Whats's Your Weakness?
Cr0-Magnon and 3 others reacted to ghostwalker for a topic
Well lads and lasses. If fitness is your current weakness there is hope. Just before lockdown began I got back into running. By back into it I mean ‘stumbling around breathing out of my arse’. but apparently it is working. Since I started back at it I have dropped over 1stobe in weight 15’4 down to 14’3 (in 5’7 and fairly broad shouldered and fat). Not only that but I have slowly pushed the sunday run days to try and go further. 5k/3ish miles to start. Then upto 10k/6ish miles. And today for the first time. Half marathon distance 13 miles or just over 20k. now I am no gazelle more a slightly irritated hippo and if I can do it. Anyone can (I used to hate running with passion).4 points -
Kicking Mustang, SO Whats the Story?
Speedbird_666 and 2 others reacted to Skara for a topic
Tbh it makes sense to use high caps and a lot of full auto in the woods. It's not cqb where you shoot at people 5/10 metres away with a clean line of sight, in the woods there are branches, leaves, sticks, vegetation to go through, wind to take into account. Plus the distances are much longer, so having multiple bbs going the same way ensures a higher chance of hitting what you're shooting at. This whole "LeArN 2 EiM" bullshit may apply to real steel target shooting or, as mentioned above, cqb, but since we're all slinging tiny featherweight plastic balls out of modernized, low powered muskets, full auto is the way to go. Also it's less stuff to carry. One full high cap weighs much less than 3 midcaps and takes less space3 points -

Yeah i've said the same thing before myself (as someone who has played the sport for quite some time, fluctuating between 42 waist and potato fitness to 32 waist and fit as a fiddle) - being in shape makes such a difference on game days, and what's more the sport becomes way more enjoyable; not only because of your endurance levels through the day, but for everything involved in the sport.. running back and forth from spawn after getting hit is a great example, it's a killer when you are out of shape and can even put you off for the day, but get that fitness up and you just take those little things in your stride.. rush back to the front and still be rearing to go.2 points

Just saw this movie on Netflix (out since July 10th) and quite liked it. Without giving too much away, apart from some unconventional plot elements (if you've seen it you know what I mean) the gunplay in the fighting scenes is quite fun to watch. 8/10, would recommend.1 point -

Flight time / time-to-target is also a consideration. For sniping (where time and being covert are on your side) longer TTT is fine. (although shorter pro-rata due to increased FPS) For an assault primary / secondary at circa 328fps/1Joule then 0.28 - 0.30g make the most sense. If you are regularly shooting medium distances then 0.36 in your auto capable primary really shine at 50M+ I mean snap shots and opportune moments are usually missed by a slow travelling BB.1 point

I get the logic, but luckily i seem to have avoided hose session events. Dont get me wrong in woodland you do need a 'burst' to allow for 'the law of averages/leaves', but constant firing clearly doesnt imply to me good accuracy/combat skill/timing 🤔 I cannot stand the maracca's or the constant winding! Plus i love a tactical reload its half the fun! Rather carry BBs and a speed loader out back then if i run out i can reload all mags and crack on 😁1 point -

Instead of playing and cursing people for not calling hits, I decided to do some teching today. The point was to install a Warfet and replace the hop rubber on the AK. Did the absolute worst solder/routing job ever done, the hop C-Clip snapped in half and I've glued it back together, the box is not really aligned with the hop chamber. If Luke saw what I have done to this gun, he'd beat me to death with a stick dipped in horse shit. When it shits itself it's gonna go to a really good Italian tech.1 point

Asia Electric P320 Help / Hop Unit
Enid_Puceflange reacted to Cyberlawyer for a topic
I don’t think there is a direct aftermarket replacement for that part. With some minor modification you should be able to glue a maple leaf I-Key in there and assuming it is glued in straight that should fix the problem. you might need to change the hop rubber too as the I-key is designed to work with maple leaf hop rubbers, but a maple leaf Autobot 50 degree bucking is a solid upgrade in any case.1 point -

