  4. Has been this way for a while. Blame Covid (or rather, the way its been handled). Turns out shutting the world down for inordinate open ended periods has repercussions. Next shyttshow; lack of HGV drivers. Supply problems for food and now fuel. Of course there's plenty to go round, but the Daily Mail are now whooping up the population into panic buying as they're convinced we are repeating the 1970s again. Worrying about lack of cheap airsoft guns in stock may be the least of our worries.

  9. Questions one person posed to my son who wants to jump right in to sniper role... How long have you been playing airsoft? How many are in your team that you are in? To which his responses showed he lacked both experience in the sport as well as lacking a team. In confidence a long time player and ex military guy said he lacks discipline and showed me footage which I was grateful for as he was confronted both by me and the guy with the evidence as far as some of his game play conduct not being compatible with the objective of the game in play. I'd say give a couple of years before you consider it and save up for the beast you want. As for which one, if you still insist on jumping in immediately, then the advice is to hire site rifles and see how it goes as you may find you spend £500 and wish you had bought other RIF's instead. Seen more than a few adverts for snipers that are hardly used for sale... Think about why that is.

  10. All packed and charged. A full weekend of airsoft ahead. Uniform, gnus, radios, two pairs of boots etc. Went to the supermarket and bought some pork pies and crisps, along with a modest 12 cans of ale, a decent bottle of scotch and some machine rolled Cuban cigars. Bought the lad 20 Buds and slab of Guinness. That this amount of booze is required for what is essentially a sporting event is amazing but essential. I think that the support gunner role is enhanced by slightly trembling hands. I will still be following my morning fitness routine though. Press-ups win prizes...

  11. The area around the safe zone is sparse and fairly open. Some of the site is as thick as Liz Truss. All depends on where you play there. A mate got lost in the scrub there last year and had to be rescued after a couple of hours. It's a big site...

    Who went to NAF21

I took my son to the NAF21 event this year. Did anyone else go? Some of the in-game objectives, brief cases, laptops, intelligence, suspect powder in packets, gold... If you went, what was your take on the event? --------------------------------------------------- IDK who the muppets were but getting an "Oh yeah" at 2 am in the morning is a *!$%£ take and after the 20th time asking in an evening, got old very quick. That was the one thing that let the event down the most, idiots, yeah, let off steam but on the course, not in camping where young kids and families were also camping, some people have go zero consideration, as long as they're having a good time, stuff everyone else.... and this was in the "QUIETER" camping. Other than that, well worth the money for the organisation of the game play.

  13. Thought I might as well do the, "hey I'm new" new post So.... I got dragged to an airsoft game two weeks ago by a friend.. Now, I have always been intrigued about what the fuss is about (Im ex mil) but never took the leap of faith.. In my head... (I'm 43) I was convinced I would turn up and be the only "old guy".. Honestly had no idea what to expect.. My friend turned up with kit.... and I mean a lot of KIT... I would be lying if at this point I was not somewhat intrigued and memories of a life past did not re appear... I had to be kitted out.. With the exception of some old combats and boots I had nothing.. after about 30 min of adjusting and fitting various items I looked like I was a member of Delta squad! I was ready... with my new (borrowed) Honey Badger we arrived at my first event, Anzio Camp and what an experience... (you would be happy to know I quickly found out that age is not a limiting factor). So what is the meaning of this rather dreary introduction.. I am hooked... What a great day, what great people enjoy this hobby and I want more..... So within two weeks, I have acquired a massive amount of kit including 3 weapons (Honey Badger, MTR16, JW3 Combat Master)... Booked my second game on the 2nd October and honestly cant wait.. Overkill I know.. So anybody in my local area... let me know Just need my son to turn 13 so I can drag him along..

  18. Me and my mate attended one of Saturday open days at Anzio last week (18/09), and it was a glorious day for airsoft weather-wise. Good opportunity for sneaky approaches and satisfying tactics. One dude pissed a lot of people off by being a power player, but aside from that and three pillocks with hot guns everything was smooth sailing. Surprisingly, FAO tries to to make games interesting by putting players out of their comfort zones and despite still being a typical skirmish day, it was good. Good flow, good timing, and decent player base. Nothing to complain, maybe aside from the day being too short. I’m starved for more, but can’t play until November 😏

  21. The answer is probably in their one other post that they are unable to message a seller. @Nubby Forums are intended to be areas for discussion with like minded individuals. Classifieds are an additional feature for the members of a forum. I don’t know what the underlying system rules are but would recommend using the forum, put up some posts. But if you’re just interested in shopping then the flippant answer is that you can go to retailers websites and shop there.

