Site Name: Skirmish Wycombe Contact details: 01494 578077 Website Address: https://skirmishwycombeairsoft.com Facebook Page: Skirmish Wycombe Airsoft | Facebook Site Address: Fryers Farm Lane, High Wycombe HP14 3NP The last true long standing site close to London that I had never been to. @Albiscuit and I were going to go to Red 1 Oblivion, which fell through so decided to dust off the old reviews and give Skirmish Wycombe a visit. We attended on 30/01/2022. Skirmish Wycombe are usually fully booked and run every week switching between Saturdays and Sundays. It's a paintball site which is also used for Airsoft. It's a fairly long running site. Small Woodland site which has nice variation with regards to elevation with a valley running through a third of the site and elevated precipice above it. Short/Medium/Long range engagement distances. Foliage is both low and high but hardly any at head height so there is enough visibility for bolt action users and not so great for the taller person. There are plenty of earthworks and man made structures (None of which are particularly complex and only one small elevated building.) Good: Playing Area: It is quite a small site but it's nice and varied, despite being a paintball site first, the zones are opened up nicely and run into each-other for Airsoft ranges. As explained before there are lots of manmade buildings and earthworks, though maybe something a bit more elaborate could make this a truly excellent. Turn around time: Pretty short, you certainly get your moneys worth, they get lots of games in. Safe Zone: Small area, though it looks like it could be expanding soon, everything is covered and was big enough for the small crowd that attended. Park bench style seating and tables. Digital signage for the food stall, Battery charging available. It was good overall, but it did feel a little "tired", could do with some sprucing up. Safety Brief: Short and sweet. Covered most things. Food: Pulled pork with BBQ sauce and for us non pork/veggies, freshly cut Mediterranean vegetables with Mac and Cheese. It was stonkingly good food for an airsoft site, and is included with the £30 entry fee. Seems to be cooked on site. The tuck shop had digital boards with the prices on, they do freshly made milkshakes (Shakeway style made with different sweets etc) Had what appeared to be syrup style fizzy drink dispensers. So for Food and Drink, this site is first class. All the more impressive that it's in-house. No food trucks here. Shop: Really good shop! A large and wide selection of RIFs and pistols. They had an LCT Val, WE Makarov, G&G GK5C, F2000's. Really interesting selection. Prices are high like at most on-site shops. But not many places have this breadth of selection. Game Modes: Mostly simple, but effective, usual domination/zombie/4 way round robin games. Have a nice looking bomb setup. Average: Value: £30 is quite a lot to ask for when the site is pretty small, but the food and turn around time does make up for it. Clientele: Very young, lots of rentals and new people to the sport with very few older gents. They were friendly enough, but behaviour in the field was very suspect. Toilets: In an elevated shack in the car park, not an ideal position. It has real porcelain which is usually a good rating by default, but they were a little dirty and stank quite badly! I think the waste is stored underneath and removed periodically. Car Park/Entrance: Small mud car park, sign posted at the entrance but you need to follow signs for Fryers Farm thereafter and not mistakenly come off the other junctions within. Car Park is nearly right at the end of the main track after you see a gate that says "Staff only". It hadn't rained much recently, but I can imagine it getting slippery up to the nearby elevated safe zone. Chrono: Mandatory and everything was tagged. Usual 350 FPS for AEGs, shotguns and pistols. 450 for DMR and 500 for BASR. Would get a "Good" but Al overheard a marshal ask another marshal "This guys rifle is shooting over 350 on one chrono and 320 on another, what should I do?" "Go by the reading that lets them play". They also required me to chrono by .2's so they do not account for joule creep on heavier ammo. Bad: Hit taking: This was the massive bugbear of the day. In the morning there were some poor hit takers, mostly from frustrated players who couldn't break through enemy lines. We really enjoyed the mornings games despite this and were glad to carry on without grumbling. I made a prophetic comment at lunch (As long as the hit taking doesn't get any worse, I would consider this site fantastic, we'll see what happens!) The Afternoon was a complete shitshow for all three games. Two almost whole site games fighting over a single objective, there were about 4-5 grey hooded rentals, none of which would take their hits, you could see bb's pinging off them, they held important buildings which overlooked the main objective and wouldn't budge. I went up to one at the end of a game and said how well they held up and if they died at all? "Nah mate". It was almost comical how it was the grey hooded players that didn't take hits. It was a classic stereotype. On my own side there were other hooded rentals who would get shot, take the hit and instead of walking back to spawn 3 minutes away, would go behind a hedge and spawn straight back in. I had to exclaim to many rentals on my side that dead men don't talk as they kept trying to relay information to me about enemy whereabouts after they had been shot or asking me where I was shot from when I was walking back to spawn. Marshalling: I was tempted to put this in "Average", there are a number of marshal's, but only one appeared to have any experience or clout, and was looked to for advice by the others on a consistent basis. Considering how many people were complaining about how bad the hit taking was, I didn't see anyone get spoken to, no test shooting and no shadowing of suspect people. CEASEFIRE: In the afternoon games ceasefire was called no less then 6 times in two half hour games. Unsure as to why, some people say it was because people were walking on a footpath nearby. This needs to be sorted with maybe a proper fence etc as it killed the flow of the game (And many people would sneakily move up and into better positions from where they were when the ceasefire was called). Conclusion: A really difficult one, we really like the site and we will come back to see what happens playing against different people. The morning was excellent and was great gameplay but the inaction over hit taking really killed the Afternoon for us to the point that we left slightly early deflated. It goes to say, there were roughly just as many rentals as there were experienced players. We liked the informal atmosphere and the on-site facilities were great. They limit numbers as the site is rather small and the numbers were about right. I'd like to come back and see what it looks like with summer foliage. The Marshalling team need to be far more pro-active/confident in dealing and directing players, maybe some more experience would be a good idea. Bullpup Watch: T97, an Aug of some description. Just in case anyone is interested or still reading..I tried some alternative knee supports with metal "hinges",God they were uncomfortable and the velcro was irritating.So I played yesterday and I slowed down a tad,today recovery seems better,then as agreed it's all about management because they are never going to get better.Thanks for all the advice.

