NAF 2022 - is it worth my time?
Cannonfodder and 2 others reacted to Druid799 for a topic
Well I’ve been to most and can happily say the gameplay absolutely sucks like a busted hoover !🤦♂️ Really can be that bad , you have bottlenecks , blindfiring , players not taking their hits , players not pushing forward , sitting around chatting , etc , etc you name the gameday complaint and I 100% guarantee you’ll encounter it multiple times through out the day , I’ve always said there’s just too many players to be able to run an effective game BUT and this is the important bit for me I don’t see any of that as really that big a negative because when you think about it when are you EVER going to get a chance to play with 2000+ players ? 😱 Me ? I don’t go for the gameplay i go for the social side of it , now don’t get me wrong I do enjoy the game(me and my mate just play our own game spending the day trying to shoot as many players as we can AND as inventively as possible!😂)plus I’ll often arrange to meet up with forum/Facebook group members just to put a face to a name as much as anything , I always take a shit load of kit to sell at the ‘airsoft car boot’ sale and I always go with my best mate(we both have very high stress jobs so it’s just nice to get away from everything for a couple of day , forget about work , act like a pair of stupid kids and just generally chill out and decompress 😁) plus various other friends and team mates come and go each yr so there’s always a small group of us . For me if you go expecting a well organised fast paced Mil-Sim event then you are SERIOUSLY going to be sorely disappointed ☹️ BUT if you go with zero expectations and just take it for what it is I’d say you should have a pleasant experience . Is it worth the couple of hundred pounds it’ll end up costing ? Not sure about that anymore but again it’s up too you in the end . 🤞 live long and prosper.😉3 points -

LCT LTS Keymod 13.5 This wasn't supposed to arrive for another week, so I'm very pleased. Strangely serendipitous as someone is coming to buy my Silverback today. I'm totally new to the AK platform, but after having had a crack on a few at the battlesim the other week I had to have one. But I love my tactical bling so I went modern AK. Unboxing/first impressions video to follow.3 points -

Hi all! First and foremost I would just like to show my appreciation to everyone in the forum, especially admins/mods, for all of the excellent information readily available, which is invaluable to a newbie like me! I have been making my way through it, familoarising myself with the rules and forum sections etc. I am an active member on other forums like this (within different hobbies) so I had a good idea as to how this would work, but wanted to be sure I understood things before making my first post! I had been exploring the idea of getting into airsoft for a while now however Covid and work had got in the way. I finally decided to take the plunge into the world of airsoft a few weeks back, visiting a (somewhat) local shop to ask for advice and get my first beginner gear (For anyone interested it was Bomb up in Warrington). Following that, I went to one of their pistol club nights and had a great time, everyone was really friendly and more than happy to help me out and offer advice. I have booked my first skirmish in at Outpost airsoft near Chester for the full day on 16th April and I am extremely excited for it, whilst also a tad nervous as despite being in my 20s, my fitness is not what it was pre lockdown, largely due to my office job, working from home for a good portion of that time, stopping going the gym and Tarkov.... 😂 I have all the gear I need and will wait patiently for my UKARA defense before I buy my first gun, therefore will be using rentals until then as I don't really see the point in investing in a two tone only to replace it 2 months later! Any advice or knowledge you can bestow upon a complete beginner like me would be greatly appreciated!2 points -

NAF 2022 - is it worth my time?
Cannonfodder and one other reacted to Speedbird_666 for a topic
GZ is my local site. I live 20mins away from it. In the 16-odd years I've been playing, not once did I think the NAF would be a good idea from a gameplay perspective. I mean, the place sucks with 200-300 players on site during a 'normal' skirmish day with bottleneck tracks, shit terrain and millions of rhododendron bushes, so the thought of it being scaled-up by an order of magnitude (with commensurate price increase) definitely does not appeal. BUT...... GZ are trying something new with a two day Milsim-ish (battlesim??) event in May - Operation Green Sceptre That seems to be a much more compelling event in my mind - the site itself would probably work quite well in the ammo-limited, Milsim scenario-driven context. Less likely to see the gameplay completely stopped by a kiddie with a drum mag hidden under a bush at the top of a track seemly invulnerable to BB hits.2 points -

Hey guys, I’ve played many weekender events over the years but have never attended the National Airsoft Festival. A couple of friends are adamant that it’s going to be awesome, but I’m massively on the fence given conversations that I’ve had over the years and the YT videos I’ve watched about the event. I’m concerned about the level of gameplay and the quality of the games. I’ve heard that the pace is very slow and the games aren’t marshalled with any consistency. What’s everyone’s opinion of the event? Is it worth my £100 investment…1 point -

That's the problem. A sizeable proportion of B6s on the market are lesser quality clones and are not made by SkyRC. I would recommend a SkyRC S65 as a simple, reasonably priced AC smart charger. It'll do far more than what most Airsofters actually need.1 point -

