Internally it is running a Leviathion V3 and ZCI 400mm inner barrel and Maple Leaf Mr Hop (50).1 point -

Agreed, but on the flip-side no seller should get in a huff about a buyer not wanting to do F&F even if (objectively / for the sake of the argument) he/she does have a good rep. The 'only what you can afford to lose' is a good thing to go by. It varies greatly for different people of course, and I once read a psychology article that says when you're scammed the financial hit feels three times worse than if you'd just dropped the money down a hole. I can believe that.1 point -
