  1. Or should that be big fuckupdate. Important stuff in bold. Between the late hours of 14/07/21 and middle of 16/07/21, AF-UK was offline. This was the longest downtime since migrating the site in 2018 and that shouldn't happen, sorry. This particular update was a major change that required revisions to the server running the forums (and not just the forum software itself), so it shouldn't happen again any time soon. Things to look out for As with any update the search is reindexed and parts of the database rebuilt in the background. The website may not be as quick to respond as you're used to during this 12-hour period starting from when this thread was posted The Classifieds module will be updated in the next 48 hours or so to bring it into line with the core forum software version. Please allow for issues during this time Expect general issues with the website until the site template has been updated This large update to IPS (the forum software) includes various new features. Achievements Yet to fiddle with this one or implement it at all - could be fun, could be really annoying. I would appreciate your patience on this one while I figure out a baseline and then see if it's complained about enough to warrant removal. Given the delays yesterday in getting the site online, I thought it more important to have things up and running rather than look into the detail of this update. I am aware of the issues with it not granting certain achievements that you should already have. This has not yet been set up and might well be removed entirely. Achievements are visible in your profile. In-browser notifications These have been expanded so you might get more than you used to (especially on a mobile device). I have tried to disable notifications until I can get a grasp on how annoying they might become, but this is a new update so may carry a few new ones. AF-UK app Part of the new update is IPS's testing of their app available in early testing on Android and iOS. We are an early user of it (no idea what criteria they base this on). You may be prompted to download the app, but note that very few things in this app are something that I can control. Who knows if the Classifieds will integrate at all. Edit 1: As of 16/07/21 - this appears to not be working. You can see us in the app but not load the forums. I've asked IPS if they can find out what's wrong. Edit 2: As of 17/07/21 - I've been told that the app is currently offline - nothing to do with us and it is in early testing. Should be back some time soon?

  3. How long is a piece of string? The unfortunate truth is that the pressure of the gas varies with temperature and so your power output will fluctuate accordingly. You may find that the lower pressure gas creates a new issue and causes the gun to intermittently fail to cycle or vent. Best solution here, shorter barrel. It’s un-DMRing time

Yeah, it's a plastic outer barrel held by three tiny screws to a plastic frame. It's not suitable to hold a whole frontend. These kinds of frontends should be free float, as on M4s. Maybe try to build a rigid frame by connecting the top rails of the stock and the frontend with a very long metal rail riser.

  12. Well, that escalated appropriately.

  13. yeah but it's a tm, tm's are incapable of firing beyond 1j no matter how much internal work you do to them. this is a known and established fact.

  14. It's entirely unfair to speculate based on incomplete scraps of 2nd hand information. But I'll go ahead and do it anyway: of course he did. Why he's still allowed on any UK site at this point just baffles me. The Depot CQB sodded Dan Wesson style shell loading revolvers off completely after they caught multiple folk doing exactly this, chronoing with power-down then loading the stock shells. It's unfair on the people who use them with the power-down shells, I don't particularly agree with it on principle, but in practice it's a wonder that any chrono cheating sociopaths get caught at all. The elephant in the bunker for me is Mk23s with barrel extensions hidden inside silencers being used without a MED when they can be putting out 1.5J or more. And we know who likes to use those.

  15. I'm fairly sure this is a wind up, but out of the goodness of my artificial heart, I'll repeat the suggestion to rent first, then only buy later. It'll cost you £10 - £15 more on top of the cost of the BBs that you'll use, and for that you'll get a reasonably effective electric carbine (and support for it) rather than some market stall tat. You'll also get some mesh eyepro that won't steam up like your DIY glasses almost certainly will. You don't need a backpack, or a helmet. You certainly don't need to dress up for attention, although folk do (ahem). But they're generally people who've played and know what to expect, rather than bringing expectations into it that aren't to do with the core process of shooting and being hit by bits of plastic. I'd do that first, then decide if you want to start monkeying around.

  16. Saw this for sale today, and am a bit tempted. Looks the part and under £100, I think it's an older model though, so I'm not sure about availability of spares, and how easy it would be to find a replacement mag? Not sure if I fancy it, if it's only going to be a wall hanger. Anyone got any experience with this model?

  17. e&l's own or real steel will fit (usual ak fettling notwithstanding). careful with aftermarket/other brand handguards as they may well be too short. really shoulda tried the lct handguards for fit while i had it, not sure if they're the short pattern or not. not much you can do for the stock, if you were going tactical then the newer designs (pt5, pt3 etc) would be fine.

  18. yeah it's pretty common, normally 3 rings wrapped around a spring. ofc having a bit of space for gas isn't the worst thing in the world.

