  2. The VAST majority of guns used by criminals come from theft of legally owned weapons. If there are less legally owned guns there will be less illegally owned guns. As for the "good guy with a gun" theory, it's been disproved plenty of times. The "2.5 million a year" figure has no actual evidence to back it up.

  3. I've written quite a bit about AUG's. However I'm out of the loop so to speak. You can visually see the difference in 2 of the budget bodies. JG uses a smooth body all over, same as the TM and CA. APS/AA and a few others have raised textured areas on the stock and pistol grip. Of those 2 bodies there's very little difference in feeling, but the JG is slightly nicer feeling IMO. Neither body is any worse or better than the other. TM/CA and externally identical to the JG in all standard variants bar the HC. The HC is closer externally to the ASG commando, but I've seen that with both APS and JG style bodies. All uppers A1 A2 are identical across all manufacturers. A3/A4 variants are usually an A2 upper with a RIS kit, And are imo the only aug variant you should avoid as the balance is all whack with them. Some AUG's have a 3 position safety allowing a semi only position. You can modify a 2 position safety to be 3 position if wanted. I've shown the modification in other posts on here if you search. The internals is really what separates AUGS. JG are the best budget internals. They come with a better motor and gearbox internals. APS can and do have issues with the piston head having an injection point on the sealing face of the piston head that can eat the o-rings over time. The gears aren't as good as the stock JG ones, and the motor is weaker on the ones I've played with. It is a solid gearbox however and even stock with the dodgy piston head it is reliable. CA do the only AUG with a stock mosfet. JG are better value and a Mosfet can be installed on an AUG without even opening the gearbox. So the mosfet is only a selling point if you can't install one yourself. TM do the best running gearboxes, but the gears are soft and they don't take FPS increasing upgrades without also wanting the gears upgrading. Overall I'd say unless you want a HC out of the box, you are universally better off with a JG. ASG do a few variants in both APS and JG body's. Typically the value/discovery line is 0.8 joules and has plastic gearbox bushings, but the rest of the gun is standard internally. The sport line is 1 joule and may have slightly different internals but nothing significant. The proline sometimes comes with a mosfet, and should have bearings and a QC spring system, but these are model and age dependant upgrades, the mosfet is a very recent addition I haven't had one of these in my hands yet. Of the 3 if you are capable of upgrading, the value/discovery line is the way forwards. Bearings (£10) and a spring (£5) and your already over the sport line. I would also be very surprised if a value line didn't come with a QC spring system provided it's from new/new stock. Externally you may get either a JG or APS but I wouldn't be overly worried about that for the £110 price point. It's a far more budget friendly option than the others that only have minor gearbox improvements. https://bbgunsuk.co.uk/asg-aug-a2-styre-electric-airsoft-gun-in-black/ All models in all manufacturers come with the same hop unit. There will be some variation on internal barrels but not enough to swing a buying decision as the ZCI S/S barrel will out perform all stock barrels. Same with motors and after market HT motor is going to be better than anything stock bar the TM HC variants. So keep the base gun cheap as possible. As for your other worries, Creaking is a feature on an AUG. They all do it. As too is BB's getting lost in the body on mag changes. All uppers have some movement. These are the price of wanting to run an AUG, and you have to want to run one and live with the body issues otherwise get a M4 variant. The Hop unit and barrel should be free floating on the spring as this is a vital feature on the AUG it locks the body, tensions the gearbox, and aligns everything internally. You can not shim an AUG barrel it'll cause you a massive headache.

  4. When talking about civilians, you’re probably correct. This does not, however, account for any kind of preventative protection, or cops, who are also “Good Guys With Guns”. In many areas, a large percentage of people carry. Half my coworkers carry, and their wives. And my bosses. And their wives. And their parents. (Not their children 😂) I’m in Central Texas, which is both a very gun-rich area, and a very safe area. This is not a hard fact, but cities and areas with stricter gun laws tend to be far less safe. I have been to every state and almost every major city in the USA—the areas that make it hard for citizens to defend themselves experience more violent crime. This is what I’ve seen from personal experience. Anyone can twist numbers to say what they want. Obviously there are people in the world and even in my city that I wouldn’t hand a loaded handgun to. But, who am I to arbitrarily make that decision? What if someone else arbitrarily decided that I shouldn’t be allowed to own a firearm? It’s a slippery slope, deciding who should be allowed to do what. I think I’ll agree with Colin; my view on these things is extremely simplistic. However, I see nothing wrong with that. I’m not an extremist of any wing trying to either set the 2nd amendment into iron, or to tear it down. I’m just an ordinary Joe who wants the ability to defend his family, and for his family to be able to defend themselves. I also don’t have any kind of political agenda—this is just an engaging discussion with me and a bunch of Brits on an online forum dedicated to shooting plastic balls at each other l. 😂

