  1. So for Christmas I bought the missus a Cricut machine and have actually been using it a lot myself to make stickers for my van from photos of my toys.

  3. Because TMs are designed to run at under 1J for the Japanese market, so then you get into a cycle of replacing all the TM bits until eventually you end up listing your £1200 worth of random parts in the classifieds for £800 as "shoots like a laser, in theory, just can't get it to work, probably an easy fix though". All apocryphally, it's not something that I want to spend £500+ to investigate. Since I'm in a meme-mood...

  4. Well, here's one that I memed earlier. I've never owned a TM, so this is a mix of Reddit-level anecdote, generalised observation, and cold, cruel physics. 1) [People say] TMs don't take well to being powered up, and are generally believed by their owners to be the best out of the box guns. 2) [People find] The heaviest BB that you can hop and afford is generally the best choice. It'll pick up more energy and go further than a lighter one. 3) [I opine] Thinking and talking in terms of fps is a 1990s habit that's we should leave there, because (as we've just demonstrated) it requires qualifying with BB weight, then we have to convert to Joules anyway. Always chrono with the BBs that you actually want to use, and you might as well look at the Joules figure. I can tell you that my DMR shoots 0.32g at 1.8J, but I have no idea what fps that is, or what it would shoot 0.2g at. Those numbers simply aren't relevant. 4) [Newton says] Inside the range that your gun can shoot at, it's all about consistency which is where TMs are purported to excel. However, your maximum range is determined by muzzle energy. TMs don't actually conform to a different set of physical laws, and a 1.13J CYMA which can hop 0.3g will shoot further than yours. That doesn't mean that it will get hits, just that it could.

  5. Yeah, I would stick with an impression kit, rather than an accurate loadout. I was going to do similar for a police AFO loadout, then decided it was a lot of expense and to what end. Went with a comedic impression AFO instead

  6. The impressionist crowd are the male-dominant version of the fashion/celebrity gossip industry; bitchy as fuck. I've got a couple of mates to who I said 'be careful down that path idiots on instagram will bitch at you for your socks being slightly too light green' and that's exactly the sort of thing that happened/happens. If you genuinely want to try and recreate UK armed police loadouts from a certain region's police force during a certain period, you're probably gonna need to get in to a niche group on facebook and buckle up for some insane nit picking and stitch counting. The LEAF stuff isn't the standard issue anymore for any regional firearms teams or at least less of them than it was, afaik. Various armed units have worn various PCs including Ferro slicksters and different models from C2R Fast; and probably a load more I don't know of as well.

  8. Happy New Year everyone. Hope the hangovers etc are mostly healed now. Almost done with the armour, finished the shin guards and added neck protection. Purchased a couple of Viper pouches for mags. Considering some added detail on the back and trying to think of something to cover hips/bum/bits as its all looking a bit exposed so far. Decided to do a mockup to see what it all looked like... hmm interesting, kind of a psychotic mishmash of Master Chief, Doomguy, Armored Core and the Inquisitor from Red Dwarf... Eezer G

  9. I have a TM416D and I've left the power totally stock. The difference in effective range between 0.7J (which is stock TM guns) and 1.1J is miniscule and TMs are generally built super nicely. You generally don't have to touch TMs, they fire brilliantly out of the box. I run mine at the stock 0.7J power and put .28s in it. Shoots wonderfully.

  10. Hey, folks! It’s been a while since I actively posted anything on the forum, and with 2021 being a thing of the past, I thought it would be cool to celebrate the plentiful of airsoft sites in the UK with a little Player’s Choice contest for the best (in your opinion) site in the UK. You can read the announcement on PlayAirsoft blog: https://playairsoft.uk/blog/2021-airsoft-site-of-the-year Also, to save you a click, you can vote here: https://airtable.com/shrDNnHOIHkgV5XZb I’m hoping that in 2022 we can revive airsoft as 2021 has been an all-round tough year for both players and hosts/organisers alike due to restrictions and lockdowns, let alone supply chain/import issues. Voting closes on Friday, 28/01/2022, and the winner (and runner-ups) will be announced the following Monday, 31/01/2022. PS. You can only vote for sites in PlayAirsoft database, so if there’s one you can’t find there yet, you can submit it via this little form: https://airtable.com/shrpMw7Xx1UiVErke

