Well. First new kit brought in well over 7/8 years. Set myself up with what I’m going to try to narrow down to be a mid war marine impression. Long way removed from my usual Russian kits but fancied a change and something I’d not done before. Everything is repro for the time being and chances are I’ll just swap a pouch a month or there abouts until at least the webbing is original. Just need to get it dirty & add my own flair to it now4 points

It may be blowing a hoolie out there today, but it hasn't stopped DHL and the local postie! Finally sourced some OG-style Cyma metal mid caps (Tiger111HK taking just over a week from order 🤜) a multicam tropic Spiritus-clone chest rig from Weapon762 (again, just over a week from order), a TMC panel I wanted for the kydex SMG insert, which, sadly is as much use as tits on a fish at retaining GBB MP7 mags (cheapy elastic insert will be procured instead) and a few Bio BBs to test. Still waiting on a couple of Baofeng UV5-Rs, which I do have an Ofcom licence for, before the ham wankers get triggered, and also a lens protector for for an Eotech.3 points -

Did you adjust the hop up at all before firing those shots? If not, do so. The AAP needs a touch of hop to do anything, as when it's off, it's very much off. It's either that or the arm has come loose during shipping, of which I've heard of a few instances happening. Mag doing leaky things is just the joys of warehouses and airsoft QC I guess. I'd be the type to sort it myself (bit of silicone oil in the fill valve and a bit of pressure overnight and a lube of the bolt to help it out), but best to excercise the right to a return/replacement/refund whilst we've still got some consumer protection cutting about 😅2 points -

I think it's fairly apparent that this answer is from someone who not English as their first language speaks. Not a criticism, but it's impossible to comply with contractual terms that can't be explained cogently by the people whose job it is to do that. What I'm not going to do is to ask a leading question about airsoft, since I want to avoid an answer of "Very sorry I am to be informing you that all gun soft airs firearm are prohibit most strictly."2 points -

Nothing wrong with using non-gun parts. I think of it as being resourceful. I have one gun which has a purple calpol syringe tube as part of the hop up - just happens to be the perfect size to feed bbs from an M4 mag. This fix is one that I'm most proud and ashamed of at the same time.2 points -

sounds like there's some bare wiring making contact somewhere, possibly against the gearbox shell? active brake will stop the motor based on when the mosfet isn't getting a connection, so whilst it should be reasonably predictable in normal semi-auto operation (as the col will trip at a predictable time), if it's in auto (which is the same as if it's getting a faulty contact signal) it'll just stop wherever it happens to be when the contact is broken.1 point -

I’d say no the problems with them not the gun , why I’ve always said Bollox there no good for scurmishing when I’ve ever come across this topic . My take on the argument has always been there’s no guns that can’t be scurmished , there’s just LOTS of players that cant scurmish with them ! I’ve seen players running 20🦑 springer shotties with just the one 25bb magazine and thoroughly enjoy the day !1 point -

Most site I've played at have used the front sight + rear sight + target rule, added with the A4 paper size rule, and no opening or closing windows. I played a site last year where i was crouched behind a small wall. A walk on then started poking his gun round the side and spraying (luckily nowhere near my general direction as i was tucked in). Only thing i could do was grab the barrel and pull the gun away. When he then came round the corner to find out what happened he had no idea i was there and walked into a knife kill1 point -

