  1. I thoroughly enjoy watching people with no military experience telling others to not wear patches they haven’t earned. you get the same tools in road cycling over the last 15 years since British cycling decided to throw a lot of cash at a sport that used to be the preserve of hobbyists. now Everyman and his dog owns a 10k bike for the Sunday club run they all say you can’t/shouldn’t wear team jerseys/world rainbow bands/tour jerseys etc. this picture made them all apoplectic

  2. As an ex-serviceman, stolen valour genuinely doesn't bother me, nor the people I know, unless they're trying to get something out of it/expect something. The amount of times I've seen a walt in pubs chatting up women is uncountable, and every time me and my friends just laugh at him at our table because at the end of the day, it's not really harming anyone, and they're not disrespecting those who do/did serve. The only time I can understand a serviceman going off on a stolen valour is if one of their friends was KIA, in which case ol' walty's gonna be in for a rude awakening. But rocking a patch in airsoft? I couldn't see that as being disrespectful. If anything they're only showing their support by rocking a unit patch, or they're making a tit of themself, depending on the player.

  3. The way I see it is that if wearing a unit patch or one relating to some special forces team allows you to gain more enjoyment out of the hobby then fire ahead, we're all LARPers at the end of the day. It's just a bit awkward for everyone when you've got people showing up and taking the LARPing to the extreme by claiming to be something that they're not and expecting people to "follow orders" while getting shouted abuse. I've seen more non-serving members of this community (airsoft as a whole I should say not the AFUK in particular) get absolutely raging over stolen valour than I have seen actual serving or previously served members of the forces getting annoyed over it. Either way LARP on

  4. This is the thing for me. There's a huge difference between trying to complete a loadout and walting and it seems that most of the people getting all hot and bothered about "stolen valour" aren't actually servicemen at all but wannabe try hards. I mean yes, there's the whole "don't wear something if it has to be earned" like a commando insignia or whatever but if ANYONE tells me that they think a 14 year old kid or some overweight, middle aged weekend warrior is honestly trying to make out that they served by wearing an SAS badge to a Sunday skirmish then they're being bell ends. The old boys covered in gongs at remembrance services or people trying to pass themselves off for a discount or special treatment are the problem, not a few airsofters looking to replicate a 90's Delta operator!

  5. I don't have a problem with patches in airsoft. As others have said, we're all playing dress up at the end of the day. Airsofters wearing impression kit are not the same as the wankers that buy berets and medals off eBay and pass themselves off as veterans at November ceremonies. Me and my mates all wore our issued MTP when we first started a couple of years ago because why pay for extra kit when we had free stuff? No rank slides though!

  6. Well said, and a good summary! Sometimes wonder if half the "Walt Hunters" are actually Walts themselves. There's reference to us "Airsoft Mongs" however I've bumped into quite a few current and Ex-mil in the sport, all of whom enjoy it and have no issue with anyones setups. Personally, I have no desire to dress up in MTP or MARPAT however if someone wants to then fair play to them. Some of the recreations of real-life loadouts I've seen at my local site are impressive and we have to acknowledge that a substantial part of Airsoft consists of cosplay, whether that be lasgun-wielding superhuman hulks from thousands of years into the future, Xenomorph-slaying Colonial Marines, Master Chief/Doomguy impersonators or WW2 reenactors- all of which are good fun and show off ones individuality.

  10. Just between us lot, I'm not really from the 40th century or using a laser gun. Anyone who's at a site to play with toy guns should have their expectations set firmly to silly and frivolous. If you're offended by what you see, you can have a quiet, friendly word about it, and explain your fee-fees. If the response is a shrug or hostility, then either suck it up, leave, or take it to the site if you think it crosses a line. First person to rage loses, and should find a different hobby.

  11. I've been unable to find anything on http://www.bailii.org/ The closest case law that seems relevant (that I can find) is Cooke vs CPP, about the Police Act, impersonation, and the sale of police equipment. The justices took a very broad interpretation of lawful purpose, up to and including a "fancy dress party", and held that mens rea (guilty mind) must be present in a criminal case. https://www.bailii.org/cgi-bin/format.cgi?doc=/ew/cases/EWHC/Admin/2015/3312.html&query="fancy-dress+party" However, they also criticised the law for being vague as to the burden of proof, and the VCRA, the subsequent 2007 amendment, and the anonymous Home Office explanatory note cover in some detail a defence scheme that is essentially the UKARA process. tl;dr version - dunno, it could go either way. I'd be happy for either Fat Bobs or AirsoftWorld to be test cases, given that they both openly sell without a real defence.

