  1. Yeah you're right enough, we went back after each game. What also didn't help was we were told that the day started at 09:30 and to be there half an hour before hand. We arrived about 08:55 and the first game didn't start until after 10:30. I realise this is probably a one off (my friend had to ask what was going on and the staff said a group were late) but it didn't get things off to a great start. This is an interesting point. My friends and I are planning on waiting a while (couple of months or so) before giving it another go, hopefully this will mean things ramp up a bit with COVID issues fading and the weather improving. Funny you say this as the morning brief sucked. I feel bad saying that as the guy giving the brief appeared to be a new member of staff who mumbled and didn't really seem to know what to say without prompting from the marshals. Again, this seems to point towards the idea that there were several one-off factors that spoiled our day slightly. Why not wield all six like you're some sort of tactical octopus, or a glocktopus if you will. Sorry for the long replies, I didn't managed to get on here to reply to them one at a time. A lot of sound advise from everyone though which has certainly been taken on board and has made me (and my buddies who've I have pretty much let read this whole thread) feel more optimistic about airsoft going forward.

  2. Well mr Smuggy Mcfucknuts IF you’d actually read my post properly you’d have seen I said the very same knife was for sale in the UK already only reason I was buying it from over seas was it was out of stock at the moment . I do realise it’s probably an awfully hard task for you but do try and get your facts right before trying(and failing) to troll someone ? There’s a good little spunktrumpet . Savvy ?

  3. Unexpected gnu in bagging area... This really was unexpected... I drive past Action Hobbies a couple of times a week, so keep up to date with their Clearance and Bone Yard specials... saw this yesterday, made an offer on it, and now it's mine... It's a dead JG S-552, normally retails ~£160, I got it for £50. Why buy a perfectly good gun and break it, when you can buy a broken one and break it some more! I've not had a chance to take it apart, but it's a V3 gearbox (my 'speciality') Thanks to all my recent tinkering I've got a spare motor and two (count 'em - thanks @Adolf Hamster) trigger units (which is what Paul at AH thought is the problem), so I think I've got a fair chance of fixing it. If I can, I'll have a tidy little back up gun. Picked up a decently large padded gun bag for a tenner too.

  4. At about the seven minute mark, there is a short sequence of a Polish militia training with airsoft rifs. Cool airsoft mortars, MKVs, and poor hit taking at 7:49. Bit like a day at a local site.

  10. Need to get me hands on a few dissidents, to please the ghost of Mikhail. Essentially one grub screw (below the barre in the pic, the screw pictured is just a placeholder) that holds the C-Clip yeeted itself in the woods at some point, which caused the barrel to rotate on its axis. There is now a humongous gearbox screw in there, which isn't gonna come out anytime soon. Russian problems require Russian solutions. Blyat

  11. It's a tough one. On one hand, airsoft sites are more of a weekend labour of love than a profitable full time business, and it's always tragic when landowners kick sites off after site "owners" have sunk most of their income into developing them. On the other hand, we are paying customers and there's a certain expectation of a minimum quality of service. I'd far rather that a site employ a head marshal / chief cat-wrangler who is actually good at and enjoys that role than buying a bunch of props and trinkets. On the 3rd to 6th hands, everyone's an expert in principle, but it takes a special sort of determined masochist to actually run an airsoft site, so I try not to get too judgey or mental over it. Maybe give it a 2nd rental in good weather and see if it's improved, it really does come down to the people and the mood on the day.

    Vfc Mp5 GBB

There’s a lot of misinformation and false claims calling these bad ass replicas “the worst gbb ever created”. Especially now when they released v2, I think it’s time to give it another shot. Here’s my story... I’ve bought vfc mp5a2 gbb in 2017 and haven’t use much mostly because I only had one mag and it had feeding issues. After some time looking at it hanging on the wall (and because I had few other gbbrs to play with) I’ve decided to make it skirmishable, that’s when I’ve come across nugentgl videos on y2b (long gone unfortunately). The issues vfc decided to skip during their QC (as usually) were easy to fix with aftermarket upgrade parts - this is the core of bad publicity, most of the reviews were made when those were not yet available on the market. I’m a gbb freak so I’ve bought almost all available upgrade parts... ended up with double the price of the gun itself plus I’ve added 4 mags to the set (worth noting the v2 mags fit v1 mp5 and even perform better than v1 mags). The ultimate skirmish ready vfc mp5 gbb part and mod list: 1. enhanced feeding ramp (crusader iirc) - fixes feeding and mag wobbling issues 2. Hop up vsr mod - makes it shoot laser straight and greatly improves seal. I use maple leaf autobot bucking, omega nub and crazy jet barrel. 3. That’s all. Seriously no more. You can still put in all additional upgrades but they will not do much good. Steel firing pin makes sense. And removing ejector lever that keeps scratching the bolt. Let me know if you got one, I’m curious if you had same issues.

