  2. Last Sunday's loadout. LT 933, 2x hicaps, no chest rig or secondary. Nice and lightweight.

  3. It's all I have to hand at the moment. It's what I use for fpv goggles power if I'm using more than the 2s the goggles can take as standard or I'm using a bigger battery I don't want strapped to the side if my head.

  5. A pistol lanyard would be a better option that a spiral cable. You can do it in a paracord sleeve with a core to prevent snagging and yanking on the cable. I've done a few for lights, switches and some that include a step down for running 4s lipos in 2s systems (fpv goggles) Have a good silicon shield cable slightly longer than the paracord outer, I use 550, then feed the cable as a fine paracord through the middle. Once the all threaded through melt the paracords together and add a little heat shrink. Then its just soldering the wiring together. And the battery goes in a pocket/pouch next to the lanyard fix point.

    Opinions please

So I've been stripping the handguard on my Ares mutant ready for a fresh coat of matte black as it was badly scratched, and decided to see what it looked like as bare metal. I kind of like it. I'm thinking I might spray it up in gunmetal, and do the buffer tube too. What does everyone think?

  7. I think this has gotten away a little from the point I was trying to make (but to other interesting points worthy of their own discussion....) And that point is really that in some cases the time spent / paid for carries its own residual value. Perhaps what I didn't make clear is I acknowledge that there's plenty that don't. So the timing chain example. Most of that work is labour. There's a risk in a car when that expense hasn't made and the car reaches a certain mileage that if the belt snaps through wear then the engine can seize, and you need a new engine for £2-3K. So a reasonably savvy buyer looks out for whether the work has been done, and is willing to pay something of a premium for it. Sure there'll be buyers who don't know, and some buyers who could try to do the job themselves, but most will be in the middle - I'd say once you're in a market for a used car with > 60-70k miles on the clock and you've watched a YT buyers guide, you'll know about it to at least ask if it's been done and factor that in to your purchasing decision. (I've just been there, done that, but ran out of money for the t-shirt) However with that same car, stuff like brake pads, oil changes etc ... they carry their own labour charges. Is that likely to hold much sway in my buying decision? Probably not. If the previous owner has spent a hundred hours tuning his car so it's perfect, will I pay extra for his labour(s)? Nah. Dave's custom stuff comes with a clear shopping list of components, and as a level 3 upgrade basically seems to touch every component then again a reasonably savvy buyer might well be willing to pay above the going rate for a 'shop done' upgrade, rather than having some unknown part-timer meddle with the innards. I'd consider the Dave's custom work to be very much an outlier because the work's been done to a fresh gun, out the shop. I'm in that area though where it seems to have value to me but I don't know how real that value actually is. TL;DR: Present me with the option to buy one of two guns - one upgraded at a shop I'd already heard of, versus one upgraded with the same parts, by Mr X at a game site. I would be prepared to pay more for the shop gun. If it's Mr X versus Mr Y doing the upgrades, I'm not going to be considering their labour to have any particular intrinsic / residual value.

  8. Don’t disagree just as many cowboys (if not more) in the motor trade , point I was making is that for some unknown reason Airsofters seem a lot more acceptant of shoddy tech work than most others are simply because of the ‘reputation’ of said tech ?
    1 point
  9. tbh i don't think it's that ridiculous a comparison, i mean the car world does have plenty of examples of cowboy mechanics doing sub-par work, people "improving" their cars (you know the type- cars that ground out if you leave a penny in the road and belch more smoke than a russian carrier every time they pull away) etc. airsoft teching is basically what car repairs/modifications would be like without the likes of the MOT system and related enforcement......

  10. I've been using HSGI taco pouches for years. They've been perfect for glock mags and 1911 mags so I'm sure they'll do the trick.

  11. Now the problem with this comment is your applying real world expectations to Airsofting , when you take your car to a ‘reputable’ garage you have an expectation of an appropriate level of work being done AND an expectation of recourse if it isn’t ? Where as with Airsofting there’s a VERY VERY good chance even from supposed ‘reputable’ techs and retailers your going to receive a gun back that appear to have been work on by a monkey with Alzheimer’s , AND when you do try to complain you’ll be told either ; A, “it must have happened transit” B, “you must have done something to it after receiving it back” or C, “how dare you question our tech teams work !” 🤦‍♂️ Just saying 😉

  14. afaik the specna ammo tends to be rated quite well, as are bls. needless to say if specna's ammo is just bls ammo in a specna bag then that's not a bad thing.