  12. There is no such thing as ‘stolen valor/valour’ in the UK There is ‘walting’ ((There are parts of the Armed Forces Act that cover using uniforms to impersonate the services, and fraud legislation for the undercurrent of what someone is up to - eg conning people)) You get the ‘out rage’ clubs and walt hunting hobbiests, but they may be looked on as more sad than some of the ‘walts’ they hunt down. (Eg local care in the community individual that likes to wear a beret being hunted down and ‘exposed’ by keyboard warriors Any ‘normal’ service person or ex service person doesn’t care about people who dress up to play games (actually they care about the ones who pay extra on eBay for their kit) They do care about people who are bigging themselves up as someone they aren’t, or are conning with fake ‘hero’ charities (or ‘real’ hero charities with excessive ‘admin expenses’) As far as airsoft is concerned if you aren’t allowed to wear patches then why to you need RIFs? The entire justification to add an extra skirmisher defence by statutory instrument above the explicit defences in the core VCRA legislation is for the realistic immersion. Dressing up has been recognised as a core element to airsoft. Take that away to a bare uniform without patch’s and you can just use a coloured IF Don’t be a dickhead and pretend that you are something that you aren’t Do dress up with good ‘fancy dress’ if that’s what you like to do Don’t make yourself a personal security risk * * our paintball team logo is based on a genuine US unit. One of our founder members is a former Royal Marine and our original clothing came from a company who does unit clothing. If you don’t look at the detail it looked like a unit t shirt etc. I warned off a team mate on the way to a game. We stopped off at a garage, and he walked back out in ‘unit style’ t shirt, DPM trousers, boots, with short haircut, newspaper tucked under his arm, coffee in hand …… coming out of a garage at a garrison town. Perfect fodder for an opportunist. Even for someone who is going to pick someone to monitor and watch the individual and their car, follow them the next morning driving onto a military base - a ‘confirmed’ valid target with little awareness A soldier ought to be briefed on current alert states, any local risks and being aware of their surroundings. A bloke out for a sunday game has no idea what current risks are to service personnel and has little awareness Only if you’re prepared to buy my lunch when I trump your cadet corporal rank slide with my DCGS challenge coin On a sensible note - I’d recommend that anyone who wears uniform for a real purpose doesn’t go out playing in their work uniform, unless you have plenty of sets. Just more washing to get yourself back to standard after playing in the woods (Of course combat uniform is meant to get battered and dirty - but you try saying that when you walk into barracks or the cadet hut in a dirty crumpled uniform)

You will get a fast ROF with a Glock 18C Gas blockback. Until it explodes. Its fun on the way there though. Have you considered aiming?

  16. Great day at Tuddenham with the lowly G&G M4. It's Skirmish at the end of the month so the usual simple games with nothing too complicated. Marshalling was to the usual high standard, weather was bloody muggy, and due to a series of things going wrong, I ended up going on my own. I was surprised at how much enjoyable not parenting and playing was, since I originally got into airsoft to spend time with the lad. Some well spirited gameplay, especially in the afternoon, and a great load of fun around the village area with the buildings. Had some decent scraps around the containers and managed to keep a group hunting for me by the simple expedient of lying down where they expected me to be ducking around the tyres etc. Stalked a player in the shower block area as he did the same to me and we both hit each other simultaneously, which gave us a good laugh. Got hit in the back a fair few times as the opposing team could actually flank properly. Nice to see a girl leading the team as player marshal, btter still to see her getting players to push up and exploit the ground well. More power to her I say. A few moans from some re: hit taking but I saw nothing but good sportsmanship all day. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed myself despite the huge disappointment of missing out on the Namsoft weekend.

  17. why a fast rps? if it takes more than 1 hit at practical pistol engagement ranges then it's a failure of the target not the equipment.....

Picked up a convertible 1/2 point sling on Amazon afterwards and trying it whilst tarting about the house dressed up... errr sorry I mean trying out my updated loadout it felt good. if it doesn't work I'll wear it conventionally or just ditch it. No hassles.

  20. Yes I’m in Tennessee, US. Here they regulate indoor maximum 400fps under 1.5 jz. Semi only no minimum engagement however outdoors can regulate different engagements with caps of 450 depending on the weapon class.

  21. 100% not UK as you can't get the tan M90X's over here. @Str8airsoft I lost FPS in my M904E as well (same rifle as yours apart from the stock). The problem for me was that the spring in it is a bit cheap and nasty and had compressed over time, losing me around 25 to 30 FPS on 0.20g BBs. A Guarder SP100 spring brought things back to normal (the compressed stock DE spring was 10mm shorter than the Guarder SP100, and the DE spring also did not have tighter coils at one end).

  24. The law states that a buyer of a RIF must be over 18 and have a valid defence. This is done by retailers with 'defences' such as UKARA, Reenactment Society membership, Museum Curator, Film/TV production. For private sales its the sellers responsibility to ensure the buyer is a legitimate airsofter. You can sell to anyone (if you think they are legit) BUT if that person then commits a crime with the RIF then it can come back to you being prosecuted depending on the gravity of the crime. (Has there been a case of a seller being prosecuted?)

    Inconsistent hop

Personally, I'd fit a Gate Titan or Aster but Perun V2 Hybrid would also work. Basically anything that senses the gear rotation to be able to stop it in the same place each time. That being said, it doesn't actually matter all that much unless you're getting feeding issues or you're trying to get accurate pre-cocking. Inconsistent hop is unlikely to be adversely affected by the piston not stopping in the same place. I'd also get rid of all that bloody PTFE tape. There doesn't look to be much in the way of lubrication either (although that may just be the picture).

