To be fair on the AI team, not only are they incapable of running events, they've got a longstanding reputation of being cheating feckers when they attend skirmishes themselves, which I've witnessed first hand, hardly inspires confidence in anything they get involved. 😏 & don't get me started on their inability to use a spellchecker 🤣2 points -

Importing Airsoft gun (IF) into UK
Rogerborg reacted to Chev Chelios for a topic
You want to check Non-standard baggage T&Cs and find the helpline. In my experience they will just treat any gun shaped objects like a real firearm and you will just have to go to the red point telephone before/after/during your departure and arrival. "Two Tone" is not a thing, they can argue its not "over 51%" (technically just changing the slide colour will not make the rep an "IF") and the last thing you want is to end up having to go off for examination. I would pick one of the acceptable colours and cover as much of the replica as possible. Thinking about it also take the valves out the mags as they can get iffy about pressurized containers they do not have the specs for on hand. "Weapons designed or adapted to discharge other missiles including airsoft darts are not considered to be airsoft weapons. They are considered to be firearms." This should only really count for things that utilise moscarts but its worth adding a declaration to the paperwork making them aware it does not fall into this category. Would be interested to see what Airline you go with and how you get on.1 point -

Every review I think I've ever seen of multiple ai500 games has been along the lines of "this was shit and there were way too many people for the size of the site". I think I've read 1 review about a game at lydd that was good, but that was best part of 6-8 years ago. I haven't attended, I could be wrong but before anyone signed up to it I'd really encourage people search for reviews. If you want to do a big event, try one of the companies that do more than 1 event a year. At least with something like the national airsoft festival you know what you're getting. They aren't used to running events, they aren't used to running even skirmishes at the sites they use and they've run multiple big number events that seem to flop every time. Good events come from an organiser having a good team, good rules, good sites and knowing how to make games flow, which it seems (based on previous reviews)that Ai can't do any of those things. Every time I hear about one of their events going to shit it just feels like common profittering and for a sport based on honour just seems wrong.1 point -

MW2 2022

I wouldn't say squeeze exactly they made untold millions from kids buying skins in WZ1 haha. You might be right on the pass, but then again they'd get a *lot* of new pass subscribers if it was included.. we shall see, could go either way. For me the SP got worse and worse each time through the original modern warfare trilogy, and the old and bitter part of me thinks they'll make the same mistakes again. Possibly forget about the super popular but slow CQB and child insurgent levels from MW2019 in favour of absurd, un-immersive enormous action pieces that only appeal to 13 year-olds. Fingers crossed though.1 point -

Last game that pleasantly surprised you? (Or not)
TheFull9 reacted to BigBell1987 for a topic
Alien Isolation is brilliant, I'm late to the party on it, it's very nerve racking and very true to the movies with a good story where you play as Ripley's daughter searching for her and it's actually quite long and meaty. It's more survival horror than a shooter, lots of hiding/cowering, you get guns but using them attracts the Alien and flame thrower ammo is rare so your best sneaking around obstacles. Humans for pretty easy with a wrench to the head, Android and Aliens not so much. My preferred online shooter at the minute (don't have a pc) is Hell Let Loose. WW2 FPS. Really fun game. A team is made up of one Commander who pretty much orchestrates the plan as a whole, he has various command abilities such as drop in supplies, tanks, order airstrikes and more. Supplies are needed to build resources which increase his points to spend on such things as well as for engineers to build defences such as sandbags, barb wire, bunkers and more. Commander has radio Comms to speak to squad leaders aka officers. Squads are made up of an officer who has direct Comms with the commander and relays information between his squad and command, they have binoculars to scout around and mark objectives and the ability to build outposts and garrisons. Outposts are spawn points for a particular squad, garrisons are spawn points for every squad but need supplies to be built. The rest of a squad is made up of 5 other players who can choose between infantry, Anti tank, engineer, machine gunner, assault as far as I can remember, each has their own set of skills and most are restricted to one per squad. You also have armoured squads for tanks which are made up of an officer and two drivers or is it 3 drivers, basically a spotter, driver and gunner. Recon squads are made up of a spotter/officer and a sniper, I think there's 2 per team. The game is generally a capture a sector game, sometimes both teams are fighting to own all sectors and others you are either defending or attacking. This is a very basic summary, if you like the sound of it watch some YouTube and invest it's great, especially you PC guys who can run servers and such, can be hit and miss on console as it's matchmaking and all depends on the quality of commander and Comms between squads but the pc communities have some well organised teams. I'm currently playing a story driven game, almost an interactive movie called "As Dusk Falls" which is also very good, it's a gritty story whereby two families lives entangle through a robbery gone wrong, you make choices for both families which continue to have effects across a couple of generations as the children grow up to live with their parents choices and make some of their own. You can play it multiple ways lots of repeatability, characters are deep and the choices can be quite gnarly sometimes. Hope you try them and enjoy them!1 point -

