  1. In a word , bollox . I’ve been playing for a very long time and I’d say this sweeping statement pretty much covers every model of airsoft gun there’s ever been . You get good and bad with everything ! @RostokMcSpoons I’ve got a pair of AUG’s one standard length and one short para I’ve also got an L85AFV and my youngest has got a Tavor and there all great guns to play with (only takes seconds to get your mind in the right place to change your reloading to behind instead of to the front of the trigger assembly) the para and the AFV are absolutely awesome in CQB due too the short length but still hold their own with no trouble at all in woodland due them both still having reasonable sized inner barrels compared to some supposed ‘outdoor guns’ . In the end bud comes down too if you want it get it . 👍

  3. This'll be the super unpopular option, but if the ICS is out of stock maybe you can save enough to afford it by the time it's back in. If there's one thing I'll claim to be a world expert on it's judging whether a replica is close to a real L85 and my ICS is definitely very good as airsoft guns go.

  4. But you're our kind of fuckwit Oops, that was supposed to be 48k. Still, a quick google search shows them going for £100 to £500 depending on the condition

  5. On Facebook they said that they'd be running a Black Friday discount for the UK once they had the shipping sorted out. So, I'd be inclined to wait for an announcement...

  6. sounds about right. this is precisely why secondhand guns lose so much of their value because there's no comeback if somethings up with it.

  8. I had the Cybergun F2000 when they first came out. Basically it's a JG AUG aside from the externals and magwell. 18RPS is achievable on 11.1v, But the internals aren't up to spec or set up to keep up with that ROF reliably without shedding the piston/gears/trigger contacts. Mine was pretty terrible out of the box. The barrel was shockingly bad. the Motor was frankly awful. I basically had to replace everything to get it even remotely decent. I eventually sold it in favour of the G&G F2000. It's OK. The ETU is overengineered as a simple mosfet like all Ares built rifles (Yes it's an Ares), but gives you very little in terms of configurability. The Hop unit is pretty pants and needs modification to lift heavier bb's. At the moment I have only replaced the barrel and hop rubber. I will be at least replacing the Motor in mine soon as Ares Stock Motors are awful and is essentially being bullied into performing by the mosfet. I do like my TM Aug High Cycle, However its almost unupgradable without replacing almost everything due to it's short stroked gears/high speed motor nature. Disconnect the EBB mechanism before it breaks. The AA's System is just as bad. Both AA and G&G have proprietary pistons which like to crap themselves fairly easy. Great externals, but I have had a couple of cut off levers break due to an inherently weak design whilst actuating the roughly cut sector cam, stock motor is terrible which I replaced. Interestingly enough the trigger unit works as a sort of mechanical mosfet. You'll need to mod the selector so it will fire single shot, the dual trigger just does not work reliably enough to not get kicked out of semi only games. It's terrible for your wallet. I own or have owned most airsoft bullpups so you don't have to. They all come with some inherent problems, usually proprietary parts which are pretty terrible, they all come with crap motors without exception and most have crap triggers. Ultimately you are welcome to purchase what you want, but you must have come here to acquire some knowledge. What would I get if I were you? TM Aug HC on the expectation that I wouldn't mod it and would be happy with its performance despite the lack of FPS. What would I get if I were you out of what you have picked? Either the F2000 or the Aug, they are essentially the same inside with the same issues, but not as bad as the L85. Beware of the F2000 mag compatibility. Mine was incredibly fussy even with Metal Stanag mags.

  9. Welcome to airsoft and the perpetual desire for more pieces... Sounds like you're after a bullpup then. I'd recommend trying one first as not everyone gets on with the ergonomics of a bullpup, the arse about tit layout really throws folk and can make reloads awkward, plus the different weight balance. They can also be heavy for their small size. YMMV. I have an APS UAR, a gun that is slagged off a lot however I rather like it. Its light, shoots very well and is a lot cheaper than other bullpup options. Not everyone's cup of tea but it's certainly mine. If I was you, you've got three very decent guns there, I keep them and save your money for other stuff like mags, clothing tactical stuff etc. Personally, I'm after a Desert Eagle as its my favourite pistol and I've half convinced myself that I could do with a GBB sidearm rather than the 20 quid springer 1911 I currently have.

The umarex m29 is a fairly new model other 2 are serviceable. No Airsoft revolver keeps up with a lot of pistols but they are fun. Always shoot better used single action where possible. I've had a few Tanakas that shoot nice but even they can be iffy especially over time and use.

  11. Couldn't find anything about them before I ordered. Anyway, for the sake of search engines and all that: I did order from them, my order was shipped quickly and it took 7 working days to get from Poland to the UK. Not bad, really. I'd use them again. I can't comment on how they'd handle something going wrong but in any case everything went right.

  12. I wouldn't go with the AA L85A1 personally. From the two I've owned, they're god awful internally and externally. ICS is FAR superior and not that much more to buy now either.