  11. Following the same logic, The Game Awards and other similar contests are also pointless, because nobody is capable of playing absolutely every single game to have skin in the game. Or watch a movie. Or try every recipe. Of course it's a subjective popularity contest. The point is to find out which sites are the most favourable among the online community. That's why it's called "Player's Choice". I could tell you objectively which sites are most popular based on the traffic on PlayAirsoft, but that would be also a biased representative, since it's algorithmically driven by search engines with plenty of queries for some specific sites. In the end, feel free to ignore this whole thing. If you don't think your vote might be representative due to a particular viewpoint, I have no objection there, but let's not make it into something bigger than it is. Some things are not made to be super serious. As a hobby niche we've been hit with enough crap over the last two years to put a lot of dedicated players down, to the detriment of the sport. It's not like I'm suddenly going to start slapping "recommendation" badges based on random online polls, which are subjective by nature. It's not a meaningful metric of excellence by any standard. The contest was created to raise awareness of airsoft, airsoft organisers, see what players think is best, bring us together, maybe entice organisers to start paying attention to player standards in the near future, etc. Lots of positive points to consider to bring us together. We've had enough divisions in the past two years.

I would assume it’s because CO2 is unregulated and inconsistent HPA is literally regulated - and consistent (that doesn’t mean that other factors don’t introduce inconsistency) In scenario paintball many years ago a collective UKSPC (UK Scenario Paintball Community) along with a ‘standard’ set of minimum rules The first event we ran in 2009 was the first UKSPC compliant event. Within the rules the maximum velocities for an outdoor event was HPA=280fps, CO2 260fps (If my memory is right) The reduced 260fps velocity was to allow for spiking between shots I don’t think the rules fully defined chronographing and any penalties, but my rules are for a number of shots, and you must chrono CO2 within 260fps to begin the game. If chronoed over on a spot check I would judge with an allowance for spiking - all over then I’m grumpy, one over then I’m nicer

  14. Yeah, there's a thread over in Electric Guns where I've been tracking my progress working on it... And thanks to the input of @Adolf Hamster, @Asomodai and @ak2m4 I've actually got it up-and-running. I've not actually used the new piston and piston head, I got a better air seal with the old piston! It's now running a teeny-tiny bit too hot at ~355fps so when I take it apart again to do a lube job with some proper grease, I'll maybe swap over (it's definitely better made, so worth using), see how it goes

  15. I would try a tighter barrel. This takes five minutes to chop out, and will increase your fps albeit nominally. Problem with tm (from my own experience), you change the spring, you then have to change the piston, you then have to change gears, then you have to keep an eye on bushings ANd wear on the shell itself… not to mention having to add a mosfet to protect that trigger from wear from spamming semi…. try a tight barrel and keep the oem hop up.
    2 points
  16. I’ve heard two different ones, though both refer to the same thing. Either ‘top dead centre’ or ‘top down centre’, essentially you drill a small section out of the outer barrel and run some sort of bolt through that hole which applies pressure directly to your hop arm. Truthfully I fear we might already be past how much thought you’ve put into what exactly it is you want to be achieving. In no way am I intending to dissuade you, but I get the impression that an opportunity for a cheap RIF has come up and that’s now pretty rapidly growing into something else. Seems to me you think FPS (‘power’) is the be all and end all, which it absolutely isn’t. This isn’t exact at all because we want everything to be working together but as an extremely simple breakdown of what’s doing what: Stronger spring = Higher FPS/Joules = BBs get where they’re going faster Heavier weight BBs + Better hop setup + Clean barrel = Longer range + More consistency Selecting the correct spring ideally needs the hop setup and BB weight settled on and installed, otherwise you may well end up at risk of hurting someone with a RIF running above the joules it should be (I’m not going to go into depth on what joule creep is, a Google search will get you there if you care to know… much like it would have for what a TDC mod is FWIW).

  17. It's... it's in stock, in the UK, for £300. https://www.ukfob.co.uk/Novritsch-Airsoft/SSG10/Novritsch-SSG10-A1-Airsoft-Sniper-Rifle Does a €79, er, "official" sight add over £100 to the value? Does it only work with the "official" sight? I don't know whether to pity the seller, or anyone daft enough to pay close to that much for a low-powered pre-fiddled example without warranty.

