Is it time?
MikeMarden and one other reacted to Rogerborg for a topic
I am properly sorry to hear that. I sort-of know-them feels after I gave up swords-and-axes historic reenactment a decade or so ago, before I got injured doing it - and I've still got a loft full of steel, wood and wool that I've been unable to bear to part with. 🙄 Now I'm onto airsoft, and then there will be something after that. So I'm sure you'll find something rewarding too. Fishing, extreme ironing, whatever floats your boat. Best of luck with the sales, I'm sure plenty of us will be watching like hawks feathered avians.2 points -

Is it time?
Lozart reacted to sonofsammo for a topic
I think the time has come to hang up my hat. My last game was supposed to be a test, to see if I enjoyed playing any more, as I've been moving more toward real firearms recently. Something of a mixed result came of it! The little I played, I enjoyed. But truth be told, I'm old, fat and knackered and in my current state, as demonstrated by my accident, I'm a bit of a fucking liability. If I'd been fitter, not sure I would have fallen. But who knows? I'm going to stick around, as I like the banter, and you never know, there may be that one gun that comes up that persuades me that I really need to shoot someone with it! My enormous thanks to everyone who has helped, advised and taken the piss over the last few years. Particular thanks to @rocketdogbert, without whom I would undoubtedly have not bought as many guns 😄 The only thing for me to do is pull my finger out and stick everything that's left up for sale. But fuck me, what a ball ache! I frigging hate selling stuff. That's possibly why I've not admitted defeat before - can't face the bear pit of the classifieds. SoS p.s. my son's chosen a username for himself and I can't stop laughing.... He's Sonofsonofsammo 🤣1 point -

Broke the last tooth of the sector gear.
Nick G reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
Where did the tooth go? Dont want it rattling around in there..... If its a clean enough break it could be ok, short stroking a gun by intentionally grinding off teeth is a well established practice for getting a little more snappiness out of the box (and allow a higher rof before you get pme issues). Only issue is if its a long enough barrel that you need the full stroke for volume (~450mm ish) Reduced power is a by product of less compression, so you do usually need to run a stronger spring to compensate, which is where you can get issues same as running a stronger spring for higher power. I'd say at the very least strip, clean, file down any remnants of the tooth and make sure there's no other damage (eg to piston).1 point -

Found some old .45 tracer ammo last night so I had to break out my RS FNX45. looks nigh identical to your black one except with a far longer suppressor haha.1 point -

Cyma/TM P90 Hi-Caps?
Floperator reacted to BigStew for a topic
The high cap mechanism is clever and complicated and prone to jamming. Best compromise is MAG 170rd mid caps1 point -
Cyma/TM P90 Hi-Caps?
Floperator reacted to EDcase for a topic
I've got two hi-caps by different makes and neither work properly. At some point the spring just unwinds completely with a whizing sound. There has to be a lot of tension on the spring to feed all the BBs and the mechanism design just isn't strong enough to hold it. As you know, its not possible to wind as you play. I have more success with the STANAG adaptor but I use short (20rnd) Vietnam hi cap mag which is much more compact. Using the wheel on that as I play works fine. You do have to roll the gun left and right a bit to get the BBs to feed into the side mag.1 point -

I'm loving that analogy. I totally relate to that. Like i mentioned about this sunday, mine started to jam as I forgot to clean and regrease it after my last game. My fault. But now have done all that, man, the BCG slides like butter. It's unfortunate you are having such a hard time, but think of it this way... you have now learned several new things on fixing your MWS that you don't have to pay a tech to do. You will be proficient at fixing in no time1 point
-
Nozzles, nozzle springs, gas and BBs are all consumables in the MWS world. As C-Diddy says treat it as a classic car / high performance car and accept a level of tinkering, with what is ultimately a toy. At the end of the day there is less to go wrong and when it does it is easier to fix than an AEG with the bonus that some POS Lipo isn’t going to self-immolate at a random point 😂1 point

Truth to tell, I've got a magwell grip myself, because I found that I kept gripping the magwell. Now that I've fitted it, I find myself never gripping the magwell. Fickle-fingers syndrome, the airsoft curse.1 point

Specna Arms sa-06 Core. Got a Specna metal receiver that needs to be fitted, so it won't look that different and am waiting on a Tan C-more RDS to arrive and that's it complete.1 point

HeliVest Plate Carrier with added dangler .... fits and looks better when I'm wearing a jacket or shirt though.1 point -
As other have commented, this is something you cant really answer, you have to experience. My two pence: I recently switched from Zero One Blitz BBs (local shop/site decent BBs) back to ASG Devil Blasters (great) and I have some Geoffs to try as well. In an effort to convince myself that I'm doing the right thing by way of the planet, I've also got some ASG Open Blaster bio BBs and have to say the .28s were mint out of my TM 416. No surprise to see @AlphaBeartalking about Nuprol 🤣1 point

What's the next step to upgrading my currently stock AEG?
george1976 reacted to Speedbird_666 for a topic
The only thing I would change from the outset would be the stock motor, swapping it for an SHS/Rocket Hi-torque. I would leave everything else as-is, and give the barrel a good clean. And fucking around with springs without a chrono is a really bad idea.1 point -
What's the next step to upgrading my currently stock AEG?
george1976 reacted to ak2m4 for a topic
My advice is put the M90 back in and just play with it for a few games. Go and watch some upgrade video's on YT, so many great resources out there. Lot of people rush into upgrades but only end up breaking their only AEG. You say you want a DMR, would this be a 2nd AEG or are you planning on converting the CORE?1 point -
Nice. How much fettling was required to get the nose cap to fit? Thinking of doing the same to mine. I dont have a real bayonet, but I did purchase a rubber replica from vintage airsoft (along with a rubber commando Dagger for a seperate ww2 loadout) , so at least I can skirmish with it Crap pics I know, I took them late last night...1 point
