  2. Some good news on the Taiwangun situation. I've been contacted by TG today to ask if I would take part in a pilot shipping to the UK using DHL, given I have an order that's been sat in my account for months (a couple of CYMA RIFS for Nam' themed games, plus a few other bits and bobs). No details as yet on postage costs, or whether TG are registering for VAT payment at source (which I doubt), plus they seemed very cautious in their correspondence, making the point they wanted to make sure the process is better than UPS before opening up to orders again to the UK. Given the experiences many of us have had on the forum and some of the financial losses that TG have taken, I think this is sensible and understandable. In my experience DHL have been infinitely better at parcel delivery post-Brexit, so I think this is a really positive step by TG. Hopefully I should get the order finalized this week, so I'll keep the forum posted on progress. If we are lucky they may open up orders before Christmas, which I think is probably a motivating factor for TG.

  3. Yes. FA 5 (2A) criminalises both manufacture, and also possession with intent to sell - and it doesn't say to whom. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1968/27/section/5 I've "kindly" let them know. Honest to God, cluelessness like this from airsoft professionals seems like a bigger threat to us than chavs and neds larking around with RIFs. If the very people who should be trusted to know and follow the specific exemption that we got aren't doing so, that's a strong argument for removing it.

  4. I'd have hoped to have seen better from a retailer as well known as Eagle 6. Especially when it comes to the flippant response to the comment. If they knew that the had produced it legally then why would you publicly mock a potential customer and put of other potential customers with that attitude and conduct. If they have produced it not knowing definitely that it is legal its extremely irresponsible for them to have posted the video on a public platform, considering that ignorance of law is not a defence and their lively hood as a business would be at stake.

  5. Ah, I fixed the wobble with a velcro sticky pad inside the mag well on mine, but I guess if you have a mix of mag manufacturers then each one could need a different amount of packing. I'm the sort of guy who frets about camouflage, so I won't be sticking bright colours on my mags anytime soon. But perhaps a bit of light grey electrician's tape I have will do the trick. It's a bit silly of me really, all my other kits is a real mish-mash of black / black camo / olive / S95 DPM / multi cam. Probably not very effective! And then someone sticks a big bit of yellow or blue tape on my arm as well, and I'm worrying about my mags

  7. The fact its going abroad doesn't change the fact that they are manufacturing an illegal weapon in the UK tho.

  9. I do it for identification in case I drop one. Though some of my mags have it at the top because the mag well on my gun is a little large so it prevents wobble and misfeeding.

Got my handguard fitted now and the space for the battery created max space for a battery is about 77mm long by 40mm wide looks like PEQ style batteries might be the way to go or one of these expensive titan batteries: https://www.landwarriorairsoft.com/batteries-bbs-gas-chronographs-c5/batteries-c62/titan-power-version-7-0-7-4v-3000mah-li-ion-brick-battery-deans-connection-p10821

  11. Well, these have arrived And they are fitted. Just waiting on new batteries to fit (hopefully) in the handguards.

  12. My airsoft day has been shit. UPS delivered me a couple of bags of BBs, a new foregrip, and a Titan battery. But didn't bother themselves ringing our loud doorbell, just left it out front instead. So some thieving git nicked it all. Arse. Edit:. Blimey. AirsoftAnonymous sent me an email at 9pm (which I've only just read) to let me know UPS made a bollox of their status updates, so it's not actually been delivered and then nicked after all! Huzzah! So it's now a good day 🤗

  14. Almost done with this build. Just waiting for an r-hop patch and a longer rail for the bottom so I can move the grip to the front(which will need to be cerakoted. ugh.) Edit: P90 style sling works a treat on the stock!

Well then Vorsk lives up to its Nuprol expectation 🤔 Would have been a shocker if something linked to Nuprol turned out to be good 😆

  16. Yep, made in the UK means the law has been broken, plus do I necessarily believe their "disclaimer" that it's going overseas ?, probably not as surely given how overseas limits are generally considerably higher, would the buyers not expect the output to be closer to their limits ? Just saying 🤔

  20. Both are very good reasons. If you don't want to lose your mags its worth putting some colour and maybe a bit of sharpie on them. If you're so worried about camo then use red tape as that colour doesn't show up at distance but will help if its lying on the ground. Your initials in sharpie will help identification in case someone finds it.

  21. That's the baffling bit, it's not like it's difficult to do that yourself. And viewed holistically, every owner with a working gun who takes up Luke's time with a strip-and-lube stops him fixing someone else's VFC.
    1 point
  22. Wouldn't worry about it too much, Aslong as it sounds good the lube should be doing its job. Majority of stock guns are not greatly lubed from the factory however they are usually using a thick heavy grease and lots of it with the aim of trying to make it be as "long lasting" as possible. My advice is to only relube it when you are going to have to open the gearbox at some point.
    1 point
  23. Silly question perhaps... when people are selling gear or showing off loadouts, I see a lot of magazines with tape around them in 'non-Tactical' colours... Is that just for ease of identification so you can spot yours if someone else picks one up? Or is to more easily spot them if they're on the ground? Should I be doing it too? (yub yub, fnarrr fnarrr) How often does it actually help???

  24. Well after yesterday's travails, I have to give UPS (grudging) respect for delivering my parcel on time, ringing the dell bell and knocking on the door nice and loud. So although he didn't wait for me to open the door before sodding off in a cloud of dust, it arrived safe and sound One FMA Short Vertical Grip installed, after a bit of futzing... the m-lok bolt was too short so I had to countersink the hole from inside the grip to give it the necessary wriggle room. But damn, it's nice! Just what I wanted. A bargain at £8, it gives me true BF4 vibes! and my Titan 7.4V 3000mAH Li-Ion stick battery fits perfectly in the stock... No perceived difference in either trigger response or RoF from my 7.4v 1500mAH Big Foot 25c Li-Po. A couple of bags of Longbow 0.28g bio bb's complete today's haul from Airsoft Anonymous. These seem quite highly rated from a couple of reviews I've read, and reasonably priced at £12 per 3000.

