Yes, you guessed it.. new guy! Derbyshire..
Cheeky vimto and 5 others reacted to SafferGuy for a topic
Thought I might as well do the, "hey I'm new" new post So.... I got dragged to an airsoft game two weeks ago by a friend.. Now, I have always been intrigued about what the fuss is about (Im ex mil) but never took the leap of faith.. In my head... (I'm 43) I was convinced I would turn up and be the only "old guy".. Honestly had no idea what to expect.. My friend turned up with kit.... and I mean a lot of KIT... I would be lying if at this point I was not somewhat intrigued and memories of a life past did not re appear... I had to be kitted out.. With the exception of some old combats and boots I had nothing.. after about 30 min of adjusting and fitting various items I looked like I was a member of Delta squad! I was ready... with my new (borrowed) Honey Badger we arrived at my first event, Anzio Camp and what an experience... (you would be happy to know I quickly found out that age is not a limiting factor). So what is the meaning of this rather dreary introduction.. I am hooked... What a great day, what great people enjoy this hobby and I want more..... So within two weeks, I have acquired a massive amount of kit including 3 weapons (Honey Badger, MTR16, JW3 Combat Master)... Booked my second game on the 2nd October and honestly cant wait.. Overkill I know.. So anybody in my local area... let me know Just need my son to turn 13 so I can drag him along..6 points -

Well I should say re-ordered as the first shop failed to tell me they were out of stock even though they took my monies! Should be here today/tomorrow!3 points

With all the shit been going on in my life past 8mths I’ve definitely developed a “fuck it , if it makes you happy do it !” Attitude(I used to be quite take my time lets see how things go , but after loosing my oldest friend and having a bit of a near call my self I’ve realized you can’t count on tomorrow even happening let alone plans coming to fruition) SO t’other night whilst wandering aimlessly through Tinter’Web I came across a Cyma mosfet edition XM177 on Bullseye , now always had a bit of a crush on that particular AR so I bought it , and when I got in this afternoon it was sat there waiting for me ! 👍 Oh so much a happy chappy ! 😍3 points -

You might be right as a number of items are marked as a 10~14 day lead time, Wouldn’t be surprised if TG and Gunfire have linked up with Daves and Patrolbase and once a week a van drives over from Poland, Rather than risk UPS, I work in logistics and that’s exactly what we do,it’s easier and safer to load one van to drive direct to the UK,then the driver picks up couple of loads enroute and touts around for something to take back to Poland.2 points -

So, I have a small pistol torch / laser combo that seems noticeably brighter than my larger torches even though it has a smaller collimator / reflector. It takes 2 x 16340 / RCR123A cells side-by-side, and I had a crazy thought: what if it's actually running the same LED chip as every other torch that takes a single 3.7V 18650, but driving it at 7.4V, and damn the consequences? And further, are 16340 cells close enough to half the length of a single 18650 that you can just drop two of them into an 18650 torch in series and over-drive it at double voltage? Well, it turns out that you can, that it's super, duper bright, that you really shouldn't look into it to see how bright, and that I hope to regian my vissoin by moarning.2 points

Had noticed this my self as well , AND you’ve got Patrolbase in bed with TG so me thinks due to zero kit coming in to the country and from that zero getting to the market place and both TG and GF no longer exporting to the UK they saw it as a way to circumvent the clusterfuck that is import duties at the present time ?1 point

Groot reacted to Stratton Oakmont for a topic
Whaaaaaaat! I don’t do milsims because I have no desire to pretend I’m in the military. (and while I’m moaning about milsims why would you spend all the money on an ngrs/systema for an event that would in every other way be aiming to reproduce realism. I would insist on gbb rifles as the standard to be aspiring to) I play airsoft complete with hicaps and a fun switch so woodland semi auto is something I may inflict upon myself but not across the board as I’ve played those games. what I find especially annoying is when it’s a pistol shotgun game but then someone complains and suddenly they can use their aeg rifle on semi only with a hicap and somehow that makes them equal to a revolver or a pump springer. rant over1 point -

Went to Bravo last year and while it was fantastically run, the games were shit tier. Aimed at a very new player with semi shot only, in woodland. WTF?1 point

Yup. That's covering the costs of either sending them back empty, or having ships sit idle while we find something, anything, that the Orient wants from us. It's actually surprising that they haven't gone up more already, but then again we were just kvetching about Dave's Custom Airsoft price gouging. We might want to brace for that becoming the new price point.1 point

Hi Mate, Welcome to the forum and the hobby! Your bank account will now obviously hate you. Seeing as you've gone twice, I'm sure you are already picking it up But if you do wanna do anymore research, just check the pinned topics in this forum category, create a topic and ask your question (that's what we are here for!) or if you fancy watching some videos aimed towards to new players, give @GAMBLE's channel a checkout: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCL-V_yVApaCpm096XBAQE1A/videos I'm sure there will be guys to take you under their wing, but if you are playing regularly at a certain site, just try and have a talk with the regulars, im sure they dont bite (unless you ask them too 😳)1 point

