Just arrived I am shocked at the hand done stippling on the pump & grip The build quality seems exceptional, a very solid substantial piece of kit Chuffed to bits with it (so far) 😂7 points -
How my L119 A2 long dmr build sits at the moment. Performing well, slot booked for machining and trades . Then all the detail work to do. Grip, stock and foregrip are all genuine. Real steel mag catch ready to go on . Fire selector modded for semi only. ELCAN not totaly legit , but works very well and swaps onto the L85.5 points

a non-standard gearbox isn't so much of an issue. the majority of engines on the market are cylinder replacements that will drop into the space used by the original cylinder in the gun. kits tend to come with trigger replacement units which will be specific to a standard gearbox type (generally a v2 or v3) which have a pair of microswitches- one for the selector and one for the safety. however you can also get "universal" plug boards which will let you wire directly into the existing trigger contacts (although unless you wire up your own microswitch you'll lose select fire), for example this is how i wired up the mg42. nozzle length will be another factor, there'll be a range of different options but if you can't get one that suits you might have to get a longer variant and have it machined down yourself. take a look at high pressure airsoft, they have a range of different engines (although admittedly stock doesn't look so good these days). i'd suggest going wolverine over the polarstar jack/F1 offerings- those 2 are open bolt designs and not good for accuracy. the f2 is a great engine but overkill for a support gun role (unless you're factoring in that you might want to switch to a different gun/role in the long run)2 points -
Well thanks mate, glad you do. I spoke to the owner of Tactical-Kit a few days ago and he is interested so if things go to plan it'll be easy enough to get here. I may be shooting myself in the foot here, but the hub actually does have a lot in the way of functionality, it's designed to be the most modular placard ever to come to market and all that stuff is covered/being covered on the social media. However if you literally just want to clip it to any PC or harness, stick in your mag insert and go you can 100% do that and you will not get any trouble at all from the extra options that are built in. Until you know about them or want to use them you probably won't even know they're there given the way it's designed. The down side to that is I'm going to have to produce a LOT of short educational posts/videos on all the ways to set the thing up, but hopefully it'll lead to more interest since a very large amount of folks out there probably already have kit that can mesh with it.2 points

What have you made?
GothicGhost and one other reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
I've made some 'painting' It's definitely a step up from the crayons I usually have to eat play with, really rather fun! I smudged a bit around the mag well (on the other side), and maybe there's a couple of other areas that need a bit of re-toning and some texture from the scrim added in, but as my first attempt it was a good learning experience. All done with Halfords paint (black/khaki/green/brown) as it was easy to grab them on my travels. Still want a muted red and a near-white to add some extra highlights.2 points -