  27. Hey guys. So this same gun has been rebranded as a Matrix Calico Jack. Not sure if it is exactly the same but it seems to be. Re-lubing, 6.02 barrel and a 95 spring has it shooting 349.0 to 350.8. the only annoyance is the battery compartment and the inability to switch to a buffer tube. Going to try to find someone to print one of those extensions. Thanks for all the work you put into this. I was about to abandon it and buy an arp556 to start building but I think I may stick with this guy now.

  29. I sat down for tea with a fellow airsofter, who just like me, has been inactive for a long time. I've recently posted a few threads about DMR builds, and I also spoke to him about it, to which he responded with surprise when I said I was planning an SR25 build. He asked why I didn't buy something more vintage looking (Which I often spoke of back on the field) looking and I explained to him that I originally wanted to but I don't like faux wood stocks so there was nothing to build it out of. Then this absolute madman just gets up, goes to his closet and takes out a CYMA M14 with a real wood stock, puts it in my hands and tells me to take it with me. This might be one of the most welcome surprises of my life, and with his help I am now converting the M14 to a Vietnam War style M21 Sniper System. Here is a concept art. The idea is to add a scope mount, refinish the stock, and move the front sling mount an inch towards the rear to make space for a Harris bipod. A Vietnam Era M21 would not have had a Harris bipod or a Leupold scope replica, However to me, important parts for shooting comfort is a sunshade and bipod, so perhaps this is a replica of a reissued M21. Gearbox will be shimmed and upgraded to shoot at around 425 FPS. I might semi-lock it aswell.
    1 point
  30. You'll need to semi-lock it if you do that, however it's super easy to semi-lock an m14. You can just unscrew part of the fire selector (which is super accessible) and detach it after you put it in semi-auto, so you don't need to clip anything or file anything, so if you later down the line decide you want to go 1.14J and full-auto, you can re-attach it no problem. I accidentally found that out when I snapped the fire-selector on mine. It was a super useful breakage

    What have you made?

I was trying to buy smallest possible torch with integrated grip to use on pistols. I found one made by UTG but nowhere to buy anythere outside US. So I decided to make my own. The hardest part was to find smallest possible torch with instant on light and highest possible lumens. The one I got is a size of AA battery and has real output of 650 lumens. Not bad for such tiny EDC torch. Next step was easy with bit of help from thingiverse and my limited cad skills I manage to produce this it's tiny c.8x6cm!! tested on the game day and was better than expected perfect pistol torch with grip

  32. Eeeew manboobs 😬 The OP did say that he doesn't send AEGs for upgrades, just to be greased and shimmed 🙄
    1 point
  33. What? AEG's die or last for ages. Only rule for me is never buy a heavily upgraded 2nd hand gunless you plan to instantly open it and un-funk some "experts" work. Skill is great and all.... half decent skills with extra range and consistency, is even better. Fortunately for me... I'm fucking amazing and also have really meta builds. *now rub my nipples*

  36. Dammit, now I'm wanting a hard shell / retentiony holster that can take a generic flashlight too. I'm seeing Fobus holsters: And OWB: But have no idea how well they work, and I'm not going to take a punt on trying to order from Murca. UK sellers from stock, AliExpress and wait, or GTFO.

  37. the reason it tends to not be recommended is because in a world where the only entry requirement to be an "airsoft tech" is to convince people to pay you for your work there's often not much guarantee that sending a gun off to be worked on will necessarily result in that gun actually being any better or frankly even as good as it was to begin with. the workers who put these things together might only be doing it for 3 pennies and half a button per day but they do it day-in-day out and will be pretty proficient at at least doing it repeatably.

  38. A few little bits and pieces have turned up in the last couple of days... The sling was from Action Hobbies' bargain bin. Bought on a whim, it's pretty good. It'll get replaced by a QD 2-point sling eventually. The scope mounts are a bargain from Ant Supplies. Delivered very quickly, free p&p. I decided these mounts are too low, so I straight away ordered some extra tall ones, £6.50 (I've got a decent red-dot, but fancied using that old 4x32 scope I've had since I was a kid, to see how it plays) The M4 tool came from Ant Supplies too. Thought it'd be useful to have when I'm futzing around with my old CA M15. The Kombat UK holster is pretty decent for a cheapo. At least if fits on my Molle properly, unlike the belt loop one I had before that I had to lash in place with paracord. The BB Pouch was also bought on a whim... it'll be useful if I keep running hi-caps, perhaps even more so if I go ahead with buying mid-caps. And last, and perhaps least, the Project Airsoft stubby grip. Hmmm... 3D-printed rather than moulded, not what I really expected. It fits fine, but just looks cheap close-up. The grey grip tape is so fierce it can do double duty as a sanding block, but I guess it'll grip into my gloves (and perhaps shred them). The best thing about is - I'm now sure I want a vertical grip on my gun - so I'll go and buy this one from Airsoft Anonymous I got a couple more bits from Project Airsoft that aren't in the pic (as they're small and wouldn't show) - a high-cap mini funnel device, and a M92 gas mag 'thumb saver'. The funnel will work, but I'll probably lose it. The M92 doesn't fit my M9 mag (but probably will with some filing)... and I'll probably lose that too!

  45. Though at the price Dave Custom Airsoft is asking he can f*ck off. £340 for a budget E&L that retails for £190 elsewhere (WGC Shop)...There is only so far you can take the piss even if you are UK based. I would rather order from WGC and chance Border Control and added fees than pay £340.
