  1. Just got home from ai500 and had a cracking weekend! Definitely some hiccups and hurdles that will need to be smoothed out going forward. The good: Finally getting to play alongside the staff from Worthing for the first time in about 13 years, since skirmish weekends they are busy marshalling and running the site. Also, we were all staying in the same hotel, so the out of game social was amazing fun too. The site itself. The Citadel has some amazing potential for future ai500s. Out-ranging other AEGs with my 1.1J m21. Put a lot of effort into that build, so it's nice to see it paying off. Haha, AAP-01 go brrrr. No, seriously, I was only allowed to fire it semi-auto, but it was the first time I was using it and it was also out-ranging AEGs. Quality gun, that. Met some fantastic players on green team. Yeah, there were some absolute spanners, but the majority I spoke to seemed to be some really great guys and gals. Good arm workout. Carting that m21 around, then also having to pump up my tiny little HPA bottle not once, but twice! On that, I also worked out how many shots it's good for. The answer is around 500 BBs. More than enough for a normal game day, but when there are 200 targets and some gale force winds to deal with, I shoot a lot more shots The bad: The weather. I've never played in such piss poor weather before. 70+ mph winds and a torrential downpour for most of Saturday. Made it worse that the wind was blowing in our faces, so we couldn't see anything (and one guy in my team reported one of his BBs flew back at him after he fired it 🤣) Teething issues. Some stuff they did just... didn't work. I think they'll iron these out for future events, but as the maiden voyage for this site there were some definite issues with the gameplay. Some sketchy play. I'm looking down a scope, I can see my BBs bouncing off people and them just continuing like nothing is wrong. Too much pyro. I have no idea how many pyros the tans were throwing, but on Saturday I only died 6 times and they were all to grenades. I'd hazard a guess that multiple hundreds of grenades were thrown on Saturday alone People gave up early. At one point on Sunday we were outnumbered 4 - 1. Not allowing bolt action sniper rifles. There were so many looooooooooooooong sight lines that a 2.3J bolt action would've been incredibly useful. 1.48J DMRs isn't enough for those sight lines. Ol' reliable TM mk23 fell out of its holster and something snapped in the trigger unit when it hit the ground, so that's going to be a fun tech job to repair. Airsoft is a social hobby, so while the bad technically outnumbers the good, the good points were far more impactful than the bad.

  2. Good afternoon from Surrey, my names Tony. Recently taken a liking to airsoft after seeing loads of videos on YouTube. Few things I'm struggling with being a larger lad is clothing, 3xl upper and a 48 waist. If anyone has recommendations for clothing I'd be appreciated to hear them. To start the journey I've just bought myself a valken battle machine ec m4 and a valken avp17 pistol. Many thanks

  3. I had a moment exactly like Steve’s. Was turning up to games with Hi-Capa, Makarov, Sig and P99 mags depending on what holsters were on what rigging. Now it’s down to a nice clean trio of Capas My 4.3 is currently still running the stock slide but with an AM BBU its lightning fast. When the Battlecat finally arrives, in a funny way it’ll be a downgrade I was wrong about the other 4.3 STi slide I’m afraid. I had an image of it pre-anodising and the engraving was much more visible and the rebates less so. Still think it looks sexier in silver tho

  4. It's a slippery slope. TBH you're not massively far away from where I was when my train track logic kicked in. I had 2 MK23's, a TM G18C and the Hi Capa when I went HPA adapter on the capa. I then converted the mags to leightweight and the rationale was "well I've got so many pistols, lets standardise the platform" so I sold off all the none capa kit and opted to use a capa in every situation. Less screwing around with holsters (and adjusting every time you change pistol), 1 set of mags 1 set of internals to learn, easier keeping spares tp hand and then a couple of builds for varying uses.

  5. Get one of these and a pair of baggy cotton shorts. It's good enough to hunt bloody tigers in, it's fine for a game of airsoft.