  15. I was near a Halfords last night so I called in to see what they had in stock... ended up buying what they had - a can of Khaki and a can of Black. So that leaves me picking another 6 from this short-list from the matte Mtn94 range... I'll probably pick the light and dark green, the two browns, the claret and the off-white. Should be able to produce some interesting patterns with all that lot!

  17. Would you take BO2 - part of the original or ONE series - over any of the Edge series? The original oem was E&C which is generally well thought of, and some have said that although the Edge series is easier to change a spring on, the build quality is not as good as the original ONE series guns. Does anyone know who the oem is for the Edge series?

  18. Cyma Tactical grip and handguard for my aged TM AK47-S £25 https://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/products/cyma-ak-tactical-grip-front-end/ It fitted ok, needed some not-so-gentle persuasion but I think that added to the solidity of the fitment - it's a gazillion times better than the original TM creaky faux wood. I've got a stubby grip on order for it to complete the look. I tried my Kobra on the RIS rail - it still has too high an eye-line. Even my cheapo small red dot sits a little higher than I'd ideally like. So I'll stick with the iron sights.

    Which bucking?

I use the omega nubs in a few rifs, and I've been using maple leaf rubers with them. The new MR rubber and the older style too. They've been great.

  20. The one that didn't work was definitely not 0.75. It looked like it didn't have more wire strands than a signal cable on a mosfet and a fabric string intertwined.
    1 point
  21. You've already found out that 0.75mm cable is too small, why buy something you know is too small?

I used both the stock TM barrel 50d and a Prommy MWS barrel 60d, the latter in a DMR setup @ 430fps. I generally do not like Maple products, but was impressed with the MR + SuperNub combo, but it wouldn’t surprise me if you get ‘lemon’ Maple buckings. Did you check for any moulding flaws and give a good fairy liquid scrub?

    What have you made?

Converted a Storm grip that was for a PTS (I think) to work with a GBBR . Grafted a section of WE M4 grip in . It's for a mate's L119 A1 build and GBBR Storm grips seem to be rather thin on the ground at the mo.

  24. Yeah, there were more than a few issues that came from that rain. My radio is giving up, one guy's mosfet in his AK was totally busted and another guy's gun was completely dead after day 1. All of us lot from the Worthing site are always green team, been like that for over a decade now. I don't have any CQB guns though, so I spent the entire event holding angles outside and wishing they allowed bolt actions with how long some of the shots I was taking were with my m21 (which is set to 1.1J, because 1.48J for DMRs wasn't worth it in my opinion).

  27. If you can find someone who understands that, and they're choosing between two otherwise equivalent cars, and they think that the extra you're asking is worth it. Trying to flog a 10 year old car for essentially the same price as a new one because half the parts on it are under 10 years old and it's got a dustbin exhaust is... optimistic. But you do have to find one. I don't grudge people trying to find their unicorn buyer, but while they wait and wait and wait I'm going to 🍿 it out.

  28. They just come with a standard nozzle. The thin ones are cheap enough though. I found it varies on the colour but they are matte enough for my liking.

  29. That l1a1 could easily be sorted as could one of these, there wood after all. Sand it down and re varnish. Or the LIme Green L1A1 could be easily painted over for that Rodie look.

  30. Be wary some of the colours are a bit weird like the khaki if you want a proper khaki the Halfords is nice. The molotow is a bit bright and yellowy. It's ok used limitedly. All the coffee colours are good . Evil olive is a good dark green .

    What have you made?

Wanted some wing pouches to add to my chest rig for a radio. Cut a spare triple mag sleeve in half, tidied it up and have ordered some iron-on velcro so it can attach to my rig. May need to stitch the velcro in if the adhesive isn't strong enough. Pretty cheap alternative to buying actual pouches; £6~ for the sleeve and £2~ for the velcro. Not exactly 'made', more cut in half and stuck to something else.

  41. I was in the gym changing rooms at lunchtime with my mate Tom. I turned around to speak to him and couldn't help noticing that he was wearing a lace thong. 'Bloody hell mate!' I said. 'How long have you worn skimpy women's lace underwear?!' 'Since my wife found some in the glove compartment of my car,' he replied.

Hi all. If anyone on here is interested I've just heard that the British museum has recently taken delivery of a new exhibit. It's an Egyptian mummy but instead of the usual mummification process this one was covered in chocolate and crushed nuts. They have called it Pharaoh Rochè....😀😀 Regards