Low RPS / up and down telemetry.
paradoxum reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
Sounds like mesh/shimming might be a tad off? If your running 7.4v then 22rps does sound about right, my krink build has the same setup (12:1 standard warhead) and puts out 18rps although granted its being fed with nuprol batteries. The thing with the warheads isnt the top end speed but the pickup, so whilst auto might not be much to write home about the semi response is fantastic if you have a ton of precocking. Edit- just seen thats 11.1v, yeah defo check the shimming/pinion mesh1 point -
Well I finally decided to upgrade my case and get a wheeled nuprol one … seems pretty good 😊 👍 I also got another AW glock drum mag (so I can get sizes and 3d resin print the gear that’s missing in my original drum). Question anyone know what’s the extra pin is for in the box 🤷♂️ I also have a onetrigris pouch coming tomorrow 😎👍1 point

I was looking at that exact model yesterday, as I’ve just pissed my money away on something else I settled for the xm177 flash hider to change the look of my mws instead. just need an a1 style gbb pistol grip and I can hide the sopmod picatinney foreend under rail covers and that’ll have to suffice as I’m not buying another rif for a while.1 point -

Cannonfodder reacted to Tactical Pith Helmet for a topic
Electric blankets kill more people than firearms in the UK. A greater number of people still are killed by sexual contact with other peoples genitals. Licensing things on the basis of aggregate fatalities would see the owners of asbestos ceilinged buildings facing more stringent regimes than firearms owners. The 'it's more dangerous' argument can lead you anywhere the cherry picked stats can display fallacious justification for.1 point -
Need suggestion to select good airsoft sniper
Chicken pie reacted to Impulse for a topic
[Internally screams in HPA VSR build] I will also echo what has already been said, as someone who plays the sniper role all the time; sniping isn't what everyone thinks it is. In truth, it's a lot of doing nothing. It's a lot of lying in stinging nettles. It's a lot of trigger discipline, not taking shots at people either because they're within your MED or you don't have a clear shot and can't risk letting them know you're there. It's a lot of pistol kills. It's a lot of radio chatter. It's a lot of watching a stray leaf or mild breeze knock your shot off course. You can't take gunfights because you will lose to the 13 year old rental with an m4 and a high cap magazine. Every shot you will take has to be at people who don't know where you are, as if they know where you are they can literally dodge your shots at range and suppress you with full auto fire. At the end of the day, we're firing air powered muskets with projectiles that weight less than a gram. Also, depending on your site, a 2.3J bolt action rifle can be more of a hindrance than a help. I've totally moved away from using my 2.3J VSR at my local site at the moment because during the summer it gets super overgrown, so that 30m MED just hinders me with no benefit as there simply aren't long enough sight lines. Sniping is more of a role than a rifle, much like designated marksman is a role, not a rifle, we just use those terms as an easy way to differentiate power limits. I would call my HPA m21 a "sniper rifle" but it's kept at 1.1J like any AEG so I have no MED with it. You can fulfill the "sniper" role with an AEG for the most part, and if you're playing it properly having someone out of range isn't an issue because you just wait for them to take a few steps forward as they should have no idea you're watching them. I will always advise people play the sniper role with their AEG first (hypocritcally because my first RIF was a bolt action rifle) and see if they enjoy it before investing, as it's typically quite expensive. It's a very rewarding way to play, but it's a very different way to play. It's very much not for everyone.1 point -
In the interests of transparency, BigShow messaged me to have this thread removed. I declined as it is within your rights as members of an open forum to air your grievances and recommendations of retailers freely. After looking, it turns out the email address used for BigShow is Registered to an "ignite tactical" which seemed a little suspicious in how similarly named it was to the company he's defending. Sure enough, they appear to be sister companies: I'm seeing double here! This takes me back to the time when the dude from Cornwall was having a conversation with a secondary account that he also controlled to try and promote his airbrush painting company 😅1 point

Why can't it be both? Which of these (if any) are legally lethal barrelled firearms, which of them (if any) are actually lethal barrelled firearms, which of them (if any) are not firearms, and which of them (if any) are realistic imitation firearms? BANG, too late, you've already been killed. I've yet to see a persuasive argument or case law on why definitions from multiple separate, unrelated Acts are exclusionary. Note that the definitions added in Policing and Crime Act 2007 for airsoft guns not being firearms apply specifically and only to the Firearms Act 1968, not the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006. VCRA 2006 S38 says that a deactivated firearm is not a realistic imitation firearm, but does not otherwise define "firearm", even by reference to the Firearms Act 1968 - and BANG, you're dead again. 1000% agree, our entire body of firearms legislation is a Frankenstein's monster of cobbled together, ill-fitting parts that makes no sense and isn't fit for purpose. However, I fear that any comprehensive consolidation and re-write would be along the lines of "Nothing for nobody. Cope, peasants."1 point

Finally got something that had been on my list for quite a while now. And to boot, it's the gun of a deceased friend, which he had sold off prior to his death and which has now found its way to me on mysterious pathways 😌 Hephaestus HTS-14 Groza, 1st version, with the early full steel silencer and a Pilar scope (civil version of the military scope, that belongs on the Groza but is extremely hard to find), Just need different mount rings, these look aweful. My G&G RK74-E painted in Patrizan/SS Leto camo. My first attempt with rattle/spray cans. Used the Landscape-camo stencil kit. Unfortunately not an exact colour match to my chest rig. The tan/sand colour is a little too light but I'll dull it down and dirty it up to match and the green is slightly darker on the gun. But I'm happy with my first and only attempt at this sort of thing.1 point