My own placard made by FirstSpear - Ammo Hub A1
Unreal Warfare reacted to TheFull9 for a topic
Truly shameless self promotion alert - also aimed very much at the military so forewarning if you're not in to kit that's way OTT for airsoft. If I may I'd like to present the Ammo Hub A1, a supremely modular placard that at the core level is designed to be the foundational basis for carrying your primary mags either on the front of a PC or built up to a chest rig. I get that from the picture that it really doesn't look like much, but please believe me when I say the design is done in such a way that there are 10s of thousands of potential setups you can build and the aftermarket integration features of the placard are done such that the interfaces are super sleek and tucked away - mostly they comprise of slots and various velcro areas. It takes any mag insert with hook velcro on both sides like Spiritus and HSP so it'll work for ARs, AKs and all SMGs just like the other micro rigs many of you will be familiar with. I'm not currently aware of a PC with placard integration on the front that this cannot attach to. It can take different top and side attachment buckle options as well as any PALS pouches on the front, sides and base and Tubes compatible dangler pouches/sub loads. It can be stacked on top of itself or mounted side by side with itself if you buy 2 and want that capacity and capability. Any back strap or harness that uses industry standard 1" buckles can be attached but the side attachment loops can be tucked away entirely when used on a PC. If you have a cummerbund that includes FS Tubes it can clip in directly to the placard rather than the front plate bag for maximum security (extra Tubes purchase req'd); but if that doesn't apply for your PC there's also a way to strap the bottom of the placard to the bottom of the plate bag. Because of its' size it can be slightly curved even with 3 AR mags stored and it will stick to your PC/chest rig base better than most other similar products. The Ammo Hub is very very light and kept slim by the use of FirstSpear's specific 6/12 cordura/loop velcro laminate fabric while still being made to meet or exceed the specs required for military applications in terms of strength and durability of both materials and stitching. The hub is shown here mounted to the front of an FS Plate Carrier with 3 EMAGs stowed inside: The first small batch will only be in MC and will available around late feb/early march. There's are no 2 ways about it though, it will be expensive. You're looking at something roughly in the region of $60-70 (exact details TBC) for the basic setup with just top attachment buckles and you'll then need an insert of your choosing to retain mags, but I'd imagine a lot of interested folks will already own compatible ones. At least at first they'll only be available from FS in the states but of course I'll work with shops like Tactical-Kit to bring it to the UK if the desire is there and the opportunity arises. If there's desire in the market then more colours will be shortly forthcoming and I have lots of ideas for my own harnesses/back straps and expander wings etc to compliment the wide variety already available out there that are compatible from the likes of Ferro, Spiritus and Haley. NB - There is actually room for 5 x SMG mags like MP5 and ARP9. I'll be gradually talking about and showing all the many features in depth and close up over the coming weeks on my business IG/FB page so feel free to follow if you'd like to know more: https://www.instagram.com/f9gear_/ https://www.facebook.com/F9-Gear-1052134953499201 point -
v2 semi locking
Rogerborg reacted to CoWpLaGuEd for a topic
Ok, I think this will work. I've made a double switch from a miniature toggle switch and a microswitch. So you have to throw the toggle before you can press the switch. This should prevent any accidental firing (I will also fit a shield over the microswitch). I make all my MOSFETs modular so you can swap them out if there are any issues. It works as expected, flick the switch, press the button and it cycles. I'll have to wait for it to lock again to fully test it, but this sure beats having to take the top reciever off any try and poke the cutoff lever with a screwdriver....1 point -
Many thanks! This has now been sold at mates rates to someone 🙂1 point

The army armament R85 isn’t very good. It doesn’t always fire on semi and the EBB broke within 10 shots on mine. As well as this, the motor came out of alignment within 6 hours and it is terrible to put back together.1 point

This is a question that has been asked a few times but then they don’t come back to tell us what happened An orange tip is no good, that’s the American system for ‘toy’ (Back in the 70s here it used to be for toys that could not shoot anything, and only had a dummy barrel) In the UK to prevent it being a RIF it would have to be painted one of a set list of bright colours, covering more than 50% of the body The law here covering whether or not you can import (or buy) a RIF is the VCRA To do so you require a ‘defence’ which is the intended purpose - the applicable purpose is ‘airsoft skirmishing on insured sites’ or in other words ‘playing airsoft’ The UKARA is a retailers trade scheme that counts players attendance at member sites then grants UKARA membership for a year. This is not a legal requirement, but is the best known scheme to ‘prove’ you are an airsoft skirmisher You therefore need to convince customs when it comes through, whether that is by courier or packed in your luggage Options are: Try to convince them that you are an airsoft skirmisher Paint it, and you can then later clean off the paint as long as you aren’t damaging any current finish Package your RIFs and leave them behind, come here, play some games, get UKARA membership, then get someone to post them with the relevant info1 point

Yep, did some research on the internet and that was what was recommended! Seemed to work ok. Used regular Dylon Machine dye even thought that doesn’t work on synthetics it does work on the 60% of the fabric that is cotton.1 point