  19. That's the correct way to do it. But you actually have to do it, not talk a good game. You either assume that everybody is honest and informed, or you assume that there's a Licking Custard out there, and you need to chrono and test shot absolutely everything and everybody, on the field, early and often. If you're going to half-arse it, you might as well not be arsed at all.

  20. Yes shorten the barrel, install an NPAS or just use a lower power gas like R144a

Mmm, it does look tight, but if you're holding it close then your off-hand will be going around the drum at an angle, so I reckon you can make it work. Worst case you could bin off the standard grip and put a tacticool one on there, like this one from PatrolBase.

  26. I really like revolvers. Some argue they're crap and unskirmishable, I heartedly disagree. Anyway, let's see them, I always need more ideas on what to buy. Umarex SAA, carbine project. 16" barrel being made, along with other mods. Uberti 1860 stock, just happens to fit really nicely. It'll all be refinished. Marushin SAA. Nice enough but it's no Tanaka. Tanaka Bisley. An odd looking thing but really nice shooter.

  29. Got this beauty in the post yesterday. It's only a galaxy but feels solid enough. I was expecting a two tone as the website didn't ask for a defence, but this turned up😁. I rang the shop to let them know and they said it was a technical fault on the website and thanked me for letting them know

  38. Hi all, please forgive me if I have posted this in the wrong section. Recently I posted a wanted advert up for a GBBR G28 The next day I was contacted by a member Dannywill (danielwill###@#####.com) who said he had one and that I should email him. it all seemed very good I asked him for some pics and he sent a load through it was a good deal, said he had recently broken his back and just wanted rid of most of his collection. He wanted a pick up but would post if needed but he was in Thurso in Scotland (the southern most tip) I agreed to by the rifle but said I would only pay via pay pal as the forum has advised me not to do bank transfers. He agreed but said “I'm presently having some technical hitches with my Paypal but my son is here to help me with his Paypal, Kindly let me know when you're ready to proceed with the purchase so I can send you the paypal address you will make the payment to.” Red flag No.1 So I asked for his phone number just as a back up but then he sent me this. ”Here's the paypal address you will make the payment to, ongoloerick@#####.com , Kindly make payment via family and friends, and please include your contact information and shipping address in the next mail. Thanks Daniel Wilson, ###### Crescent, Bettyhill,Thurso #### 819 334 #####” Strange I thought that’s not a UK number and so I checked the paypal and it only accepted $ USD I pushed him on it and said I would have to speak to him on the phone before I would send any money and that the phone number he had provided seemed not to work to which he replied. ”My phone is bad Sam, it accidentally fell of while in water while cleaning an hot water tank rupture I had on Monday, I think I will get a new phone once I had some cash on me.” It was getting more dodgy by the message I asked him again for a number to which he sent another American number saying it was his son who was over from America to look after him after breaking his back. I told him I’m not giving him any money and at which point he called me from an phone number in Great Falls Montan USA and was even more sketchy on the phone. I said to email me a picture of a utility bill or junk mail with the address he had given me on it to which he refused. He then kept calling me from the same Montan number demanding I Pay. He told me he would right my name on a bit of paper next to the rifle but never sent it this would only prove he had a G28 not that it was in Scotland. his last message was as follows “Sam, How I Wish you Know me personally, you would really no am a man of my word, My Son Eric is a student in the USA, he has only been home to take care of me since I had an accident if you doubt this, I would advice you to come for a pickup, I will be waiting for you right in the front of my house or you make half payment and if you refuse to balance me up after receiving the goods on your end, I will filed up a case against you, let me know if you're okay with this” I never replied. We then found an advert from October 2020 with the exact same description and pics that he had sent but collection from Bedford. we contacted the original seller from the 2020 advert who assured us it was sold in 2021. He was pissed they had used his images as part of a scam and reported the guy. This is just a warning to other to be very careful when buying stuff and if anything seem even remotely dodgy don’t do it!!! and to the mods please look in to this and ban Danny Will! Some pics attached.

    G5's in Black Widow

Interesting stuff. I'm actually a little surprised that they used blank firers, given how prevalent CGI is now. See: Thor Ragnarock. Obviously upgraded to Asgardian technology...

    G5's in Black Widow

I was one of the armourers on Black widow and can cofirm they were section 5 G5s set up to fire blank. Not GHK The Glock 26 firing on the bridge was an umarex, the only airsoft used in the film.

    Sixmm.Com Review

It's asiaairsoft rebranded (you can see plenty of terrible reviews of them on the first page of Google). I used them quite extensively a few years back but it got to the point where they sent the wrong item pretty much every time and communication was so bad that I had to go to the trouble of opening a dispute and couriering the item back to them.