  9. Couple of things to consider - get a better ventilated design of helmet - Team Wendy, Air Frame etc all vent better than a FAST helmet (I have all three styles) if you're dead set on putting fans in, take a look at what the cosplay guys do (it's pretty common in Stormtrooper helmets) https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/36631-how-to-diy-usb-helmet-fans-no-more-9v-or-aas/ think about things like where your battery will go (I'd suggest using an NVG battery holder on the back) make sure the helmet ventilates well in the first place - the cheap Emerson helmets come with a solid polystyrene liner, whereas the FMA ones come with individual pads for example

  10. i was also at the AI500 on the Tan team. met a few new people down there and got chatting, before we ended up putting up our camping gear next to one another so we could have a few drinks and some banter on friday night. as @Impulse stated, there were quite a few issues that need sorting out for future events, however he neglected to mention the big red flag.... there was no chronoing of weapons before anyone went out to play, and the marshalls said they would be spot checking in game and banning anyone found running a hot gun.... i didnt see anyone getting spot checked, nor did several other players i spoke with. i had assumed chrono would be done after the game brief as everyone headed to their CP or at the CP, so when they called game on i was pretty shocked, and i had to insist the marshals brought a chrono to the tan team command post to chrono my weapons before i would go off to play, but it still took them 10 or 15 mins to get there. after the marshall arrived a few other tan chronoed their guns too. saturday was going well, until the bad weather rolled in... the gale force winds made it almost impossible to hit anyone outside the buildings, and by the end of the day everyone looked (and felt) like drowned rats. the winds also demolished almost everyones tents on the camp grounds as they were set on high ground. a few people (including myself) had set their tents on a patch off ground between several buildings so we survived the worst of the storm. the organisers got the site owner to open up several buildings beside the campsite so people could move inside, an offer which everyone that stayed accepted so we had some shelter overnight and could get some semi-decent rest. this morning started off well, despite having to use damp gear from the day before, but after an hour or so the sun came out and the weather stayed warm for the rest of the day. Tans made a great push and managed to push greens back almost to their command post. unfortunately tempers began flaring on both sides, so a lunch break was called to allow everyone to cool down a bit before we all went back out, and greens made a slightly better push than the morning and came close to our command post. there was also a big issue caused inside a building known as "vipers nest", a 3 floor cell block. the rules stated that all mesh railings/fences etc on site were to be considered hard cover (no shooting through, no grenades through or over etc), and this included the anti-suicide nets strung across the cell block, onto which several camo sheets were placed. unfortunately one green player tried dropping a grenade through the anti-suicide net and setting one of the camo sheets on fire. after seeing this and calling for a cease fire i tried to summon a marshal, shouting that there was a fire, but it took a couple of minutes for the marshals to react, as there werent any inside the building. after the fire was put out and game resumed, the marshals declared no pyro in the building, but the message wasnt relayed evenly as several players still set off pyro in the building. saturdays game was called off early for safety reasons, but not before one of the tans slipped and injured themselves pretty bad (not sure what the injury was as there were several rumors doing the rounds). today also saw a green player dislocate their shoulder. both serious injuries and i hope they both recover quickly. as for the guns i was running; -my main rifle was my tippmann M4, and was running ok, but its still bedding in the new posiedon barrel an madbull red shark hop rubber, so not performing at its best -my main pistol was my EMG John Wick hi-capa. It was shooting hot on CO2, so i ran it on gas, but found that it didnt want to cycle at all on green gas on saturday or this morning, but worked well on red gas. i swapped back to green one the temperature started to rise, but only used it for a couple of shots in the afternoon - i ran my Northeast Sten MkII this morning, but only had a few mags. while i had ammo it was running well, but the game was too fast paced for me to spend ages at CP reloading mags, so i swapped it out for the AAP-01. the Sten was shooting well and i really wish i could have run it for longer. - i ran my AAP-01 with a drum mag, and just like Impulse, it was outranging most AEGs on site and firing laser straight... at least until i took a shot and the slide/bold jammed solid half open.. about to strip it now, and will post the results in the aap owners thread, but i suspect it has broken its hammer there was a lot of pyro thrown around, but i have to say that both sides were equally as guilty. plus in many instances a grenade was the only way to deal with a dug in enemy player (or several)

  18. I personally struggle to believe that 2000 were taken, that would take ages and you’d need a fair sized vehicle to put them in. Mimms isn’t the darkest quietest truck stop either. But that’s just my opinion 🤷🏼‍♀️ Regardless, it is a shame and I hope there’s no backlash on the community.

  23. I can't help but feel the fact so many were stolen means the chances of someone getting busted for it rises considerably. Now if it was a handful or a dozen or two dozen, probably easy to fly under the radar but 2000? That's 2000 opportunities for someone to fuck up. The smart play is to get them all out of the country and back into Europe. I can't see crims wanting to sit on 2000 rifs, nor can I see a good way to offload so many. Wishful thinking perhaps.

