  2. It's very unlikely that it will ever be an issue for them, even though "for export" is not a defence. My real problem is that they either don't know, or don't care, what the law is. It's not a secret and it takes literally seconds to look up. And if they know and don't care, then it looks like they're thumbing their nose at it. I just hope they don't have any disgruntled customers out there who are aware, given that it only takes a few minutes to make a report to Crimestoppers, and that some forces have a rager for anything they can record as a Firearms offence. Recall the poor chap in Stirling who got an ARV response, arrest and prosecution because he posted images of his airsoft gun, in an airsoft Facebook group.

  3. But do they really care ?, stating it's going "abroad" is a perfect excuse & as airsoft rifs are generally free of serial numbers it would be ridiculously difficult for the judiciary to prove otherwise, & highly unlikely that they would ever attempt to anyway. in much the same way that most uk retailers have had no concerns about selling hot guns, & most players don't find this out until they get to a site chrono (or not😏), & returning them to the retailers usually results in another fee for "downgrading" ffs. its a bit like us here, new member comes on & first post is to ask about painting his two-tone black & any legal repercussions, being the fine lawful upstanding members of the airsoft community we are, we'll give him chapter & verse on why it's a big no-no, but the truth that we all know is that no one will ever know, & no one will ever ask, & the only possible way this could come to light is via a likely deadly confrontation between said player & armed police, the kind of lunacy that thankfully is rare as fuck, but also remains the biggest threat to the status quo of our sport. companies like eagle6 know this too, but they also know that yootoob videos are like money in the bank when it comes touting for business, so worth the potential risk. obviously I'm a cynical old Cnut πŸ™ŠπŸ™‰πŸ™ˆ

  4. It's a great question to ask, and much of airsoft development is the story of people who have been determined to try what's "not possible". However, on this one we're limited by physics. Air is mostly nitrogen, and (wizardry ahoy), nitrogen doesn't compress well compared to something spicy like propane. I believe that CO2 compresses even better, but I'm too scared to try it after seeing a mis-fitted CO2 bulb literally[*] rocket around a safe-zone. [*] In the literal sense of both literally, and rocket.

  7. note the lesson kids- us in the airsoft community get that 2-toning is a necessary evil to allow us to keep pewing, so when you turn up nobody is going to judge you if your g&g raider is bright blue, trust us it's not as bad as what some folks voluntarily do to their guns. unless you 2-tone something nice, then we're gonna judge you to be the heretic that you are.

  8. I'd have hoped to have seen better from a retailer as well known as Eagle 6. Especially when it comes to the flippant response to the comment. If they knew that the had produced it legally then why would you publicly mock a potential customer and put of other potential customers with that attitude and conduct. If they have produced it not knowing definitely that it is legal its extremely irresponsible for them to have posted the video on a public platform, considering that ignorance of law is not a defence and their lively hood as a business would be at stake.

  9. Yep, made in the UK means the law has been broken, plus do I necessarily believe their "disclaimer" that it's going overseas ?, probably not as surely given how overseas limits are generally considerably higher, would the buyers not expect the output to be closer to their limits ? Just saying πŸ€”

  14. for the case of the "standard" 2-tone is it that bad a loss? it is an interesting question, for example the aps uar being not a replica by dint of there being no gun (or gun-shaped prop) that it resembles. wasn't it you that used the "man on the clapham omnibus" example to point out it just needs to be realistic enough to fool joe public? kind of ironic that a cap&ball colt would be just as recognizable to joe public and yet is exempt being pre 1870.

  15. Joking aside though, why? Just why Coral? Sure, I bought a two toned plastic CYMA M4 off the buzz from my first day, but it cost Β£75, it was painted over, and the paint was off before my second day. Even if you just want it as a wall hangar, even if you can't persuade someone to sell you a RIF (more on that in a moment), why wouldn't you factor in getting it repainted. It's not even gangster to do so, because it's not an imitation of an actual make or model of modern firearm (whether existing or discontinued), so there's no VCRA offence committed by either sale or modification. I look at that horror and all I can think is "My God, someone please save it." Wait, was it... was it bought to troll people? Because if so, mission accomplished.