This. I had a million (slight exaggeration) Mid-caps in pouches on various plate carrier, chest and belt rig setups. Fine for semi-only CQB, but the fun wore off quickly playing woodlands when the merest twig or leaf would ruin things. I now just roll with a couple of Hi-Caps, one in the gun, the other in a dump pouch and a bag of BB's in my pocket like a proper rental punter.1 point -
I tend to use whatever is in my primary to save messing about. If you are within MED then any weight is going to be accurate for that 20-25 meters.1 point

This is a review of the Galaxy MP5K as stock. Pros: It's super cheap. Very light. 310fps out of the box. Comes with a 200 round hi-cap, a usable NimH battery and a burn-your-house-down charger. You can HK-slap it. Very nearly as handy as a pistol, with very nearly a carbine's range. Works well in CQB or as a sniper-secondary, if you've got the drop on your target. Takes pretty much any generic MP5 magazine: high, mid or real cap. The V3 gearbox is solid, and has no inherent issues. Will hop 0.25g. The full-auto ROF isn't too bad. Cons: The fire-selector is sloppy, and wants flipped to full them back to semi in order to click in. Might just barely hop 0.28g, but don't bet on it. The push-pull lever hop unit loves to slacken off, and needs tightening up, or cable tie the hop-arm to the barrel. Very plastic, lots of ping in the spring, and creak-and-flex in the foregrip. "Very-nearly" isn't the same as same as exactly. It's not quite a pistol, nor quite a carbine. If you HK-slap, the HK-slap will break sooner rather than later. Just bin it and fit a decent long lipo down the tube. The stock motor is very weak, and the delay between pulling the trigger and shooting the BB can be put on your calendar. A long, lonnnnnnnnng trigger pull, which isn't trivial to sort out. In combination with the insipid motor, this means that you'll never win a CQB face-off. Overall: You can have a ton of fun with this very cheap, light toy gnu out of the box. It can be upgraded, but the trigger pull and semi-auto response will remain problematic. Lipo, mosfet and a decent long-shaft motor will sort most of the cons, except for the trigger response. Should you though?: At the price, sure. Loads of laughs for the money.1 point