Hi @Karl Serjeantand welcome aboard the good ship Afuk.👍 Well your first time will be terrifying! You will get rinsed and you will return home a bloodied and welt ridden mess and wondering why you paid good money to get that look. The rules that will be barked at you regarding safety and game play will leave you bewildered and confused. You will be shouted at by experienced players for not being in the right place at the right time or obscuring their line of sight. Make sure your kit is up to date and worn correctly and that you are fully acquainted with the external and internal workings of your weapons or you might be laughed at. Wear good quality eyepro( eye protection. Make sure you learn these terms or you will be laughed at) Look attentive during briefings even if they last 40 mins. You may be picked on to answer a question.Always a source of amusement for regulars!🤭 Other than the above just enjoy yourself and have fun.😊 disregard all of above mate.......you will love it 👍😀 regards1 point -

Reforger: Operation Grimsky II
Emergencychimps reacted to Skullchewer for a topic
From the rules page: " SLEEPING All sleeping outside of the Dedicated down time is considered ‘in game’. A section should sleep together and should not just flake off as individuals as and when they feel the need to. Your section is either in the battle or they are out of it. Even during DDT sleeping Eye protection is Advised Sleeping will likely be enforced by the Team Leaders when you return from a mission. He/she will give you adequate time for you to get your heads down after you have completed your post mission process. " So I am guessing it will not be 24 hour non stop. Apparently there's going to be a live stream at some point, with a Q&A,1 point -

Think it was about 30 a side. Probably perfect numbers for a skirmish day. When it gets to 50+ a side neither team can progress. About 70% had never played there before either so regulars were at an advantage1 point

Well, maybe. The only name on our very tenuous defence is "Sam Hardy" in Circular 031 / 2007. What hath been given by a rando can be taken away by a rando. Thanks, @Johndaniel4863, it's good to get a view from inside. Has there been a change in policy, or is it more a case of Border Force just enforcing the existing policy now? We can't control what foreign sellers actually do, and I doubt they're going to do more than put a UKARA on the packaging. It seems like this just isn't cutting it any more (if it ever did), and that if RIFs are spotted (and they might not be), that we're likely to have to go through the whole back-and-forth process. Is that a fair assessment? I mean, is there really any point in having a UKARA number put on the package now? I'm minded to wonder if doing so is making it more likely to be spotted and pounced on.1 point

It's a while since I had one of these, but I think Monkeywrencher is correct. I'm sure the "nozzle" at the end of the CO2 container holds the valve mechanism and it's the action of this hitting the end of the new replacement piston head that releases a small amount of CO2, sufficient to send the bb on its way. I have something similar in my CO2 powered Sig Sauer MCX 0.177 pellet rifle. The amount of CO2 needed isn't that great to push out the projectile at airsoft speeds.1 point

