  1. Being a sci fi buff I've always wanted to unleash my inner John 117 or Doomguy on the airsoft field. None of this MTP stuff or fancy plate carriers for me. Anyway, having been inspired by @Rogerborg's rather fantastic Warhammer 40k armour and having my eyes popped at rather mental cosplay piece prices on Etsy and the like, with the winter nights ahead I decided to build my own unique armour set from EVA foam. So, here goes. 20 quid worth of a camping/yoga/whatever mat fresh off Amazon. But none of that boring smeg for Eezer G. We're doing summat much more exciting... and it's going to get shot to shit too, authentic battle damage 😂 Did some measurements of my torso using a vest and started hacking at the mat with a nice sharp craft knife. Keeping the shape basic for now, with additions to come later. Measured my noggin and cut out a space for it, and here's what we end up with. As luck would have it, the shape I cut out for my bonce ideally suited shoulder armour bits, so I traced another one out and chopped away again. Next up, forearm and shin bits. More measuring and cutting, heres what we have. That's enough for tonight, happy with the start so far. Will dremel away the rough edges, sort out attachments and cut away some of the abdomen for ease of movement next I think. Loving the pattern, which I deliberately used for effect. Its worth noting I've never done anything like this before, so it could all still go tits up, however all a learning experience. Ebeneezer G

  2. Really great day out, even when losing most games. Ghillie cape/cobra hood is working wonderfully, had someone within two feet of me while lying down, and it enabled me to shoot many, many children 😈 I think some of the rentals got a bit confused with taking hits, buuuut they couldn't see me so I just shot them again if they acted alive. They seemed to get better through the day though, so they do learn!

Some AR builds I've finished in the last year or so. If I went by my usual social media schedule I'd end up not posting them for a couple of years which feels a waste so just overviews for now and I'll post more later. Krytac LVOA-S KWA LM4c TM SOCOM

  6. Good day at Special Ops at Emberton (nr Olney nr Milton Keynes) Everyone as friendly as always, people took their hits. Perhaps because they saw me setting a good example so many times 🤣 After yesterday's problems with my batteries it was pleasing to get through a day trouble free. Almost took the old AK out for a walk but ended up sticking with the M4 just because 4 hi cap mags on the belt is very reassuring. Made one 'hero moment' taking out the bomb carrier and his escort before returning the bomb to my team. Not bad for a fat old bloke with dodgy ankles knackered but happy... soaking in the bath 🛀

  7. You have to understand that the onus is on the buyer to make sure that overseas Retailers are made aware of the need for a defense written on a package. They don't have to accommodate any UK airsoft defense on their website. But really you should have done your research before you ourchased and to say you were ignorant of it is not going to save you in the eyes of the law, the information is literally plastered everywhere on UK Airsoft retailer sites, forums and Facebook groups. Before we left the EU there would be a good chance that it would have gotten through unscathed as Border Force only have the resources to stop pallets of shipments for random searches. Even if you had a UKARA number on the box, it would get seized (because the people doing the search on the ground are unlikely to know what a UKARA is and they wouldn't be able to check it's validity even if they did.) It would get reported and you get a destruction notice. You then need to contact them to ask them to check the UKARA number. Or prove that you're an Airsofter some other way (Regular skirmish receipts with your name and address on them etc). However UKARA is generally the only/easiest accepted defense in Border Forces eyes. However since we have left the EU, you will likely get the parcel tagged for Import fees, which means there is another opportunity other then random searches we had pre-brexit for it to get caught. At this point if it gets caught, it will get destroyed as you will be unable to prove any defense as you haven't played any airsoft let alone enough to be considered a regular. There is also a chance you can get fined and even potential time in custody (There is no precedent for it yet, but it's written into law as a possibility). If I were you I would be pleading with the Airsoft shop to do anything they can to get the rifle recalled ASAP for your own sake. Please think before you act next time, the more Airsoft rifles that get caught by people who import without a defense, the more it highlights Airsoft rifles as a problem in general, which could be used for nefarious purposes. Good luck

