Yep, I used to do a LOT of mountain biking (back in the good old days of tiny frames and long, whippy seat pins) then I got a job commissioning away from home a lot and eating in hotels. Put on a LOT of weight. Few years back I got sick of my face wobbling when I walked so I lost 4.5 stone (portion control and calorie counting, no exclusions). Then my Mum died and I fell right off the wagon. Then smashed it into firewood and burned it. Put on anxiety meds that have a reputation for hindering weight control, then Dad developed Alzheimer's so 3 stone back on now and starting back down the road of eating better. So far I've knocked most of the snacking on the head and a couple of pounds have shifted. Exercise is a bit limited because all those years of mountain bikes with clipless pedals with bugger all float have knackered my knees and decades of being sat at a desk or in a car have screwed my back (software engineer then sales). Still, I managed it before so I'll do it again. Weight loss is as much about mindset as it is about what you eat!3 points -

Finally got something that had been on my list for quite a while now. And to boot, it's the gun of a deceased friend, which he had sold off prior to his death and which has now found its way to me on mysterious pathways 😌 Hephaestus HTS-14 Groza, 1st version, with the early full steel silencer and a Pilar scope (civil version of the military scope, that belongs on the Groza but is extremely hard to find), Just need different mount rings, these look aweful. Really happy about this! ☺️2 points

Hi all, please forgive me if I have posted this in the wrong section. Recently I posted a wanted advert up for a GBBR G28 The next day I was contacted by a member Dannywill (danielwill###@#####.com) who said he had one and that I should email him. it all seemed very good I asked him for some pics and he sent a load through it was a good deal, said he had recently broken his back and just wanted rid of most of his collection. He wanted a pick up but would post if needed but he was in Thurso in Scotland (the southern most tip) I agreed to by the rifle but said I would only pay via pay pal as the forum has advised me not to do bank transfers. He agreed but said “I'm presently having some technical hitches with my Paypal but my son is here to help me with his Paypal, Kindly let me know when you're ready to proceed with the purchase so I can send you the paypal address you will make the payment to.” Red flag No.1 So I asked for his phone number just as a back up but then he sent me this. ”Here's the paypal address you will make the payment to, ongoloerick@#####.com , Kindly make payment via family and friends, and please include your contact information and shipping address in the next mail. Thanks Daniel Wilson, ###### Crescent, Bettyhill,Thurso #### 819 334 #####” Strange I thought that’s not a UK number and so I checked the paypal and it only accepted $ USD I pushed him on it and said I would have to speak to him on the phone before I would send any money and that the phone number he had provided seemed not to work to which he replied. ”My phone is bad Sam, it accidentally fell of while in water while cleaning an hot water tank rupture I had on Monday, I think I will get a new phone once I had some cash on me.” It was getting more dodgy by the message I asked him again for a number to which he sent another American number saying it was his son who was over from America to look after him after breaking his back. I told him I’m not giving him any money and at which point he called me from an phone number in Great Falls Montan USA and was even more sketchy on the phone. I said to email me a picture of a utility bill or junk mail with the address he had given me on it to which he refused. He then kept calling me from the same Montan number demanding I Pay. He told me he would right my name on a bit of paper next to the rifle but never sent it this would only prove he had a G28 not that it was in Scotland. his last message was as follows “Sam, How I Wish you Know me personally, you would really no am a man of my word, My Son Eric is a student in the USA, he has only been home to take care of me since I had an accident if you doubt this, I would advice you to come for a pickup, I will be waiting for you right in the front of my house or you make half payment and if you refuse to balance me up after receiving the goods on your end, I will filed up a case against you, let me know if you're okay with this” I never replied. We then found an advert from October 2020 with the exact same description and pics that he had sent but collection from Bedford. we contacted the original seller from the 2020 advert who assured us it was sold in 2021. He was pissed they had used his images as part of a scam and reported the guy. This is just a warning to other to be very careful when buying stuff and if anything seem even remotely dodgy don’t do it!!! and to the mods please look in to this and ban Danny Will! Some pics attached.1 point

Galaxy MP5k, love the clean classic lines of this little gem and needed something fun for evening cqb. Played a game with it stock however and it was fairly lackluster. Added a tracer unit, new ht motor and better lipo. Second game session with it last week and what a difference, great little piece of kit. The rear sling mount broke quickly so have drilled that out and replaced it with an old keyring. Also added a tritium vial to the front post, great idea nicked from a few pages back.1 point