Forum Rules
Callsign Warden reacted to Deva for a topic
Anyone not cohering with these rules will face a suspension, ban or deletion of their account, this includes all posts and topics. The Guidelines • Search There is a search feature on this forum that will help you to find information that may have already been posted up. Often people experience very similar problems so the chances are that your question has already been answered is highly likely. Regulars to the forums will usually be aware if your question has already been answered several times before, so some may become annoyed you didn't use the search feature. There is a three character minimum length for searching, i.e. MP5, hpa, fps. Try using different search terms to get more results. • Giving advice Give solid advice only if you are sure what you are talking about. Don't mislead people as at best you are risking their money, and at worst, you are risking their safety. It's much better to say your only guessing and let others add to your answer than to lead the person into doing something wrong, and coming back and pointing the finger at you. • Post in the appropriate sub-forums If you want to chat about the latest Airsoft releases, do it in "Latest News". If you are new to the forums and want to ask a question, it might be best in the "Advice & Technical Help" forum. If you want to sell something, the "Classifieds" forums are the place to announce it. Basically, have a look at all the categories and post where you think your topic will be best suited. • Use descriptive titles for new topics Posting a topic with the title "Look here!", or "Please help", will not attract the attention of the users. If you use titles like "JG G36C gearbox problem", or "New gun from ICS!", more people will view your post and will know what they are about look at. Do not post titles in ALL CAPS, do not post misleading titles ("clickbait"). • Use good English and check your spelling! "1337-Speak" should also not be used on these boards. Nor should "text speak", use your word processing software to check for basic spelling and grammar errors, we aren't looking for the best English, but it is a lot easier to read a checked post, than another like, "hi, wel i av a prob wiv me gun u c nd i dnt no wot 2 do". Adding punctuation, full stops and commas make it easier to read. • Use Personal Mail (PM) Instead of posting in a Sales / Swaps topic which will cause it to 'bump' that topic just use your PM to communicate asking and answering questions. Sellers should be aware that any post, for whatever reason (especially answering questions or making a comment), that are before the 7 days is considered a bump. If you cannot receive PM then try deleting some old ones to free up space. • Caps lock Do not post in all Caps lock as it looks like you are shouting at somebody and is also very annoying to read. Topic and advert titles are to be in normal sentence case, not in all CAPITALS. • Don't post duplicate topics Multiple topics started about the same thing may be deleted, merged or moved at the moderators' or my discretion. If you intend on using the Classifieds forum you must read and follow the rules • Use "Smileys" effectively "Smileys" can be used in your forum posts. If you are joking about something, use them to help indicate that your statement was made humorously. They can be used to indicate your mood and show that something was not meant to be taken seriously. If you don't use them, people will assume you are being serious. Arguments have broken out before because of a misunderstood joke. • No Arguing Don't argue, if you feel offended by the comments of another user or believe a post is offensive, report it to the moderators, and they or I will be deal with it. Starting a fight may result in sanctions for all those involved. Our first decision is our final one! • Be nice to other forum users Treat others as you would like to be treated to yourself. There is absolutely no need to be abusive on these forums. If you are then your posts / topics will be edited or deleted, you may be given a warning, you may get your account suspended, and persistent offenders will be banned. • Post Spam Don't post just to raise your post count, there is no bonus in it, and moderators will become frustrated with the spam. Continued post spamming will result in a suitable sanction. • Be Constructive If you don't have something constructive to add to a thread then don't post at all. This applies especially in the "Classifieds" section, if you have something to say, PM it to the seller. Comments like "good luck with the sale" or "nice gun" are also not appreciated. Repeatedly ignoring these guidelines when you post, may lead to your posts or account being moderated/edited. If you intend on using the Classifieds forum you must read and follow the rules Forum Rules The following are rules that must be adhered to. Failure to follow these rules will attract the attention of the forum moderators. All moderators are friendly people and follow the rules laid out to them, they are there to enforce the forums rules, if you have a problem with a particular moderator please PM me "proffrink" personally. • Thread bashing/trolling There will be some posts or threads in the forum that you may not like. If you dislike somebody's thread or some of the people participating in the discussion simply don't bother reading or replying to it. Posting/trolling in it with the sole purpose of having it closed (bashing) will not be tolerated. • Off topic Try to stay close to the original topic of a certain thread as much as you can. If you wish to talk about something else make a new topic, do not use an existing one. Remember to use the search function as there may already be a topic for what you wish to talk about. • Spam Adding posts that contribute nothing to the conversation (spam) will be deleted or merged with a previous post. Do not "bump" your threads by posting irrelevant information or just "bump". It is spam and will be deleted. Continuous spamming will result in warning points being added to your account, a suspension, or a ban from the forums. • Advertising No one is to use their account to place advertisements in their signature, avatar or any posts. Anyone caught will have their account, including all posts and topics deleted. They may also be banned by IP depending on the seriousness of the offence. Retailers / shops are not to place any adverts in the Classifieds. A shop can create one topic in the Places to Buy section, using the shop name as a title, with a link to your website. • Duplicate Accounts Each user is only allowed one account. Duplicate accounts take up valuable system resources and annoy other forum users. It is very easy to spot duplicate accounts created or used by the same person, and any duplicate accounts found will be removed. Breaking the following rules will result in an immediate IP ban, deletion of account and removal of all posts and topics. • Absolutely NO References glorifying or inciting drug-misuse References glorifying or inciting criminal behaviour or violence Images or videos of graphic violence Images or videos of an adult or graphically sexual nature Images or videos that show drug misuse • Racial, Sexual and Religious Equality This site makes no discrimination between people of different race, gender or religion. Airsoft is a sport for all, and these forums reflect that. We welcome everyone except those who demonstrate intolerance toward others. • Illegal/Banned Subjects You cannot discuss anything that will help someone break the law in his or her locale. This means talking about: How to evade paying tax on imported goods How to make a semi-automatic replica shoot fully-automatic in a country that does not allow this feature How to make your own or modify pyrotechnics How to get restricted items past customs How to get restricted items if you are under-age Any other illegal activities If you intend on using the Classifieds forum you must read the and follow the rules The link is very accessible from within the Classifieds forum if you wish to read the rules at a later date. Classifieds Rules