Do you know which trigger unit it has? If it is the micro switch type the it be worth running the gear box outside if the rif and manually operating the selector plate. I had a build recently where the selector plate had warped slightly and would not put enough pressure on the switch to activate, similar symptoms to you, the same function in both possible positions.1 point -
I've done some experimenting with different types of lubrication on my VFC PSG1 (Which, like it's real steel counterpart, is basically a heavily modifed G3) to find out what would work best, and this is the results. Same might be true for other platforms aswell. -Charging Handle- Test: 25 Cycles •PTFE Grease works great but I've found that you need to use more than you should have to. •Ceramic Grease works great too, but it makes the whole thing look strange as this is a visible part and the grease is completely white. •Silicone Grease doesn't last quite as long as the other two but very little goes very far, it is also the cheapest. Winner: Silicone Grease -Bolt Carrier- Test: 50 shots Note: All tests were performed without a magazine as the magazine itself gives resistance from the nozzle passing over the gas seal. •PTFE Grease works very well and gives a smooth cycle. very very slight metal on metal noise. No gritty feel. •Ceramic Grease works exceptionally well in my case. No metal on metal noise or gritty feel. •Silicone Grease works great to begin with, however I found it is not as smooth as the other two when used on the bolt carrier. It has a slight noise similar to the PTFE Grease and has no gritty feel, however it feels slightly "sticky". Winner: Ceramic Grease -Trigger Assembly- Test: 50 Pulls •All types of grease perform about the same. Ceramic Grease lasts the longest but performs about the same as the others. Conclusion: Instead of a conclusion, here is an important part. Not Too Much! I did this mistake many times thinking it would last longer. Remember what grease is meant to be when the application is metal sliding against metal. A thin, protective film, and not a pile smeared on like you would find in a gear assembly. Just like with a real firearm, overlubrication will make your gun feel gritty and/or sticky and possibly even cause failure if taken to the extreme.1 point

I have done this on both sides of the camera. I have the perfect face for modelling work with a mask on The ideal location is on a site, but even that can get people calling in about suspicious activity when the site is normally closed. A remote location always becomes the most occupied public area as soon as you begin to do anything. It won’t hurt to let the local police know what you are doing, and to put up some signs. If you really are satisfied that it’s out of the way enough, that you will be quick and unobtrusive then you can just go ahead. Never seen one being used by site staff either in all the times I've been there. It's the only site I've never been chrono'd at. Ironically - GZ Urban at Sopley used to be super hot on chronoing - with a strict 328fps (1j) limit. That was fun when every retailer (including Z1) was aiming to kick their guns out at around the 340-350fps mark for woodland use and QD gearboxes were not a 'thing' yet. I saw guys rock up with brand new Combat Machines etc bought from Z1 themselves just a couple days before, unable to use them on the Urban site as they were 10-15fps too hot. Good times.1 point -