  16. Saw this advert wasn’t sure from the description if it was actually working or not so asked the seller and basically he’s replied with β€œwas told it was but if interested I can try getting it working again” SO he’s asking 60πŸ¦‘ under the new retail price for a bolloxed gun ! 😳 So yea thinks Mack’s is the appropriate place for this ?πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

  17. the "gas" in a gbb magazine is a mix of liquid and gas. when you fire the pressure drops, liquid portion starts boiling and the pressure raises back up, this is also why they tend to not like colder temperatures as the equilibrium pressure, and the rate of boiling will decrease. same reason why they don't like being fired quickly (where you're venting gas pressure faster than the boiling can top up) it's not perfect, but it approximately keeps the pressure the same (close enough for our purposes) as long as there's liquid left in the magazine. if your familiar with cheap gas lighters it's exactly the same principle (and you can even see the liquid portion decrease over time in the transparent ones). for hpa, this isn't the case, it's 100% gas, so to acheive a usable working volume it has to be compressed to much higher pressures then regulated down to the pressure you want to use. it's not really practical to build all this into a small enough package to fit inside a magazine hence using an external tank+regulator. there are systems out there, notably the daytonagun kits, that operate like a gbb only with the air feed going through the gun rather than the magazine so you run it with a standard hpa setup. afaik the WE p90 can also be made to work like that due to the way they worked around the top mounted magazine.

  19. I don't know the biro mod directly but I'd guess that it would refer to using the biro to pop the pins out of the connector block and swap them over. The issue with airsoft and rc is that they both use tamyia connectors but the position of the red and black pins are reversed in the airsoft batteries when compared to trafional rc, I have no adea why. If you can solder it's easier to sack of tamiya altogether for a better connector, deans are a common choice, I prefer xt style. If your not confident in doing that; use something thing to depress the pin retaining part inside the tamiya connector on the charger and swap the black and red around to match the airsoft battery, assuming you dont intend to use the tamiya charger for any other non airsoft batteries

Would be a good opportunity to convert all connections to Deans aka T-Connectors You can easily make a Mini-Tamiya to Deans adaptor if you still want to use the charger for RC as well.

  21. For mini-Tamiya connectors, yes. Standard/RC mini-Tamiya is positive/red to the square connector, negative/black to the round: Whereas airsoft mini-Tamiya is wired negative/black to square, and positive/red to round: Don't cross the streams wires! The best way to rewire mini-Tamiya is to cut it off, throw it as far away as you can and solder on Deans (or XT60 or XT30) on both ends. If you want to retain the mini-Tamiya and swap the wires over (on the charger connector!), you can extract them by pushing a small flat bladed screwdriver down each side of the connector, squishing in the tabs that hold it in place, then withdrawing the wire and pin. Bend the tabs back out slightly before re-insertion. I've just tested that theory myself, it's easy enough to do, no "biro hacks" or special tools required.

  22. Yep, as @concretesnailsaid, something went wrong with the prep of the bare metal so the first coat didn't adhere properly. You'll have to take it all off then rough up the surface with some heavy steel wool (you can get at the pound shop for cleaning pots & pans) or around 400 grit sandpaper. Then degrease the whole thing with Isopropyl alcohol or kitchen degreaser. A primer coat will ensure good results because that's what its for but you could try a thin layer of paint straight away and then test it to see if it stays. Oh and don't use Nuprol paint. Use car spray paints (Enamel)

  23. At first I was not confident but since getting some tips on here I've been practicing a lot on various scrap metal painted black, watched many instructional videos and I decided I'm even going to attend a military fair where I can see actual vintage firearms in person so I think I can do a decent job If a vintage sniper rifle could talk I think it would say "I want to show that I did not spend my life as a wallhanger"