+1 for all that. The first time I split the gearbox the spring flew out sideways and the trigger and all the gears were everywhere, and I didn't have the self-confidence to try to put it back together. But if you spend enough time looking at the internals, they're not actually that complicated and most of the stuff fits together quite logically (although it may be oh so super-fiddly). The one real terrifying thing is if the spring goes flying and knocks the shims off your gears. Learning to assemble / disassemble the gearbox AND learning to shim at the same time is a bit of a steep learning curve, so do your absolute best to ensure that spring is held in place. And then look carefully on the gearbox shell for any shims that may be stuck there, so you can keep track of where they ought to be. The anti-reversal latch is a complete PITA so another thumbs-up for using magnets to keep it in place during reassembly. I actually made a jig of a small piece of wood with some nails and screws in it to act as a third pair of hands when putting my gearbox back together. And then I stacked some magnets into a hole in the wood under the latch to hold it. But you can just stick them straight on the shell. It ain't pretty but it works... (this is a v3 gearbox btw)

Pads don't seam to help my knees. The pain is when I try to stand up. I have exercises that help but not had to do them to sit in a chair at a desk... Lol. I've starting again... What's the channel? I've just bought a pair of these from eBay...

As long as they're not being crushed, scuffed or otherwise damaged getting the battery in and out then yes, it'll be fine.

Always sounds good in theory, but try to find almost anything that doesn't have a direct manufacturing link to PRC or one of its immediate slave labour neighbours, be easier to find an airsoft site where everyone takes their hits lol 😏

There’s plenty out there , go on any retail site and you’ll see them , over the yrs I’ve tried most of them from a ‘knights armourment’ type with a pressure pad either velcro’ed or fixed on with rubber bands to properly dedicated ones with recesses that the pad fits in too but I always end up moving the switch to the fore-end so I press it with my thumb and not have to ‘squeeze’ it with my fingers due to how it affects my grip when hold my gun at the fire position . Brand wise their all of a muchness there all just a bit of bog standard Chinese plastic (unless your spending stupid money on a ‘Real Steel’ one , in which case it’s made from slightly better quality CHINESE plastic !🤣) me personally I’d say just go on line find one you like the look of and give it a try ! 👍

Pretty much. AEGs and GBB are generally much more mechanically complicated than their real steel original (giving many more points of failure) and in their country of manufacture are dirty cheap and made of low strength materials. Partly because they are cheap and partly to make sure they can not be made to be actually lethal other than beating someone to death with one. In the end we play with toy guns who's original design was only intended for plinking and not for the abuse they suffer just being used in game. It would be fantastic if we could expect the same reliability standards as real steel but economies of scale means we would pay a fortune for our guns. We just have to accept that sooner or later our toy guns will break.

Just be aware that putting in the tightbore may make your gun more susceptible to getting a BB jammed in there, and you'll be wanting to buy top-end ammo (like Geoff's) to avoid problems, where you might have got away with the cheap stuff before. Even that's no guarantee - when you're potentially getting through thousands of BBs in a day there's always the odd one going to be out-of-spec. Anyway, it's up to you to decide if extra accuracy is worth that potential issue / increased ammo cost.

Welcome back! I've done similar to you, returning after a long hiatus. The obsession bug has bitten deep on me too, I've always researched deeply on any purchases I've made, and with Airsoft the amount of stuff to look at is HUGE so it's almost never ending 🤗 (Except I actually have reached the point of owning so much stuff that I've got nothing left to get, I'm now buying better versions of stuff I've already bought. This makes me sad 😑) One piece of advice I think everyone will give you... Don't buy two tone. It'll be a PITA to repaint, better off getting a UKARA or joining a site with a shop that'll sell you a black gun when they know you're serious. Quite a few of us have Double Eagle M4s, they're reasonably priced and seem to be reliable, though may need a spring upgrade early in their life. Luckily that's easy. I love mine. Plenty of threads on here about them. CO2 pistols can run too 'hot' so some sites don't like them. Check before buying one. Your alternative is to buy a Tokyo Marui pistol that will run well in the cold weather, and be rather accurate too.

