Spare parts for rare guns
TheFull9 and 2 others reacted to HuttArmouries for a topic
As far as I know having held a firearms license for quite a few years only pressure bearing components of a gun are controlled so bolt, barrel, receiver. Triggers and fire control mechanisms are not controlled in the uk and that isnt really relevant as making parts for toys is not making parts for guns3 points -
So coming out of IWA this week we had a tasty little preview of what looked to be a .308 variant of the MTW. A lot of people consider MTWs to be the best HPA platforms, since they're built for it and tend to come out at pretty high quality, so another variant that isn't just an AR-15 will be welcome (even if it's only an AR-10). I'll be interested to see where this goes, as I do like my .308 guns and I'd like to do a build with a tank in the stock, but will see how things develop as we know very little at the moment.2 points

Humpin’ junk in ya trunk. The butt pack!
gavinkempsell and one other reacted to Impulse for a topic
I have one on my Vietnam belt kit, but it doesn't feel like the most secure pouch. I've used it to carry an HPA tank one time, but when I use it I just stick extra scrim net in there for VC sneaky shenanigans. I mostly use it as a central attachment point for the harness. If I was to use this kit for normal skirmish, I'd probably need to use the butt pack more for BBs, gas etc, but I'd be constantly worried that it's going to fall out. Not an issue for Vietnam games due to ammo limits, so I have to go back to respawn to re-ammo anyway, but at a skirmish game or other event without ammo limits (or with higher ammo limits), this could be a concern...2 points -

I do have 7.4's but my CRB has had a fair bit of work done to it to support 11.1s. Gearbox was upgraded, piston has metal teeth is memory serves me right with a gate titan v2 as well. If the 11.1's do cause a damage, it's just an excuse to get more work done to it.2 points

Decided to try and make my airsoft loadout in Ghost Recon Wildlands. I'd just started a new playthrough as well so had to do a bit of work to get the correct rifle (or as close as anyway) Bonus safety briefing pic (hence the wearing of glasses and not goggles) Quite like this one but I've been told I look like an American patriot/proud boy. Also, my last game before finally upgrading to a plate carrier. Photo's of that soon (hopefully).2 points -

Spare parts for rare guns
m1sterS reacted to HuttArmouries for a topic
So recently I grabbed a tokyo marui type 89 and I had seen lots of videos of the nozzle mangling itself so I designed and 3d printed a copy of the tm part. It works just as well as the original and I can replace it indefinitely. This isn't the fist time I've done something like this and im even in the process of designing my own nozzles and fire control mechanisms from the ground up. So the question is if I offered a service of copying parts in rare guns and making spares or replacements would anyone be interested in that sort of thing? Obviously 3d printing has its limitations but theres no reason that when I have a printed part done the file cant be handed over to a cnc machining company or such particularly for trigger mechanism components.1 point -

The Waco Kid reacted to The_Lord_Poncho for a topic
Back in the days of black and white when I wore british 58 pattern webbing, the rear Kidney Pouches suffered from the same issue. The solution then was to put everything in a plastic tub, and then inside the pouches. I'd imagine a more up to date solution would be to use a small canoe sack/stuff sack to keep it all together, and reduce the likelihood of bits falling out.1 point -

I thought that that was a plate from Grogan's Cape to Cairo, but its a bit earlier and bloody fascinating: https://digitalcollections.nypl.org/collections/savage-africa-being-the-narrative-of-a-tour-in-equatorial-southwestern#/?tab=about Has unicorns in apparently. Love the look of outrage on the gorilla's face, and its over emphasised opposable big toes. Here's Grogan showing how to get directions from pygmies:1 point -

Type 89 nozzle is done and with a few internal tweaks and some finer print settings its now giving me the same fps and consistency as the tm original piece. Going to be running it this weekend and just dumping mags through it every now and again to see how long it lasts.1 point -
he hee....he said butt! I have three, one green nylon, one woodland and one of those god awful modern versions where all the straps and buckles are in the wrong place. Definitely interesting to see the "what goes around" happening in the resurgence of belt kits and indeed, butt packs, with the Spiritus LBE expander, the Mayflower/Velocity Jungle rig, the Platatac belt kits and of course, good old British belt order kit (which never really went away to be fair).1 point

It's crap. My MOE fixed stock slides beautifully onto the buffer tube with zero wobble whatsoever. This is wobblier than a wobbly thing and I don't want to use tape to shore it up (the usual velcro mod doesn't work with it either). This is intended as an entry level Precision Rifle stock, but in reality it's useless for that. So I am now going to test Brownells UK returns policy...🙄1 point -

It’s definitely snappier than my gen3 I only got mine delivered yesterday afternoon, and noticed the paint on the mag is scuffing quite a lot (not that it’s important) But that’s only about 20 to 30 mag entry & releases I do like the faux steel coloured slide And removed the lanyard loop, and swapped to a back strap more in size for me Overall, I like it1 point -

Limited play time so far bud as was at the British shooting show last weekend up at the NEC and the weather appears to be perpetually shite. It's my fave Marui pistol now though. Very lively in the hand. Although that might just be 'new thing blinkers' 🤣 Thanks for that.. gonna take a peek...1 point -

How to you carry your 209 Primers on the field?
Shamal reacted to Tactical Pith Helmet for a topic
They will strike from underneath given enough of a whack, or a direct strike to the base of the anvil. You really want the base of the primer (bit with the hole) covered as that's where the brisant material will explode from. Look at a fired cartridge that has been hit by a firing pin that is too long. The pin will pierce the striker and the metal of the pin will be burnt to such an extent that the hardening goes and it becomes pitted and brittle. The pierced metal face of the primer will be burned black as it has been exposed to such high temps. Now imagine that amount of heated material hitting human skin. If a primer goes off in your hand for example, it will likely leave a disabling amount of damage. I know I'm harping on, but I've worked in this field years ago.1 point -

Places like this do not lend themselves well to paintball I played the infamous paintball game at the Mall. It should have been run as a limited numbers & limited paint game, but then the costs don’t add up - it would have needed to be well trusted and experienced organiser to be able to charge high enough entry prices for any chance of viability ( and originally it would have been with a scheduled event and aiming powder balls, but somebody else also jumped the bandwagon and secured an earlier date ) They soon discovered they had bit off more than they could chew, opened it to unlimited paint to up the income. In minutes the whole place was soaked with clear paint. Carpets absorbed and were full of liquid gel, marble floors were ice rinks. Game one was ended early and then the long wait for all the sawdust in the area to be bought and thrown around the site It didn’t get much better Assaults on shop doorways were no surprise - just watch the opposition pass the big window and squeeze the trigger as they get to the door Walls didn’t need to be knocked in etc as the back service corridors could be used whilst others were stuck in stalemates at the shop fronts Airsoft just leaves plastic balls around which can be swept up - just avoid stepping on concentrations of BBs From what I heard for weeks later, the paint was ‘bleeding’ out of the carpets for airsofter games Rent and rates will be the real killer. As soon as there’s any use the rates become active, so it’s not always an existing cost for the owners - if they are stuck with rates then at least some income from game days reduces costs, or sometimes concessions can be made with councils such as for short term pop up shops etc & as you mentioned charity concessions can work1 point

So an update, over the past couple of months, I've slowly sanded off the original varnish and just about finished recoating. I used 3x coats of water based wood stain (Dark Walnut), then 3x coats of Danish oil. I picked up a repro butt plate and tarnished with some salt & vinegar, it's not perfect fit, but better than the metal one it comes with. Happy enough with it, it's far from perfect, but then that adds a bit of character 🙂 Original vs real steel Sanded Reoiled Butt plate1 point -
