Well got my first game since July on Sunday I think marshalling all the time was taking the fun out of things for me and the Site Owner and the other guys pressured me into playing. Glad I did I was able to help issue some justice to the known offenders of non hit taking 😂 Thoroughly enjoyed myself, and got the 416 out for my inaugural run with it👌

"in my day...." *Insert old man vibes here* This is a flippant comment due to starting work 10 minutes ago, however to the point Any day where you go Airsofting and think - worth it, or tinker and get things 'just right', buy any kit or *that* piece of kit, new gun day, first day you bring your mate along, hell even good toy cleaning day is part of the golden age.

Are you just upgrading for the sake of tinkering or do you have specific expectations? If it was me, I would go for a Maple Leaf Crazy Jet inner barrel and 50 degree Flamingo rubber. Don't worry about anything else until it breaks.

I would advise changing the spring, putting it back together and making sure it still works before diving into anything else 🤣. Other than getting serious and opening up the gearbox to change parts inside, the only other things you may want to look at upgrading if you aren't happy with the performance and consistency are the hop rubber and the barrel. Both of these depend on how good the stock performance is, and I am a big believer in 'if it 'aint broke don't fix it' because you are just as likely to make it worse and then have to spend ages fiddling to get it to work properly... don't ask me in how I became an expert in this.

Following your description (gun works fine without a mag inserted) I'd argue it's a fitment issue, disassemble and reassemble the gun in this order: Disassembly: Remove upper receiver, mag release, flora pin (small pin above the trigger), rear pin, pistol grip, stock screw, gearbox. Reassembly: Gearbox inside the receiver, install rear pin, flora pin, mag catch, upper receiver and front pin, stock, pistol grip. In this order, so that you mitigate any possible misalignment of parts and stuff.

Do you have a picture of it on? Where on the gun is the sling attached to? It sounds to me like the sling you have is too short for what you want but it may be how you're wearing it. If you're right handed, try putting it on over your right shoulder and under your left arm. That should help position the gun off to one side so it doesn't rub in the centre of your plate carrier. Have a watch of this You may decide that actually a two point sling or a convertible 2 to 1 point sling might be better.

Since im now reasonably competent at 3d modeling and printing I was planning to have a go at making a bren machine gun kit. Im finding plenty of blueprints but not many with measurements. If someone has a link to a more comprehensive set of measurements it would be appreciated. Also I have a couple of options with this and wanted to get some opinions. 1 do I make the pistol grip dimensionally accurate and shove an m14 or p90 gearbox in it 2 make the pistol grip a bit chunky and use as many standard v3 parts as possible. Either way im planning to make a 3d printable mag casing that can just have an ak midcap hidden inside and ill probably have to come up with my own hop unit. That is probably gonna be one of the more difficult things to get working.

I'll not deny that I have been nostalgic of late about airsoft. I'm currently stuck at home in half-term with round 2 of the 'rona so have had plenty of thinking time whilst the kids have been entertaining themselves. I don't know a lot about the airsoft skirmishing scene around the early to late 90s. I started buying RiFs at the War and Peace Show, Sussex Model Centre and Battle Orders from about 1995 onwards. Most RiFs on offer were TM. The move from springers to gas felt like going from a Spitfire to a Tornado. For me, the pre-VCRA era of airsoft, around when I started (2005), was the best time. It felt like all of the mainstream AEGs where on a fairly level playing field performance-wise, there were dedicated magazines showing us weird and wonderful new releases, it was easier to buy what you wanted, especially from Asia and there were amazing retailers like GnG2, Battle Orders and such. There were several forums which were taking off and were a hive of knowledge and insight (obviously this one still is). High end surplus kit is eye-wateringly expensive and fairly hard to source. I got my first AEG in this time - TM Beta Spetsnaz AK47 - and it was like going from a Tornado to a Typhoon. Then, Facebook arrived, along with very affordable ACM AEGs. This my be, for many, when airsoft really became 'Golden'. Between 2007-2016, airsoft seemed to massively grow (in my eyes). The costs dropped, and importing was still pretty straight-forward with a UKARA number. But a few big brands started to disappear - at least from these shores - Systema, Western Arms, Tanio Koba, Classic Army, G&G, whereas others emerged; ASG, Real Sword, A&K etc. There also seemed to be a widening gulf between out of the box performance (QC?) and what could be achieved through tinkering. It is getting easier to buy high end surplus kit. Post 2016 to present day and the effects of Brexit, a weak Pound Sterling and costs have affected, for me at least, the ability and ease of importing from abroad, especially from the once cheap Polish retailers. But the technology, innovation and range of available high-end models has increased. Bolt, E&L and LCT have grown. High end surplus kit is very easy to find on ebay. This could be other people's 'Golden Age'... When was yours?