Aug's can make good DMR's. Why you would want to do that with a TM HC I have no idea. You have cost - A basic Aug can be had for about £100 new. The TM HC new is at least double that. There is no external difference in quality in a JG and a TM. All of the differences are in the gearbox. TM's are notorious for soft gears that will run forever stock with the slightly lower powered spring... If you stick a big spring in there it's going to eat the gearbox. As soon as you modify the TM HC it's no longer a TM HC, As the only thing that makes them special is the gearbox. For a basic AUG DMR you would want the JG/APS A1 or A2 variant with a full length barrel. Avoid the A3/A4 the ris is heavy and doesn't improve the gun. If you think you want some more rail space look at the APS with the added side rails. If you go with JG you can pretty much just do a spring swap and run on 11.1v to get it running. Perhaps a slightly harder hop rubber. If you go with APS then I'd advise swapping the piston head, Spring and hop rubber and run 11.1v To make it better from there you'll be looking at a motor and perhaps gearing it a little different to get some trigger response. To semi lock it you can do a few things. Tape over the secondary contacts is the fastest and least reliable way to do it, A basic rewire removing the secondary contacts is probably more appropriate and can be done in minutes with a pair of clippers, soldering iron, and some heat-shrink, without opening the gearbox. Inner barrel wise the full length AUG runs a 509mm barrel. So you'll be wanting to run a non ported cylinder and don't really need to mess with the barrel length. The hop is decent enough, been a stock rotary unit, and other than a degrease to make it a little stiffer the unit is solid and not prone to walking. Mags are generally good for the AUG with no real feeding problems even on the cheapest mags. There are loads of 120-170rns midcaps out there that can be had cheap like the battleaxe ones, MAG 170rnd mags are my favourite. https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/army-armament-ku901-steyr-aug-aeg?pv=8463 £109 for the base gun. The Army Armament aug is based on the APS design so it has a raised area on the stock where the textures are. It'll probably want the piston head changing as the APS head is awful with an injection point on the sealing face. Other than that it's a reasonable base gun. For the extras, Your probably looking at Mosfet £20, Head £5, Hop rubber £10, Spring £10. So £45 ish to get it up to DMR basic spec. Add another £40 for a motor in the future when you want more trigger response, but the APS motor should pull an M120 on 11.1v In all it's not a bad basic spec gun for £155ish. As for the DMR role, The Australian and Austrian army both use AUG's in DMR roles. The Australians use a modified A2 style the Austrians use the Hbar-T. To make the Rifle into a Hbar-T the lower hand guard mount can be swapped to a 3D printed lower rail. And a picatinny tripod added. Or you can look for a barrel mounted tripod. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Designated_marksman_rifle1 point

I've had as laugh... I've scratched my head... I even scratched an itch that I shouldn't have touched.... I see what you're saying but I believe the design doesn't warrant that behaviour.. I mean yes you cock it back so-to-speak when you chamber the first round and then let it do it's magic..... Interesting thought though.....1 point

Soooo what do we call it when some idiot sticks his head round a corner just as you pull the trigger ? I did that at a pistols and shotties game a couple of years ago. Peaked round a building just as a guy from the other team pulled the trigger, tri shot to the face at about 3 feet 🤣 Totally not his fault, he was aiming down the barrel at someone in another building . Blind peaking ? 😂😂1 point -

They've been back and forth on it a few times, and I'm sure they have purple-haired employees who will potato-screech and ban the face off of anyone flogging so much as a toy cap gun. However, at the moment, the UK prohibition is on "(j) ammunition, firearms, or certain firearm parts or accessories". They don't mention imitations or replicas, and airsoft guns (under 1.3J / 2.5J) are not firearms (for the purposes of the Firearms Act 1968). https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/ua/acceptableuse-full We could ask their CS goons, and it might be interesting to see how many different answers we get. I agree with not putting "Real replica imitation firearm shooter gun" on the invoice, but "Jing Gong G36C" or similar is specific without being overt and at least gives you some options. I'd rather have something on an invoice than no invoice at all.1 point

The reasoning behind this is down to the huge amount of variables involved. I always try to help where I can and never give any guarantees when I personally haven't installed the various part in the same gun from the same era. Dates are important as well since manufacturers change their products from batch to batch. It's a minefield. I don't know any tech who considers themselves an "expert", "competent with certain brands" is probably how they would describe their skills. Always something to go wrong or surprise you 🙂1 point -

Decided to put Airsoft on the back burner for a while and clear out some of my more esoteric rifles. I have gone full on AK/Russki Recently, so don't see these getting a look in anytime soon. ICS L85 SHS/Rocket Green Neo High torque motor Perun Mosfet Guarder clear bucking ZCI 450mm Inner barrel New Cutoff Lever and Selector Gear. Wired to Deans. In good condition, slight oxidation on the engraving. Used for 3 Skirmishes max. Gearbox has been nicely shimmed. This RIF was built for heavy weight ammo in mind. from .30 and over. As such it will overhop any bb weight under .30 (.28 is fine if you like a well hopped .28!) I would MUCH prefer collection from my house in Dagenham/London. I can travel to you within the London area as well. I may post at buyers expense (£16 via PF48) if I have enough packing material at the time, so just message me. Very firm on price. No haggling Ta. Acceptable rates of fire
John_W reacted to Jedi_Master for a topic
I think that the issue often encountered at a site is not necessarily the high rate of fire (yes, you HPA spammer) but the general poor attitude of overshooting. BBs are cheap so why shoot a few aimed shots when you can spam dozens of BBs down range, spray and pray fashion. There are definitely players who can see their BB strike the target but still keep shooting regardless, and they could be on a stag do, a site regular, a multi-glammer, chav, or experienced player who should know better. If you put enough plastic on someone they will eventually call the hit. Mainly playing CQB, high rate of fire is more noticeable due to the close proximity and limited distance between players. I prefer to just use heavy BBs and shoot less of them.1 point