Had my first game of the year yesterday at Coms Site 3. It was... fine? First game and a half I was dicking around with my TAC getting everything tuned in properly and had a few nice shots. Ultimately landed on want to be a bit more active (and the 'suspect sportsmanship' was catching like wildfire... more on that later) so swapped over to the MWS. Or at least had planned to, it wasn't enjoying the temperature much so I dipped back into the boot and begrudgingly dragged the NGRS out for the rest of the day. Not sure why it was begrudgingly mind, always performs really well and is yet to let me down but alas, it wasn't my first pick. I am not, and hope to never be one for cheat calling or getting riled by supposed cheats. I've been playing far too long for it to bother me much at this point, but ohh boy was a this a day for allegations. Allegations from all over the place which ultimately led to a pretty hostile atmosphere from both sides and put a bit of a dampner on the day. Nevertheless I managed to sneak (read as, charge straight at without them noticing me) behind a chap taking cover behind a barricade and have a rare 'ok, so where is the most humane place to shoot this poor sod' moments (said poor sod had 4-5 folks moaning he wasn't taking their hit, can confirm they took that one). Definitely a personal highlight. Always nice to give new kit a run out, never been a big fan of UBACS so gave the Velocity rugby shirt a go. Definitely glad I picked up two, I imagine I'll be getting some more.1 point

That's unfortunate, I'd agree with nick, start at the hop and air seal then work your way back. It's unlikely that a it's going tongain performance from nowhere, much more likely that's an issue being hidden by spring weight that occasionally works effectively.1 point -

Jacob Wright reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
I found myself in the local Hobbycraft shop, and they stocked some decent satin/matte spray paints at £7.50 a can, so I bought the off-white and dark red to add those highlights. And like a muppet I decided to rush into trying them out even though it was dark, cold and breezy outside. The actual extra spray I added was... ok. Maybe over-egging it a bit. But I didn't take enough care to avoid overspray beyond my scrim, so now there's a dusting of white specks over some of the gun which looks a bit crap up close.1 point -
Fitting an M4 stock to a fixed buffer tube M16
TheFull9 reacted to concretesnail for a topic
You'll need an aeg buffer tube with mounting hardware, then you'll likely have to cut down the mounting tube to match the length required in the buffer tube or make a spacer. You'll also need an aeg sling plate to seal the back of the receiver and guide the wiring into the tube. Ak2m4.co.uk is a good place to start for buffer tube, they had some with hardware included.1 point -
Hold up mate. The seal Adolf was talking about is between the nozzle and hop rubber! Maxx units require the nozzle to be of a certain length. In my M4s I use 21.3/21.4mm nozzles and they seal/feed just fine but YMMV. Also, if you're pulling 30 RPS and you have FPS drops it might be that you haven't cut the tappet plate fin: what happens is your gun cycles way too fast for the nozzle to be back in battery (fully extended into the hop rubber), shortening the tappet fin will anticipate the nozzle's release, but don't overdo it or your gun won't feed anymore (nozzle won't retract further enough to chamber bbs)1 point

i mean o rings between the front of the hop (around the inner barrel) to push the hop unit back from the upper (and by the inverse push the upper forward from the hop unit) it's the same tactic you'd use in most guns to ensure the hop is tight to the box so you get a more consistent seal.1 point -

I still hadn't received any word (or money) back from FRV, despite the apology email and promise of a refund before Christmas. PayPal dispute submitted last week and the refund notification came through yesterday. While the situation and length of time it took to resolve has pissed me off, I wouldn't have bought the C2R belt without it, which is fantastic and the service was exemplary. So, you know, trying to put a silver-lining on it and I think I have 😆1 point

I see stuff like this and I think back in the day I(and I’m sure most of the guys I worked with) would have swapped my left bollock to get my hands on something like that ! looking at it my first thought is “just what you need” I look at a lot of modern kit and I do sometimes think it’s overly complicated or has too many ‘functions’ to it where as this design just screams at you “simple but effective” . As you may have noticed I’m impressed with it , very well done . .1 point

No, that wasn't one of Toby's legendary builds. I remember he had to drop the ROF on the Thompson as the mags couldn't feed fast enough to keep up. He was a genius with a gearbox, and managed builds with just high speed gears and motors that would take a Mosfet or HPA these days.1 point