Sights fitted and used yesterday,game changer IMO,well for me.BB's actually go where you want without having to guess,less bb's used and a lot more semi-auto.I've never used sights before.No guaging shot give away,Just wait for players to stick their's bod's out or fill a hole....great..LOL.

Yeah batteries will get warm when current is drawn they have resistance. You should only really worry if the battery gets burning hot or puffs up.

Op message @quango2k and ask him nicely to mill you one using a real Magpul of your choice. You will end up with exactly the grip you need and it wont cost you the earth.

G&P make Storm grips and SPR grips that might be what you are after. Failing that you can modify a GBB pistol grip but Dremel skills are needed.

Trying to do an old school look. P226 with guarder kit. Genuine surefire, correct older style rear sight. Just need to find the early style grips.

I currently use a Surefire m900. It's a bit of a lump but exactly what you're describing. Pressure switches on either side of the foregripfor mometary activation, and a thumb button for a pair of small nav lights forw moving around dark areas without giving your position away so much. No doubt you can get chinesium copies that work OK.

So if anyone has ever wondered what a TM breacher looks like with a stock …. Your welcome 🤣 (Breacher is gunna be used in a project so this isn’t its final form 😉, stock came from my m870 that I fitted a wood kit too)

Just a warning for you so that you don't go and do what I did, which was to take the gearbox apart without knowing what you are doing. Post any useful links for how to correctly disassemble your gearboxes. Nutster

Just purchased this helmet second hand and not totally sure exactly what it is or how much it’s worth? I know that the chinstrap is team Wendy and the helmet itself is not made of plastic it seems a lot heavier and looks like Kevlar inside compared to my fma helmet. The nods are replica nonfunctional take a look at the pics someone mus have a clue of what this is as honestly I’m not a helmet guy and don’t have a scooby do. Welcome back 🖐 I think the main thing that's changed in the last 10 years is the engineering and manufacturing has improved to a point where even budget guns work well enough for general game days. You don't need to spend a fortune to get a decent metal body and accurate enough AEG. (Of course looking for perfection gives diminishing returns) Good budget makes include: CYMA, JG, Double Eagle, Specna Arms I agree with Rostok. Rent for 3 games. Yes its a pain but you'll get to try the latest budget guns to see what they're like and see what other people have to help you decide what to get. Don't get a Co2 pistol for games. Many sites don't allow them as they're often too hot. (They're a pain to use as well) TM plastic slide pistols work very well in Winter or you can get Red/Black gas for metal slide pistols in cold temps.

No I wouldn't be interested. It seems every couple of years someone makes a big announcement about a prop which they claim will revolutionise airsoft and fuck all happens, this sounds exactly like that. If you've you've really been involved in the game for a decade you'd know that Also your attitude means I wouldn't be interested even if it was the best product ever, you've been told by several people here that it won't work, and rather than accepting it you've decided to throw your toys out of the pram like a toddler

To clarify, not the retailer fairs, but the car-boot end. It's not a hobby where we want to be seen flogging rifs to anyone clutching a sweaty handful of tenners. That's why I've only seen it done at sites running bring-and-buys for paying players rather than open days.

Sadly I'm all out of gearbox shells. I've not come across the SA complete gearboxes before so not sure it will work in a Lancer or even what the quality is like. No matter what after-market shell you use there's always a chance of some incompatibility. Even 1mm of difference can mean the difference between feeding and not feeding, always good to keep in mind. The Lancer is defaintely fixable but will take a bit of time and money, maybe worth putting that towards a new aeg and then tinkering around with the Lancer, get yourself an E&C shell from a HK store (around £30), slowly work on it.

It was about 10 years ago, and as you can tell I'm still angry :). Not sure I'd be able to control myself if I ever saw his ugly troll face though. I didn't bother going the small claims route, as many did. Because I read he had so many debt collectors after him he would get a family member to always answer the door and claim he wasn't home. Plus debt collectors usually take half of the debt.

I think if marketed towards site owners it could actually have legs. Capture the VIP games do quite often work and if you had a game where each team has a few nominated players carrying trackers that is a interesting spin. I say this because one style of vip game that I have seen work very well is where each team has only certain players that can actually capture the vip and that always leads to small groups of people congregating round their teams own personalities and actually going for the objective. Add trackers being carried by those nominated players you could actually have a game mode that could be quite successful.

The first time I played it was madness. The last game I was a lot slower and thinking more. Got hit a lot less and probably got the same amount of kills.

To cut a long story short. I am thinking of making a tracking system for airsoft. A modular target unit Sorry, I thought I had answered that question. I am not trying to flog anything. I have an idea and the means to produce a version for testing. I can, & will apply for patents.

There are a number of variants available other than traditional stock, pistol grip full stock or the obvious ebr models immediately come to mind🤔

Lets just say you aren't the oldest 😉 CQB tends to be quite a bit higher energy than woodland games so try one of those too if you get a chance

I found the stock grip to be really uncomfortable so installed a Magpul MOE+ and changed the trigger guard. It's now much more comfortable.