I've seen you dish that advice out before and keep it in mind. I get that it's a small operation and not a full time business, but a one liner to say "Sorry, absolutely snowers at the moment but I'll get you your order to you by x" would go a long way.

    Berget 18

Probably not a huge issue, but I was wondering what would happen if you leave the UK / enter the EU "fully vaccinated", then the definition of what constitutes that changes while you're there.

  18. Here we go Jacob. Straight from the pferd's mund as it were. I received this from the German Customs Directorate. '...travellers from the UK to Germany or through Germany required a weapons permit issued by the locally competent weapons authority. This is usually the authority locally competent for the area where the hunters or shooters stay in Germany or - if the transit only - where they enter Germany. There are no simplifications applicable in such a case. From a customs point of view this is a temporary import, provided the goods (firearms) leave the EU again. There are no import fees on that. An oral declaration to customs is sufficient. Here you can find a list with weapons authorities in Germany:' https://www.nwr-fl.de/liste-der-waffenbehoerden-seite.html I discussed my travel plans with Mrs Pith Helmet. She is of the opinion that Berget is likely to be extortionate to attend. She has attempted cheap(ish) road travel in Sweden previously and recommended Border War in Czech Republic as an alternative if driving. It does occur to me that there must be plenty of milsims in Europe. Attending as a group may be a lot of fun. There are plenty of Polish and Portuguese players at my local site. Attending a game as a British team with local interpreter might be something to attend.

  19. in defense of the seller, many folks in this hobby aren't that into the techy side of things and might genuinely not notice/think a big deal about little external issues let alone the myriad gremlins that could be going on inside.
    1 point
  20. As said above, if it shoots then it could be described as 'working'. Yeah, the seller is a bit of a douche for not stating all the things wrong with it but that's the second-hand market for you. Its also up to the buyer to probe for any possible failures in the description. (This is why its generally riskier for new players to buy used) Whenever you buy used you have to be ready to do some tinkering and fixing up even if all seems fine. Doesn't sound like there's anything seriously wrong with it. Have a careful look to see if the selector plate has any damage or wear that would limit its movement.
    1 point
  21. If you actually received something that shoots a BB when you pull the trigger 9 times out of 10, I'd call that a win. That sounds like it's "working fine" to me. Sorry to be harsh, but if you want an unconditional right of return and new gun performance, then new guns at new prices are available. On the issues, a selector (not tappet) plate costs £5 delivered, if that's the problem. It might be, I've had a similar safety issue when changing tappet plates, but the solution was to bin off the trigger-block piece so that the trigger can be pulled back freely in safe, but without moving the tappet plate off of safe and allowing a connection to be made. Cost, zero. You won't know until you have a look. If the motor adjustment screw is actually missing, I'd expect the motor to be too low and sound like a bag of angry wasps with spanners, if it was engaging at all. Are you sure that it's missing? It may be a tiny hex grub screw, deeply recessed. Easy enough to check: take the base off the pistol grip (expect the motor shim disc to drop out, stupid little things that they are) and check if there's a screw projecting inside it enough to push on the shim. Dunno about the mosfet, I consider them to be just another thing to go wrong. You could rewire back to standard wiring and flog the mosfet on as "working fine", right?

  22. Also. When you put it back together, did you put the buffer spacer in before the spring? Spacers and screwing in the buffer tube/ receiver extension, will increase tension on your buffer spring, which in turn insures the bolt returns fully to battery.

  23. SA80 has crap ergonomics and a good one is expensive, the fn2000 is suprisingly bulky as in wide and quiet a few people i have spoken to found the grip angle uncomfortable ( not personally but i find the P90 really comfortable to hold). AUG ergonomics are all right the cross bolt safety is not really ambi but most manufactures put the notch in it to make it a fire selector as well, the grip angle is good, the trigger guard means you can wear large gloves, folding foregrip is very useful, the hop is a well designed rotary and the gear box is a standard V3. the major selling point of the AUG is it can be field stripped and the barrel can be changed quickly (granted you then need several outer and inner barrel assemblies) not majorly useful but it is cool and good for transport. cons it does have a long trigger pull but that's not really a problem and mag changes aren't as easy as an armalite style gun. So out the three i'd get a P90 red dot with several MAG 170rd mid caps. failing that Civilian version of the AUG( the built in scope on the military models is crap no matter what manufacturer).

  24. Sounds like the bolt isn't going fully home. As above, debris preventing the nozzle locating correctly ? I've even seen debris behind the loading nozzle inside the bolt .

  25. Yeah, I'd say get the one you like the look of most. Sounds like its going to be on a shelf most of the time anyway. The performance of any of those should be good enough to play in woodland or cqb and can always be improved. I've heard the AA L85 isn't great but if you like the look of it and its cheap enough then why not. It should still give you some good game days. Its not that hard to fit a basic MosFet so you can fit or replace one if you want to get into a bit of teching. I wouldn't listen to Mr Negative too much. He spouted about the Ares L1A1 being crap and hard to work on but I worked on mine no problem and it shoots really well. And I'm not a tech by any standard. I have a JG Aug which was less than £150. I haven't used it in a game yet but testing in the garden indicates it shoots really well.