B&T MP5 issue with feeding
Bobbybrown reacted to colinjallen for a topic
That would explain it! That piece pushes the tappet plate back, allowing a BB to feed. It is indeed the sector gear, but you would probably be best advised to buy a whole new 16:1 gearset from someone like AK2M4 (allegedly, other purveyors of airsoft bits and pieces do exist), along with a delayer chip to ensure that the tappet plate stays back long enough. Whatever you do, you are going to have to do some shimming to ensure that the gears are spaced properly. There are some very good guides to this online.1 point -
I never played MW2 that much back in the day because it used matchmaking instead of people having privately owned dedicated servers that you browsed in a server browser like CoD4 had (this is all on PC, never been much of a console pleb). I saw matchmaking as a cancer in online gaming that eroded any sense of community and I still do; privately owned dedicated servers were the way to go and you would always go back to the same ones, so you'd know all the regulars and there was generally just an amazing sense of community, but matchmaking is just a cheap one and done. As such, I won't be getting it. I didn't even get CoD4 remastered (where I preferred both the single and multiplayer), because if I wanted to play it I'd just play the original, but where most people view MW2 with rose-tinted nostalgia goggles, I actually view it as the beginning of the end of good online PC gaming, because after MW2 it felt like every PC game decided to go with matchmaking instead and yes, I'm salty about that. Oh, also Activision-Blizzard are scum. Not giving them any money.1 point

Sounds a bit like last year, honestly. Our group weren't there this time to bolster numbers on green team (I think we brought about 30 last year) because it fell on a Worthing game day, but I do remember that a lot of greens left early last year because of the abysmal weather. Having 50 less players is a massive disadvantage that I experienced first hand last year, so it's a shame to hear they made no effort to balance the teams a bit. I'm sure there were small groups of tans who would've been willing to swap over to green team and it would've made the game far better. Getting locked in the spawn also sounds a lot like last year for the same reason. You'd think they would've sorted that; honestly, the site isn't good for 400 players, but they need the money from ticket sales. Just a bit of a mess really... You're totally right here. Voluntary chrono is pointless because you'll get people like me going up to chrono to make sure I'm at the right power and prove that my m21 or VSR is running at 1.1J for no MED (because 1.48J is a joke for DMRs and bolties), but all the people who are intending on running hot guns, will just not chrono. It's common sense; people breaking the rules aren't going to voluntarily rock up and say "hey, by the way I'm cheating and playing dangerously" This had me questioning it last year as well. I fully agreed with the decision to limit bangs to mk4s and below because not everyone had a set of hearing protection (and normal ear plugs are basically "I'm a free stealth kill") or could afford to invest in a set of Earmors or something just before the game, then when I saw the shop selling mk5s I was annoyed. When I heard that they were "mk5s with a mk4 bang" I knew they were lying back then and it's clear they were lying again this year. Also, people weren't following that rule anyway as one of my friends had a thermobaric posted blindly around a corner right into his chest, where it exploded just after impacting. Again, this makes me sigh... I had this happen last year to me when I was using my m21. I got pulled aside by a marshall who told me I wasn't allowed to use it because it was a "sniper rifle", while it's just an m14 with a scope and a rifle wrap (and running at 1.1J). I was also told by another marshall "oh, you can't use that indoors" when it was no more powerful than anyone else's m4. Now, I let that one slide because I didn't really go indoors and instead held angles outside, but I run my m21 at 1.1J for a reason; to use it in any situation I need it in. Had to clear it up with one of the head marshalls who said it was fine after I explained it all to him, but it was a situation that shouldn't have happened in the first place. Thanks for the write up @wicksy101 though it's sad to hear that it was another shitshow. Even though I wasn't there, I was hoping they'd take the lessons from last time and learn from them. Roll on next AI500 at a different venue, because that venue is not good for 400 players. Might get away with 300, but I think 200 (100 per side) would be far better, though it probably wouldn't be financially viable.1 point

