An old school L119 does just look like the mutts nutt’s to me this is my TM recoil dressed as one , if I do stick a can on it I’m lucky enough to have a ‘Perr Mike’ one from yrs ago .

When the AAP-01 first came out, though the price/performance was really good. I really couldn't get behind the aesthetics.. So when the CTM ruger kit came out. I had to get it. I think the only thing I will change in the future is the trigger and the bolt.. But for now I'm pretty chuffed with how it looks!

If my son punched like that or 'defended' himself by cowering like that I'd call him my daughter. I wouldn't actually thinking about it as my daughter knows how to use her fists. She'd flatten both of them. I don't know what I'd call him but it would be uncomplimentary, and by now I've lost interest in the airsoft part of it all. I'd have liked the Rocky theme for the build up with the Benny Hill theme for the 'punches.' 21yrs for me my 1st gun was a 4th or 5th hand TM M16 that the front end wobbled like a leaf in the wind no matter how tight you tried to get it ! 😳 who used to buy their gun from RSOV/Gunner/WGC that used to arrive doing 400+fps all the time pre UKARA ? You’d get that letter from parcel farce saying your parcel from Hong Kong was at your local Depo and you had to go and pick it up from there and you possibly may have got caught and have to pay some charges(they’d usually say something like ‘toy parts with a value of $10 on this honking big box !🤦‍♂️) on it ! 🤬 🤣🤣🤣

I'm about 20 years in now. Good fun in the old day. £300 for a TM M4, that had about a 5 piece barrel held together with grub screws, 2 piece hop unit and lugs that would break if you ever opened it up. To this day... Famas am best gun. Airsoft dynamics was an absolute shit show but had a good player gallery. There seemed to be a lot more variety. When a new gun came out it was often a different weapon rather than a new varient. There was also some great kits if you wanted to put the work in. Anyone remember smokey's? That used to be the only way to get a 74 or something exotic like a Swedish K. UZI's were plentiful, midcaps didn't exist and AEG's were all the rage getting rid of those annoying guns that required external air tanks... Won't see the likes of those again... Sun project Xm177's... Old technology long forgotten... No sir never again... Thanks Marui man!

Of course, the real unforgivable offence is posting Reddit clickbait here. Man, woman, I don't see gender, I just see an HPA wanker and a burger-roid-raging plonker who seems incapable of shouting the word "hit!". I don't know about you chaps / lady-chaps, but at the sites where I play, the briefing tends to make a point that you'll stop getting shot if and when you acknowledge the hit.

The full NGRS line up, the L119 needs some firming up and a once over internally but externally happy. Super pleased with the longer modern upper, nice to have an AR setup where an LPVO doesn’t look out of place.

AAP to Ruger project is going well. Lower receiver arrived and that's the first pistol lower I've had to completely strip out (as the Ruger lower comes empty, you have to take all the AAP-01 bits out of the stock lower and put them into the Ruger lower apart from the safety and the mag release button). Still want to get some real wood grips, a metal upper (but they're pricey), a new inner barrel as the stock one is short and some different rear sights, but it's now very much usable as a Ruger. New Namsoft sidearm acquired, and this one is more reliable and shoots better than my 1911. VC sniper now has a period-appropriate assassin pistol

I had one from his first run of them as I knew Mike ‘back in the day’ he was a really nice guy , was a loose bunch of us who used to meet up every now and again at places like the ‘Mall’ or UCAP tunnels and just have a bloody good day S’ofting . Happy days .

If none of the wires internally are damaged, so it may be the mechanical trigger unit at fault, you're welcome to have the one out of my son's gun for the price of the postage (I'm 99.9% certain I put it away safely with my other airsoft spare parts).

Aye, a Perr Mike is what I've got on mine. Trades are present and correct as well, and the barrel has had the 0.3" removed to make it the correct 10" (not that it's something I'd actively go out and do myself but I welcome them being there). All it's missing is a few bits of machining on the top rail and it's pretty much there... whether that's something I'll ever get around to doing is another question entirely.

hmm, maybe the flash hider itself? the way you're describing it sounds like you already know and have checked for the usual suspects but just for the sake of completeness the only thing you haven't mentioned specifically is checking the hop mound is centered in the barrel, and it's worth doing that over a range of hop settings as it can look fine on minimal hop only to deform when turned up further.

So, yours is the new version with the one piece cylinder, which will save you a fair bit of money! It still requires a TDC wheel (Action Army makes the best one) because the grub screw has a tendency to unscrew itself with use, then I'd look at a new o-ring for the piston head (it's AEG spec so any AEG o-ring will do), new hop rubber because the stock one is pisspoor quality and, if you can find it, a Gunsmithy hop up arm. You can keep the stock hop chamber because it's decent and seals well. If you're looking at reducing the sound, I'm afraid there's not much you can do, airbrakes don't really work on this gun and the cylinder volume is barely enough for 0.32s, let alone heavier BBs.

