  2. I'd honestly say you're better off going by yourself the first few times, ask people about their guns, about 95% of airsoft players love talking about their stuff so talk to them about it. It's the easiest way of getting to know other players! I've never been to a site which is even vaguely hostile to new lone players, it's simply not in anyone's interests, they need new blood to keep going!

    UK Tactical

I have just purchased the Warrior Assault Systems Falcon chest rig in A-TACS FG camouflage. UK Tactical had a promotion offering 30% reduction on a selection of chest rigs a few weekends ago as well as a further 10% discount throughout July using code 'Month10' . They even included two free Double NSR magazine pouches as part of their sale, and these retail at £13 each. The total cost was £53.95, which was great value. I have yet to test the kit out at a skirmish but it certainly looks and feels like a quality product. Free P&P was included and the courier delivered exactly when stated. I received emails and texts with information on when the courier would arrive. Could not ask for a better service, and from my experience would highly recommend UK Tactical.

  4. Been airsofting for years and want to try sniping. I'm going to get a Nineball hop rubber and this: This should give me te accuracy I need for now. What about power? Shall I get a higher power spring like an M150 to take me up to around 490 FPS?

  11. CIV-POP is a military term for civilian population and its often used in milsims to describe people playing civilians in the game. These characters are normally actors who play the role of non-combatants in a game. It can take many forms from Afghan pashtun villagers to VIPs to be protected. For example, in the first Okto Eight game we had President Gretsky of Moldistan and his trusty bodyguard. The rebels had to ambush his opening of the Titanium mine and attempt to assasinate him. They failed. The government forces did an excellent job of escorting him, despite an RPG attack which took out their vehicle. Last game, we had a farmer on a tractor wearing an IED around his neck and begging the teams to help him. Whatever the role, CIV-POP can really keep players on their toes.

  12. Best thing to get is a well built aeg that shoots just as far but is full auto and has no engagement distance. Was looking at a dmr not long ago that someone had put lots of time and money into and had locked it to single fire. It got about 5 metres more range than my gun and was no more accurate (I actually thought less accurate but didnt get chance for a proper test) and I only have a 247mm barrel length. I actually think the whole sniper rifle/dmr thing is a bit of a waste in airsoft.

  17. Imho, a GBBR is simpler than an AEG by a long way, though needs a little more love to run well. The maintenance isn't hard by any stretch of the imagination, and I only spend about 10 or 15 minutes with my G5 after each skirmish I'm probably looking for at least 300 or 350, throwing in 5 posh PTS mid caps instead of the two ICS high caps, battery box, four Lipo batteries, an sa80 one point sling and an sa80 three point sling

  21. take the jump and go!.....i waited (or wasted!!) years, im talking since 2001 to actually get to a site (other factors were involved, work, family, sport, hesitant etc ), due to that, the law changed, places closed, new ones popped up!. Ive been once so far and will be going back after the summer hols, a few places now in mind, 6 i think, all within an hours drive so ideal to mix it up! agree with the guys about talking, i found a few were a little 'not wanting to talk much' but others wouldnt stop, you get a great mix which is why its so fun! don't hold back, you'll regret it, i have!, go go go and don't look back! fixed spelling mistake and 'wouldnt stop corrected!

  22. I have ordered from them twice. First was fine, the second time I ordered an UBAC and they sent a gigantic one. Then they tried to convince me that it was my fault (it wasn't) and it took quite a few emails to send me the correct one. I "just" had to pay for one extra postage even though they wrote the sizes wrong. But the quality of their stuff is great.

  23. I have a BD multicam battle belt with mtp mag pouches on it. It depends how much you care about your patterns matching, mtp is slightly darker where as the bulldog mc is a lighter, busier, sharper lined pattern. Ive got about four different brands of multicam and mtp, for me the work fine, although i dont wear alot of camo as its redundant at airsoft ranges

  25. I agree with Adam! I have gone 4 times and my most recent time I was alone. Like Adam said it is in everyone's interest to be friendly to each other (Even though tempers may flame on the field due to supposed cheaters). Going alone will certainly give you chance to speak to people about their gear, in the safe zone don't stay at your spot, walk about, more than likely people will say hello.