  16. Thanks for the heads-up on that, hopefully the motor is ok! I did pull it apart tonight. The gearbox was jammed up. I re-assembled and everything seemed fine, except for a wobbly motor wire to the trigger. Like an idiot I wobbled it more (like a kid with a loose tooth) and the connection snapped. So I've disassembled again, fitted a spare connector. And then found the shimming was off. A couple of shims found on my desk had pinged out without me noticing. That's me for the night. So tomorrow I've got some soldering to do, and a shim job, and then I'll see if it kicks into life. I must admit now - I have no idea how all the bits for the fire selector switch fit back together. I hope there's a decent video out there! Oh, and that comment about me being able to put a V3 back together in 5 minutes? Call that 'pride before a fall'. For some reason this particular gearbox has had its own awkwardness that meant I spent more than a little time trying to get it back together. Which is why that broken connector was pretty damned annoying. The one definite forward step is I've rubbed down and re-painted the bright green bits with my Halfords green camo, should look nice with the dark grey receiver when it's all back together

  18. Yes, so I make a point off never carrying out physical exercise. 😉 I do have a couple of pairs of safety glasses with prescription inserts. Unfortunately fancy Oakleys and the like can’t take a strong enough prescription for me. I swap glasses between games as a quick way to defog them. Mesh goggles and face masks with glasses under them seem to fog as much as full Goggles in me. Best ones I have are my cheap guarder ones. Fog up less than my Revision & Bolle ones. Got some out of production Unvex Equestrian “glasses” too. Bit more secure as they are really a very close fitting goggle.

    Polish Militia Milsim

Can you image the reaction of 99% of the “move up ! Move up !” Screamers you always get on a game day if some guys in real uniforms turned up and said “we’re looking for volunteers to join the self defense militia and we saw you and thought “ now he’s looking like a perfect candidate” ? They’d shit themselves four ways till Christmas ! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  22. No the £150 was the money from getting rid of the couple of rifs I have ATM. This looks a really good shout and that review is incredibly in depth! Thanks for this, I've never really considered doue eagle as I'd only really heard bad things. I was using .25s and adjusted the hop as best I could. TBH the gun felt awful when shooting, hard to describe but I would say "bouncy" in the piston if that makes any sense? My friends rental was the same. TBH I just don't want to put my enjoyment of the game down to the quality of the rental when we get there.

Best of luck getting hold of one of those. @parramoom I'd suggest taking a look at Squadron Sew Shop on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/191725561221347 they make (relatively) reasonably priced but high quality repros of vintage gear like this. Bear in mind though that if you're after something accurate to the embassy siege era kit then it's a heavy old beast and you WILL sweat balls.

  27. Agreed. The cheap CYMAs are robust, but the plastic is very toyish. Contacts are under £5, that's not a concern in airsoft terms, but my CM.516 (Big Dragon M140 motor, M90 spring) overspins and double-shoots on semi with 11.1V. Using 0.28g+ BBs, with the hop adjusted for them? If you're lobbing site 0.2g without dialling the hop in then that's not the G36's fault.

  28. Hey mate, I'll chime in with a quick reply. Pretty much everything has been said already I think. So, I'm a newbie with only 5 session days under me. But thankfully my first day rocked. It was immense fun and ran very well. Least to say got me hooked. Played there 4 times now, and once another site. These 2 sites are both indoors cqb and are polar opposites on how they are run and how they play. But both good IMO. Will use them both. My point is like many have said. There are so many variables that goes into a great, ok and not so good game day. So I'm sure if you play how you want to play you will have great fun. And I've found that these 2 sites are open to suggestions and criticism having talked to owners. They want to know what works and what can improve so go and share your thoughts. It is probably more valuable to them as a first timer than you may think. Lastly gear can make a difference its not the be all end all to everyone, but to me it was the fascination of firearms that got me into the hobby. Which is why I went for a GBB. It functions much closer to the real deal but I can shoot people with it for fun in a game of hide and seek. Just know your reason for wanting to play and cater to it.