    Hot wiring

Hey guys, Thanks for the new replies. I have tested the motor all hooked up and only the motor got warm while not cycling the gearbox. I think i may have shimmed the bevel too tightly. I was following a negative airsoft vid on doing spur first and I didn't cater for the motor height. No nothing when idle, cheers for the tip though. I do have one but dont really know how to use it. It came with the soldering iron I bought lol I have bought a 25c battery to see if the higher c will keep the temps down. I think the wiring is already 16 awg, Sorry unsure about wiring too. The perun was pre-wired with low resistance wiring. The motor did have trouble going into the gearbox hence why I think I've shimmed the bevel incorrectly, I've already nicked the existing cabling which I discovered this morning so need to repair that to rule out shorting. I do intend to change to deans though as I've had endless connection issues with tamiya on all my guns so ill have a Deans swapping day at some point. Thanks guys, I'll keep updating after every change I make incase you guys think something I don't.

    Hot wiring

Just to rule it out- if you connect everything up but don't fire, is there any heating? Could be a wiring short, or wire rubbed through and touching on something rather than a mechanical problem?

  24. What he said. It's pretty typical woodland for the area, lots of pine trees but also lots of reasonably dense cover. Also their DMR limits are 400FPS and 30m MED so they're not THAT effective there, single only stops anyone from dominating an area with an LMG so there's that too. Works pretty well. I mean, yes, there's areas set out with man made barricades like this: but there's also wooded areas with plenty of undergrowth:

    Hot wiring

Asg 40k has enough torque to be called "high torque" but its also very fast and very power hungry. If you increase the wiring gauge/replace the tamiya with an actual connector it might only acheive letting it draw enough to kill the fuse/battery

    Lazy Dad Airsoft

I bought an "FMA Fast Helmet Upgraded Liner Kit L/XL - Black" from Socom a couple of months ago, they sent me the tan instead, so even a standard order is enough of a Mystery Box for me thank you. (I just needed it asap, so I ran with the tan anyhow, but sent them a courtesy e-mail to let them know so they can adjust their stock / warehouse system but they didn't bother to reply to me. I will not use them again.)

  37. With all the shit been going on in my life past 8mths I’ve definitely developed a “fuck it , if it makes you happy do it !” Attitude(I used to be quite take my time lets see how things go , but after loosing my oldest friend and having a bit of a near call my self I’ve realized you can’t count on tomorrow even happening let alone plans coming to fruition) SO t’other night whilst wandering aimlessly through Tinter’Web I came across a Cyma mosfet edition XM177 on Bullseye , now always had a bit of a crush on that particular AR so I bought it , and when I got in this afternoon it was sat there waiting for me ! 👍 Oh so much a happy chappy ! 😍

  38. Take a look at death rates in America. More people killed by Passive Smoking/second hand smoke than guns. The VCRA came about because Hazel Blears and the ACPO didn't like replica guns, and having failed to deal with "real" gun crime wanted a headline grabbing piece of legislation that made them look tough. And before the legislation, police forces were instructed to stop recording incidents where no weapon was fired or recovered as "unknown" and record them as "replica" instead...