  26. Most milsims have this. Some of the Gunman ones allow hi-caps but Okto is mid or low cap only. Many of our first timers are horrified at only being allowed to carry 600 rounds on them in mags, but once they play we find that many of them like it. When sides are equipped equally ammo-wise, a lot of contacts end up being semi-auto or short bursts to conserve ammo and shots need to count. We also use different regen rules which means players really dont want to get shot, so their behaviour is a bit closer to real life.

  30. Very large rifle. Would suggest you see one in the flesh before buying. A lot of new players are drawn towards being a sniper. Unless you really are sure its a style you are going to like, I would be wary. Many are drawn by the mystique but get bored of waiting around a long way from the action. If you want to play an active role but are drawn towards that style of gun, there are lots of smaller DMR on the market. Gear depends on what role you want to play in games.

    Not taking hits?

I think gear doesn't make a big diff if it's static woodland play with people mostly hiding behind trees. You have the space, lack of distraction and movement to ensure you're aware you've been hit and then it's a conscious choice. Any keen snipers out there will probably beg to differ, and fully appreciate that if people aren't aware they're under attack from a direction then clothing can be a huge hindrance to them feeling a hit. However CQB at places like The Mall, there's far too much noise, chaos and far too much running around. Often have issues with people in all the gear not feeling hits. It happens when they're stood still, but that's mostly due to me shooting them on the edges of their person due to them being to big in said outfit to fully fit/hide behind things, or me shooting them from a direction they're not paying attention to, and it hitting any part of the clothing/kit too thick to instantly feel pain from, then it takes several hits to get their attention. The main time people in lots of gear seem to universally not feel hits is when they're running/jogging, the whole setup is bashing against them and making so much noise/friction against the skin they can't tell if a 6mm plastic ball hit them or not unless you hit them many times or get a lucky shot in an Achilles heal of the outfit. I think for anyone it can be hard to feel a hit when you're running, it's just having a thick pile of clothing on definitely significantly reduces your odds of an already tough thing to notice. The only solution i found to this is overkill, anyone running gets a total peppering until they stop and raise their hand, you can tell when someone has felt the hit and is in the process of doing so, so i try not to be too brutal. This is when I mainly get the added ROF use out of my high-cycle TM's, spraying people dashing between doorways. I don't think I've seen a single person in full combat gear take the hit based on the first BB that hit them while they're jogging/running, it takes the noise or pain from a burst of full-auto. I don't want to have to waste time firing half a dozen shots at someone for them to feel it, in all the common scenarios mentioned above, this extra time spent shooting them more than once is usually what results in me being shot, either by their immediate team-mates or by someone in another group who's attention i just gained. What really fucks me off is when i've snuck into a room with a bunch of guys, then i only have time to give them one or two shots each before they can turn and fire back. Every single damn time one of them wont feel it because I've hit their PC or similar, and will shoot back at me as they only heard the noise of me firing. Then i have to take the hit and my act of sneaky awesomeness denied, because trying to argue 'no you were already hit' is generally pointless. Sometimes if I'm trying to rush through somewhere I don't take the hit due to them already being hit, but then I'm left feeling dirty like i cheated from their repeated glances to see if i was taking the hit or not... I don't think there's anything to be done about it, shouldn't ban plate carriers and the like or anything, everyone needs to carry their mags around somehow. Just wish people were more self-aware and if they have enough experiences of not noticing they were hit then that they were prepared to look for lighter alternatives like a belt and only carrying enough kit to last one game rather than a nuclear apocalypse

    Not taking hits?