  8. I have fitted one. Although I have not fitted the Marui red dot personally, the area does look the same once the slide is fitted. I did also get this from Kim at Volante during my purchase. "I recommend to use it with RMR mountable aluminium housing as original FNX can't mount RMR size sights." I would email Kim at Volante if you have any questions as he is absolutely brilliant to deal with and I always find him helpful. The slide itself went on with minimal fitting. Certainly well made with good tolerances. There is a lack of full markings on the right of the slide. Better that than the wrong markings I guess. Metal RMR cover and sights would have been a nice extra. Recoil impulse has improved. I can still empty a full mag, rapid firing with no adverse cool down effect which is good enough for me. The obvious comparison has to be made with the Cybergun/VFC version of course. I made some mods to mine which need to be taken in to account. My VFC versions have the same internal upgrades: Azimuth lightweight blowback housing and nozzle. (This improves gas efficiency at the expense of a small amount of recoil impulse as I found the standard set up started to suffer cool down effects by the end of the mag if the gun was rapid fired). Marui HOP rubber, I key and inner barrel. (Standard set up was terrible). Guns Modify 125% recoil spring (for Glock 17) which is just a bit weaker than standard but fitted in conjunction with the lighter blowback housing to help fight cooldown. Handling both brands shows a similar weight and feel. No extreme size differences to note. Firing them both side by side shows similar FPS with green gas. VFC has the edge on recoil. VFC has better trademarks. Marui HOP beats VFC hands down. Fantastic stock unit, not even on halfway and lifts .30s with ease. VFC has a few minor QC 'foibles', most of which can be dealt with. There are many other details but the bottom line is the Marui version is a better skirmish gun out of the box (or with the metal slide) but the VFC has the edge on details. Once modified it does bring them closer. Different people want different things out of a gun but I feel the perfect FNX would be a hybrid of both. I hope this helps 🙂

  10. Had a great airsoft day today. Low numbers but I like those days, so much more tactical. All the players were in good mood , no issues with hit taking , hard faught games and blowing pumpkins up with pyro, what's not to love 😁 And the GBBR went well all day, infact the cold got to me before it did the to the rifle 🤣

Hi guys good to meet you.I am a player of a certain age that has rediscovered airsoft.I played a few years ago and have been drifting between airsoft and paintball.I now run with a small group of lads from Essex/Herts border. We have great fun and regularly play. The last outing i had with them was at Echelon airsoft in Gravesend (R.I.P. 😪).I love the cqb although am happy as a pig in sh*t in a ditch somewhere in a dark wooded area. I currently run with an ics cxp 323 tubular, standard rds, tactical flash light via remote.I have the bug again and so am looking to upgrade some of the internals.I will be scouring this forum to find recommended after market parts. Well hope to see/shoot you soon!

Ahoy and welcome. We have quite a few "veterans" here, in either human or airsoft years, and it's a more constructive environment for discussion that "lol jk m8" Facebook groups tend to be.

  15. In my humble opinion, the CYMA M14 is a fantastic rif, albeit a bit cumbersome. Decent hop unit out of the box etc. They always seem to shoot exceedingly well, and improve with modest fettling. I enjoy lobbing .30s through mine, with a scope fitted it performs very well. Bit heavy and long for throwing around in CQB, although it's all relative. Our grandfathers did room clearance with an SMLE and a foot and half of bayonet attached.

  16. There's a lot of stories about people's experiences importing rifs, some good & some bad, problem you have is that if yours gets stopped & you can't provide proof of a legal defence, there's a good chance it may be destroyed, or a slim chance it will be returned to the sender. Alternatively (fingers crossed🤞), yours may slip through the net without anybody spotting it (but I wouldn't hold your breath 😤) One member in particular has a lot of experience in importing from Italy, & the pitfalls when stuff gets stopped, @Asomodai will hopefully be along soon to enlighten as to if you have any options, in the meantime keep tracking your parcel if possible, might allow you to intercede if it stops moving & you've got a rough idea where ? Good luck

  17. Forged 6061-T6 upper/lower receiver Viper Tech BCM MCMR GBBR. M-LOK handguards, receiver pins, buffer tubes and buffers, buffer springs, gas blocks, and pistol grips are original parts from Bravo Company and V Seven. I installed Aimpoint AB's T2 Red Dot Sight(with Scalarworks LEAP) and Vortex's Micro 3X Magnifier on the upper receiver rail.

  19. First off, lay off the massive font. V7 gearboxes are somewhat different than V2/3. The cylinder head, piston head and gearset are all V7 specific. Some aftermarket cylinder heads have a shorter nozzle than the others so the air nozzle doesn't seal properly when the tappet plate is forward. The standard M14 uses a short shaft motor, the EBR uses a long shaft motor with the collar removed. Changing to a tight bore barrel will push the fps a fair bit but make sure you get the right barrel. The slots in the side to lock the hop unit in place are in a different place than on a V2/3 type hop unit so you need either an M14 specific barrel like the Prometheus EG M14 barrel or something with both sets of grooves like a zci.

