    THE TM MWS thread

Finally a paid up member of the fine MWS club! This beauty arrived today, and now the real fun begins, turning this CQBR into a URGI style 10.3" build!

  2. I am new to airsoft and have been introduced to it by my son. To get me going I bought a cheap tactical vest as in the picture, but after wearing it a couple of times, I don't think it looks as good as many of the loadouts other guys are rocking. I don't see the need to be carrying around tons of unnecessary kit for the sake of looking "warry" at this stage, enough space to hold a few mags and grenades, but at the same time I want to look good. So, do I go for a chest rig or a plate carrier? And what ones would you recommend? Ideally something that will go with the MTP camo, British DPM and also for the US contractor look in the summer. Cheers.

  3. How about this beauty, a thermal rifle scope...pretty cool eh? Asking £500 plus fees and post. Reasonable if it has been cared for... ...then you see the single bolt holding it in the mount. It also looks like a 25mm mount holding a 30mm scope body 🤣😱🤷‍♂️🤮

  10. This has been a bugbear/argument of mine probably for 19 of the 20 years I've been playing, my first year I felt the need for all the kit, soon realised that actually most is unnecessary, especially wrapping yourself in layers of all covering tactical nylon, & ditched most of it. Back then I was a lot fitter, but still found myself dripping before the safety briefing finished, & even now you look around the average safezone & there'll be some guys who aren't at their peak, maybe overweight, mature in years, generally unhealthy, or maybe a combination of all of the above, but their loaded up like their off to war for the next few weeks, not bimbling around a few a acres of land for the next 40 minutes. & While their carrying everything bar the kitchen sink, the one thing their often lacking is fluids, "cos waters heavy innit" ffs. I've seen loads drop mid game because of this mindset, & im surprised there's been no fatalities in the summer months (that I'm aware of ?)

  12. Now that my ghillie is complete, I've finally fully done what will be my primary loadout (above my M14 loadout I posted previously, which is my secondary if I need the semi-auto ROF). I love this loadout because it's super lightweight. The ghillie, as you can see, is built on a mesh base that only covers my back, allowing it to be breathable. Outside that all I'm carrying is the belt kit and the VSR, both of which are lightweight. In total, all I carry around are the VSR, ghillie suit, belt kit including P226, 4 spare pistol mags, 3 spare VSR mags, 1 spare CO2 bulb, water canteen (full). Usually wear this over a simple OD shirt and pair of trousers (because I like the PMC look, so no camo patterns!)

  15. I use a chest rig and belt set up personally. But I like to keep things as simple and low profile as possible. But its all down to personal choice, you will get varying responses from different people and hopefully explaining why we use these set ups, however you need to find what works for YOU. Airsoft is a personal games, the only thing you need to have is eye pro, and even then there are more choices than you can shake a stick at. This is why experienced players tend to have enough spare kit to fill the boot of a car as we buy stuff we think we need or want to realise its not quite right and get another option, and repeat and repeat etc I have tried a large chest rig with loads of room for gear, a plate carrier and a belt only set up and after 3/4 years finally found what I think is the best set up for how I play and what I use. Which is the Viper vx buckle up rig https://ukmcpro.co.uk/products/viper-vx-buckle-up-utility-rig It takes 6 smg mags and 2 pistol mags (but is modular for any set up) sits square in the middle of my chest and doesnt catch on scrub, trees or my sling. Cheap too (my plate carrier cost me over £100 and was used once ) I dont like the feel of a plate carrier, I find it restricting, also I was tempted to fill it with unnecessary pouches and kit. Like you I tend not to carry uneeded gear. I for one do not see the point in carrying gear which you dont use just for a look as you end up with extra stuff you need to lug around, might get caught on bushes etc and costs money. But thats just me. To be fair any set up could look good in your eyes, I would have a look next time your on site and see something someone else is using and ask questions about it. Military 1st is a great website, they have plenty of chest rig options avilable, good service too. Have a browse. Get a camo which works for your loadout, looking at what yoiu have a multicam, tan or olive rig would work and be multifunctional too.

  18. Bought a while ago but took a while to arrive. 1911 compensator. Took some fairly heavy modification to fit as the threads were not what it said in the listing. Im using it to hide the end of a 150mm tightbore.

  23. Standard CM16, photo taken last year. Loved it from the get go (1st airsoft rifle after many years of wait) but holy hell has it had its problems with the barrel constantly falling off, accuracy being wild and now the hop ups buggered. Still love it to bits.

  27. I mean it's cool and practical to roll the sleeves either to the elbow or at least partially when it's hot vs cinching them closed around the wrist, way more air flow. The look of not-collapsed-on-the-floor is the one I'd recommend though. It just always sticks in my head that almost bob on 2 years ago from today I was at a small site with temperatures much like they are now (peaking over 30) and 2 guys turned up in all black gear with PCs, then I'm pretty sure they drank either nothing or coffee/energy drinks and both feinted in the safe zone shortly before lunch. I was there in a super thin MC combat shirt (i.e. light colours) with a small chest rig and thin coverings all over much to protect myself from the sun, still sweating lots but drinking loads of water, the occasional bite of a cereal bar, felt warm but fine. Not saying this is anyone here but it was an eye opener to how unaware folks sometimes is when it comes to being out in climates they're not usually in.

  28. Just bought a Cyma CM045 AKS-74U with wood furniture and canvas sling I had the tactical one and it was a beast of a gun (especially with a few upgrades!) and I regret selling it. It easily shot TF guys at the top of the Copehill Down tower (sHoRt bArElLs cAn"T sHoOt fAr dErRp....) and was the best CQB I have used ergonomics wise (don't let my MP7A2 hear that!) Plan is to turn this into a weathered AK as you might find leaning against a shack wall in Afghanistan, but make the performance a little better Internally I have a Gate NanoHARD, G&G Green rubber and some gearbox shims to add, it will be running off a 11.1v LiPo and using steel 125rd mags. The ultimate sleeper gun / bad guy loadout / loaner / backup to my GBBs Next purchase will be ANOTHER gun case 🤪

Agree, for me airsoft is based upon military combat simulation, daft dsg builds have no real world relevance 🙁