So.... AI500 2022... After last years questionable weekend i really thought that some things would have been sorted out... Some of them were, others not so much... Let me start off by saying that there was some really good gameplay from both teams. I was on the green team and despite being outnumbered, most of the team were pushing any trying their best to make the most of a shit situation... Now... onto the nitty gritty. If you have seen any of the posts regarding last year, there were a few main points that came out of them. They mostly mentioned lack of marshalling, complete lack of chrono, poor organisation and communication and less than ideal bottlenecks. Some of these were addressed to an extent but i don't think any of these issues were truly sorted. GENERAL BITS The weekend was off to a questionable start when we realised how many people the other team had compared to us. I think they had over 50 more players after no-shows ect. I really don't know how they can let this happen with an online booking system. Surely they can ask people to move over before the event has started. We were held in our spawn quite a lot over the first day. When asking a marshal on day 2 if they would make anybody move over his response was 'we have'. I kid you not, they got about 5 people over and called it a day 🤣 We didn't see the second half of the field at all until the second day at 12pm when they finally decided we were getting fucked so hard they would let us start pretty much at their spawn. Well this was great to see that half of the site but it was too little too late unfortunately and we were back in our spawn within about 40 minutes. I have no idea how they could just watch us sit in the spawn for so long and not think about changing things up sooner. We were pissed off as we could make no progress and im sure the tans were fairly bored sitting around doing not much (Im sure some of them enjoyed the £90 interactive shooting range though) They made a good attempt this year to avoid the bottlenecks of last year and put up some temp barriers and also covered the sports-field in tarp. This made movement much better than last year. It's worth me mentioning that there was a hole in the floor in one of the buildings. Tape had been put up on either side but nothing was mentioned in the brief including the fact that you cannot shoot down the hallway through the tape (nothing was there to indicate hard cover) CHRONO Let's start off by taking a look at the chrono (if you can call it that). I can only assume after some moaning last year about not having one, they thought they should really be doing a chrono this year. Welp, doing a voluntary chrono is certainly not the play they should have made here, they may as-well have not had one. Saying that, at least there were no 8mm BBs flying around like there was last year. Neither did i have blood drawn this year. THE PYRO SAGA Right, this one really got me. This carries on from last year but it triggered me again this year. The rules state the below. 'Pyro limited to MK4 anywhere on site. This includes reusable pyro (at the last game TLFX made us some MK5 pyro but with a special bang so they were not as noisy as normal MK5 levels). These will be permitted if anyone has any left or will be sold on site via Ammo Drop. If not bought directly from site though please stick to MK4.' Now i spoke to TLFX and they have confirmed that no special pyro was ever made for last year. There is no such thing as a Mk4 bang in a Mk5. This year, the onsite shop was selling MK5's from FBS. Apparently these were fine as they had been sound tested. However, the rules still state no MK5s? Why cant i use my own? Why cant they just admit that this is a deal with the onsite shop to get more purchases and is nothing to do with sound levels. BIO and ammo limits The rules clearly stated that only BIO ammo was to be used and a max of 600 round per person. Ammo limits were not policed at all, plenty of people running around with box and drum mags from the start. On the topic of BIOs, at the end of Sunday I was emptying my mags with some full auto goodness when a Marshal came up and said 'Just because it's the end of the day, does't mean you need to waste your BB's.' Upon my reply of 'Why? I paid for them' I got a response of 'we have to sweep them all up'... Okay cool, if you're sweeping them, why make me get Bio's then? Questionable marshalling A few things here, i really don't think that they had enough Marshal's. The marshals that were there, did not seem to communicate at all and some of them were just rude. There was a few places that we were not able to shoot over due to delicate windows. We seemed to get an absolute bollocking for shooting over these areas but tans could fire over them all day long and have no issues. People were getting shouted at all day for this despite nothing being mentioned in the brief, same goes for the hole in the floor I mentioned earlier, how am i mean to know if i'm not told? Also, when you are telling people, maybe just mention it rather than getting your knickers in a twist. Mentioning it on the brief would mean you don't need to tell every player individually. They were not amazing with policing hit taking although really this falls on the players more than anything. One marshal was even taking handfuls of MK5s off people as he didn't realise that they were allowed to be corrected by players... None of them just seemed to actually know the rules. Anyway, i could probably write more, I just don't see the point. They had so much time to make sure that this went better than the last one and even had the weather on their side this time however the organisation was still piss poor, rules may as-well have been non existent and yet despite people not coming back on the Sunday there was no real effort in my opinions to fix the issue (minus one 40 minute bit of gameplay). Nowhere near worth the £90 in my opinion, 2 days at a local site would have been just as good, if not better as they actually would have equalled out the teams and changed game-modes after seeing such a shitshow. The blatant lying about the MK5's really ticked me off too. Some serious changes need to be made if they want to get back to how AI used to be.1 point

Most pleasant surprise by far has been Timeshift, super solid FPS gameplay, cool mechanics and enemies, nice little RPG elements for a linear FPS and a story that you feel should be cliche yet actually just seems to work really well. Also Fallout 3 quality presentation of lore and backstory in the world, really good.1 point -