(Trying to get hold of another of my first ever AEG for the nostalgia) I played my first proper game in September 2000. (Had springers and gas pistols for a few years before that) I often look back at the old days with how simple the game was, less rules, less stress, less arguments. If I was given the option to time travel somewhere I'd definitely go visit some of my old haunts again with a modern AEG...

Surprisingly, yes. I've tried many lotions and potions over the years for biking and then airsoft, and they're the least useless I've come across. They should be, given the price. It's worth keeping an eye open for bulk buys that will last you years rather than buying them at the extortionate sums being asked for a couple of them.

It was my youngest son that got me into airsoft as well, we both played a rental game in 2020 and were hooked ever since (young teenager and me an overweight old fart). Every man and his dog can give advice about what to buy, but all I'd say is both get the same rifle, having the exact same stuff makes life so much easier 👍 (same mags, same stocks so you know what batteries fit, if you fix a problem with one rifle you know that you can do the same to the other etc.). Looking back to my start in airsoft I think there are only two things I'd change, and that's drink way more water (you lose more than you think), and goggles fogging up is a right pain in the arse so get some "Revision" wipes for them.

All the questions have already been asked at some point... - Rent for first 3 games to get UKARA registered. As well as being able to buy in realistic black (RIF) it will allow you to experience the action before investing in a pew. You can chose a long or short style weapon depending on your preference once you get a feel for the games. Even though you haven't mentioned it, Sniper is not advised as a starter. M4 are the most common for their versatility. - My top/down list of manufacturers based on price/performance would be JG, CYMA, SpecnaArms, G&G - A couple of Li-Po 7.4v 1300mAh for each of you will last a day. SkyRC S65 charger (+adapter leads needed) Convert plugs to Deans (T-connectors) or XT30 if you can use a soldering iron. - Check out https://playairsoft.uk/ for sites near you. Ahoy and welcome. I mostly play a walking game now: run and you'll just die tired. Great to hear that you're starting with the safety gear. The M4s is indeed a decent default platform, and you'll have magazine compatibility if you both go that way. There are some perfectly reasonable brands out there with decent features at sub-£200 prices: finding them in stock is more of the problem at the moment. When you do get your own, I'd suggest lithium-polymer (lipo) or lithium-ion (li-ion) batteries. The former are cheaper, the latter are higher capacity. 7.4V (2 cell) is fine for most guns. Deans connectors are better than mini-Tamiya, but both work. The SkyRC S65 is the default recommendation for a decent charger - avoid anything Nuprol branded like the plague. Airsofters can get a dose of Magical Thinking about our own particular toys, but with a clean barrel and hop rubber shooting 1J - 1.1J, most AEGs are going to perform much the same. More price doesn't really get a huge amount of extra performance, it's more about metal bodies, trademarks, and nice-to-have features like recoil or mosfets that can do things like 3-shot bursts or pre-cocking to improve trigger response. You don't need any of that though and even a no-feature gun like a G&G Combat Machine is going to sling BBs downrange just fine. In terms of brands, G&G and CYMA are very low risk. G&G Combat Machines used to be the default starter choice, but they're pricing themselves out of the market now. The cheapest CYMAs have robust internals but very toyish plastic bodies. Specna Arms and Lancer Tactical have had quality control issues but seem to be OK at the moment, although the new Specna Arms FLEX range are too new to be a known quantity. Jing Gong are a decent brand, and the Double Eagle M9XX M4s are getting lots of love. Renting will give you the opportunity to blag a go with other people's RIFs to see (or feel) for yourself the difference between plastic and pot-metal bodies, and to hear a straining motor and badly shimmed gearbox versus something tuned to a T. I'd recommend checking and adjusting the hop on any rental gun as it can be neglected. You should be able to find a helpful player happy to assist if you hang around the chrono / test range. At the end of the day though, if you have some that shoots a BB more or less in the direction that you're pointing it, you can have fun with it. Obligatory:

Be guided a little bit by what you personally like the look of,after you will be using it. Ouch, I hope so too. I've done a bit amount of re-enactment archery and it's a case of trust on both side: that the archers will ensure that our arrows are always heading downwards when they reach the targets, and that said targets won't say "What arrows?" and look straight up just as you're dropping a cloth-yard of rubber-blunted cedar straight down onto them. But in the heat of the moment, I have seen absolute wankspankles flat shooting at full draw, in one case resulting in the miscreant being physically tackled and restrained by his own side. Like airsoft, reenactment is a great hobby, except for the very occasional freak accident, and the 5% who will never listen or learn, and who should really find a different pastime.

aoe wouldn't really do that, it'd be more on the rearmost pickup tooth. i'd be wary of videos on the topic, aoe is one of those subjects that you see a lot of people blanket suggesting large adjustments when the reality is the vast majority of pews don't need anything so drastic.

My advice would be stay on this forum, use the classifieds here, check the trader history of anyone you're considering dealing with. That's how I do it and I've never had a bad transaction (well, one pistol was a little unwell, but not awful). Plus we're not a bad bunch of wankers, mostly.