  19. Lol, so true. Amazing how many folk get their knickers in an insufferably apoplectic twist because the pattern isn't bang on, or the PC doesn't sit right, or, gawd forbid, trousers tucked in to boots... I mean, good grief, its all just a bit of fun, chill the heck out. I dont do any social media for that reason. Life's too short and already too much going on without worrying what some prats posing/ bitching about on IG, or who's arguing on FB, or some bigoted Lefty clown preaching on Twatter, can't be bothered with any of it. There's a couple of forums I visit regularly and that's it. Used to do more but can't be bothered these days. For the OP I'd simply recommend look at pictures of what you want to achieve then shop around. It might not be absolutely bang on however it's just a bit of fun at the end of the day. This might help: https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/buying-guides/airsoft-loadouts-ctsfo

  23. My stock TM recoils all chrono about 270 with 0.2s with the hop on, afaik that's the standard. 0.3 at 280 is already right on the bleeding edge of the legal limit - 1.09J. 1.07J will be 340 with a 0.2g so basically the same power and still only just within the legal limit.
    2 points
  24. Wait, so currently your gun is chroning 280fps with .3g BB's? That's how your post seems to read... though a stock TM would never have that power.

  25. I regularly refer people to the following diagram and i myself follow it not just for pistols by GBBRs too. As for OP, yeah most metal in airsoft is cheap Chinesium (POT) metal cast from moldings, only CNC'd parts are better but incredibly expensive. And there is much to be desired for the finishes in airsoft, TM cerakoating there MWS was an excellent move on the half. Also I own two TM M9s, one is a TM M92FS which was my first TM pistol (and my conversion to TM) and the TM Albert .W Model P01 (TM M9A1 with Resident Evil Blue Umbrella trades) love them both and whilst i still own my original TM M92FS i mostly use the Albert one. Ill never forget the day i tried my TM M92FS at my first skirmish, up till then i had used WE because "METAL SLIDE" 🤪 and was mostly just expecting the same shit range and accuracy. To see the TM M92FS shoot and the BB just going, and going and going in a straight line until i could no longer see it made me go "WOW, what is the magic in this?" 🤯

The only reason I could understand for banning co2 is as Tommikka points out is the risk of a "wet shot" spiking the power, whether or not this actually happens in modern airsoft rifs is another thing. All other reasons die at the crono.

    THE TM MWS thread

I’m gonna defend this item. It is far from needed but it made my alu bolt slightly snappier and gave the rifle a very satisfying sound. A sort of metallic rattle. But for the new club members. # HSB buffer # mod the nub or buy the sixgun nub # actually bring the rifle to a skirmish!!!

  33. Not a day , but a few of us have done a couple of sessions at an indoor airsoft place that's close by. It's all target based with electronic targets that can be set in various modes. 4 of us went up there last evening with some of the GBBRs and just did some speed games and some general target shooting , absolute bloody hoot !

  35. Absolutely true, and they are a wonder to behold. But in my experience, that's the exception not the norm. I'm more than happy for people to bodge their TM's with upgrades as it means I'm less likely to get shot as I bimble around at a skirmish.

  36. I'm not getting back on a site until the middle of the month, so my recent airsoft days have been "learning how to (bedroom) tech". I've been spending quite a lot of the holiday at it, and to be honest it's been time consuming and frustrating in parts, but ultimately very rewarding when it's all come together. I've now meddled (apparently successfully) with all 4 of my guns... 1) Double Eagle M906C - quick changed the spring, new bucking and nub. Super easy jobs! Not even teching, really 2) Classic Army M15A3 - shooting off to the right, spent a while shimming the outer barrel to get it straight. Fixed full auto feed. 3) Cybergun F2000 (Cyma) - shooting at 270fps out of the box with a rather slow trigger response, so replaced the spring, cylinder and motor 4) TM AK47S - Replaced cracked nozzle Given the last time I tried to change springs on the AK I ended up giving the gun to a tech to put together, the fact I've got all this done on my own feels great Only thing that's a tiny bit of a pisser is today I found out one of my two Turnigy Nano Cell 11.1v 1200mAH batteries has completely died.

Try outdoor & tactical. https://www.outdoorandtactical.co.uk/product-category/accessories-parts/sniper-upgrade-parts/l96-upgrade-parts Admittedly, they're not the most easy model to get parts for nowadays, as they were never as popular as the VSR or the Maruzen style L96s. Imo, I would leave it and go for something else. A cheap VSR clone will be cheaper and easier to upgrade & source parts for.

  46. Yup, an o-ring nozzle and replacing the stock [clarification] piston o-ring resulted in a rock solid air seal on my CM.516. A bit of silicone grease and I was seeing a had-to-check-it-twice 1.3J out of an M100 spring and a ZCI 229mm barrel. Air seal is king, I had to drop to an M90 and even then it's nudging 1.14J.