  24. I wear almost all my airsoft toys to look used and more authentic (without going too far to hurt resale value too much) Having worked in a film studio props department obviously helped with the practice and guidance but youtube can provide a lot of information now. You just need something to practice on but its hard to really mess things up completely. As @rocketdogbertsaid, look for plenty of reference to know what to aim for. As a starting point, you can use steel wool (the ones from the pound shop for cleaning pots etc) Rub on metal parts to remove paint in areas that would naturally get worn. Start gently doing figure '8' all over and continue until satisfied with the result. (It will take about an hour to do a rifle depending how worn you want it and how much metal there is) Don't use sand-paper as its very difficult to be even. For wood. You can do a quick/easy method that's reversible or go full on to really make it look authentic. The easy one is to spray a THIN coat of matt black all over it and then rub most of it off with the same steel wool as before. Very gently in figure '8's again. (circles are not even) You should probably check youtube for the more involved method which involves staining and giving the wood some bashing as well. This is my CYMA M14 with plastic furniture. Light wear on the metal and the darkening effect on the 'wood'

  30. Dh mod is generally used in ghk platforms, where the outlet valve is replaced to hold the pressure of liquid CO2. The magazine can then be filled using something like a sodastream bottle. This is supposed to be 1. cost effective 2. usable all year round but can wear stock fcg, bolts, bolt stops fast. Has also been known to eventually blow you spring etc out the end of the buffer tube/ receiver extension!!

I guess most guns still come with mini-Tamaya because most batteries still come with mini-Tamiya, and most batteries still come with mini-Tamiya because... well, you see where this is going. Specna Arms (and I believe a few others) are now shipping their guns wired to with Deans, along with with a Deans to mini-Tamiya adaptor. Hopefully this will become more common.

My DuckDuckFoo doesn't turn it up, I'd guess it maybe refers to pushing the ink tube of a biro over the pin to squish the tabs. I tried that out of interest, and none of the pens I have to hand have any component that's suitably sized to do so. It's not needed anyway, you just need to push something flat down either side to squish the tabs: they're not going to spring back sufficiently to hold the pin in place. [UPDATE] Oh, it turns out that I've been testing this with full sized Tamiya rather than mini-Tamiya. If the pins are smaller in mini-Tamiya then a biro ink tube might be big enough to slide over them, although I doubt it. This shows how long it's been since I've even seen a Tamiya connector near the top of the leccy bits bucket, let alone used one.

  34. Depending on the paint and the material you might need a primer or adhesion promoter. The tearing sounds like the paint might have been too thick and has skinned, with the other dry but softer material under the skin. Prep is always the key to success with paint; clean old coating, key and degrease, primer/adhesion layer, paint in thin layers so it doesn't skin and prevent cure. I'd clean it all off and have another go, possibly change paints to something more recognised, krylon etc.

  35. If they're producing this for a foreign market I personally don't have a problem with it. To be honest I didn't post this to attack them but I was actually in shock that an established company would be so irresponsible. I thought someone might let me know that I'd wrongly assessed the situation and it wasn't so bad. Judging by their flippant response it honestly makes me question what other dodgy shit they get up to. I'd be happy for this thread to be deleted if that's the general consensus.

Yep, the AA-P01 is the exception to the rule of "you get what you pay for" (Which is why I have one as well πŸ˜‰) Its design is key to its performance since it doesn't have a floating barrel and only a tiny slide action.

    What have you made?

I was trying to buy smallest possible torch with integrated grip to use on pistols. I found one made by UTG but nowhere to buy anythere outside US. So I decided to make my own. The hardest part was to find smallest possible torch with instant on light and highest possible lumens. The one I got is a size of AA battery and has real output of 650 lumens. Not bad for such tiny EDC torch. Next step was easy with bit of help from thingiverse and my limited cad skills I manage to produce this it's tiny c.8x6cm!! tested on the game day and was better than expected perfect pistol torch with grip

    G608-4 low fps

First thing I'd do is to get some silicone lube (liquid or spray), take it apart, and put the lube up the nozzle and swish it around. Then I agree with checking the hob rubber while you let the lube sink in. Then blow the lube out of the nozzle with an auto burst (which should also get some on the nozzle o-ring if you have one) until it shoots clear and dry before re-assembling. Might help, might not, but it's quick and easy to try before stripping the gearbox.

Eh. You might be done after a motor swap, that's why I suggested that first. I've been pleasantly surprised by the boost in response and ROF just from dropping cheap Big Dragon M140s into my AEGs, without doing anything inside the gearboxes, or going to 11.1V. Still, having a stock backup is always a good idea, and there's certainly nothing wrong with shifting the Firehawk to the back of the bag.
