  1. in the continuing quest for a fog free day, I've made this. 2 20mm fans housed in a 3D printer enclosure. Slides onto the side of the glasses and blows air across the inside face of the lense. 3 speed settings controlled by the switch and all run off a usb power bank. First real trial will be this weekend.

  2. It's very much an aesthetic thing. Some folk like big thicc silencers, but I reckon that just makes it look like, well, a carbine with a silencer. I prefer some pokey-out length to make it clear that it's all barrel, baby. Something like this. Although I'm personally rocking a SA-E02 DMR with a short M933 style Fudd handguard and a 5" extension. It would look horrible to a purist, but, well, that's one reason to do it. Good shout, and holy heck, and AK2M4 actually has them in stock: https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/hop-up-chambers/zci-rotary-hopup-chamber-plastic-m4 Although I've never really been sold on the omega nubs anyway. I actually like the Specna Arms nub which is sort of omega, but front-to-back rather than side-to-side, in combination with a Maple Leaf macaron (if I remember correctly).

    80's 90's dump poutch?

80's we never had dump pouches, just stuck them back in the mag pouch, upside down so you didn't pull an empty one out instead of a full one. TBH when people talk about high speed low drag kit, 58' pattern was the complete opposite, high drag low speed with lots of clumsy fumbling in the dark 😱 Reminds me of a bird I used to go out with 🐷

  5. These stock shortages are great, honestly. It means I can easier resist the temptation to buy stuff before I've responsibly paid off debts from a rough part of my 20s, because lord knows there's stuff I want to buy... *gazes wistfully at google doc list of things I want to get*

  6. Potentially unpopular opinion, but have you considered HPA? V2 gearbox-based HPA engines are pretty common. As long as you get used to the tank and line, or come up with a way to mount a small tank to the rifle, the performance really can't be beaten in my opinion. Yes, it's expensive to build. Yes, you have to carry a tank, but the stupidly good consistency as well as the silence are just too good to pass up. Also, you can tune it to the exact power you need. I've done the conversion to one of my VSRs and will be converting one of my m14s once I clear my debts because I'm a complete HPA convert at this point. Outside of that, I'll echo the maple leaf rubber suggestions. I've got a ML macaron in my m14 and I can't fault it; it's otherwise a stock Cyma m14 shooting at 1J, but most people think it's some sort of 1.6J DMR with an MED because of how far it reaches out to and all I've done is shove a stainless steel prometheus barrel and a maple leaf macaron rubber in it.

  9. It's because people like the customisability and versatility of it. The amount of time and effort people put into making and sharing their own designs and products, most of the time for free is quite staggering! Plus it's a cheap £80-90 pistol that can quite easily (using readily available AA parts) be turned into essentially a DMR with full Auto capabilities. I know most people own more than one of them (me included) but you could use just the one pistol as a DMR in the morning, rebuild it into an SMG after lunch and then use it at a pistol by just whipping off (or just folding) the stock and use it as a secondary. I do understand your point totally, but why do we do any of it? Why do we mooch about in the woods or abandoned buildings shooting eachother? Because we can and because it's fun!

  11. Hi everyone, Been meaning to join up for ages and only just pulled the trigger (pun intended)... I'm from Birmingham and began playing in 2019 and was loving the fun then the dreaded C-19 thing happened to us all and put the brakes on. Just decided to look to get back up n running, any recommendations on sites that have survived in Birmingham and the surrounding area only got into CQB so far but want to do outdoors too. Thanks to anyone who replies, and maybe see you on the range? Regards K

  12. I missed 58 pattern webbing by a long margin, but on my combat infantryman course, down the front of the smock was the SOP taught as part of the training. While not as much as a ball ache as 58 pat it was still much quicker than getting mags back in a PLC pouch. No idea what the actual training manual said, but the front of smock method was RSM approved and everyone did it. Our CQMS used to carry a bunch of ‘off the books’ mags so if you did drop one (there were a few losses every exercise) you could still sign in your full compliment of mags so you didn’t get charged for the loss.

Yer I assumed that leaving mags behind was a big no no, I take it you used the draw string on the smock to keep them in.

    80's 90's dump poutch?

Was often called a ‘Brecon Re-load’ due to using this technique on the live fire range up at Sennybridge , you had to really speed through it and you just didn’t have time to try and cram the mags back in the pouches so you just lumped them down the front of your smock .👍

  22. It's all printed. I can't remember the thread exactly, I think it's something like 13/16th of an inch but you can find it online. You can get real steel buffer tubes for about a tenner off of AliExpress, cheapest place I found. When you draw it up you need to scale the threads up ever so slightly so that they don't bind up
    1 point
  23. I use real steel buffer tubes threaded into my printed components instead of AEG buffer tubes. That way you can print it all flat and not have to worry about that fracture point. It does make things a little bulkier though.