I actually always wear my watches face in, I find it easier and more comfy 😁 especially on the bigger G-Shocks 😁 I take your Dora watch and raise you a teletubbies watch 😉 only for engineers this one 😂 Yeahh I must admit that’s not the first time that’s happened, I wore my Apple Watch to work and the strap ended up splitting in half sending it about 30 feet down a valve pit to never be seen again 😂

  26. It looks bad, it seems bad, but this is every day stuff in 2021 UK. Dibble doesn't care about property theft. Nobody got sliced up a treat, and there's no boobs involved in this story, so it's going nowhere. Some pikeys - yes, hello, Thought Police, pikeys - ripped off a lorry, as they do multiple times a night, every night, with no consequences. The RIFs will be pawned off for pennies on the pound, passed on to 13 year old drug couriers, slung under a bed, forgotten about, or just pitched in a ditch. UK stocks will remain as low as they are for a bit longer, but this too shall pass. It's not the end of the world, or even the end of airsoft.

  29. These will be in car boot sales by Sunday, sold for £50 a pop. Much rather these than a batch of Glock 19's go missing, which will be much more likely to be used for serious crime rather than flogged to punters.

  30. I agree with Lozart that 25mmx25mmx7mm won't be sufficient for a helmet. Fine for direct ventilation of eyepro, but the 50mm "turbine" style blowers shift a lot more air.

  33. What makes me angry is that as airsofters we generally do our best to keep our rifs safe & away from reach under lock & key, because of the implications of them getting in to the wrong hands, yet these twats took the decision to move them in a soft sided vehicle, probably left parked overnight FFS. Thats seriously irresponsible 👿

  35. Ended up heading out for a game every weekend for the last 3 weekends (including yesterday). It's been forever since I've been anywhere close to that regularly, thoroughly enjoyed myself each time. 1st was a woodland game at Dagger Woods in Preston, only issue I had all day was ear pro not sitting comfortably and my trousers being too big. Opted to attach my Peltors to my helmet to fix the first issue, and some correctly sized trousers for the second. A very active day, Dagger is a very weird woodland site because it's pretty small so it feels very intimate. Lots of opportunities for flanks, and that is high on the list of shit I love. 2nd was for the second day of the 'Shift Your Rifts' event at Redcon-2, first games at a brand new sites often kinda suck for me. You have some decent engagements but I generally find I have no idea what's going on or where I'm supposed to be going. Unless a site is run like absolute garbage or I just get an sense that it really isn't for me I'll tend to try a site 2-3 times before I'd say it's actively bad, getting a feel for the lay of the land can really sway how enjoyable a site is for me. So yeah, a lot of aimless wandering. Ended up with a nasty muscle strain in my thigh in the morning from the very heroic act of... standing up from crouching a bit too quickly, boy do I love getting old. Back to warming up ahead of game days for me from now on. Took the rest of the morning off to have some painkillers and wander around to keep things as limber as possible, popped on a compression sleeve and played the afternoon keeping to a smaller section of the site. Corrections to kit worked out nicely. 3rd (yesterday) was back to Dagger Woods. Had a great time as I always do there, this being my 4th game at the site. Thigh was much better but I made sure to be 'responsible' around it, excluding game two where I decided to run around like a moron retrieving canisters... 9 of the teams 11 retrieved that game. Ok, I was more responsible about carrying an injury in the afternoon. Outside of that just a really solid day, good hit calling, good marshalling, all my kit behaved bar wiping about the QLS receiver for my holster doing a slide into cover retrieving 1 of the aforementioned canisters... like a twat. Fortunately the cheapest part of my holster setup to replace, so though I won't celebrate breaking something that's somewhat of a silverlining. Two week break now until I head back to Dagger Wood for their final game of this year (unfortunately the site is only open for a few months of the year), and then off to Com's Site 3 the weekend after that with the same group of friends from down South that I went to Redcon with. Thoroughly enjoying getting out and playing at the moment, long may it continue 🤞.

  36. Me three ! I do love a bit of TM when I wanna shoot my white load over someone ! 🥴 Was recommended to to partake of this thread simply for this mongtard as I don’t have an interest in gas rifles (so I was missing the party ) glad I did now , on a scale of “la la la I’m not listening !” To “it’s my ball so if you won’t let me score a goal I’m taking it home !” He’s definitely a solid “because my mummy said you must so there !” 🤦‍♂️ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  37. Urban Assault was my first site, i went loads of times. Great site, terrible marshalling and SUPER cliquey/boys club shit but the building to building firefights made up for all of it. Second place goes to the mall, terrible for airsoft in reality but it was so different and the people running it really put the effort in with the different game modes, always appreciated a silly one after a day of serious games (supermarket sweep!). Now it's just woodland, can't find an indoor site anyway. im bored of the woods