  5. Alright y’all. I’m a born and raised American, so here’s my perspective. Other Americans would probably disagree with me here, but I’m a decent representative of the airsoft-playing demographic. In recent times, there have NOT been a lot of police deaths related to airsoft replicas. The danger is when misguided and deluded people (often teenagers), brandish airsoft guns as weapons. When a teenager has what appears to be a fully loaded AR-15 and starts coming towards the cops brandishing the weapon, they have no choice but to shoot. If they don’t, the individual could be a prospective neighborhood/school shooter. I.E. People are literally being shot for pretending airsoft replicas are real guns, and refusing to put them down when asked by the cops—there’s plenty of footage. In one recent example, a teen called 911 and asked for police help at his home because of domestic violence. The teen then answered the door with an airsoft M4 with the mag in and walked out at the cops with the gun pointed at them. There was no evidence of domestic violence. Everyone will have a different perspective on gun laws, but in America, guns laws primarily serve to remove the rights or privileges of law abiding citizens. Why on earth would the criminal obey gun laws? There are more guns in America than people—any criminal can get his hands on a gun through a private sale. In America, and in Texas in particular, concealed carry firearms (and open carry) is legal. A criminal or shooter’s WORST fear is not the cops catching him. It’s that the old lady in the diner or the kid’s baseball coach will pull out a concealed 9mm and shoot them from ten feet. This has happened repeatedly. School shootings are popular in part because staff are not allowed to carry weapons, as opposed to public places where shooters can be taken down by anyone. All that to say, the attempted restrictions/bans on airsoft weapons are likely attempts to remove freedoms rather than based in actual fact. Real weapons can be purchased in private or under the table sales by both legal and illegal owners extremely easily. Weapons are bought and sold at garage sales and over forums. Restricting sale and ownership of replicas and real weapons only harms and hinders legal buyers and owners because those with malicious intent will simply buy illegally.

  7. or it's part of the ongoing cultre war that seems to be happening in the US, left wing liberals vs right wing conservatives. Airsoft is seen as and being promoted as a gateway into firearm ownership in the US, it's also seen as a valuable training tool by some along with range drills and target practice. This is most likely to be one side trying to stem and direct future gun owners into other hobbies, interests, views etc to reduce support so that they can eventually gun reform/legislation can take place. Legislation varies from state to state and some states already have legislation in place regarding having an orange tip on RIFs(not sure if they call them RIFs).

So this one was a bit of a gamble. listed as boneyard on BBguns4less with no details of the issues. I had a few NGRS AK parts floating around so I bought it and when it arrived it was missing the fire selector lever that sits inside the receiver and is attached to the fire selector. The hop dial, which sets the hop, was snapped off and missing. Luckily I has a spare selector lever and I replicated the dial from another of my NGRS AK's and 3D printed it and it works well. It looks like this was a brand new, in the box, AEG that they robbed for parts - very happy with the result. And I also picked up a Canik TP9 whcih fires differently from about 99% of other airsoft pistols. It's striker fired, not hammer fired, and I quite like it. but me being me, I couldn't leave it alone as the extended mag release tended to dump the mag when holstered in my Warrior universal holster so off the the 3D printer again to make a 3mm thick extension to replace the standard 5mm version that comes with the pistol.

  9. I’ve a hankering for an AUG , preferably an A2 in my life but which one ? of the electric AEG options which one has the best externals ? Internals (as long as standard V3 ) I’m not too fussed about as that can be sorted , but I don’t want the shell to be too flimsy , and the barrel / upper assembly rattling about . JG , ASG & Snow wolf seem to be the most prolific from new , but I’ve no hands on experience , are they all made by the same OEM ? of the JG / ASG there seems to be a sportline & proline , what are the main differences ? GHK GBB … what’s the crack , are they any good ? I see them pop up often secondhand but not in stock very often at U.K. retail , so is it just the same ones doing the rounds ? Or … are they all show & no go . KWA Lithgow F90 … I’m keen on this too but not sure on KWA GBB as a whole , are the current range reliable ? any help & opinions appreciated to keep an aging collector happy

  10. Have you heard the saying "it's the exception that proves the rule". For a long time I really didn't understand the logic of that saying, but I think I do now. You've just given us an example.. you think armed Good Guys will stop the Bad Guy, but you're linking an article from 2019. It just doesn't happen enough, they're exceptions. I don't think widening gun ownership to the point everyone is carrying is the way to go. The idea of all those untrained itchy trigger fingers, all those guns owned by double-digit IQ idiots, all those angry people with hot tempers... Too likely to get shot by accident or anger. Scary.