  27. To add on to the other lads, the law states it's illegal to sell an RIF to someone without a UKARA membership. This means no goods or currency can be exchanged as payment for the RIF. If you're gifting the RIF to your friend, with nothing being exchanged in return, then it's perfectly legal.

  28. This is something that actually confused me when I got back into the hobby. I started 16 years ago and back then people would wear patches to complete their loadouts. People would do accurate impression kits for the SAS, Navy Seals etc, patches and all, but never claimed to be part of the units. It was all about authenticity and creating the perfect look, as we can all agree that dress-up is a large part of the hobby for a lot of people. When I got back into the hobby 2 years ago, the feeling I got from a lot of people was "oh, you can't wear those patches because you haven't earned them." Now, it didn't really affect me since I prefered doing contractor and mercenary loadouts, or intelligence agency stuff which was all designed to be anonymous anyway (CIA agents don't exactly wear patches saying "hey, I'm your local CIA agent"), but I still found it strange. I get the stolen valour argument. Stolen valour sucks, and people who engage in it are disrespectful idiots. However, people who just wear patches for dress-up, I just don't see the issue. If someone wants to dress up like a certain unit because they like that unit, I say go for it.

    Inconsistent hop

Well the energy output suggests it's a hop up issue. As you guessed, it's most likely the hop arm being wobbly/loose, or it could be the tensioner being way too soft. The harder the tensioner (and stiffer the arm), the more repeatable the backspin.

  30. No Electric pistol has fast RPS. TM Hi Capa Xtreme is the only one I would go for in terms of GBB. Considering how many sites are banning full auto under 30 metres, its a little useless to consider high RPS as important in a pistol form factor.

  32. IMHO, apartments or houses or more likely student accommodation, its the new boom industry, university education. My city has suddenly built 10 large student accommodation complexes that each easily takes 3,000 students. Given the number that exist already and that the capacity of the university is less than the capacity of the accommodation, there is no room to expand the universities as they have a maximum number of students that they can take, makes you wonder what is going on with property developers. So don't be surprised if the place has a big complex built on it or apartment bock.

    SLPR regulator removal.

Yes sir! You can either just unscrew it, but you will get a poof of air released when the reg comes off. Or, you can turn the reg right down, purge it by connecting and disconnecting your line a few times, then just unscrew. Just be careful that you’re unscrewing the lpr from the bottle reg, and not the bottle reg from the bottle!

  39. You might be right as a number of items are marked as a 10~14 day lead time, Wouldn’t be surprised if TG and Gunfire have linked up with Daves and Patrolbase and once a week a van drives over from Poland, Rather than risk UPS, I work in logistics and that’s exactly what we do,it’s easier and safer to load one van to drive direct to the UK,then the driver picks up couple of loads enroute and touts around for something to take back to Poland.

  40. Though at the price Dave Custom Airsoft is asking he can f*ck off. £340 for a budget E&L that retails for £190 elsewhere (WGC Shop)...There is only so far you can take the piss even if you are UK based. I would rather order from WGC and chance Border Control and added fees than pay £340.

  43. I mean, people could have ran late, stuck in traffic etc but I get where your coming from. One of my major annoyances is people arriving late to the cinema. Why would you pay for a movie to arrive late missing some of it. anyway back to Airsoft. My main thing is the amount of sitting time you get at a lot of sites, lunch included. The mall gave you 45 mins and was clear, you miss the game brief your not playing. And had a short turnaround in between games. some sites seem to run 60% safe zone to 40% game zone action some days it seems which is really annoying. late starts piss me off too. I get up early on a Sunday to travel into the countryside to then have to sit around for over an hour as the safety brief isn’t until 10am even through the website said arrive by 8.30. What’s that all about!!

  46. This looks compelling at first glance, however, Patrol Base are slapping their classic extortionate mark up on the products. For example, on their new TG x PB featured product page: Double Eagle M904R via Taiwan Gun = £98 Double Eagle M904R via Patrol Base = £170 PB is x1.75 more expensive in this example, a bunch of other products i cross referenced where the same if not worse. Most of us order from TG over PB for 3 main reasons: TG is drastically cheaper PB never has items in stock TG has far greater selection Of the 12 TG x PB featured products on their site (maybe even the only 12 items in this new offering, i dont see more?), only 1 is in stock. So in all, this looked great at first glance, but sadly it means pretty much nothing for us.

    g&g mosfet burnt out

Was the battery also lying around for years unused? If so then sight unseen I'd guess it wasn't capable of pulling the spring past compression, the motor stalled and the fuse threw itself on its sword. Unless there's a particular reason you want to stick with nimh then I'd agree with going 7.4V lipo, and I'd also lube the gearbox. At a minimum, get some silicone oil in there via the nozzle and the cut out slot, then blow it out the nozzle before putting the hop/barrel back.

  48. Police need to be equipped with fully automatic woodchippers. We need a Woodchipper Pride Month, I already have a flag in mind. I hope, I really hope, that they look into whoever sold the nonce that RIF and do them for it if they don't have a rock solid defence. And when I rant about AirsoftWorld and Fat Bobs selling to anyone who asks without a real defence, this is why.