  27. The AA must be extra crappy cos my ICS L86 has chewed through a nozzle o-ring and broken its trigger group (£40 replacement 😬) Though I will be fielding again in this months christmas game, as it's finally fixed. It does have one of the better trigger pulls of the bullpups as the contacts are above the trigger, and not on the end of a long stick. Also really easy to work on. I have an AUG high cycle, I'm very fond of it and its ergonomics, despite the spongey trigger, and the fact the semi auto needs fixing right now. It's an absolute machine when you open it up for some supressing fire. The high cycle is one of the few models with a semi-auto selector position. It does maybe lack a bit of range, mine maxes out at about 40m. But it's a cqb gun more than a woodland gun.

  28. Bit of a sweeping statement that. No more or less unreliable than any other AEG IMO... all subjective and one man's meat is another man's poison and all that. I prefer my bullpup to my M4 but that's just me. I have considered an AEP as it gets pretty cold up here and not sure if I can be arsed pratting about with gas etc, however they have pretty sluggish performance. I'd be better sticking with a springer or just flinging BBs at opponents... Anyway, everything's out of stock everywhere so we can forget buying anything for a while yet.

  29. Wow, I had no idea they was selling for £300. I picked mine up about 2 years ago for £200 brand new haha. Personally out of the choices above, I'd go for the Aug. Lovely to use and ergonomic too. As cool as the F2000 is, a buddy of mine had one and it was very specific with what mags it would take, no idea if that was just his though but it definitely put me off. But of course, just my two cents!

  32. Been busy of late, however some progress today. Installed some EA belt loops on the armour and mounted the belt, which will act both as attachment to my body and for carrying a couple of pouches for mags and anything else for a nice low profile, light loadout. Not fussed about the glue as its going to get painted over. Next is sourcing some velcro straps for the leg and arm pieces.

Yep that's similar to my experience. they only shipped them out when i kicked up a stink on a large facebook airsoft group, raising a dispute is probably required too at this point. They are still making them though and unfortunately they are the best plates available.... so definitely a catch 22. Just as an FYI I believe the HR4K ones @GeorgePlaysAirsoft linked are possibly made by travail but i could be wrong. definitely look like they have the same profile anyway.

  35. yeah i was thinking initially that if you're loading via the existing port, might be easier to have a martini style system. very quick and dirty concept of what i'm meaning: idea is the block is sprung and replaces the faux loading door, you stuff a shell in like you would if you were loading it, you have the simple push button activator, and to remove the shell you just push the block up (there could be an extra bit sticking out so your thumb doesn't block the shell) with a very basic spring loaded ejector.

  37. Massive caveat that this is pure "grapevine" but I have heard similar things for a while now to the point that when I came to acquire some weighted plates I assumed they were essentially out of business and went to tridentgearco instead. if you want something heavier than trident's 4.2kg a pair set then you could maybe look at : https://www.hr4k.co.uk/products/hr4k-plates

  45. Yup, Specnas ship with an M120 and an M90 spring for different markets. The M120 isn't much use for the UK, being too hot for an auto-gun, but not quite enough to run it as a semi-auto DMR. The M90 should notionally give you about 295fps on a 0.2g BB, although you may see a bit more. Like a lot of airsoft, "M" numbers aren't well defined but are generally interpreted as meaning metres-per-second with a 0.2g BB, all highly dependent on air seal, barrel and so on. The M90 should be spot on for indoor CQB, but you might want a bit more for woodland. If you do, all Specnas come with a quick change spring system which lets you change the spring... well, quickly. You'll need a long screwdriver, a chonky hex key, and a bit of patience the first time, but it's easy enough to do, and an M95 or M100 spring will run you £6.50 delivered.

  47. Quick loadout update! This is pretty much my go-to now, instead of just using it for woodland and a plate carrier for CQB. Up top is my stock TM Mk18 Mod 1 which normally has an Inforce WML, and two point M81 woodland LBX sling. Secondary is the TM Glock 19 with repro X300 and Blackhawk lanyard. Spare magazines in a Blackhawk belt mounted plastic pouch. Holster is a Safariland. Arktis chest rig carries 6 primary magazines, normally a speed loader and comms gear if we’re using it. Bum bag for pyro and bucket hat for style.

  49. New addition to the battery family... a couple of Turnigy Nano-tech 11.1v Li-Po's, 1200mAH. Having bought a Titan that I expect to power any of my guns all day long, it was a bit silly buying them, but I couldn't resist seeing what the extra Rate Of Fire would be like. Yeah, it's fun And these particular batteries were disposably cheap at less than £8 each. (HobbyKing). As I found my old ammo can I've got somewhere decent to store them in, so I'm a little less nervous about having Li-Po's in the house. I made a pic with the other batteries, because I'm constantly impressed by the shrinking size of the batteries these days. This new one is just 130x20x16mm My old 9.6v NIMH brick and the 600mAH stick show how far things have come.