  42. I tested a few more brands of bio BB recently. Same caveats with limitations in equipment & methods apply as before: Tokyo Marui 'Perfect Hit' Bio 0.20g: These are quite pricey at £6 for 1600. The .25s weren't in stock when I ordered these so I didn't get any to test, but those are way more expensive at £11 for only 1300 BBs! They come in a sealed, vacuum-packed bag with some silica gel thrown in to protect them from humidity. Unfortunately I found a few in the pack with some surface defects. They weren't very big or deep & probably aren't rough enough to cause any damage, but they would most likely affect performance. I tested 20 BBs that did not have any visible defects. Weight: All measured 0.20g Size range: 5.93 - 5.96mm; 18 were within tolerance Roundness: 6 measured 0.00mm variation, 14 measured with max variation of 0.01mm There was no sign of swelling after soaking in water. Easily the most consistent so far, and I didn't find any air bubbles, although not all of them were within the 5.95 +/- 0.01mm tolerance (however readings of 5.93 could be borderline 5.94). Just a shame about their high price and the QC fails with some of them. Ares Amoeba "Diamond Precision" / "Match Grade" Bio BBs 0.25g: Before even opening the bag I could see these were off to a great start: I found a number of other BBs in the pack with surface defects, most of those merely had one or more slightly dented and/or scratched surfaces but some were spectacularly bad - especially this one: (it's even worse than it looks here but my crappy phone camera can't capture it well enough) They almost look like they've already been fired once then picked up and repackaged. Using BBs with surface defects like these have will cause increased wear on the gun's hop rubber or may even damage it and/or cause jams. It's possible these were simply from a "bad batch", but IMO there's no excuse for any BBs with such glaring external defects as these to go unnoticed. The bag was "sealed", but it has some air holes punched into it so ingress of humidity and/or dust/dirt is likely and could result in magazines, hop units and/or barrels getting fouled with whatever the BBs have picked up in storage, transit etc. - I did find some particles of dust/general debris floating about inside the bag with the BBs. I picked out 20 to measure and made sure that they didn't have any visible surface defects. Weight: Typically 0.25g, 5 measured 0.26g Size range: 5.92 - 5.96mm; 11 were within tolerance Roundness: 11 measured with max variation of up to 0.01mm, 6 with 0.02mm, 2 with 0.03mm, 1 with 0.04mm I didn't bother soaking any of these in water In addition to the massive QC fails in the pack, the consistency of these isn't all that great either. I did not find air bubbles in any of the BBs I crushed open. G&G 'Competition Grade' Bio BBs 0.25g: These come in a fully sealed bag similar to the one the Tokyo Marui BBs come in (and also includes a pack of silica gel like Marui's BBs), except larger & not vacuum packed. On the back is information about the BB indicating that they are made from PLA, and claims about decomposition times in different environments. I shook the bag & checked for any BBs with obvious defects a few times after opening the pack and as I took BBs out to test as I did for the others but couldn't see any. Weight: All measured 0.25g Size range: 5.92 - 5.96mm; 12 were within tolerance Roundness: 10 measured with max variation of up to 0.01mm, 10 with 0.02mm There was no sign of swelling after soaking in water. These BBs are reasonably consistent in terms of roundness; unfortunately a fair few were outside of the specified 5.95 +/- 0.01mm tolerance and I found air bubbles of varying sizes in 8 of the 20 BBs I broke apart.

  43. Just to give a little data to this thread/topic and to see for myself if there is a significant difference in the behaviour of Bios in wet conditions or a difference between the behaviour of Bios versus Non-Bios, I put a small sample of whatever I had in the house into ziploc bags of water following my last post so these are figures based on the sample BBs being completely submerged in tap water for 18 days (it was night time so I'm counting only whole days). Following the submersion, I measured five BBs from each wet sample and five BBs from the original dry source bottle/bag. I don't have a massive selection and most of those are Bio so I don't have a great control group of non-bio BBs to select from. So, the hypothesis tested is that Biodegradable BBs swell out of spec on absorption of moisture. The attached table is a summary of the results and I think the conclusion I first draw is that there is no absorption or swelling of BBs after nearly 3 weeks underwater. The variation within samples appears greater than that between wet and dry in most cases. Also, I am pretty happy with my standard choice of Nuprol RZR 0.28g Bio 😉 There are obvious limitations to the test, primarily in that the sample sizes are small, I can't be fussed expanding the test but I'd be more than happy to applaud anyone who wanted to, I am happy to email the full data table with individual measurements, if anyone is that bored on lockdown. Another possible source of error is the measurement equipment, I used my general garage micrometer to do the measuring, it doesn't have a valid certificate of calibration and it has a stated precision of 0.01mm so the variation seen in most samples falls inside the possible error of the test equipment. Thirdly, this isn't a blind test, I knew what each sample was and so there may be subconscious bias but I doubt it. I really hope this lockdown ends soon, I clearly have too much time on my hands.

  44. i really wanted to lead this with a gif of trump denying global warming, but my google-fu has failed me. Bio bb's are generally fine, been using them on and off for years. you just need to be more mindfull of storage Dump them in a cold damp shed/garage you might get issues, keep them in the house warm and dry? then they will last (possibly not as long as the non bio ones, but at that point, why buy so many if its going to take so long to use them?). Any reliability issues they suffer are no different from the non bio bb's, you get good ones, bad ones and sometimes bad batches within the good ones, as mentioned with my experience with asg open blasters. When it comes to environmentally friendly, i doubt you have personally studied the rate to decomposition. Which is fair as thats anything between 2 to 4 years. my source? the back of a bag of G&G bios: having played with both bio and nonbio (one site i go to only allows bio) there is no performance difference i have seen. modern ones are definately not the bio bb's of old, which did have so many issues. i am always suprised when woodland sites dont insist on bios, there must be already a good layer made up of millions plastic balls on that ground and its only going to get thicker.