Well shitballs.... Just ordered the M904G for the weekend along with a cheeky little red dot to go with a magnifier I picked up on the cheap the other weekend. Hopefully SWMBO won't notice gun number 12 sneaking its merry way into the family. Jesus, the boy and I have only been doing this a little over a year. I blame you lot. Correction.... Gun 13... I am not sure if they still do it or not; we stopped going there because of a range of issues, culminating with the management allowing a "friend of the owner" to keep a mag in his Scorpion in the safe zone.

That means alot So I agree with what you are saying, I don't think there was a full reason to why I did the whole fading in and out, I think it looked cool aha but no real reason. We intend to have videos that are full on and continuous but with use being relatively new to filming we only got short clips and I just mashed them together, wanted to get something up on the channel at least.

Are these really upgrades though? Chances are the gun performs worse than it did before.

I took a trip to my "local" shop,Bespoke Airsoft,near Heathrow.Suprisingly well equiped,the walls are jammed with guns and cabinets are full of pistols,mags,etc.The best stocked shop I've seen especially for it's size.It is affilliated to I-wholesale (trade only) and they operate out of the same building.Prices are very competitive and you know if you visit an airsoft shop with so much on display you could change your mind.No HPA as yet because they are HPA-tech-less.

Disassembled and reassembled the way you described. I was able to position the wire much better, but still had the same issue. I then took out the new bucking that I installed and put in my stock bucking. It actually fires now, but inconsistently. I’m going to charge all of my batteries and see if that is a potential new issue. At this point, I’m wondering if I installed the new spring backwards. I was so eager to get that gearbox back together after 2 hours of finagling that it’s possible I put it in wrong 😑

Yeah, that would be sensible. Also be careful of the wiring when putting it back together. Can be very frustrating to do internal work and then pinch a wire during the reassembly phase.

If it were in stock, which it doesn't seem to be. However, if it were in stock, you could get it for £180. But you can't. Looks like it's a seller's market, as long as they can find a buyer for a Frankengun that only existed for 5 minutes.

Last sunday was a wet but fun day! 9 people, games were somewhat slow but not a big deal, it gave me the chance to test some new gear/bits. @TheFull9 Ammo hub is wonderful, lightweight, low profile, can be upscaled or downscaled according to the user's needs, it's a nice alternative to the Mayflower rig when I don't have a lot to carry. Won't be using it for the upcoming 27h tournament though, I need a few things at hand and I don't want to overload the Hub. Direct Action Dust Mk2 backpack is awesome too, a touch heavy at 1.5kg empty, but very very comfortable! Perun Hybrid > Gate Titan, period; My 933, despite having a shortened M90 spring and one/two teeth knocked off the sector, still does 1.02J, so another tooth will have to go.

Have you tried catterick with Stirling airsoft? The themed games there run from 11:00am to 11:00pm on the Saturday (no enforced breaks) and are more of a thinking man's skirmish. Then on Sunday it's 7:30 (I think) to 11:00am. It's in the north east and it's the fibua site for all of the army learn at. It's also great for airsoft.