  24. My dad used a cut down tappet plate with an AEG air nozzle and hop up. You have to manually rack the air nozzle to load a BB then pull back the string and release to fire. I came up with a tappetless system to use the excess cylinder volume to move the nozzle so you didn't have to do it manually but we haven't implemented that yet.

  29. This is very nieche, and is sought out by the few who may use one, but will be a very expensive and very limited ‘weapon’ in a game. Anybody using one in game is going to be shot a lot more than they are going to hit anyone. There was the AirRow now a few years back and was sold for a very short time. Existing ones are closely held by those who own them and I’ve seen a few that have considered selling but quickly fall through as they won’t let it go The AirRow was primarily sold for paintball but had airsoft and lead pellet versions, and was approx £500 complete with bow or about half that for the fittings excluding bow, but as in the thread below someone bought just the kit thinking they would get a ‘better’ bow for the money, but spent the same overall for an equivalent and the shop staff spent hours getting it all set up together Someone who’s experienced and has an existing bow would find it easier https://p8ntballer-forums.com/threads/thinking-of-getting-an-airow-gun.158448/

  32. Some sort of assault rifle is generally advisable as a starting gun for the same reasons they're used by the majority of soldiers in the real world: they're a jack of all trades weapon that does everything sort of well but doesn't particularly excel at anything. However, I don't think getting an m4 as a starter gun is necessary and AKs, SCARs, g36s, L85s etc. are plentiful and just as good in airsoft. I'm always an advocate of getting the gun you like aesthetically; find one you like and then find a manufacturer who makes it well; I'm a big fan of Cyma, as they do a large selection of guns and they're generally fantastic out of the box, especially for the price. I've had an AK, mp5 and 2 m14s from Cyma and every single one of them have been great guns. On that though, also think about how you like to play, so I'd generally advise renting for 3 games to get your UKARA before buying. Renting will allow you to experiment with different ways of playing and then make a more informed decision when you purchase. Want to play high speed and aggressive? Maybe an SMG like an mp5 or p90 is for you. Unlike in real-steel shooting, barrel length and calibre don't really matter; a stubby mp5 will perform just as well as an m4 or AK.

  33. You're right that it is most likely the selector plate that is causing the non function, but having stripped it down he can now see that the piston and head have seen better days and that the gears have been rubbing together. Now he can fix the selector plate AND improve the rest of the performance.
    1 point
  34. Then dont get an M4, these days there is a massive variety out there you are no longer just limited to ar or ak pattern rifles. Cyma make g3s, galils, mp5s, m14s, g36 and p90s. There are loads of scar, f2000, l85, tar 21, masadas, famas and umps out there too and thats just from looking at 3 manufacturers.

    The AAP-01 Owners Thread.

100% agreed with Leadly. What's different spending money on one of these to use as a primary compared to a hicapa build, buying a TM MWS or other gas rifle, upgrading your existing AEG, etc, etc. A lot of those are great out of the box and don't necessarily need to be touched. There are many aspects of this hobby that you can easily not spend money on, but if people want to they'll spend it.

    Need help building DMR

Too vague a question with not enough information. what do you want to do? are you wanting a true DMR locked to semi with higher FPS? or do you just wat a bit more range. also you really don't want to start upgrading and go down the DMR route with out a back up gun. i would use the search function there are a lot of posts about DMRs read and figure out what you wat the gun to do.

  39. My dad used a compound bow for his so that the draw is the same each time. He's set it up to fire at basr power levels but you could change it to cqb friendly levels by swapping to a lower volume cylinder or adjusting the cams to reduce the draw. He did the maths and even this cheap kid's bow he used is capable of in excess of 9J so he volumed it to be safe for airsoft and used the excess cylinder volume to feed the air back to behind the grip to keep the length down. He also made a buffer system in the front of the cylinder to stop it from tearing itself apart.

    THE TM MWS thread

Holy Jesus, just finished reading the full 216 pages 😂 Here's my newish MWS - started life as a 14 inch M4A1, but just swapped out the barrel for the 10.3. I'd originally planned for it to be a project gun, with my GHK MK18 remaining my primary, but it's just so good I think the TM has usurped the GHK! The plan will be an L119A1/C8 CQB inspired build, so if anyone has any suggestions or advice I'm all ears. I'll be keeping the internal stock (except the SixG nub which is already in there).