Ahoy and welcome. I'm not sure you're being entirely sincere about "experts" and "intelligent athletes", but we can work with it. Fat Losers thread: You're not going to get lean and fit just from crawling through the wood every couple of Sundays (weather permitting), so I'd drop the carbs, get on your bike, and view leaping through the undergrowth as the destination, not the journey. On the airsofting, the first thing I'd do it is to rent at your local site. You'll get a basic electric carbine, hi-cap mag and a bottle of BBs, plus some ropey eye protection for maybe £20 extra (and the BBs will be worth half of that). If you have a bad day due to nobjockey players or marshals, don't despair, try another site. You don't need camo or anything tacticool, just boots with decent ankle support, and I really wouldn't skimp there as you don't want to have to be hauled out of the depths of Mirkwood with your feet pointing arsey-versey.1 point

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
Jaylordofwaargh reacted to Tactical Pith Helmet for a topic
Today started badly. The (forward wired) battery wire in my main M4 had been pushed back into the body of the rif under the gearbox and stopped the mag from locating when I tried to chrono. Since I was in a rush, I went to grab my spare M4, only to find the motor spinning away in the grip and not engaging at all. A bit of thinking sorted the wire out in rif number one, as looking at gnu two, I could see where it is supposed to run. Extremely simple two second fix but being late and flustered did not help. The rest of the day went fine. Good gameplay and lots of sneaking through the undergrowth bumping the other team and seeing who was fastest on the trigger, usually them tbh, as I misidentified a couple of people as friendlies! A team mate actually stand on me, much to his surprise, as I was sneaking up on a group of players, so at least my camo and fieldcraft must have been on point. No complicated storylines as ‘rona limits the group carrying etc, but I thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay despite some people moaning about non-hit taking. Marshals coped with the situation really well and had the correct words with a couple of lads. Lots of running, leaping and shouting followed. Several girls played today, which is nice to see. Cold sausages and salad for lunch since I am following the AFUK low carb diet… drank six litres of water in field. Seriously, I wonder how anyone gets by with a ’56 pattern bottle and bugger all else hydration wise. The site tech shimmed the motor on gnu two for nix as he is a diamond of a chap. I kind of wish that I’d made the effort to take a themed loadout, since a few people had done so, but my standard skirmish rig is pretty tried and tested and has evolved through the years. Went home drenched in sweat with two working guns, a big grin and a strong desire for a G&T. Good day out.1 point -

Gotta love a dreamer ? Just because you painted a hat instead of the run of the mill gun/tac gear abortion’s we usually see then I’m afraid to say my friend that this uniqueness still does NOT make it a ‘custom’ paint job , to qualify as said ‘custom’ paint job it still needs some curb appeal and or some finesse to it and not just look like you jizzed all over it with a rattle can ! 🤦♂️ awfully sorry .1 point

Also, the Maple Leaf MR hop is supposed to mimic an r-hop patch, but it's a £10 rubber. Pair it with an omega nub and it's basically the same thing. I've converted totally away from r-hop patches myself and swear by all my Maple Leaf setups.1 point

another one for the list- russian optics, pretty much universally worse than the western equivalents, most weigh about 3 tons, mounting on the siderail is a pain in the ass for battery fitment, their approach to the term "bore offset" is to laugh, they're awful for poking you in the stomach if you have the rifle slung and some of them don't work indoors. but goddamn if they ain't the steampunkest.1 point -

Webley MK VI, awful things but cool AF. 1911s. Tiny gas capacity but cool AF. Pistols in airsoft in general except MK23s. Go for it. CYMA M14s are strangely addictive. By some strange alchemy they have great range, and just as importantly, actually fit the average human frame. Reliability wise they are pretty bulletproof and outshoot most aegs out of the box. They are front heavy though..!1 point -

That was about 21 for me, sadly. The struggle has been real since then, I sorted myself out in my 30s with restricted hours eating, lots of cycling, and some weights, but then I made the mistake of buying a motorised bicycle, and, oops, that was that. But as God is my witness, I will see my toes again. Absolutely, which is why it's so important to find a diet that you can stick to. I'm amazed how easy it's been to drop the bad carbs, after the first week. Hunger pangs and cravings have plummeted and restricted hours eating is a doddle. There's some evidence that just 3 x 10 minutes of interval sprints a week can have most of the health benefits of regular daily exercise, although that's not for me, I prefer moderate daily cycling. I would highlight the benefits of an indoor option like an exercise bike so that you don't have an excuse to skip it in bad weather.1 point