  21. Yep, as the guys above have said, your mission should you choose to accept it, is to somehow create the persona of "a new but committed player", so becoming a member of your local site via whatever scheme they have in place, I'd also try to book yourself on to their next 3 games at least, ideally paying a deposit online that gives you a receipt as proof. Given that it takes next to no time to ship kit around the world, you need to get your finger out, receipts dated after customs grab your rif won't convince anybody, & you'll lose your rifle☹️

  22. Damn. Maybe I'm too forgiving. It was just very confusing in the morning, I'd shoot the rental kids, and they'd sort of run off behind some bushes and come back, one even dry fired at me when dead, so I pointed my gun and him and he puts his hand up and says "no I'm dead". Just a strange situation tbh. I held a lot of them off in that water tube game later on though, and they seemed to be taking their hits pretty well during that game. I didn't notice anyone else, personally. The wind didn't help at all though. 😂 I heard about this at the end, sounded like someone was walking along with a bare gun out, but if it was you with gun bags that's a serious overreaction. Christmas game should be good though. No sneaking for me at that one

  23. Worth asking your local site if you can become a member with out UKARA yet. I'm sure most will allow it as its money in their pockets and doesn't break any rules. If you get the letter about importing a RIF at least it would be something to justify it...
    1 point
  24. Indeed, although if Dibble ever did come knocking asking why you'd tried to import a RIF (we've had people say it's happened to them), then being able to show that you've been playing at all and have further sessions booked might provide a defence or at least mitigation. And if your intent is to play airsoft, then why not go and play airsoft? It's ace, rental packages or cheap two-tones are available, and of course it's never been an offence to purchase or possess a RIF inside the UK, if you can find someone willing to sell. Other defences are available. Rocking up to a WW2 reenactment society and saying "Gosh, I'm super interested, can I become a member? Like, right now." might be one way to get a defence, although it's a cad's trick (unless you actually are interested, and there are plenty of folk who do run impression kits), and I'd expect they'd be wise to it.
    1 point
  25. Column A, column B. None of them should be doing it. Export is irrelevant. Two offences are being committed: one at the point of manufacture, and another by possession with the intent to sell (to anyone, anywhere). But it's the publicising of it that's the real problem, and their "lol whatevs" attitude. The chances of it being an issue are tiny, but it's blithering idiocy to even risk it, since the State does get an occasional hard-on for anything firearms related, and Eagle6 are openly flaunting their contempt for the law. I just hope that they don't have any disgruntled customers who see it and figure out that it might be a way to stitch them up see justice done. Why it's an issue for everybody else is that the airsoft defence for selling a RIF could be removed on Ministerial whim: airsoft isn't even listed in the legislation, it's only mentioned in an explanatory note which is little more than an opinion piece, and a different opinion could be given tomorrow. Retailers are being trusted to self-police and uphold the letter and spirit of the laws around airsoft guns, and if too many of them get caught showing thumbing their noses, it could have consequences. It almost certainly won't, and the world will keep turning either way.

  28. Where do you get that information? Show us an example where any company has upgraded an airsoft weapon over the UK legal limit. Some manufacturers do provide their products over our limits from the factory because other countries have higher power limits. Legally those should be downgraded to sell in the UK but many retailers fail to do that. That's different to purposely making one illegal.

  31. The only advice I can give is to try and become a member at an airsoft site near you. Some sites have memberships which reduce the price of game days & purchases. This may help you prove to the authorities you're intention to play airsoft.

  32. Sorry to hear this. Not to kick you while you are down, but the DBoys KAR98k isn't even really suitable for airsoft skirmishing anyway, it's more of a WW2 reenactor prop or target plinker. I'd agree with trying to get it returned regardless of the legal situation. Best of luck, I hope it works out for you.

  35. It will be the same for anything like this that happens in airsoft, people will bring up the topic, the name and shame will happen People will express their opinions on the matter. Some will defend and others wont and in a weeks time it'll be old news and nothing will come of it

  36. You'll likely upgrade the hop rubber on most guns that you buy. I expect that many players buy a few rubbers and nubs at a time and swap them in as a matter of course.

  38. Oh, I missed that because of the text issue. As @EDcasesays, M14s are select fire, full auto, or fully semi-automatic. CYMAs come in a bit spicy from the factory, but any one that you buy in the UK should be down-sprung to be usable - PatrolBase at least claim that. But are, of course, out of stock.

google "exhaust expander", kits are available for about 20 quid, will need to be very careful in its use though, just enough pressure to straighten the pipe without stretching it or damaging threads etc . It's how i get dings exactly like that one out of roughly handled new exhausts.