I don't think i've been to a game where there haven't been at least a couple of people cheating. The problem always is that cheaters will always start taking their hits the minute a marshal stands near them, the best solution is to get marshals to test shoot people. They just need to not be dopey and test shoot the same person 5 times in a day, otherwise people will understandably get pissed off. As far as gear goes, i dunno about anyone else but I most commonly get shot in the arms and face as you have to expose them to shoot. I have seen much more of a link between non hit taking and the person being a cheat than anything gear related. It's already been mentioned that a lot of the hit taking accusations end up just being people not in range. I used to do this but now only chalk it up to cheating if I am well in range and can generally see the shots bouncing. When I run my LMG I generally keeping shooting people until they put their hand up. I've had multiple instances of marshals actually telling the other players to take their hits or to make it clear they are hit if they don't want to keep being shot. Generally speaking though it's not too much of a problem, just calmly report people including what they are wearing to marshals. If nothing really gets done it might be worth considering another site.

    Not taking hits?

Its a common problem. Some sites are better than others in that some dont care too much or have favourite cliques which can do no wrong. Without naming names, Ive seen some sites come down very hard with schoolboy talkings to and marshals shooting suspects anonymously to see if the accused really are guilty. The only way to do something about it is to vote with your feet. If you experience it, complain to the organisers. If it doesnt get sorted in a reasonable time frame, play somewhere else.

    Not taking hits?

The biggest reason for non hit taking is the amount of gear people wear. Some people have so much kit and protection on they just dont feel it. I am sure there must have been times when someone has hit my mag pouches and I havent felt it but others take it to the extreme with thick plate carriers and even backpacks and dont get me started on the hard shell crowd. If people would just thin down their gear it wouldnt be such an issue.

    Not taking hits?

Airsoft relies on people taking their hits, otherwise it'd devolve into a sadomasochistic event where people just shoot each other until someone uses the safety-word or has to change their underpants. In my experience, everyone who plays airsoft regularly has the right idea about taking hits and how to behave in their mind. However, many people aren't used to adrenaline, or any shade of combat, and many people can behave in a manner they're hopefully embarrassed about once the juices get going. People can get trapped in the moment, and the most common kind of non-hit-taking i witness is those who don't acknowledge the hit until their current purpose has been completed (like the person they're shooting at taking the hit). Then the logic side of the brain takes back over from caveman and order ensues. There's nothing airsoft can do to stamp it out other than turning it into laser-quest, or making everyone use tracers, or have 1 marshal per person like in some those mental Japanese tournaments I've seen online. The best thing the community can do is to make the process of taking the hit seem easier and more enjoyable. This is achieved by all those good-sporting types who congratulate people when hit and cheerfully skip back to re-spawn. Kudos to you all, I try, but sometimes barely able to squeak 'hit' let alone any kind of congrats (the arm goes up with a raised thumb on reflex now, I've beaten the paintball urge to check my clothing for marks finally hehe)

  45. I saw you post this on Zero In, and I must echo the sentiment of the above and the guy that replied to you there too: Moderating sales like that is incredibly hard because the value of many of these items is just subjective. One mans trash is another ones treasure and all that. The help is here though; if anyone is unsure then they can always ask. If people don't do their research then I'm afraid they run the risk of getting ripped off, but that's life unfortunately.

  47. TBH even if you go to The Mall as a team, you'll spend a lot of the day standing around waiting for each other if you try to stick together and need full comms to stand a chance of it happening. Even with that you'd have to be regular and know the layout very well otherwise the comms chat will go like i often witness; "I'm spawned, where are you guys?" "We're in a shop" or "In the basement" or "Upstairs" "Where exactly" "Erm if you go past this bit and that bit then we're there" "Which bit is that? I can see this bit but not that bit?" "Hello?" (all just been shot) At The Mall it's more a case of turning up on the same day and having a good chin-wag over a ciggy in the breaks between games, or occasionally running into someone you recognize and going in the same direction until one you gets hit. There's no forum team but often see whoose going when. Always happy to help someone find their feet there, and with 100-120 players each weekend (rarely the same ones) you'll have no trouble finding people to tag along with / chat to in safe-zone