The Healthy Airsofters Thread
Lozart reacted to Tactical Pith Helmet for a topic
I've learned a few new terms/words reading this thread, interesting stuff that I wouldn't have stumbled across otherwise perhaps. Anyhow... Six or so years ago I trained martial arts a minimum of 45mins a day at home in the week, 3 or 4 hours on a Saturday, plus two 2 1/2 hour mid-week classes, and the odd full day class at the weekend. I ate what the fuck I liked. I am not one for tinned food or sweets, but I did often make myself game pies in a large loaf tin and eat the lot at a sitting, with chips. I was just over 10 stone for years (5'11"). My teacher remarked that it was obvious who trained hard at home by what they ate when we all went out for a Chinese. The wiry lads who had a lot of strength ate huge amounts, including noodles/dumplings etc, the flabbier fellows usually ate a fair bit less. One diet/routine is not for everyone. For one thing, passed a certain age, diet alone will not keep that Dad gut away. For the time pressed, diet may have to lead where there is no time for exercise. Wish I was that fit still, partly as I enjoyed eating entire multipacks of crisps at a time and not getting fat. Hardly scientific I know, but observations nonetheless. Edit: Grammar1 point -

Gun picture thread
Rollade reacted to SeniorSpaz87 for a topic
Worked on my buddies KWA SR-16 yesterday. Its an old gun, so it needed work internally and externally. Internally it got a Gate Titan, a new M100, and while I am yet to test its range I have both Prommy purples and Maple Leaf Macrons for it should it need a bucking. Gears, shimming, piston, cylinder, and barrel were done by me a few years back and look fine. Externally he wanted to go two tone, so new G&P rail covers (I prefer the dimpled ones but the blocked were half off so he wanted those), new PTS EPG, new sling mount, and I loaned him one of my good EOTECH replicas, real MBUS irons, PTS EPM1-S, and my two tone Rogers Super Stock for the photo. Before: After: Also my Bingo m249 “Sunfish” is externally complete with the new optic. A fully trademarked 1.5x-6x ELCAN SpecterDR in bronze, with a RS ELCAN 1.5x-6x killflash cause this thing was pricey and the last thing I want is to have it shot out. For those of you who dont know Sunfish was my first HPA gun, and is the first m249 Bingo Airsoft Designs did. For those of you who watch AirsoftAlfonse, his HPA 249 is also a Bingo though newer than mine. We run them together sometimes. I bought it non-working and fixed it up over time, having no idea what I was doing. She has the oldest Polarstar LMG Fusion Engine in the US and possibly the world according to Polarstar themselves. They dont even make the solenoids for it anymore - I have to write up Polarstar and get them to make me custom ones whenever one fails. She recently got upgraded to Gen 3 electronics, and I custom wired in Bullgear equipment to use Bullgear m249 mags, so no more weak feeding box mags. I need to give her another once over inside in preparation for the Fall MilSim season - she seems to be using too much air and the spread is less than ideal. Hopefully its just a bucking change, but who knows.1 point -

Fresh from Mark at FMJUK, here’s my crack at building a DMR Semi only, chronos in at 430-435 with 0.2’s. Started life as a two-tone Cyma that needed some tlc. Fresh spring, new hop unit+barrel, changed the motor to a higher torque Infinity and rewired it for standard Gate-style mosfets. Picked up a wooden stock from Airsofttiger. Sanded, stained and finished etc. Sanded off seam lines, got some slightly unusual (but real-steel accurate) Winchester trades cut and sent it off for a coat of Cerakote E110 Midnight.1 point

Yet Another Gear Issue.
Rogerborg reacted to LazzurusMan for a topic
So, I've installed my gears, shimmed them, adjusted motor height and tested the whole thing without the piston and cylinder. It sounds horrible. I open her up, and this is what the bevel gear looks like. Is this shimmed too close to the motor? Motor height too high or low? Please don't tell me I've ruined it and need to buy another set of gears.0 points -