  29. 11.1v reduces the trigger switch life, and the more times it's activated (I.E semi auto) the quicker it will wear/burn out through electrical arcing across the contacts if there is no mosfet installed. How long those contacts will last really depends on a few factors, including the quality of the switch in the first place. They could last months, or years, or fail during the first day of play. Personally, if repairing you existing guns is not an option, I would bin off the idea of buying a Cyma and get one of these instead for £40 more. It has a proper fire control unit/Mosfet that side-steps the 11.1v issue entirely as it's an optical switch. Lots of info on this thread here:

  34. Under when tested in play and good point about bb weight I can't imagine they are putting any in their mags. After I had spoke to the head marshall I did see a guy out with the chrono testing. Really should have the chrono in the hands of someone who understands how the guns work. I know the Depot tourney lock the HPA users I don't really know what that does but suspect it's to avoid this type of speculation.

  35. A 100 times this ! the team running it can make literally the crappiest little site an absolutely brilliant day but equally a poor team can make the best site possible a total waste of a day . Classic example for me is my old home site , I always said a bad day there was better than a good day at most other sites I’d been too , until the head marshal passed away and then we rapidly discovered he really was the heart of it . After he passed away from my perspective(and my team mates as well) it just went to shit , standard of organisation dropped , rule infringements weren’t getting jumped on like before , poor control of the site became a lot more visible but the biggest thing for me(and again my team mates) was the total lack of customer care , the new bosses just didn’t care about it . When he was running the site he would always wonder around the safezone welcoming the players to the site , he was always at chrono , always tried to be the one giving the briefings , was always out on the field and was always approachable with questions/complaints/etc , and at the end of the day he always wondered around the safezone asking you if you’d had had a good day and if not why and shaking hands and saying good by and he looked forward to seeing you again at his site and it was his site , he may not have owned it on paper but he certainly was the boss in our eyes . When Dave died so did the site as far as I’m concerned and it really showed it’s the people that matter NOT the bricks and mortar .

  36. Also the whole ‘custom’ thing does my swede in 🤯 not this chaps add in particular but near all the adds you see claiming to be selling a ‘custom’ gun , on the whole the term custom is taken to mean you’ve permanently and physically altering the what ever in someway , like shortening the barrel , changing the layout of the controls , changing the entire gearbox internals ? that makes it a custom gun in my book , sticking a red dot and a bi-pod on it or just changing the inner and hop rubber then giving it a shit paint job does NOT make it a ‘custom’ gun , that’s just personalizing it !🤦‍♂️ rant over !😁

  37. My nearest site (SpecOps) has a fairly limited site in terms of structures (most of them are represented with just sheets of tarpaulin hanging on lines, or tents - I hate to think what the storm has done to it), and now we're in the middle of winter there's quite a lack of vegetation as cover. The games tend to be simple rolling defences, or bomb plant / defense, or rescue a dummy... so even the young kids can have a clue what's going on. But it's pretty much always good fun, just because the owner and the marshals work together, and try to keep it light and without too much emphasis on being 'competitive'. So we do get pre-game briefings, and hear who has won at the end. Static teams get a gentle cajoling to push on (almost all games having infinite respawns that aren't too far to trek back to helps). Good team efforts or solo runs get mentions in the couple of minutes post-match, and the whole thing rounds off with a "thanks for coming, hope you all enjoyed it" that feels like it comes from the owner's heart. Or perhaps from his bank manager Decent bit of nosh for lunch included too. There are things I could critique, but by the sounds of it I'm pretty lucky with my local site. Player numbers are 40-70 and the playing areas kept reasonably tight so at least one of the small number of marshals are always in line of sight. So to the OP - stick with it, hopefully you'll find something reasonably close by, don't disregard a site just because it doesn't 'look cool' as it sounds like the quality of the people running the place is the most important thing