My little creation. Since I couldn't find the metal G&P rail kit I improvised to make M11a1 as useful as possible still maintaining slim shape (that is why there are no side rails). Used it last weekend and it was cracking fun. It is bit of a ugly duckling and won't be everyone's taste but it works perfectly for me and it is Daddy's Lil Monster

When it is jammed is the bucking caught in anyway? Does the bb stay in the barrel/hop up until you 'un jam' it?

Single points are literally just a weapon retention device. With a secondary benefit of causing the weapon to hit you in the nuts as a reminder to secure it properly. 👍 They we’re originally developed for short duration CQB and often less kit was front and centre back then. Especially the Chalker type slings. Anyway get a three point. Does everything…… 😱😱😱

If you want to keep it correct, it's a shotgun. IIRC it's an 870 with a spas12 handgrip on it.

I counted three times - as well as getting that Youtuber guy who thought it was a sniper that stood behind you. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 The afternoon was much better than the morning, and it was very tempting to shoot those busy-bodies filming from the footpath. I suspect Carlos will have to erect a safety net around the perimeter if he wants to continue with that site.

Yesterday was a reminder of why i have sank so much money into this game. Was an awesome day, pulled off some sneaky plays and came away buzzing, still was this morning.

Thanks for the advice chaps. Got a call today to say the fix has been done, and so far no mention of a charge - so that's good if it stays that way. Not sure if they're reading the forums 😉 Of course the repair itself has to hold - apparently it's just the screws coming lose again and the gearbox side of it is fine. So - looks like this will turn into a positive thread instead of a moaning one - which is always a good thing. 😁

No worries, completely disregard the whole 1.3j limit thing lol. If the BB is jamming in the hop unit it might be that you have too much hop wound on , I had exactly that issue with an M249 yesterday, try taking some hop off and see if that helps. Otherwise it could be an issue with the BB's themselves , some are much better than others . Just to clarify was it shooting fine with the new barrel and hop rubber before the spring change ? When firing without a mag in can you see the nozzle moving backwards and forwards if you look down the magwell ?

Golden Age of Airsoft was Circa 2005. Everyone ran normal AEGs and a few snipers... Who had hot guns because Joule creep hadnt been invented yet. Running either 0.5 teflon coated or 0.29 Maruzen Super Master Grades. It was a level playing field with no HPA Shit or speed softers. You tuned your AEG to 350 FPS on 0.2s and that was it. You ran ran 0.25 Excel if you were fancy or you hosed 0.2s Hops were stock except for the cut down biro tubes to replace the stock bit. So everyone had fairly equal ranges. BBs were £6 for 4000 and everyone ran 8+ Highcaps. We all have 9.6v 3300 Nicads in bags on stocks or the nunchuck ones somehow crammed into the foregrip. No one was a whiny prick and cried about being lit up .. Because being lit up was how it was. Health and safety was no existant. If you got hurt then you shouldnt have been doing what you were doing to get hurt and everyone knew that. Pyro was crow scarers in tenis balls. £20 for 200. AND.. This is the most important bit. The sites.. There was so many amazing sites. Ex Military, factory, entire industiral areas, shopping centers and TV Stations. They are all houses now but there was a 5 year or so period where the sites were incredible. That and the companies that ran the games were fewer and more focused on the game play. Not turning a profit. Fuck Airsoft now is total shit by comparison

Update (if anyone cares, haha): I've short-stroked it to the very limit of still locking back on empty, using a Waldo kit (incl' recoil & nozzle spring). I also added this TTI CNC silencer adapter kit. I know the original outer barrel has threads but this gives you higher sights and obviously allows it to be a bit more compact (when using a tracer etc). I'm just charging my short tracer, to see if the inner barrel isn't too long and thus doesn't activate it. If it is, I've got a shorter one I can use....but then yeah, I've essentially got a very well setup CQB gun. The cherry on top would possibly be a rail but that's easy enough to sort. The only issue is, I've never played CQB and don't intend to....