  11. Most of the developed world moved way beyond that incredibly simplistic view a long time ago. Unfortunately, I suspect that there are so many guns in circulation in the USA that you are truly fucked. You have created an armed, aggressive and fearful society with appallingly poor education and mental health provision, resulting in a situation where a reasonably large number of schoolchildren are going to be killed in mass shootings every year. But hey, that's a price worth paying for Billy Bob to own his penis extension.

Simple answer is run as close to stock as you can, then replace if something (or in the case of the nozzle spring, when) breaks. Always worth keeping a few spares around; nozzles, nozzle spring, hop rubbers and mag lips are in my spares box. There may be other things but those or the most common I think. I've also got the Dynamic Precison nozzle springs, as well as a couple of TM and a couple of BavTac ones. Had one go on me but replaced with another stock spring and has been going strong for more than a year.

  13. The wording posted above states one of the markings from 1272.3, one of those is an orange muzzle which is pretty much what they have now right? It appears that the US could do worse than adopting our VCRA rather than anything the other way around. What I can't work out is what the problem is that this is trying to solve? If they're hell-bent on registering stuff then surely they're better off registering all the actual guns first / at the same time? I don't recall ever seeing a news story that said 'mass shooting stopped by 76-year old Grandma with a Smith & Wesson', they all end with either suicide or shot by police. In fact according to this article a whopping 3% of active attacks were stopped by a civilian over 21 years, that's 13 in real terms - or to put it another way, 0.62 per year. Let's face it, if 'MoRe GuNz' was the answer then America would be the safest place on the planet, but it seems that in reality that's not the case.

  14. The fit, finish and realism (if that's your 'thing'). The Cyma CM035 and CM045 look nearly identical (metal receivers etc), but the '35 is TM-Based, and the '45 VFC-based. Little things just off the top of my head - there's no little screws holding the front of the gun on to the receiver ('35), instead there is a front trunnion actually riveted to the receiver - a stout through-pin (and retaining grub screw) holds it all together. CM045 uses a legit stamped steel lower receiver, whereas the CM035 uses cast potmetal (Zamak/Mazak).

  15. THE VFC clones are MUCH better made. The TM clones are as creaky and plastic as the TM originals. (for reference I owned a Cyma 045 for a while and it was built like a tank, had to fix my friends 028 and it was horrible).

  16. KWA GBBR AUG ? Pics from Shot Show in Las Vegas earlier this year. Its a heavy beastie - about the same as the real Steyr AUG is. Handles nicely and feels quite balanced. Didn't get to shoot it at the show as at the time it was the only one they had and they were uncertain so sure abt it being used/abused. We got told that due to a massive order by a certain country (Down Under)of 2000 units for training purposes, then european release was some way off. Appears that BZ tactical have them though. Now, wheres that damn winning lottery ticket 🤣

  20. U still da man😉 Your post/this thread has reignited my need for another Aug, my biggest criteria is it's gotta be green, it's gotta be an A1 with the built in scope, & ideally have the newer 3 position safety, my old ca version didn't have it & the trigger drove me mad lol. 👍

  21. It really is. It's the fact it's a standard metal V3 gearbox, just with plastic bushings. Those bushings aren't actually that bad. I've been spouting on about budget augs and the upgrade path you can take with them for a few years, and even now it's more than relevant. For a £110 base gun, with some decent upgrades. You can totally eclipse anything you can buy in box. And save money in the process. Externally ASG also have the trades so it's a win win IMO. Bearings (£10), Spring (£5), Motor HT (£30). This makes a good gun. (+£45) (£155 total budget) Additional optional upgrades - 13:1 gears s/s 2 teeth (£20), brass spring guide [not required if qc box] (£12), Silent head set POM [Element IN0810] (£15), Mosfet - whatever you want (£10 budget model), barrel (£25), Hop rubber (£10). This gives a beast mode AUG. (+£92). So the total could be £247 for an absolute monster. There simply isn't an aug on the market that comes close to those specs. It's like a full sweetshop spec, for less than a basic TM (£260-280).