Well, thats another quarantine project done. Introducing the HK 417a2. It started life as two G28s; G28 LE #227 and G28 standard #IDontCareEnoughToCheck. #227 was my original G28 LE that Ive had for awhile, but it just kind of sat around as it was heavy, loud, and comparatively ineffective at range compared to my other DMRs. I wanted to upgrade it, but I wasn't sure what to do. Then comes the standard. I bought the standard off a secondhand airsoft app in November of 2019. It was a bastardization of a 417 and G28 - G28 receivers, grip, and outer barrel, but 417 buffer tube, stock, and rail. I didnt really care as it was dirt cheap and already had some decent upgrades in it. Turns out I should have cared, as not a month later the lower receiver cracked. Real bad. It may be repairable but itll be obvious. So I was left with a semi-upgraded but broken G417 and a stock G28 LE. Now, between these two I built a 417 for a mate. I believe I posted it here, but it involved making a custom fitting to mount a PTS UBR stock to it. I looks good, and works well. It also gave me some experience building 417s that I didn't have before, and it gave me an appreciation for the "Battle Rifle" class of weapon. Essentially, a BR is a carbine-length DMR. This would include short-barreled AR-10s, Scar mk17s, etc. In airsoft you follow rifleman rules. It just looks fancier. Around this time I started toying with the idea of creating my own BR, but in typical Spaz fashion it had to kind of stand out. Knowing how much of a pain VFC mk17s are to upgrade, I shied away from them, but 417s are expensive, with an approx $450 price tag. Add in the $500ish in internals I would have to do to field it and things weren't looking too good on that front either... Plus, there arent many aftermarket externals for the VFC 417s, and my squadmate already runs the one I built him. Then this broken G28 shows up and I had an idea... Until this year, I always preferred my guns having a dedicated setup. My M27 stays as it is, its sights are zeroed, I dont pull attachments from other guns, etc. However, with me recently turning my VFC Jag Arms PHX-15 SBR (see previous page) into a hybrid Krytac LMG with a second upper, I started thinking of doing the same with my G28 LE. I mean, if I built a lower based around trigger response why wouldn't it work in a DMR as well as a BR? So I began working on it. In this period I saw the news from SHOT that HK had revamped their 417 program into a new model - the HK 417a2. Shiny, new, not made in airsoft to date, and best of all - in RAL8000, just like my spare G28 receivers. So to begin I stripped the 417 sniper parts off the standard and sold them. No need for them, so why not. Ill make someone else happy. Bought a 417 short rail off someone selling one. Ordered a short outer barrel and gas impingement system from VFC. Started asking for quotes from various techs I trust on AEG gearboxes. Started looking into HPA as well, cause why not. Decided to go HPA as it'd be about the same cost, and more importantly, much quieter. Ordered a REVO kit from Italy (3D printed kit that allows the G28 to take aftermarket triggers, more HPA engines, standard M4 hops, and more). Ordered one of the new Wolverine Reaper Gen 2 Premium engines. Ordered a speed trigger, the internals needed to make the revo kit work, and an r-hopped barrel from the guy I always get my barrels from. Then it was onto externals. Ordered a fully trademarked Eotech XPS, G33 magnifier, KAC irons (closest I could find to gen 2 HK 417 irons - wasnt going to pay that much for the real thing - the rear sight alone is $300...), a Magpul AFG, a Surefire M600DF, and one of my signature blue-lasered PEQs. Rail arrived, and it sent it off with another project that will be unveiled here soon to be cerakoted in RAL8000. Rail returns, and most attachments come in. Decide I need a case, so pick up a Eylar 53in rifle case. Big, but i figured I'd need it. Case arrives, REVO kit arrives, Reaper arrives, bipod ordered and arrives. Install what I can, but Im still waiting for the order from VFC. Rest of the externals come in. Barrel from VFC finally arrived this morning, so in it went, gun went together, foam was plucked, and the HK 417a2/G28 project was complete. Now I can switch back and forth from G28 or 417a2 on the field depending on the role I want to play. The REVO kit also allows for full auto, so if the game allows it that is available. A fun project, a real head-turner (I hope), and it should have excellent range and accuracy. Im happy. Every part that should be is also trademarked, which really adds to the overall look.1 point -

What's even worse is that his videos are popular enough that they appear in more mainstream media like Ladbible (note I said "mainstream", not "good"). That makes his stuff the public face of airsoft. The most recent one I spotted was him "punishing" people for not wearing full face protection by purposely hitting them in the face with his SRS. I reckon airsoft has enough of a stigma with the realistic guns and military gear without this guy making us look like thugs.1 point -

This is a NanoHARD mosfet with a 11.1v Li-Ion in the gas tube as far as it will go 😁 Carefully measured out the new motor wires and laid it out on the gearbox shell to make sure. Leads on the battery were shortened a bit too as I was swapping them to Deans anyway. NanoHard had all the features I wanted but the WarFet looks really good. Gun is a loaner / Milsim OPFOR / messing about so it does the job. Snappy even on a 7.4v and active brake works well. Nice to know the trigger contacts won't burn out either!1 point -
Laylax Going Full Ham on a Gearbox Shell?
Pappa Large reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
i'll be honest i dont think beyond a complete shake up of the internals of an aeg that there's anything inherently wrong with the basic split design. quick change spring is absolutely a wonderful thing that should be mandatory, but i can't think of any advantage to that setup that couldn't be solved by simply making a standard design out of good materials and quality manufacturing. for the kind of builds that box is aimed at, you're going to be spending hours getting everything perfect, or using parts that fit nicely from the get go, so saving time in the assembly process is kind of a moot point that doesn't even solve the usual problem of getting the trigger and arl to sit nicely while lining up the gears with the other half.1 point -