Callsign Warden reacted to Deva for a topic
The Law Your sale must be in compliance with Great British law, especially relevant; the VCRA, which has laid down various restrictions on the trade of Imitation Firearms (IF) and Realistic Imitation Firearms (RIF). Remember, the seller is responsible for checking and verifying the legality of a sale. Please see the UK Law section of the forums if you need any guidance on this and open a topic if you're unsure. None of the below is legal advice. In short: As a seller you are liable for who you're selling to. No airsoft gun can be sold to someone under the age of 18 irrespective of whether it's 2-tone or a RIF (i.e. black/realistically coloured) As a seller you must take precautions to satisfy yourself that who you're selling to has a valid defence against prosecution for owning an airsoft gun - for the majority of cases this means the person you're selling to should be an airsoft skirmisher. Some things you can check are: Skirmishing site membership UKARA database membership Photographic proof that a member is a skirmisher (i.e. pictures of them playing) In the interests of protecting the right to play airsoft in the UK, please be diligent when coordinating your sale, ensuring you adhere to the points above. Be responsible and reasonable in your requests for information on another player - do not ask for more information than you require or would be happy to give yourself, but do satisfy yourself that who you're selling to is a legitimate player. Forum Specific Rules (action will be taken against your account for disregarding these) Failure to comply with the rules will result in you receiving a ‘Forum Warning’. Warnings start with the verbal kind and steadily increase in respect of seriousness/repeat offences right through to a ban and deletion of all posts and topics along with your user account. Find out more about ‘Forum Warnings’. All sales / trades must take place between two adults (i.e. over 18 years of age). All sales and swaps must use the sales template. Add additional information to let buyers know your trade preferences or location for collection. This will help sell your gun or gear as listing without pictures rarely sell. All sales must have an asking price. The price must be in UK Sterling £. All sales and swaps advertisements must have a picture, all pictures must be taken by the seller. Do not use a retailers pictures - take your own. There must be at least one photo with a piece of paper showing your AFUK forum name and date next to the item(s) for sale/swap (this updated rule is effective from 01/12/2024). Do not use Photoshop or other editing software to include your username and date, this is what scammers do and will result in adverts being deleted from the Classifieds. Using photos with different usernames from other forums, and links to other forum photos, is no longer acceptable. You must have access to the item that you're selling. You cannot be selling items that you do not own, are not able to post immediately or being sold on the behalf of someone else. You must include a picture of every item that you are selling. It is not acceptable to just show a box or use a stock images. Pictures must be visible in the listing (placing a link instead of a picture is not permitted). Do not list the same item twice simultaneously. I.e. don't 'double list' an item. You cannot have an advert in both Sales and Swaps section for the same item, just select "For sale or swap" for advert type. Once your item(s) is/are definitely sold/you've found the item you're looking for (even if the sale happened elsewhere), please mark the advertisement as 'complete' by visiting the listing and clicking 'Set as Complete'. Second hand airsoft-relevant items only. No selling/swapping of any other items, this includes offering items such as consoles for trade. There are no exceptions to this rule. No sales of knives, real guns, airguns, or any item of any description that readily fires metal munitions, metal munitions themselves, or any other weapon of any type, aside from IFs and RIFs within the legal limits. The following limits are on all sales with no exceptions: <370ft/s for full auto systems with a .20g BB (1.3J is the legal maximum) <520ft/s for semi auto systems .20g BB (2.5J is the legal maximum) <520ft/s for single fire systems .20g BB (2.5J is the legal maximum) The Classifieds are not for retailers / shops. Any advert that appears to be from a retailer will be removed. You must communicate with your buyer/seller once a transaction is initiated (i.e. ignoring their PMs or topics asking what's going on with a sale/purchase). If you complete a trade/sale of any kind via the forums, please leave feedback for the seller/buyer, this allows us to see who we can trust or who we need to keep an eye on. You may leave feedback by going here. Any suspicions about the item(s) or seller should be sent via PM to a Moderator. Use the "Report this advert" link at the bottom of the listing and include a message (this will flag an issue for Moderators to look at). Transaction Advice (action will not be taken against your account for disregarding these) When buying or trading, we recommend that you take down the following details of the other party: full name, address, telephone number, email, alternate telephone number (work or mobile). It is wise to check the address is legitimate and that the telephone number is answered by the person you are dealing with. We also recommend that you request a photo of the items with a piece of paper next to it with the sellers username and contact details written on. We recommend PayPal for online transactions due to their excellent buyer and seller protection. Bear in mind that methods such as cheque, postal order, bank transfer or other may not be protected and as a result of using them you may not be able to retrieve your losses should anything go wrong. If you are paying for goods via PayPal, please make sure your payment is labelled for goods/services. Sellers may ask you to label your payment as a gift to avoid PayPal fees. However, this will prevent you from being able to access any of the PayPal buyer protection services (i.e. if something goes wrong, your money cannot be refunded). Should sellers ask you to do this, it may be better to offer to pay the fees out of your own pocket instead. Parcelforce 48 will post RIFs if you declare the contents as an airsoft gun. We recommend them as a courier. Disputes Given the nature of trades on these forums, it's impossible for a Moderator to mediate a trade effectively without reading your personal messages (something they cannot do and will never be able to), but if you build up a reputation for being an unscrupulous buyer/seller and are non-communicative you may receive actions against your account.