  25. My VFC LAR/FAL DX version landed in UK in late April, customs had it for 5 weeks. After the long and painful waiting, it finally arrived this week. Pretty confident it's the first DX FAL arrived in UK or even Europe. Shame that customs wanted to have more fun with it before I could get hold of The difference between the normal version and DX is the special wooden box, proper trades and every part of metal made of steel. Might be a bit overpriced but I'll pay for that as a super FAL fan

  26. Currently working on a 2 piece Spas 12 set. It'll be the heat shield and the sleeve style body of the reciever, so may also interest aliens builds. Prototype will be ready potentially Friday, but just gauging interest? Looking to do 10-15 of them, though will be keeping 3 back for personal use. Can either supply as clean bare metal or painted. Material will be steel. (I work at a sheet metal fabrication firm)

I've ran my MWS with stock spring for over a year with well over 10k shots through it. Closer to 13 14k. Still yet to have any issues or breakage. Just go for it and replace as it breaks. Wouldn't hurt pre buying one for the spares box though.

I have heard of people getting away with using the stock nozzle spring, however with green gas it is very likely to break. A lot of people run the Bav-Tac nozzle spring or dynamic precision, I havent heard anyone's review of the eagle six one but I know the guns modify nozzle spring is super stuff and a pain to install so a lot of people say to keep clear of that one

  31. I’m a little late here, but if you ever want to spend the beans, the Salomon Crosshikes are amazing—by far the best shoe I’ve ever used. I hike difficult/steep/wet terrain with some frequency throughout the Americas and Europe. I ate through my Keen boots after a trip to the Rockies, and the Salomons have lasted over a year of use at this point, which is really considering my track record with hiking/outdoors shoes. they also weigh something like 1kg total for the pair…

  32. I've waxed and then schlepped around the garden and patio in The Boots Of Stomping for a while and come to the inevitable conclusion that light flexible boots are what I want next. (The para boots actually feel a lot lighter once they're on the feet than when I'm carrying them around but they'll have me slowed down by the end of the day, I'm sure) I'll have a look at the Merrells out there. Thanks @Lozart @Colin Allen which would you recommend as the best / lightest desert or brown patrol boot, given my desire for lightness? And... at the moment I've been using a pair of old wellie boot socks, but they've worn through. Or sports socks, which definitely aren't the best in terms of keeping my feet fresh. Most things I've seen mention merino wool socks, Any recommendations there? The goarmy website sells one pair for £7 where as I can get 3 pairs off Amazon for £12, is that false economy?

    US - Airsoft under threat?

Given the availability of firearms, I'd guess the latter.

  34. They're cheap because they're surplus. Decent enough boots though. I also have feet that are wider than they should be for length but I find that Merrell boots fit me well. I usually size up as they can be a little snug but that's me. I currently have the MOAB GTX Tactical 8" boots for airsoft and a pair of MOAB 3 GTX walking boots for general stuff. While I agree that you don't need to spend an utter crap ton on boots, you do need to not be cheap. Object lesson - my mate Lee that recently started airsoft bought a pair of boots from Amazon for about £30 and they split across the toe after two days of airsoft. In good weather. Much like all the gucci tactical shit we convince ourselves we need because reasons, you don't NEED Lowa Zephyr GTX mids (as lovely as they are) et al unless you're doing the kind of mileage they're designed for. Of course, if you can afford them and you want them, fucking go for it! As always - make sure you at least acknowledge the wisdom of Vimes when it comes to boots... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boots_theory

  35. Some good info there. The ASG Value line seems to be a compelling option for the upgraders. I think I've only seen two AUGs in gameplay in the last couple of years - one was the APS version (raised texturing) and the other I think was a JG with a Kythera or Mancraft HPA unit shoe-horned in (it was a mechanical unit at least). Like G36s and UMPs, I think that AUGs as a platform deserve more love these days.

Mine came loose maybe slightly worse ive seen other new mws's also with loose receivers out the box my recommendation would be to plop some rubber bands over the pegs on the upper. if you want to close the gap and stop wobble permanently shimstock would be the way to go or possibly tap grub screws on the bottom of the takwdown pegs to push up on the takedown pins but that could most likely weaken the upper when i find a spare for cheap ill give it a go and try

  40. So after completely forgetting about this pistol for about 10 years after longing for it for ages: I was Googling WA SVI’s, trying to find a price for mine to sell at an airsoft boot sale last weekend, and went down a small rabbit hole of other WA pistols - setting off multiple old memories of pre VCRA days. Then at said boot sale, a van pulls up directly opposite me and what do you think they have… WA Colt Delta Elite. I think it was a sign that I had to buy it.