  43. I bought some more Geoffs bio BBs, this time in 0.28g. These are 'Super Natural Precision' in white and black and 'Natural Precision' tracer BBs (they don't do tracer versions of the former - I'm not entirely sure what the difference is supposed to be between 'Super Natural Precision' and 'Natural Precision' as it doesn't seem to be stated anywhere; both are supposed to be 5.95 +/- 0.01mm). The packaging for these is just like the 0.25g BBs I bought before - self-seal bags with air holes punched into them near the top (I only bought small bags of the black & tracer version). They all looked fine except for a single tracer BB that had some kind of scuff mark on it. Of these three, only the white ones seem decent enough - about on par with the 0.25g version I tested before. The black and tracer versions seem like they're best avoided. Geoffs 'Super Natural Precision' 0.28g Bio BBs: Weight: All measured 0.28g except for one measuring 0.29g. Like the 0.25g version these seem to lean towards the heavier side. Size range: 5.93 - 5.96mm; 4 measured within the 5.95 +/- 0.01mm tolerance, the rest were 5.93mm minimum Roundness: 1 measured 0mm variation all around, 9 measured with max variation up to 0.01mm, 8 with 0.02mm, 2 with 0.03mm These are pretty similar to the 0.25g version, generally not being within the specified 5.95 +/- 0.01mm range (trending towards the smaller side). They're a little softer than their 0.25g counterparts but more difficult to break apart as they had a tendency to flatten out & I had to twist them apart after initially splitting them. I didn't see any signs of air bubbles. Geoffs 'Super Natural Precision' 0.28g Bio BBs (black): Weight: All measured 0.28g, again seeming to trend more towards the heavier side. Size range: 5.92 - 5.97mm; 15 measured within the 5.95 +/- 0.01mm tolerance. 3 were 5.93mm minimum, 1 was 5.92mm minimum, 1 was 5.96mm minimum (and that one had an upper measurement of 5.97mm) Roundness: 13 measured 0.01mm variation all around, 6 measured with max variation up to 0.02mm, 1 with 0.03mm These have similar consistency to the white BBs but with a larger size range (although this could just be down to the small sample sizes). However they are also much softer and easier to break apart than the white version so it would probably be best not to use these in midcap mags or GBBRs, as their softness will make them prone to getting deformed/flattened or chewed up. In addition to this I found an air bubble in one of the 20 BBs I broke apart. Geoffs 'Natural Precision' 0.28g Bio BBs (tracer): Weight: All measured 0.28g except for one weighing 0.29g. Size range: 5.87 - 5.95mm; None measured within the 5.95 +/- 0.01mm tolerance. 1 was 5.87mm minimum, 3 were 5.88mm minimum, 4 were 5.89mm minimum, 6 were 5.90mm minimum, 5 were 5.91mm minimum, 1 was 5.92mm minimum Roundness: 6 measured 0.02mm variation all around, 7 measured with max variation up to 0.03mm, 4 with 0.04mm, 3 with 0.05mm Surprisingly these are far less consistent than the others, and a fair bit undersized. Despite their smaller size they're still around 0.28g though, even leaning towards the heavier side. These are about as soft as the black ones but a lot more brittle; it didn't take much force to crack them open and they readily split into multiple fragments. I really wouldn't recommend trying to use these in midcap mags or GBBRs (or at all; loading a few into my HK416A5 AEG resulted in some double feeds/misfeeds and pre-shattered rounds exiting the barrel on firing). On the plus side I didn't find any air bubbles in the ones I broke apart.

    Border Force Seizure

I’m definitely in the “both sides are trying to screw us over” camp . on the one side you have the U.K. Gov(and I don’t care wether it’s the tories or Labour in power they both would pull the same stunt) seeing a new ATM has opened up and they don’t need a card or an account to draw as much money as they want out of it , then on the other side you’ve got the EU who are desperately trying everything they can to stop Brexit having any kind of success no matter how large or small it may be simply because they know if there is any benefit out of it for the U.K. then their whole house of cards will come crashing down and the dream of one super state ruled by France and Germany is dead in the water . having spoken to a few different European nationals over the past year or so about it who’ve said how much they want Brexit to work so their own countries can do the same and get out I really do believe this is the EU’s controlling powers game plan .

  47. I agree with this which is why the whole G&G ssg1 thing was so stupid, I'm fine with the banning of panel triggers as they are literally designed to be abused but at the end of the day people were getting in an uproar about and ar with a funny stock. The flak series is however different as they break a fundamental rule of most sites if not the game by design, they over shoot. I take 3 round burst at 30m fair enough, i take a tripple hit from a 260 fps tri shot up close fair play but if i get hosed with 10bbs at 350fps each at 10m then I'm going to be pissed as that meets the very definition of overshooting.
